I wasn't surprised to see Barack Obama talking about his wife to Glamour magazine. I was surprised to see him bashing right-wingers for driving up Michelle's negative ratings. As if it's our fault she made those comments about being proud of America.
In the interview, Obama all but summons Hillary Clinton's notion of a vast-right wing conspiracy out to "get him."
Talk shows, talk radio?.When you see in the span of two or three or four weeks essentially the same talking points being used on a whole variety of shows or a whole variety of columns, over and over again....Hillary Clinton was subject to this, others have been subject to this in the past.
Obama also reiterates his promise to never, ever make Cindy McCain a campaign issue. Perhaps he'd better have a talk then with Jamal Simmons, the DNC strategist being sent out to CNN and other news outlets to do the dirty work. I wrote about this yesterday HERE.
Portions of the interview are on Glamour's political blog, Glamocracy where I blog every Tuesday.

...what his wife says is an attack. Letting the people know what his mentor of 20+ years says is an attack. Letting the people know about his shady financier friends is an attack. Using his middle name is an attack. Letting the people know about his terrorist friends is an attack. OMG! God Dam* you Americans! Stop attacking the prophet Hussein...err... I mean Barry.
Or perhaps the Charlie Brown version, "why is all right wingers always pickin' on me?" |

I can't stand Obama's wife; she has no redeeming qualities. I'm over it.
Here's what concerns me: Obama gives a speech two weeks ago proposing a Gestapo-type military force, which he described as follows:
"We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."
And the press has barely breathed a word. Who is this guy and what in the h*** is he proposing?

Obama's wife is a loser, that's fine for background, but let's move on. If Obama wants to waste his time shoring up his wife's image, let him. Get on him about the substantive matters because he's a very scary candidate. |

on this (maybe even a minority of one), but I am not interested in hearing over and over again about some soundbite comments that someone made (be it Michelle Obama, John McCain, George Bush, Mike Huckabee, or anyone else). So basically you are saying that in one speech Michelle Obama said that for the first time in her life she was proud of America, and that is going to represent, lets say if we estimate, 75% of the coverage of Michelle Obama that will be available to me,the reader, from Amanda Carpenter (oh, and also the obvious distrotion of the comment about the stimulus check -- 10% for that). It is sad to me that with all the amazing resources that we have today for communicating information, so much greater than in the acient times I can remmeber of a few black and white TV channels, the "gotcha" soundbite (remember "macaca"?) is what is endlessly presented. |
