Michelle Obama and Voters

I think Michelle Obama's stump-speech message of the unfairness of "moving bars," opportunity-killing debt burdens on college graduates, families having to move away from great aunts, and the fear engulfing the "vast majority of Americans" is not going to resonate with most voters.
This is the rhetoric of resentment and victimization, and as I played her speech from May 2 on yesterday's program --and it is very similar to the speech she made the previous Friday night-- the radio audience reacted with a combination of astonishment and anger. Michelle Obama discounts all the good that is going on in the country, skips over the deep generosity of Americans, and ignores the astonishing economic and social progress made in the U.S. since the close of W.W.II as she indicts aspect after aspect of American life.
Her very grim vision chills those who do not share it, which I guess to be the "vast majority" of Americans. One caller asked that if Obama couldn't raise the spirits of his wife, how will he raise the spirits of the country? Aside from the pithiness of the remark, it illuminated that Michelle Obama sounds like Pastor Wright and Bill Ayers when talking about America, making our country sound like a land of sharks and vultures.
Now, some people believe that, especially those who have had a rough go of it. Lots of people on the far left believe it as well.
But most Americans don't. Most Americans think their country exceptionally wonderful, a force for good in the world, and a place of enormous opportunity for everyone who studies hard, works hard, and invests in their family, church and community.
This "American pride gap" is a powerful problem for the Obama campaign. The young people he is attracting might not think much of the country their parents and grandparents built, but those over 40 are certain to have a deep pride in their efforts. Those over 70 must be astonished to hear Michelle's musings. Every broad-based measure speaks to economic progress across a wide front in this country. Home ownership increased from 55% of Americans in 1955 to 66% of the country in 2000. The percentage of the population 25 years or older with a college degree went from 6.2% in 1950 to 24.4% in 2000. The percentage of Americans living in poverty has been cut in half in the last 50 years. The country's population increased by 80% between 1950 and 2000, but the most basic of American indicators of possibilities and opportunities --car ownership-- soared by 383%!
The experience of the African-American population has not been that of the rest of the country, though significant progress has been recorded within that demographic as well, but so too have significant problems especially when it comes to family structure. The marriage rate for African Americans has been dropping for more than 30 years, and many other measures point to a general disadvantage among African Americans vis-a-vis the rest of the population.
But extrapolating those obstacles into an indictment of the entire country is not persuasive, and worse, it is deeply offensive to those who work hard, succeed, and give a great deal back to their communities without regard to race or gender. The "vast majority" of Americans are good and generous people who think the country is a pretty special place and are deeply proud of it. Not only do they not identify with Michelle Obama's vision, they reject it.
When Obama loses Indiana tonight, and struggles in North Carolina, it will be because of Pastor Wright in part, but also because the bitterness Wright feels towards America has at least in part seeped into Michelle Obama's rhetoric.
Byron York has more. The audio for Michelle Obama's speech is here.

Be a radical. Be a revolutionary. Overthrow an evil regime. If it was a righeous revolution and it turned out to be something special, precious that changed the world for the better, have the sense to hang on it it, fight for it.
In a few years it will be called conservate, but don't let that confuse you into destroying it. |
|
the sad, bleak Gov't School faux learning of the dingbat Dudsey. What was Revolutioanary then is called Consevative now. The Lib-Lefties of the time were sending thousands to the blade in France, 1793-94, during the period of The Terror.
We used to learn that in Public Schools in a far off time many decades ago. |
|
Marystella, If you mean the Declaration of Independence, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, it was written by radicals and liberals, by no means conservative: their fight was against conservatives. If you mean the US Constitution, your rights do not come from God, but from the people. |
|
|
I know that she is clinging to her religion of hate but where is she hiding her guns? After listing to her for an hour, she definately made some bitter buddies. |
|
I will never, ever give up on my conservative values. Conservatism embraces liberty, limited government, low taxes, economic freedom, respects the Constitution. We believe, our rights comes from God, not the government. God-given rights, Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
Democrats exploit unequality, unfairness, resentment of wealth, blame America. and we average people are too stupid to understand the compassionate and brilliance of their ideology. People have to be told the whole truth. And, we have to try, or at least give our best challenge.
No, I will never up, I will fight for my principles. I have never done that in my personal life either. Sorry, as a conservative, should not accept defeat, there is always a way to the pursuit of happiness, and only in this wonderful great country all is possible, to inspire.

I feel your pain, but we all have to grow up sometime. With an occasional exception, voting always means voting for a person because the other one is worse.
It will only get better when the stupid, suicical voters get a clue, and the deck is stacked against that. From kindergarten to grad school, they are indoctrinating our kids to be libs. In the inner-cities they are indoctrinating people to vote lib.
It will take an exceptionally articulate and charismatic conservative to make a clear, strong case to the American voter. I wanted Mitt; the Pub voters didn't. Tancredo was right on the border; I liked him too.
But I doubt either Mitt or Tancredo could beat a Dem in the general. McCain might. It looks like the Pubs will not only lose Congress, but the Senate will get its votes to override a veto. It's a mess.
But a lib congress and a lib president? Yikes!!! How many centuries would it take to recover from THAT??? Things might get better, but not in your lifetime.
|
|
There is something for everyone in her message. Take what you like and leave the rest
I am certainly not a fan of Obama.
I don't like McCain either. As far as that goes the last Republican that I liked was Tom Tancredo and he is retiring.
I am long time conservative Republican that does not trust the Republicans any more, they wasted their time in the majority and squandered our tax dollars and frankly don't think that they represent the interests of most Citizens.
Bush is a big disappointment as well.
The only reason I see to vote Republican is because the Democrats are worse? Is that really a good enough reason? I may just vote independent and let the chips fall where they may, in the end maybe things will be better. |
|
You are indeed a great American. It matters little that we are both Independents, and it matters little that we have both travelled many places around the world to contrast/compare the U.S. system to other forms of government.
Indeed, this is the greatest country in the world.
It is the most welcoming of outsiders.
It is the most rewarding for those who work hard.
It remains the most giving; both cash, and people's time to others---both inside and outside its borders. (this despite what Jimmy Carter has said for years in he USA being the stingiest developed country in the world--what a national joke, he is).
It also has many forces working against it and I do hope you are up to the challenge of addressing those forces.
Jan-----thanks for the clarity.

