Will McCain Step On Obama's Toes With His VP Pick?
Posted by: Jonathan Garthwaite at 11:57 AM
Drudge has the headline up:

SOURCE: NAME MAY LEAK AT 6 PM ET... WITH SOME SORT OF CONFIRMATION AT 8 PM... DEVELOPING...

Townhall readers and much of the rest of the world is expecting Mitt Romney to be the pick.

"Then will all you Mittbots please go away.... and not bug us real conservatives for awhile"

I'm not voting for McCain no matter which VP he picks, but you could also count me in your Mittbot category, and to answer your question - no, I won't be going away soon. Get used to it.
Tom writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 4:02 PM
So which one?
Which of these choices is NOT a Rockefeller republican? Please do NOT insult my intelligence and say Romney!!

Tom writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 4:00 PM
Va Pat- thanks
I had not heard that about Pawlenty- Thanks for the info. The internet sure makes it harders for these bums to hide their true selves don't it :)

VP,

I am not sure I understand you correctly. When did you come to this conclusion, recently? :)

As for my part, all laws are not of equal importance, some require violation by their very nature. Good judgment requires discernment.

If a candidate is not willing to defend the borders and uphold the laws, they don't deserve anyones vote.
eddie too writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 3:40 PM
VP,

I think it is an overstretch to claim that a opposition to amnesty is the only thing that defines conservatism. In fact, it is enough of an overstretch to observe that such a claim is ridiculous and shallow.

Watch them toes
Put yer boots on!

Gizelle, you need to cut back on the coffee!

"I rest my case"

Figure the odds of that......... :)
drokmed writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 2:54 PM
McCain did leave the option open
He did say he "may" announce earlier. I doubt he will.

I'm not worried about a "leak" either. Democrats are the ones that leak all of our classified secrets to the New York Times, not Republicans. I think we're safe from leaks.

Virginia Patriot writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 2:46 PM
Pawlenty Said Jimmy Carter Was Right

In April, Mr. Pawlenty delivered the remarks that probably best reveal his views on the environment. "It looks like we should have listened to President Carter," he told the Minnesota Climate Change Advisory Group. "He called us to action, and we should have listened. . . . Climate change is real. Human behavior is partly and may be a lot responsible. Those who don't think so are simply not right. We should not spend time on voices that say it's not real."

Not conservative.
Virginia Patriot writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 2:45 PM
No Real Conservatives Will Take It
If they sign onto amnesty, they were not real conservatives.

Palin

I'm all for Romney. But I like the idea of Palin, too.

A collective Sigh
Once the VP is chosen and it is NOT McMitt the neo con but rather a real conservative that has been prolife and pro- gun and pro conservative for more than 5 minutes!!!

Then will all you Mittbots please go away.... and not bug us real conservatives for awhile
Shannon writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 1:26 PM
Not a good idea
I think it might not be a good idea to try and upstage Obama because if they media do not give it much coverage, it will make the McCain campaign look unimportant. All the media will be all over the Obama speech for the ratings, they will not switch gears over the McCain announcement.
Angel writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 1:08 PM
No ...
I hope that McCain has more class than to try to upstage Obama's speech.

Political Suicide
You TH readers can ignore it all you want, but Mitt Romney is extremely unpopular and unlikable, according to most major polls. General Elections are for the people who don't identify with either party. Let's introduce them to the future of the Republican Party, Tim Pawlenty, Sarah Palin, or maybe Bobby Jindal. Mitt Romney is a posion that real Republicans need to purge from the ranks.
eddie too writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 12:20 PM
The more we can diminish the

Obambi candidacy the better. I hope he steps all over Obambi.
Satcomm writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 12:18 PM
I hope not
Romney would be a political disaster for McCain. Only the blowhards like Hewitt are suggesting otherwise.
MaineConservative writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 12:16 PM
Agree with Fat Man
At least wait until tomorrow.

Romney FTW
If it is Romney, get ready for the world's largest collective sigh of relief.

Forward- and backward-thinking Republicans should resist the temptation to push for safer choices for VP, and to all those who want a shot at it, McCain would be wise to say, "You, sir, are no Mitt Romney."

thunder.

Sorry.
Fat Man writes: Thursday, August, 28, 2008 12:06 PM
Don't Do It

It would be a cheap shot and set a bad precedent.

Keep your dignity. Let the democrats have their convention without lame attempts to steal their thinder.
