On Like Donkey Kong (Update: Video Added)
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 6:50 PM

I'm on Larry King Live tonight.

I'll try not to fall down any stairs this time. Wish me luck!

Update: Allah has video of the segment, and it's mostly of me. I was on with John Aravosis, Lars Larson, and Stephanie Miller, but he cut them.

Yes, CNN did spell my name wrong and Larry King did call me Mary, but all in all, a good experience. I tried to jump in there and mix it up a bit. I met Carville in the green room, which was as entertaining as you'd imagine. I don't agree with him, but it is a riot to listen to him talk. He said he'd check out the blog. Feel free to comment, Mr. Carville. We'd love to have you. Ha.

Enjoy the video. I'll be at another CNN soiree on Election Night, and this certainly marks the first time a party I'm attending has been written up in the LAT, so rock on to that. I'll holler at them about the name-spelling before then.

Katie live-blogged the show, but Michelle missed it due to a funky glitch. Thanks for the shout-outs, guys!

Michelle on O'Reilly, here.

Michael Steele/WaPo sidebar
Mary Katharine,

WaPo is at it again. Republican MD Senate candidate Michael Steele received the endorsement of several black democratic leaders of Prince George's County yesterday, including former County Executive Wayne Curry. As this should certainly be front page news as it was in the Washington Times, WaPo decided to print it in the Metro Section on page B5, just before the obits.

Am I correct to say that if just one influential Republican leader endorsed Democrat Ben Cardin, the WaPo would treat it as front-page, above the fold?

The WaPo anti-Steele conspiracy continues. It will backfire and I'm truly convinced that next week Lt Gov Steele will be Senator-elect Michael Steele.

Very nice
You and David Gergen were the only ones giving calm, rational responses, it was refreshing to watch. All that manufactured hysteria gets old real fast. And when it came to Iraq, you hung in there despite all the condescending snickering from the other guests. Great job, and your joke was funny!

D'oh
I never noticed you spell your name crazy.

Unfortunately, I heard about this too late again and didn't Tivo it, but it looks like you did a great job again based on the clip.

I'll tune into CNN for my live-blogging of the election just for you, though. Remeber to act happy no matter what happens.

MKH & Lars win on points...

MKH,

You and Lars were each calm, reasonable, and affable, and both acquitted yourselves quite nicely.

On the other hand, had the segment gone another 5 minutes, I could sense that Stephanie Miller & John what's-his-name would have devolved into a Daily Kos moment, ranting to Larry King about some wild-eyed conspiracy by the Trilateral Commission, the Illuminati, Halliburton, and The Great Pumpkin to subvert the electronic voting machines in heavily Democratic inner cities.

By the way, great line about needing a drink if the Dems win.

Also dug the line about how far lefties such as Steph and John were chasing the Joe Liebermans and Zell Millers out of the Democrat party.

However, neither of their responses came close to refuting your statement.
Steph's dad ran as VP on the Goldwater ticket--- and John said you would have been right about 12 years ago.
Earth to Steph and John ; Ned Lamont is on next Tuesday's ballot.

Well done indeed
MK, congratulate your parents on my behalf will you? They raised you right.

Mary?
Was your objection to him not calling your Ms. Ham? Or is there some other name-switching involved?

Great job...
I like how you stood up to the chick that was in the studio. She was abrasive to say the least, but you had her over there scoffing under her breath while you made your points. Heh. My favorite was you calling the Dem's on their stolen election rhetoric.