Too, TOO much fun. A shipwreck is occuring and they're calling it 'Victory'. God, how the Dem-Party Bigwigs must me grinding the enamel off their molars. Bazama hasn't won any of the desperately crucial Big States and, yet, he's now appearing to be the Nomination Taker. Howlin'Howie Dean is going to have to be talked off the ledge and the gun wrenched from his teeth.
OPERATION CHAOS is succeeding beyond our dreams.
K.G...Oh, Trust Me, my bidness is filled with Obama family types. Articulate, nimble, pretty and empty. They prosper in Hollywood. NOT leading the world's Unipolar Superpower in Post 9-11 Vast Historical Times of Danger.
Toast. Clueless TOAST. |

Another, Obama victimizer, victory unhappy speech, mothers, fathers, sons not being able to pay bills, get Medicaid, health insurance coverage, bleak, American landscape, a whole planet in peril, in despair. Time for great unity, embracing his vision, his agenda, divided we fail, all line up behind the the Democrats' inflated behind. Or? On Second thoughts? Somehow Comrade Hillary, Hmmmmmm.... Some say she is betting, or planning for 2012.
Remembering the 1968 era!

Which truth from which speech that B H B spewed?? the one where he claims he can not abandon his pastor or the one where he throws him under the bus while claiming to not know the man of twenty years? (Laughter) |

Clarityseeker, permit me to provide you with some clarity. I’m a registered Independent, who leans toward Republican thinking most often, and votes most often Republican. I affiliate with Republicans when I want to participate in caucuses and primaries. I believe in small government, less taxation, and independence in all facets of life. My father was a career Navy man who served two terms in Vietnam, he’s traveled the world, I’ve traveled to a number of places throughout the world, and my father and I both agree there is no better, kinder, prosperous, country than the United States.
In my humble experience, many socialized countries I have observed have greater homeless problems, higher cost of living, lower quality of life, lofty taxation, more penalties for becoming successful. By the way the recent local and national Canadian papers have similar complaints about their lousy government policies, high gas prices and taxes. Incidentally, it cost $80.00 to fill up a four door sedan in Canada last week. The U.S. still has the lowest gas prices in most of the world, and perhaps in the world.
When people say they’re going to live in another country if “nameless” is nominated for POTUS, I begin to wonder whether they understand what it’s really like to live in these so called preferable countries—I think it belies their not understanding the substantial tradeoffs they will incur. It’s like the cliché, “the devil you know is better than the devil you don't.”

With tonight's results, I can't see Hillary's campaign gaining any new bump. The mainstream media and the flaky Demo party will most likely ask vehemently for Clinton to step aside—maybe as early as tomorrow morning. I won’t be surprised by super delegates announcing their support for Obama tomorrow and the coming days. Soros, Moore, Huffington, Mayre, NYTs, MSNBC and their ilk are cheering mightily tonight. Let them have their small victory celebration, and let us remind them that Obama’s demographic loyalties will not win in the general election. |

Bambi writes: "OK, I'm a former Canadian - brother a dr in Canada. Some of his stories are scary."
You must be on to something. This just in from the Globe and Mail. Anchor babies for Canadians seeking US citizenship? No not really. Just Canada's scary Single-payer health care system not working:
"More than 100 Canadian women with high-risk pregnancies have been sent to United States hospitals over the past year--in what a doctors' group attributes to the lack of a national birthing plan."
"The problem has peaked, with British Columbia and Ontario each sending a record number of women to U.S. neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). Specifically, 80 B.C. women have been sent to U.S. hospitals since April 1, 2007; in Ontario, 28 have been sent since January of 2007, according to figures from the respective health ministries."
"André Lalonde, executive vice-president of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, said the problem is due to bed closings that took place almost a decade ago, the absence of a national birthing initiative and too few staff. "
" 'Neonatologists are very stretched right now,' Dr. Lalonde said in a telephone interview from Ottawa. 'We're so stretched, it's kind of dangerous.' "

Becky, If you votes against Gore and Kerry, tell us why you voted against them. if you cannot do that drop the pretence of being an Obamican. Obama's voting record (short as it is) is very far to the left or Al Gore and John Kerry. |

...as we've been saying over and over. If they came to my business, looking for a job, I would bust out laughing. And most of these are done by people with less than a high school education who barely speak English, but they have grit, common sense and know how to get a job done.
Can you imagine Michelle working in your business? The biggest trouble-maker on the planet. And Barack? We need people who know what to do when the toilet overflows. Or when gang-bangers graffiti all the trucks. He's going to clean up with world? I doubt he knows how to clean up the men's room.
Nice pretty-boy, though. |

spoiled, high-chair pounding wimps have the faux brass to be after the Biggest Job in the world--IN TIME OF WAR. Looked at logically(something Lib-Slicks aren't capable of..)it's laugh out loud lunacy. Nuthin'. They've got nuthin'.
There's not 10-cents worth of experience, grit, know-how and muscle for the job that any of these estrogen popping Lib-Men here have offered on O'Bammy's behalf. Empty of suit. Absent of character. Clueless beyond imagining.
Nice fella, though. |

The white power structure fears the truth and Obama represents the truth.

TRUTH FIRST. Obama represents the truth. |

Just stating the facts that reading all the pseudo intellectual drivel from Brod is like watching the retarded kid next door play in his yard. Obama is Brod's hero and he cannot even defend the naked disconnect in character displayed by the man of pious change and his compatriots in evil intent for the nation of his children and ours. what a steam bath in proxy. (Laughter) |
|
Did you hear Missy's speech, saying: Barack has seen it all because he was born to an 18-year-old white girl from Kansas? And lived in Indonesia? And no silver spoons? And coulda worked on Wall St. but didn't? What immature arrogance. Clueless.
I just buried my 90-year-old parents. They saw it all. McCain has seen quite a bit too. B&M have seen nothing.

need to fret. Michelle's not p!ssed off at them. That's saved for her country. Ya know, where a 'neighborhood activist' can't get paid enough!
Only a Lib-Dem could possibly call Neighborhood Activist a JOB...or, an OCCUPATION! Yep, that's some job resume ya got there, O'Bammy!
Toast. That's what Bazama isssssssss!! |

