From Realite-EU (HT: Martin Peretz):
Religious extremism and martyrdom:
- "We don't shy away from declaring that Islam is ready to rule the world.“ 1
- "The wave of the Islamist revolution will soon reach the entire world." 2
- "Our revolution's main mission is to pave the way for the reappearance of the Twelfth Imam, the Mahdi." 3
- “Soon Islam will become the dominating force in the world, occupying first place in the number of followers amongst all other religions.” 4
- “Is there a craft more beautiful, more sublime, more divine, than the craft of giving yourself to martyrdom and becoming holy? Do not doubt, Allah will prevail, and Islam will conquer mountain tops of the entire world.” 5
- "What is important is that they have shown the way to martyrdom which we must follow.'' 6 [President Ahmadinejad’s comments on an aircraft crash in Tehran that killed 108 people in December 2005].
- Ahmadinejad praises Iran for being able to recruit thousands of suicide bombers a day. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad praised his country's ability to recruit "hundreds of suicide bombers a day," saying "suicide is an invincible weapon. Suicide bombers in this land showed us the way, and they enlighten our future.“ Amadinejad said the will to commit suicide was "one of the best ways of life." 7
- “This regime (Israel) will one day disappear.” 8
- “The Zionist regime is a rotten, dried tree that will be eliminated by one storm.” 9
- Israel is "a disgraceful stain on the Islamic world" 10
- Israel is doomed to be "wiped from the map" in "a war of destiny." 11
- Ahmadinejad said that "the countdown for the destruction of Israel" has begun. 12
- Zionists are „the personification of Satan.“ 13
- "In the case of any unwise move by the fake regime of Israel, Iran's response will be so destructive and quick that this regime will regret its move for ever." 14
- Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared that the Holocaust is a “myth.” 15
- “Them (the West) invented the myth of the massacre of the Jews and placed it above Allah, religions and prophets.” 16
Iran, its nuclear ambitions and sanctions:
- “By the grace of Allah, we (will be) a nuclear power.” 17
- Ahmadinejad fired off a fresh barrage of warnings to the United Nations, saying Iran did "not give a damn" about demands to freeze sensitive nuclear work. 18
- "Iran does not give a damn about resolutions." 19
- "The Islamic republic of Iran has the capacity to quickly become a world superpower. If we believe in ourselves... no other power can be compared to us.“ 20
- "Iran's enemies know your courage, faith and commitment to Islam and the land of Iran has created a powerful army that can powerfully defend the political borders and the integrity of the Iranian nation and cut off the hand of any aggressor and place the sign of disgrace on their forehead." 21
- "Our enemies should know that they are unable to even slightly hurt our nation and they cannot create the tiniest obstacle on its glorious and progressive way." 22
- “In parallel to the official political war there is a hidden war going on and the Islamic states should benefit from their economic potential to cut off the hands of the enemies.” 23

A guy point a gun at you. Libs say, "Wait until he shoots you before you try to do anything about it." |

Wow. If Rush is correct, Prez Bollinger had to introduce the Thug with some hard, factual questions. According to transcripts on NRO, the Thug denied every one of Bol's charges naturally. Perhaps the stress of criticism allowed Bol to finally get a spine and hit the Thug with realism. Many students applauded their Prez' comments. My heavens. Is there light at the end of the Left's blind tunnel? |
|
For days we have heard nothing about the moral vaccuum in our countries universities in general and in Columbia University specifically.
Well, it happened today apparently and Bollinger looked the Iranian in the eye and blasted him to his face.
Well, how long will it take for Hewitt and Barnett to take back the FALSE statements they have made about Bollinger....
1001 1002 1003
I think I will be counting for a VERY long time.
This guys never admit they are wrong when they slime academics. |

I meant to say that for the last several days we have nothing BUT stories about the moral vacuum in our universities.

At last, Ahmadinejad shows his hand! He wants spare airplane parts; apparently we have had an embargo on such for the past 28 years. This is a method to his madness. |

Go to Drudge. Look up Pat Buchanan's latest piece. The neocons won't be happy until we're bombing Iran, but they haven't thought one MINUTE past that. These are the same people who thought we'd be welcomed with flowers in Iraq. By the way, using the word "neocon" does not automatically make one an anti-semite, Hugh.
If our attacking Iran is the "cure", then the cure will probably be worse than the disease. |

