USA Today’s Susan Page on Barack Obama’s Recent Reversals
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 11:47 AM

“I think there has been some erosion of the aura of excitement about a different kind of politician that Barack -- they really fueled Barack Obama’s rise. It’s helped him with fundraising, given him these huge crowds at events. I’ve been talking to voters this past week for a story I’m working on, and I’ve had some people, young people who felt that Obama was the candidate of a generation, saying they’re distressed by some of the standard political moves that they’re seeing now.” – USA Today’s Susan Page on MSNBC’s Hardball, 6/2/08

I know your a plant and want to say to get anything on any subject to get a response out of people on this site. It is quite comical how you just spew out garbage without really thinking it thru and without reliable facts, but then that is a liberal fot you.

God does have woes for the wrongs being committed by us, When man takes it upon himself to free a people from the clutches of brutal dictators it is Noble, wanton violence is sinful, justified war is permissible. But no war ever is your creedo, right? As far as innocent plants? you do know that plants have no souls or feelings, right? God created the world for the support of Mankind, plants were created for the support of Mankind, Animals are for the support of Mankind, the Earth has no soul, no feelings, no emotions, it is an eco-system that was created to support Mankind, & the plant and animal life that support Mankind. All life on earth is for the support of God's creation, Man & (even Kimberly). We were created in his image. We are to respect Life, espectially the unborn who can not tell their Mother's not to kill them, did your Mother ask you if you wanted to live? I hope you have the same disgust for Kim jong il, Fidel Castro, Saddam Hussein(rip), and the like...prolly not, oh well, like B. Hussein Obama says, have a nice day Sweetie!

some are fooled
Barack Hussein Obama, Kimberly is thanking God for him....Do you think God is happy that he supports the "right" for a Woman to have her unborn baby to be Murdered in her womb, or for same sex marriage? How is it that a Senator with no accomplishments, sorry, activism does'nt count as an accomplishment, can get people to buy his "change" platform? No kidding we need "change", Barack O is promising that which he can not deliver, it's like the TV infomercials that promise to make you rich if you just buy their guaranteed-to-work program....but, the only guy getting rich is the Promoter...Barack O. He is rapidly becoming just as we thought all along, a slick Politician. He should have been a Preacher, He goes into preach mode and his followers become awe-struck with his brilliance, "he just makes me feel good", This is the real world with real consequences, we need a President with the backbone to look at Evil in the face & spit at it. "We'll use diplomacy" he says...we tried that, it does'nt work with tyrants, the only thing they fear is power, and someone willing to use it. He thinks he can tax us out of poverty, already been tried...a proven failure...next..

Change and Hope
Sam - I agree with you on McCain changing on taxes and oil. I do wish he would open up more on the oil side. But with that issue, I think Obama has backed himself into a corner that he is not going to be able to get out of. He strongly said that we could not drill, etc...really do nothing. He left no real options, except for changing his mind (again).

Scarlet - I have to go with the free pass on the young to a point. They are at a time in their lives where the majority are not paying mortgages, taxes, etc...so they have not really grasped what is out there. They keep hearing about his credit for the student loans. My niece is one of them. Don't forget you have to do 100 hours community service for a year. I was a teacher at college level and it suprised/scared me the lack of reading skills/math, etc...and of course the lack of American History.

But the adults that keep falling all over this guy, still baffles me.

Nothing new under the sun
I will give young people a pass on not knowing any better because they don't have experience and, apparently, they know zilch about world history in general and American history in particular. Nor do they grasp human nature. What is really alarming is supposed adults thinking that humans actually evolve and Obama will help us all make that great lightyear leap when it comes to politics. Did Kafka write this story of our current insanity?

What Does He Stand For?
I read that Obama is out stumping for faith-based initiatives, which I wish the federal government would stay out of, but he's insisting that they act like secular organizations?

Faith-based organizations should take the bait. If they're worthwhile organizations, they should have the faith that God will meet their needs without the Obama money train.

On flips, McCain has changed position on taxes. So what? He's been shown the economic evidence that a lower capital-gains tax rate spurs economic activity and actually generates greater tax revenue. Charles Gibson NAILED Obama on this point in the ABC debate. Obama showed that he had NO grasp of the issue. The weakness was highlight because Obama was too busy whining about questions regarding Wright and flag pins. On one of the several substantive issues addressed in that debate, he got destroyed by the questioner. So McCain has seen the light. Big deal.

On energy, McCain's original view was formed when oil was much less expensive. Again, he's seen the light, and even then not enough because he should say drill in Anwar. But again, who cares? All but 20 to 30% of the country says drill. And Obama is screwed on this issued because his base argues only for impractical ethanol, wind, solar, and two sticks to rub.

Feel free to highlight other flips, but any others can either be explained or they're minor.

For Obama, the point about his flips is that they don't favor his left base, they are dishonest reaches to the middle: Iraq, FISA, the Heller gun decision, the Kennedy child rape case, faith-based initiatives. And on too many others, I honestly can't tell where he stands: Nafta, abortion (personally opposed, politically in favor?), gay marriage. Go figure.

Denial...
Kimberly I think you're reaching a bit there. Remember the Bradley effect? Obama has always polled higher than what resulted in the voting booth. For it to be a Democratic year and for all the hoopla surrounding this guy, he should be well ahead of McCain, if for nothing else because Bush's numbers are so low. But much to the Democrats chagrin, voters are not associating McCain with Bush, they are giving him a fair shake. So with the margin of error, these guys are tied but because of the Bradley effect I would suggest that Obama could be running behind McCain.
I equate some of this to the fact that Obama has so many weaknesses. The latest is the lie he told in his new campaign ad concerning welfare reform. He is taking credit for something he was against. I would think Republicans would be all over this by now.