Brob, although intelligent, like most obnoxious American Dem/libs thinks socialism/communism would work if the RIGHT people were in charge. hahaha. Facts and history mean nothing to him. The only thing he's gotten correct so far is a stat that libs earn more than cons. That's about it.
He still thinks Dem/libs won seats in '06 due to America's love for radicals. Brob doesn't get it that America voted in Dem/Cons whom Pelosi ran just for that specific purpose.
He also argues that relationships and character don't matter. |

ask Brob where he lives and where he used to live...
Hysterical. |

Hill vs. Mill. Girl fight. Girl fight. |

Michelle makes the terrorists look like girly-men. Give BO a break!
Just turn her over to me and Mrs. Neo. We'll put that Alpha-woman wannabee in her place. |

married to Ms.Anger Dominatrix and looking, as days go by, more & more milque toast wimpy. We are to believe he's going to face down true evil, despicable tough guys...when it now appears he's married to a little p!ssed off cyclone that he can't shut up!
These prissy, estrogen-overflow boys of modern day Libdom scare, maybe, their pet toy fox terriers. Maybe. |

Jan,
Pardon me but it sounds as if you are part of the, DEMOCRAT PARTY. That's fine, however, it is the very megaphone of the Left which declares foul in those who've attempted vetting Obama.
The media certainly took no lead in exploring who Obama is, and then when they did follow others (in late March) in questioning his, "judgement", it was only after some kicking and screaming.
Howard Dean is claiming racism for those who are asking questions about Obama's judgement in choosing Wright as his, "uncle", his "spiritual advisor", his "good friend".
Funny how the Democrat Party is anethema to character issues of one of their own. Matter of fact, it was Hillary Clinton who brought national attention to Obama's 1.) relationships, 2.) plagiarized speech, 3.) multiple "staged" fainting episodes at his rallies, 4.) "bittergate", 5.) photos of Obama in Somali garb and other reelations of Obama.
But, the Democrat Party exhibits a schizophrenic position on this as they blame conservatives for all that Hillary has dug up.
And now Howard Dean calls it racist, hate, and divisive, these dialogues. It's hard to keep up with you guys. Then there's your unique SuperDelegate fiasco. Then there's your Michigan, Florida conundrum. The gifts that keep on giving.
You hang in there with your gal, Hillary, though. I look forward to the, "vast-right-wing-conspiracy" redoux. It'll be a fascinating overlay on reverend Wright's U.S. government AIDS conspiracy, and, drug-distribution conspiracy to inner-city black men. |

Ohio! Clearly I am not special! at all. Your marvelsness, specialness Mrs. Michelle Obama; Dear ma belle, have I lately told you, for a presidential candidate spouse you LOOK glamorous, fabulous, but at times disheartening self-absorbed, and narcissistic. Oddly, in my littleness, and in my cynicism,I am among the uninformed, uninvolved massed, but still feel your pain how you and your husband with your few millions income, could figure the expenses putting your daugthers in piano and dance lessons, summer camp sports programs, etc. Your resentment, and discontent is quite justified. Your previleged education, inability to live and embrace the hopelessness and desparation of the masses, surely left you begrudge the elitism, and ask the masses not to go have a good education, and not to go to evil corporate America, as you and your husband grieviously did. Mrs. Obama, it seems, you and pastor Wright are at the same belief that American Capitalism is the cause of poverty and suffering, and sinfully enslaved the middle-class America to the evil Corporations. This is what I learned today from my sweet lady Obama today. The vail of impossibility!? Just Enduring. |
|
... I come from a "bitter, gun totin', Jesus huggin" fambly in the Midwest, "Even though," my great grandfather was a cobbler immigrant from Bavaria with no education, "Even though" my grandfather was a machinist in the Manitowoc boatyards during WWII, etc, etc, they still gave thanks every day to the gracious God who made it all possible and generously provided the opportunity. Michelle Obama would have us all bowing down and giving thanks to the guv-mint and her husband because she and Obama know what's best for us poor dumb hicks who busted a__ to get where we are.
We're doing just fine w/o your handouts Michelle (TAXES for us'ens I suppose), just stay out of the way is all I ask. She and her Chicago pedigree are getting beyond annoying and downright personally insulting. Joe's right. If I had a relative like her, "Thank God they often serve alcohol at" fambly events. |

I think someone today or yesterday said they didn't know much about the Canadian health care system, but they know that it is better than ours. Maybe you should do a little investigation before you open mouth. Get ready for limits on health care when you get older. No transplants, no exceptional intervention. It has to be limited and the first to go is for elder care. But then maybe you are real young and you don't care. By the way under obama care he voted to allow botched abortions - meaning the baby came out alive - to lay there until they die. No Dr could lend any assistance. So I guess under bho the care at the other end of life will also be limited. OK, I'm a former Canadian - brother a dr in Canada. Some of his stories are scary. But we don't care - we just want change. Heaven help us! |
|
Bottom Line: A McCain-GOP victory
There is no way you can look at that agreement as a Democratic victory. Two days after the Deal was announced, Owen was confirmed by the Senate. Two weeks later, Brown was confirmed, and the next day the Senate confirmed Pryor. These confirmations were exactly what President Bush and the Republicans had tried to accomplish for five long years and the Democrats had blocked. The confirmation of Chief Justice Roberts and Associate Justice Sam Alito –two exceptionally capable and conservative jurists– were made relatively easy because of the “Gang of Fourteen Agreement.”

Change? Ah, healthcare US Post Office style, won't that be a wonderful.....it almost makes one wish you'd get what you wish for, to hear the malcontents then. Poor old Aunt Esther. She hasn't been the same since they canceled Sanford and Son. |

First off, I am no Christian but an atheist. Oops, there goes that. No, I do not long for Jim Crow, an invention of the Democrats, but for a Constitutionalism that actually adheres to what is in print in that document. I am sure there are black people with "beter" jobs than mine and I am equally certain that you are not one of them. I begrudge them nothing unless they have nursed at the public teat merely, as has Barry. As for your list of insults, you earned every one and live down to them. You make claims only to your own experience. Blevins, again, has the advantage of you but it does give one license to examine our experience OF YOU. You demonstrate as much ignorance of politics, history and economics as you do of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Your denunciations of my education and career, taken of course in metaphysical levels of ignorance, reveal the Obamoid in all it's simpering, malignant, grievence mongering glory. Obama wants to pick my pocket. You are on board with this piracy not for the material benefit merely but to "stick it" to some nameless foe that you blame for your own petulant incompetence at all life's activities. I say, you worthless scum should START the little revolution you cowards are always whining about. You know nothing of the Left if you claim that the other side is the radical revolutionary. Google up Barry's pal Bill Ayers. He's in edumacation. I have no intention of leaving this great nation, it is the slurpers of Kerry, Clinton and now Obama smeg that always claim they will slink off after losing an election. Again, you graft your own reflection onto me. No doubt this is greatly flattering to you but I must object. You are the little worm you always suspected you were. Obama is the little worm that makes pathetic little worms feel less pathetic. Okay, I understand the appeal there but as Churchill said so well, one may dine upon the rich and eat well... for a day. |

she was in law school. so what on earth was she doing that constitutes her 'experience' for 35 years. |