Nouri Al Maliki Prime Minster of Iraq
-- Leader of the jihad office in Syria for the terrorist group al Dawa. -- al Dawa simultaneously bombed the American and French embassies in Kuwait -- among other things. -- supporter of the Islamic Revolution in Iran
Mandatory principles of al Dawa:
Absolute sovereignty belongs to God.
Islamic injunctions are the basis of legislation.
The legislative authority may enact any law not repugnant to Islam.
The people, as vice-regents of Allah, are entrusted with legislative and executive powers.
The jurist holding religious authority represents Islam. By confirming legislative and executive actions, he gives them legality."
Al Maliki maintains numerous contacts and close alliances with groups in Syria, Iran and Lebanon including Hezbollah -- refusing to call Hezbollah a terrorist organization and condemning Israel for its actions against Hezbollah.
You see Hugh, I am an equal opportunity analyzer. When it comes to Amadinejad and Al Maliki, I don’t trust either one of them.
But at least we didn’t spill American blood to put Amdinejad in power and create another Shiite theocracy as an ally for him. And please, don’t dole out Iraq’s constitution as somehow “proof” that its a Jeffersonian democracy. Hugo Chavez of Venezuela has a constitution. So does Iran.

I guess the disease you speak of, that being waiting for Iran to use thier nuke and or take over all the oil in teh Middle east is an acceptable option. |

I find his coments to be similar to a John Hagee sermon on the rapture. Watch big John as he shakes and quivers while delivering his favorite topic. The end of the world. Just change some nouns around, and wa la, you have an end times rapture freak USA style. Religious fanatics are found all over the world. We have plenty of them here as well. They are all dangerous lunitic nut jobs. The CIA worked hard and long to recruit and heavily arm these nut jobs as "freedom fighters." Blowback is a bummer. |
|
I could not believe the clip I saw of Senator Joseph Lieberman and former Representative Tom Delay at a political action committee event run by Hagee.
Lieberman compared him to Moses.
I was astounded that any "mainstream" Senator would even speak at such a function let alone say what he said. |
|
It must be hard for Israel's Senator, Joey the Clown to keep a straight face when he says these stupid things.
But hey, Big John brings millions of federal reserve notes to Israel. He even promises not to spread the Gospel when he is over there. Hagee et al, are our versions of the ME's muslim fanatic's. Hagee is a pathetic fat slob. |
|
Of course, I don't trust Amadinejad any farther than I could throw him -- if that much.
But when you have a high ranking Senator in a position of influence over our foreign policy comparing John Hagee to Moses, we're not in good shape.

I heard Medved level all sorts of charges against Iran. Every one of them could be leveled at Saudi Arabia as well. Medved is pathetic in his blind ideology. Medeved is classic neocon zealot. No worries, he will sink with the SS Neocon into the dust bin of history. This is exactly where all this fanatical religious zealotry belongs. Medved is an infiltrator of the republican party. Republicans need to ignore religious freaks like Medved. |
|
How did the Republican Party get this far off track?
It's getting so ridiculous, that former Reagan administration officials are writing articles about Bush and Iraq that appear on sites like the Huffington Post.
Let's take a look at three quotes:
William F. Buckley Jr. (Conservative)
"I think Mr. Bush faces a singular problem best defined, as the absence of effective conservative ideology."
George F. Will (Conservative): "A stunningly anticonservative idea is animating the Bush administration's policy. The idea, a tenet of neoconservatism, is that all nations are more or less ready for democracy. So nation-building should be a piece of cake—never mind the winding, arduous, uphill hike the West took from Runnymede and Magna Charta in 1215 to Philadelphia in 1787."
And finally,
Bill Kristol (Was a Conservative, is now a neocon mouthpiece)
"If we have to make common cause with the more hawkish liberals and fight the conservatives, that is fine with me."
"If you read the last few issues of The Weekly Standard, it has as much or more in common with the liberal hawks than with traditional conservatives."
Yes it does Bill. Yes it does. And so does the Bush Administration. And so does this web site.

When, may I ask, are we going to start praying for our enemies? By we, I mean the Christians that are touted among your GodBlogs. As keeper of arguably the oldest GodBlog on the net (11 years of daily postings), I am troubled by the hatred and self-righteousness of the "religious" people in our community, who had nothing better to do than to puff up and condemn Ahmadinejad in language that belies their Christian commitment.
Don't get me wrong--Ahmadinejad is certainly an enemy--no doubt about it. And the plan he has for the west is troubling, even frightening. But he will not be able to put it into practice.
Most saw in Ahmadinejad a crazed fanatic bent on the destruction of the west. I saw that, too. But I also saw one of Yahweh's creations, gone terribly wrong, caught in an oppressive illusion, and suffering from his own evil will. As such, he merits our prayers--for release from his delusions, for repentance, for the light of Christ in his life.
We have an enemy. Jesus says, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you..." To the evangelical Christians on your list I ask, what is the meaning of all the over-exercised rhetoric? We need to start following Jesus and show the world what Christians are made of. What a difference it might have made if even one person in the audience at Columbia had stopped jeering/cheering and stood up to pray for this man who seems so far from grace.

Regarding his comments on Zionism, we might all do well to research and understand what he is really talking about. Look up Ted Pike who has a few videos on the inet. Anti Zionism is not Anti semetism. |
