More Obama Obfuscation
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 12:15 PM
This account of Michelle Obama's talk with gay and lesbian Democrats offers another example of the Obama campaign wanting it both ways.

The Illinois senator opposes same-sex marriage, the piece reports.

But wait a minute . . . [Michelle Obama] said [Barack] supported a complete repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, which . . .  upholds states’ rights not to honor same-sex marriages performed elsewhere.

Given that California has already instituted gay marriage, how can any principled opponent of same sex marriage support DOMA's repeal?  Without DOMA, the law would require every state in the union to recognize gay marriage.  In other words, gay marriage would go national.

There's no way that one can support DOMA's repeal and oppose gay marriage -- unless, of course, one is trying to look like a moderate while actually being anything but.

Undue Influence
Nice post, thanks - but don't let Kimberly get us off balance eddie too. That has to be the intention of such a troll spewing absurdities hardly worthy of retort.

The point is that Obama has no principled position on "gay marriage". He is a panderer, waffling around all of the issues with his eloquent political posturing. Pointed out by Carol and evident to all but the brainwashed.

Kimberly you are right,

GWB has been a great, great president. As you tout his many accomplishments, do not forget passage of the Parital-birth abortion federal prohibition.

Also, please remind your readers of how GWB has kept us safe from terrorists. Another one I know you believe in strongly is how he has managed to keep the economy from tanking because of a war and multiple mass catastrophes.

You are right to praise the RW. The RW needs more people like you who can so articulately explain how well GWB has served this great country and how the Republican Party, as bad as it may have performed, is far superior to the Democrats.

Thank you for your lucidity in pointing out these above GWB accomplishments.

Keep posting Kimberly. I will try to follow each of your posts with a re-emphasis of your admiration for GWB and his many successes.

Same sex institution of union
Why don't homosexuals start their own same sex institution of union that legally has absolutely nothing to do with the perpetuation of the human species, mating heterosexual human relations, and baby. Isn't it odd that is what same sex marriage theory insists the Institution of Marriage is? So, am I to conclude equality like beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