Clarityseeker, forgive me; I want to go back to your earlier post outlining Hillary Clinton’s liabilities. I couldn’t agree with you more. For many years, I have been vocal about my misgivings having the Hillary Clinton as the first woman POTUS. If I could simply blink it into reality, I’d rather Condi Rice be the first woman POTUS. Obviously, that’s not going to happen.
At the beginning the primary season, I gave Obama the benefit of the doubt: he’s handsome, well spoken, seems intelligent, likeable, refreshing and so forth. As I looked to the media for relevant information about him, I heard nothing about Obama’s key accomplishments. I started researching him on my own to better understand his track record of service and achievements, and I found little. His resume was scanned into the Politico.com site, and it didn’t tell a compelling story of why Obama is qualified to lead this great country in this complex and turbulent time.
In essence, Obama’s inexperience made me realize I’d rather have Hillary up against McCain. If a Democrat is to win the overall election, I would rather have Hillary. At least I know Hillary Clinton loves this country, and Clinton has a track record of accomplishments that can be examined. I keep reiterating in other blogs, Obama is the anonymous candidate, because he’s been allowed to remain indistinguishable.
As citizens I think we should demand strong leadership and experience from the candidates running for POTUS. I hope Clinton once again proves tonight, Obama can’t close the deal despite ALL the (unfair) advantages, protections and shielding he’s received from the national media.

I didn't say I live in an apt. I live quite well, thank you. And I'd be doing even better if I didn't have to pay for things our parents took for granted--I need a private cop company in my neighborhood, and sent the kids to private schools til college.
But we have significant problems that have to be fixed. Saying that doesn't make you UnAmerican, it simply is a truth.
Newt Gingrich sees the handwriting on the wall. Maybe the rest of you should. |

There's a Brazillian Fart Fetish site? |

Dustoff...
The constant refrain of "Most Liberals..." does little to support any argument that you advance. I've honestly met few Americans who believe that government is the "answer to ills" or any of the principles that you've assigned Liberals.
Although not Liberal ideologically, I don't necessarily understand the need to create "an enemy" where one doesn't exists. If you disagree with the policies and principles of another then state such...
Or continue to rely upon the intellectually lazy arguments of those who sell Fear & Hatred.

I will give Brother W a B+, mostly losing points for the occassional capitulation to worthless pukes like yourself who cannot wipe their own arses. Other than that, kudos. And if the question is "just what does this look like?" meaning the conservative vision for the nation I posit confidently that it existed before the New Deal as far as Constitutional questions are concerned. That is about a fourth of this great nations existense. Are you familiar with that at all? It came before you congealed so unfortunately in that sewer pipe and as Gibbon put it so well, "To be ignorant of what went before you were born is to remain ever a child." Child is the most kind nominative we may apply to you so enjoy that. |

POS that your are, Brob. By the way, do you misspell your own name? Yeah, I knew you did. Sorry moron, I don't declare that anyone owes me anything and you are a liar to claim such, typical Lefty scum, but Barry and Michelle and their army of anti-freedom punks do every day. Doesn't Michelle claim that, despite her test scores that put her, tragically, in the Brob category, that SHE and Barry deserve to be elevated to the highest office in the land on the merits of their melanin content? Yup and yup. All I want is for the gov to throttle back the thievery, keep up the program of liberation in the ME and, in the extremis, not treat me like a pig on a plate but rather a productive citizen; something you have only seen on cable. Sadly, the current state of our politics requires that a guy like ME who works, owns his home and pays his bills, must support an ad hoc army of worthless losers like yourself who have nothing else to do on a Tuesday but two-finger type out utterly crapulent complaints born of sexual frustration. Brainless, dickless and above all, hopeless you scum feast on the provender provided by better men and women like me. Like that? I knew that you did. Barry has about as much chance of being elected (in the general) as you have of getting laid by a 3-D human girl. That is none. Of course the vermin that infect the Dem primaries, well, they just heart socialism, social breakdown, poverty, misery and jihad. It's just that cool. As for your pathetic attempts at humor and intellectual discourse, well, I think I will google up Jimmie Blevins. He is smarter than you by a country mile, obviously. Maybe you should have palled around with him more. You might have grown some nads. |
|
But like most libs. They (feel) key word, only Government can make their lives & income better.
And while saying Socialism you may as well say Communism, because it can't help but lead to that as you depend more and more on gov. |

he's a townhall admin pulling strings to keep the faithful at fever pitch.
think of him much as you would a toothless sperm whale surfacing to blow out marxist flotsam from the oceans bottom.
then he submerges only to resurface again with more marxist idiocy. |

.. in the face and it won't change the fact that in virtually every case, a significant move toward socialism and away from capitalism reduces growth at a minimum and usually does even worse: it usually leaves people impoverished or starves millions -- while the move away from socialism to capitalism has the opposite effect.
It's happened all over the globe in all sorts of cultures and across all sorts of geography. And that's because socialism is incompatible with the nature of man. |
|
My son, the young, obscenely well-paid LA lawyer lives in an apartment and why? Because his taxes are so high. And don't tell him to hire a high priced tax laywer to ferret all kinds of tax loopholes. He is a high-priced tax laywer!
And FYI, he does NOT adore Barack and Michelle, who will raise his taxes even higher--money that will just go down a rat-hole that could be used to pay students loans or buy a house. My son does not love B&M, who will continue the flood of illegals, who run up gov't costs....more than the Iraq war, BTW, as we speak.
And he does not adore their health plan. Right now he pays over and above the HMO provided by his company so his baby can be delivered by a competitent doctor. Government intrusion will just make things worse.
And my other son the doctor is owed over $200,000 by Medicare, but they are notoriously slow to pay. That's government for you. Screws up everything it touches because there is no leverage or accountability. B&M are not going to fix anything. It will only get worse with more nanny-statism.
Europe is finally coming to its senses, just when B&M and HRC want to go backwards. No adoration here for these naive, dangerous idealists.
My sons will do just fine thank you, if Michelle keeps her hands off them and their money. |
|
.... and it is still a non-seqitur.
Furthermmore, you are flying in the face of all economic history -- as well as common sense -- when you suggest that a move toward a free economy is some kind of risk.
Look what has happened in China since they ditched much of their socialism and introduced significant elements of capitlism. Did their living standards go up or down as a result?
Look what happened to Japan in the aftermath of WWII. They ditched most their socialist elements and introduced more elements of capitalism. Did their living standards go up or down as a result?
Look what happened to Eastern Europe after they got out from under the Union of Soviet SOCIALIST Republics, ditched much of their socialism, and introduced more elements of capitalism. Did their living standards go up or down as a result?
Look at the economic record here in the United States -- as I outlined in my last post to Briggsy. Compare the relatively laissez-faire 1920s to the heavily socialized 1930s and tell me which system worked better.
Understand this: socialism produces NOTHING; it adds NOTHING to what gets produced. It simply SEVERS the link between productive work and economic reward, by redistributing earnings however society decides to redistribute them. That can only have one effect: it destroys much of the motivation to maximize one's productivity.
History illustrates beyond all doubt that our fundamental choice is this: freedom or starvation. I chose freedom. |

what he wrote earlier today.
"A question for cons On an "A to F" grading scale, what grade would you give George W. Bush?"
earlier today the blowhard gave George W. Bush an A: "As soon as you can show me a country that runs as well as our(s)" 12:50 pm
dustoff-507, i'm quoting the words of blowhard.
Bill Cross I know how the con mind works +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
O-brother. You own words prove your a fool!

Have you even been to the EU?
Their unemployment has been much higher than ours for what the last 20 + years.
Italy is what 12% |

Bill was repeating Brobs words |

You went to a UC school and can't make it?
I went to UCSD and I'm doing great with a nice income and a home with a ocean view. |

The period of greatest sustained economic growth in the history of the United States was the period from 1921 - 1929. No other century in American history can match the economic growth seen then -- and it was a decade of stable prices. It was also one of the periods when we came closest to laissez-fair capitalism, with very low taxation and little government involvment in the economy.
The period of greatest economic collapse in the history of the United States was the period from 1929 to 1939, when Hoover terminated the economic growth of the 1920s with socialist-inspired tariffs, massive tax increases and a host of other government interventions in the economy, which caused the Great Depression -- a depression which Roosevelt lengthened and deepened with his socialist-inspired New Deal interventions. In 1939, after 7 years of “New Deal”, the unemployment rate still stood at 20%. 20%!!
If you want rising standards of living, you should be advocating laissez - faire capitalism, not socialism. |

Who gives any credibility to this schmoe, BJob over the excuses she makes for Howard Dean and his very specific remarks to Chris Wallace?
I patiently await the feedback from rational responders.

I adore Michelle and Barack because they understand that we need to start from scratch in some instances, like healthcare, not try to just fix the broken mess we have. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Really based on what they have done? Their words donot fix their actions.
Beckey if your a lawyer and live in a APT you either live in a very high $$$$ area or you can't control your spending. |
|
"See, I know how the con mind works: you have a template and everything that does not "fit" you can't process."
reference almost anything the blowhard has ever written and then cross-examine it with this knee slapper.
i'm convinced that the blowhard isn't a real person.
the blowhard is an administrator at townhall pulling strings at hugh's place to keep the faithful coming back. |
|
Look I'm not really into insulting people, but your a fool! Talk show people do just that TALK. Wright made himself known by his mouth and ABC.
When I said REP.... the party fool.
I see why people slap you around when you show up here. |
|
Love the analogy.
The larger problem is that the GOP this time around is offering hemlock in place of the arsenic that the Democrats are offering. Slower poison, but poison all the same.
|
|
are you joking? These kids are very talented and getting their degrees. But education costs far more now than it did when I was their age, as do most things. I came out of school with $1500 in student loan debt, the out of state tuition I had to pay for one year here in CA. Law school cost me $1000 a year, or $3000 total. The difference between a UC law school for $3000 for all three years and a private school like SC was the difference between a down payment on our first home (all of $4400) and continuing to live in an apartment.
I pay huge sums in taxes. I give to charity. I adore Michelle and Barack because they understand that we need to start from scratch in some instances, like healthcare, not try to just fix the broken mess we have. Yes, I favor national health care insurance with an opt out. Demean me for that. |

Nixon......... NIXON??
Dude he's dead and your reaching! Same with Hagee.
Remember 20+ years please. |
|
Your argument amounts to this: since no one is PROPOSING less socialism and since no other countries HAVE less socialism, then MORE socialism is justified and will work. That's a ridiculous argument, a non sequitur, to say the least. And it can be used to eternally argue for ever more socialism until we reach the point of the jold Soviet Union or China in the 1950s or Cuba or North Korea or Vietnam or Cambodia or Zimbabwa under Mugabe or -- you fill in the blank.
Most of the nations of the world are mixed economies -- meaning they have elements of socialism and capitalism mixed together. That's like a mixture of poison and food.
A poison-food mixture can be ingested and still keep one alive -- up to a certain point -- but even then the poison will be causing problems. And in response to those problems, you want to vote in a man who promises a lot more of the poison and a lot less of the food -- all on the grounds that since others are willing to eat poison, why shouldn’t we as well? |

Dustoff Most African Americans would acknowledge that Reverend Wright’s statements are racists, however, Conservatives’ application of Repudiation 2.0 is, in a word, Unacceptable
Billy Graham was recorded [noted quoted, but recorded], while conversing with former US President Richard Nixon and with whom he shared a very close relationship, noting his obvious disdain & distrust of Jewish people:
Graham: “I go and see friends of Mr. Rosenthal at The New York Times, and people of that sort. And, I don’t mean all the Jews, but a lot of the Jews are great friends of mine. They swarm around me and are friendly to me, because they know I am friendly to Israel and so forth. They don’t know how I really feel about what they’re doing to this country.“
Nixon: “You know, it was good we got this point about the Jews across…The Jews are [an] irreligious, atheistic, immoral bunch of bas****s.
Sean Hannity and other notable Conservatives, after having adopted the tactic of plausible deniability, have refused to acknowledge the existence of this recording [as noted in the video below] and thus aren’t obligated to Repudiate Billy Graham and other renowned religious leaders who’ve made comparable statements against America:
Jerry Falwell: “I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way — all of them who have tried to secularize America — I point the finger in their face and say ‘you helped this happen.’” –on the 9/11 attacks
John Hagee: “So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the Day of Judgment, and I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans |

Maybe you should teach gratitude to your sons....my two will succeed at what ever they set out to do.Circumstances are temporary, and the government ain't their mama. |

And we wonder why the Obamas sat in Jeremiah Wright's church for twenty years? Michelle has been singing the Wright message all the time! |

Clarity: "At 4:05, Chris Wallace asks Howard Dean if he was actually suggesting that republicans are racist in bringing up Reverend Wright. Howard Dean makes it abundantly clear that this is EXACTLY what he is claiming"
Actual Quote (in context) From Sunday's Fox News with Chris Wallace:
WALLACE: Governor, are you suggesting that bringing up Jeremiah Wright is race baiting, and hate and divisive?
DEAN: Yeah, I am suggesting that kind of stuff. I think when you start bringing up candidates that have nothing to do with the issue — when you start bringing up things that have nothing to do with the candidate and nothing to do with the issues, that's race baiting, and that's exactly what it is, just like Willie Horton was race baiting so many years ago.
Clarityseeker... H. Dean was quite specific in his description of what he believed to be the intent o those fixated/focused (hypocritically so) on Rev Wright. He in no way implied, suggested or inferred such against Republicans. To malign and slander an American in this way is wrong.
What I Learned This Week
http://whatilearnedthisweek.wordpress.com/ |
|
Poverty is down and this is the only country in the world where majority of it's poor drive cars.
The real problems are created by ill advised government intervention in the economy. The New Deal and the Great Society were major government attempts to stimulate economic growth and to socially engineer the relationship of it's citizens.
The long term damage of both periods of US history has been enormous. If anyone wants to figure out why every major city has a large pocket of slums with a predominantly African American community stuck in the middle, they only have to look to the 1930's and study the relationship between the Feds, the insurance and banking industries.
The Great Society compounded the problem of the inner cities and left blacks in the dust.
The biggest mistake of blacks is to look back to pre-civil war America to find the root of today's problems social ills. The problem lies with the Federal government and it's use of the banking and insurance systems to acheive hat were thought to be positive ends.
It's a fascinating story, but an American tragedy.

Your kidding right or should I say LEFT.
The left/Libs scream racist eveytime they can't win. Nedd I remind you of a college that a few students were accused of rape and what was the next words that came out.. Yeah that big R.

BJob says:
"You will no doubt have no problem giving me a link to this verbatim quote, right? Probably not . . . because I suspect you simply made it up."
And there you have yet another glaring example of BJob's ignorance, and BJob's style---make the allegation first, prior to any definitive determination as to veracity of my claim.
|

"And. Bill Cross, I notice you didn't answer my simple questions to you. Typical empty con rhetoric . . . . "
i owe you nothing.
besides, how can can it be empty rhetoric if i never stated a position.
|

...and myopic accusations of "RACE-BAITING"...
From Sunday's Fox News with Chris Wallace:
WALLACE: Governor, are you suggesting that bringing up Jeremiah Wright is race baiting, and hate and divisive?
DEAN: Yeah, I am suggesting that kind of stuff. I think when you start bringing up candidates that have nothing to do with the issue — when you start bringing up things that have nothing to do with the candidate and nothing to do with the issues, that's race baiting, and that's exactly what it is, just like Willie Horton was race baiting so many years ago.
I think we're going to take a — we're going to turn the page on this stuff. I tell you, you know, there's a lot of difference between the Republicans and the Democrats on issues, but the biggest issue of all is we don't use this kind of stuff. We never have used this kind of stuff, and we're not going to start now.
America is more important than the Republican Party, and that's the lesson that the voters are about to teach the Republicans.
Transcript of show here----for anyone who heard BJob say that I was making it up. It's typical of her making such a claim first------then asking someone else to do her work for her.

...nothing new, not from you...
You claim ignorance of Howard Dean's comments this weekend? So be it.
The link is below---something I will not be goaded into again by the likes of you and your LAZY, empty allegations.
http://www.foxnews.com/fns/index.html
(4:15 on the timer Howard Dean starts his long explanation about the republicans being racist---kind of sounds like BJob's narrative---how coincidental. At 4:05, Chris Wallace asks Howard Dean if he was actually suggesting that republicans are racist in bringing up Reverend Wright. Howard Dean makes it abundantly clear that this is EXACTLY what he is claiming---and once again, showing how ignorant you are in making an out-of-hand claim---you saying, "because I suspect you simply made it up").
I suppose there could be something said for you making up your ignorance of not knowing this. However, I am convinced your ignorance is deeply-bred, well established, and stubbornly maintained. And very much part of that which makes the DEMOCRAT PARTY perfect for you. |

Brob you are a snob and silly. Liberalism is what has endangered this nation and you my dear are too young, too uneducated to realize that. My guess is your memory goes back as far as your birth. Not only do I love the nation, but it has been liberalism that has put it in danger. That a twit like you doesn't understand that is not strange since you haven't a wit of commons sense, or an understanding of our history, heritage or foundations of liberty. You sound like one of the idiots who sit on the Berkeley square , staring at your stomach wondering if life is real or not. C'mon kid, drop the leftist drivel. It will help cleanse your soul and perhaps give your brain a wash which has been polluted from whatever educational implant that has hurt your spirit. Poor thing. LOL |
|
"Bill Cross, you are new here"
there you go again. actually, i read the comments daily but post sporadically, and have done so for several years.
"I think it is fun to toy with conservatives becaise" ...
you are not effective. if you think your message is persuasive you are delusional. |

Today I found a link at LibertyPost.org concerning the fact that while counseling a couple to keep them from divorcing Rev. Wright decided he was to be with the man's wife. So they divorced and Rev. Wright (the self-righteous)married the woman. This was about the time that the messiah Obama was attending the church. To me as a Church going man I would find it very difficult to attend a church that the pastor had been involved in such behavior. Where was the denomination why did they not take action? As for Sen. Obama, we attend or become part of organizations that we agree with. As humans we find friends, spouses, Churches that agree with our world view. So do not tell me Senator Obama was blind to what was being said and what was occurring in his friendships, work associates, and Church.http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readart.cgi?ArtNum=224031 |

Yeah, I caught part of Dean last weekend.
To paraphrase:
Q. DNC Chairman Dean, there is not one shred of truth to anything your party is saying.
A. So what? |

The posters here who cannot remember the fact that the Dem Party since LBJ, has been trending not only leftward but toward pure socialist answers, are just pathetic. No wonder our test scores in schools are dropping; the parents on the Left represented here, have installed Leftist DNA into our kids via osmosis and they are becoming non-producers, dependents on the state for their freedoms and listen to the Messiahs on the Left for their own decision-making. Both Dems are socialists and pacifists and both would reduce liberty in choice ala health care, the building of new energy plants (nuclear, oil, natural gas et al)and both would render our military superiority inept and impotent. To blame Reagan-Bush as all the Dem clones do for weaknesses in our nation is to forget the inadequacies of liberalism's failures from the Great Society on. The destruction of the black family, the brainwashing of pupils in our schools via NEA socialist curricula and the PC baloney that has rendered our choices for health, energy, schooling now moot. Bush and the wussy Pubs may be flawed but liberalism in the pose of the Dems over the last 50 years is killing our democratic-republican free enterprise system and the proof is now nation-wide. |
|
"an angry, nasty trailer trash loser ... "
yet the blowhard spanked another poster with a hanky a few days ago stating that the poster knew nothing about him.
he then proceded to state that the poster was simply jealous because he, the blowhard, was smarter and more well-read. |

BJob states in her most ignorant voice:
"No one in their right mind is yelling "racism" over the con fascination with the retired reverend...". (BTW---he just retired. He was not retired at any time in the entire 22 year relationship Obama had with him. You laughably make it sound as if his recent retirement negates any connection to Obama's long time relationship with him)
Why is BJob Wrong again?---as she so often is. Which is exactly why she is miserably irrelevant.
I have never once heard of Howard Dean referred to as someone not of "sound mind" within the DEMOCRAT PARTY. I have NEVER heard the LEFT refer to Howard Dean as not being in his "right mind". NEVER. As a matter of fact, Howard Dean----the very guy who declared this past weekend that ANYONE who brings up Reverend Wright as he pertains to Obama----is a RACIST. Did the DEMOCRAT PARTY criticize this opinion of Howard Dean, their leader? Nope, not one. did the Left declare Howard Dean out of his mind in making this declaration. NOPE---NOT ONE. Even CNN declared their station as being a, "Wright-Free Zone". LOL!!!
>;D

first the blowhard asks questions of me.
then he frames the debate with what i cannot use as a point of discussion, but yet tells me what he wants.
then the blowhard tells me i have no answers.
to paraphrase chesterton: it's difficult to reason with a lunatic because the lunatic thinks he's reasonable. |
|
you're right about about ysggirb. she has everything sdrawkcab.
so i'm glad to see the blowhard write than no country is run as well as america.
what i was hoping to point out was how the blowhard twists himself.
when convenient to win a point of debate he heralds how great is america. then when convenient he whines just the opposite. |

I appreciate your contrasting my thoughts. I did factor in John Kerry's pathetic wife. What a marooooooooon she was. However, John Kerry had nothing going for him at all. He was not about, "Hope" and "Change". John Kerry had no smoke and mirror machine of "Fresh" and "New". Obama is still eclipsing any counter force emanating from his wife. Besides, the Liberal world has something so much more powerful than anything the Kerry's had going for them.
What is it, you ask?
"RACISM". Yep, you challenge the Obama's on Reverend Wright, the Liberal's are setting up the backdrop of "racism" for you. Paddy, you're a racist.
Mark my words. Soon enough they will do the same to anyone criticizing Michelle Obama. It's coming. Howard Dean telegraphed it this past weekend. With no logic whatsoever that is his story and he is sticking to it. And soon he will expand it to cover criticism of Michelle. |
|
|
If there was ever someone who could serve as the poster-child for the sour fruit on the entitlement mentality, surely Michelle is it. Have we gone so far down this road that an otherwise intelligent person would insist - with a straight face - that she and hers are entitled to an education at some of the finest (at least in terms of cost) universities in the country, and I ought to feel a sense of obligation to help her pay for it? She reminds me of the high school kid who puts himself in hock for a brand new Lexus to drive to school, when a perfectly serviceable used Chevrolet can be had for a fraction of the cost, and who then complains because he doesn't have any money left over to drive it. I've got two kids in college now, and a third will be starting soon, and they're going to colleges that I can afford... and they're darn happy about it, I might add. If Michelle is looking for sympathy because of her own miserable choices, she's looking in the wrong place. The one place she can be sure to find it is in the dictionary, somewhere between "suicide" and "syphilis." P*ss poor planning on her part doesn't constitute and emergency on my part. |

You must've looked too long in the mirror this morning. I DO actually have a "pot to pi$$ in"... more than one, actually and the window I throw it from is on 14. My education, I'll not bore you with the details, I earned AND borrowed AND paid back. You demonstrate nothing to differentiate yourself from the blighted Jimmie Blevins on the educational front so this is an amusing angle from you. Or are YOU Jimmie Blevins? Hmm. In any event the Obamas of this world demonstrate the truism that No Good Deed Goes Unpunished. Given vast rewards for the color of her skin, (how do I know that? Everyone else has to get SATs and LSATs of minimal proficiency which MO proudly declares she did not.) it is, of course STILL not enough. We must supply her with a cush job. We must also declare her The Smartest Girl in School. Which she ain't. No fan of Marx, even one ignorant of the Marxism, is. But that's okay. The Obamas are idiots and their fans are bigger idiots. There is nothing to them except their resentments. Nothing. They pal with anti-American idiots and teach their children to be racist, anti-American idiots and the Democrats, Lefties and haters of humanity; anti-American and racist idiots that they are, cannot get enough. Wake up, numbnuts. Are you white? I won't assume. Barry hates you if you are and if you are black but have the temerity to be something other than a Socialist retard (probably safe there) like he is, he hates you even more, you race traitor. Hilariously, the push-back on Obammy has barely begun. Clinton, for reasons of her own exposure, has barely scratched the surface on this hologram posturing as a human being. Obamma is anti-American to his core. Of course, so is Hillary. Neither one can stand ten seconds in the presence of a genuine hero of this nation's wars and politics and it is disgraceful that one of our major parties will give them the chance. But much jollier than that, this thing has not even begun yet, thanks, Hil! |
|
I think in the long run, it will matter. You remember, I'm sure, the election of four years ago. I wouldn't be a bit suprised if the grace and style of Laura Bush swayed a few voters when compared to the bizarre Theresa Heinz. People want America represented by class, not crass.... |
|
For the record, Briggsy is never right, has never been right, and will never be right. This is well known. His comments, therefore, must be excluded from any wagers or comparisons.... |

"As soon as you can show me a country that runs as well as our(s)"
versus
"Hugh is speaking of an America which has been in an accelerating decline since W was installed into office."
who is right: the blowhard or the women's studies graduate? |

...however, those who love her husband don't give a hoot or holler.
Those who are sitting on the fence are not even reading what Michelle Obama is ranting about.
And those of us who find her narrative, narcissistic, distasteful, unappreciative, it matters very little. Seriously. All one needs do is look back on the foaming nature of Hillary Clinton when she was in office. She INVENTED the, vast-right-wing-conspiracy. No biggie. She showed nothing but disrespect to any uniformed individual in service around the white house or her person. So what? She lent unfathomable (read: inexcusable) support, excuses for her husbands' philanderous behavior. In doing so, she slapped the, "women's movement", square in the jaw. Totally ignored. She went on to become Senator of New York State. She's now running for POTUS.
Bottom line: She's rewarded for her pathetic behavior. |
|
|
John McCain hates American workers. So does Barack Obama. |
|
|
Michelle is speaking of a fantasy land, not the US that we experience every day. We do however experience whiny knuckleheads like Michelle, droves of which are force-fed to society and educational insitutions especially by this retrograde insitutional racism we call "affirmative action". Poor little Michelle, can't cut the SATs but she's black so she gets in anyway. Everyone said Harvard Law would be a bit too tough for her? And, were they wrong? Michelle, like Barack (chief editor of Harvard Law that didn't publish anything? shwu?) has been given far more advantages than any white citizen could possibly claim. She was a dummy in Princeton and she is a dummy now but the AA types have told her this crap from Day One. Oh, you're as smart as them, honey, it's just Whitey keepin' you down. But what's really scary is Michelle seems to have a roll model for her career and that roll model is Hillary Clinton, god help us all. |
|
Both are far left liberals.
Please vote for Ron Paul instead. |
|
Black liberation theology, what Michelle Obama bases and argues her thesis. Racism can not be eliminated as long as capitalism remains intact, therefore, we have to change the society. Here comes the reason for the contempt for the "middles Classness", hostility toward American history. Understanding Michelle Obama, their pastor Wright, Malcom X's views, with their friends; Ayers and Dohrn their comments on 9/11, the association with PLO supporter Rashid Khalid. Their friends, all speaks that the Obamas were quite in tune and comfortable in such company. |
|
Virtually every significant economic problem we have in this country is due to socialist-inspired government intervention in the economy. And Obama is promising much more of the same thing.
You can blame Bush for not doing anything to dismantle the socialism. You can blame Bush for actually adding to the problem with the vast increases in Federal Spending he's approved, including a new entitlement program.
However, it is preposterous to assert that we've suffered an "accelerating decline" over the last 7+ years. There have been exactly 2 quarters out of 29 when GDP didn't show positive growth since Bush has been in office -- One was the first quarter of 2001 and reflected the dot.com bust that started six months earlier under Clinton and the other was the quarter when 9/11 occurred. Our economy over the last 7+ years has grown from $9.8756 trillion dollars to 11.6931 trillion dollars. How does that constitute a "death spiral"?
Still more preposterous, however, is the belief that allowing Obama to give us more of the poison that retards economic growth is somehow going to make the patient better.
Utter nonsense. |
|
with Michelle and Barak Obama.
Come to think of it, so would Tom Wolfe.
Tom! Time to write a new novel. |
|
|
To Hugh’s credit he’s been tuned into Michelle’s dispirited speeches—the bleakness of America, the meanness of America. Michelle is jilted, yet she is a millionaire. Michelle has no hope, yet she graduated from one of this country’s prestigious schools, became an attorney, yet she is a victim of paying her school loans. I can’t see this angry, victim mentality woman in the White House—for me it’s about her outlook on life; a disparaging view that is troubling. I see a woman who had tremendous blessings in every way imaginable. Michelle is puzzling. |
|
woman. Can she please tell us where else on earth but here could she and her husband have achieved what they have?
I think Michelle's problem is that she really isn't that intelligent, knows it, and thus explains the source of her frustration and bitterness. There is nothing more damaging to a person's psyche than to be given advantages, positions and promotions knowing that they are undeserved and unearned.
If she was white, she wouldn't have gotten into Princeton, Harvard or the jobs she got. And I bet that most of her professors in college gave her a pass on things like punctuation, spelling, intellectual honesty, development of argument, etc.
I don't worry too much about Barak; even if he wins the election in November, it will only be for four years. |
|
Around 35 years ago I watched a rally in Harlem on TV. The speaker was a prosperous looking black man in a custom-tailored suit. He stood on the podium in front of the large, mostly black crowd and said (paraphrasing, but close), "I am a black man from Harlem. I am also a psychiatrist, and I am here to tell you today that if you are black and from Harlem YOU CANNOT SUCCEED IN THIS COUNTRY."
He received a huge ovation. The spirit is alive. |

"This is Michelle BEFORE her Lithium and Prozac and weeks of quiet rest and knitting at Shady Oaks Asylum."
Barack: Focus, Bro. Let's see...You're saying that you can impress the Iranian Death Cult Mullahs, Retreat in Defeat & Infamy from Iraq, scare Hell outta Osama bin Laden & Ayman al-Zawahiri, impress Baby Kim of North Korea, make Bashir Assad of Syria weep with brotherhood & goodwill...
Yep, I agree that you can do one of the above: RETREAT in DEFEAT & Infamy. Just imagine yourself running for safety when the Angry Michelle scowls at'cha! See? Same deal.
Toast. CLUELESS Toast. |

... with a huge income can pitch "the bar is always moving" story with a straight face.
And that sums up and explains the entire appeal of the Obama campaign. The fool -- and his wife -- can actually advocate the stale policies of socialism as if their near-perfect record of failure didn't exist, as if socialism was some sort of bright, shining new idea.
The only question is whether they can convince enough voters to pretend that the twentieth century didn't actually occur -- that socialism didn't starve millions to death in the countries that implemented it most consistently, while impoverishing millions more in countries that only implemented it partly -- all while the mostly capitlist west was experiencing an astonishing rise in living standards.
Yes, you can Obama -- you can destroy that economic progress with a huge injection of additional socialism -- if the voters are dumb enough to let you do it. |
