Called on It -- For Once
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 2:36 PM
Remarkably, Helen Thomas (yes, Helen Thomas!) and CBS's Chip Reid called Robert Gibbs on the format of the administration's preplanned "town hall meeting" about health care (video here).

Although Gibbs dances, dodges and pretends not to understand what they mean, their point is obvious:  Taking pre-screened, hand-selected questions does not make for a transparent, open exchange of ideas between the public and the president that town halls supposedly promote.

If the Democrats are right in believing that President Obama is the genius we've all been told he is -- and the President is right that his health care plan is really best for America -- there shouldn't be any problem, should there?

Good for them
Keeping the administration honest. Let's face it, the Bush administration NEVER allowed this kind of volleying of questions and pinning them down on their promises. President Obama has shown us time and again over the short period he's been in office that he listens to us. That was never the case with Bush and the Republicans in office. One after another, the Bush press sectys got snippy with dissenting questions. Not so with Gibbs. Does he dance? No more than Dana "macharena" Perino.
Don't Tread On Me writes: Wednesday, July, 01, 2009 3:15 PM
Why complain about the TH meeting?
Obama's been having these pre-planned pressers all along where pre-selected reporters are called upon, no follow-ups are allowed and the Prez filliobusters for 10 mins at a time to keep from gettin too many questions.

But now some(HELEN THOMAS and CHIP REID?)feel the need to say something about a Town Hall meeting?

It's like walking into a cat lady's house, seeing the stacks of old papers everywhere, and the mounds of cat hair, and the 60 cat boxes, the piled garbage, and saying, "hey lady- didja have to paint the walls PINK?"
Retired Lady writes: Wednesday, July, 01, 2009 3:19 PM
Poor Gibbsee danced and pranced and
giggled his way around the questions posed by Chip Reid and Helen Thomas, my such transparency, such openness! Poor dolt he could not answer their questions!
Abraham Lincoln said: "You can fool some of the people, some of the time, you can also fool some of the people all the time; but you can't fool all the people all the time!" KayAnn falls into the "fool some of the people all the time" category!

Please, you need bed rest, Bush's press secretary's were snippy and Gibbs is so professtional. you lieing sack, Taking screened questions is not brave, seeing there is only one Jake Tapper and one Major Garrett,if they are not called on Obama would only get tough questions from Michele

Barry OWNS the current debacle. He stepped in it with the ALL Barry Commerical Network getting dibs on his health scam, and having the fix
for his presser questions by someone the 'main stream, ever so serious, intellectual, media
looks on with contempt as not being a 'serious' journalist. He messed with their HUGE egos..
Hee Hee. Brilliant that guy, just brilliant.

Gibb has the I.Q. of an Amoeba..so stuck on stupid he uh and ers as much as his boss.

You memory is pretty selective, dontcha think?

Some of my favorite political memories are of Tony Snow (God rest his soul) making minced meat of the White House Press Corp.

....funny you don't mention that......

Seem like ABC NBC and CBS fight over scraps like vultures, but which ever network is getting the biggest piece of Obama, or who ever is sleeping between Obama and Michelle, Brian Williams, the other two networks really shows how jealous they are, until Obama sez next wh*re in line hop in bed.

Tony Snow was the best. Watching Gibbs makes me realize even more how well Snow handled these briefings. He had class, he had style and I never remember hearing an UH, Uh. Uh out of his mouth. In fact he answer questions and made some of the people who asked idiotic questions look like fools. God bless him he was the best of the best that is for sure.

Gibbs on his mealy-mouthing double talk, but WHY doesn't someone call the liar (Obama) out on his lies?!

Oh, please. Gibbs is a joke as a press secretary. He can't say one sentence without "Uh, umm, ahh" making their appearance several times. He isn't qualified to carry Tony Snow's briefcase, God rest his soul.

And Odumbo won't "listen" to us. He won, remember? He will do whatever he wants and all of us serfs can go pound sand. Pin him down on his promises?? How has being able to read legislation for five days before he signs it been working out for you? Need I remind you of his promise that there would be no taxes "of any kind" on anyone who makes under $250,000 (or is it $100,000 now, I haven't been able to keep up with it)? The recent "knee cap and tax" bill is the largest tax increase in our history, not only on businesses but also on individuals, not to mention all the increased energy costs that everyone will be paying.

I know you are drunk on the Odumbo kool-aid and don't want to see or hear anything critical of your lord and master, but you really need to remove your cranium from your rectal region and see what's really going on. Stop taking what this snake-oil salesman tells you as gospel truth and do some independent investigation. You might just learn something.
Publius4254 writes: Wednesday, July, 01, 2009 4:16 PM
Sorry about that last
That should have been "tax increases", not simply "taxes". My bad.

Gibbs at loss 4 words more then ever,Ha
Corndog very funny. Yes, Helen sure sounded good, dancing around the choir! I think the deaf, dumb and blind to the truth crowds are starting to hear a whisper 'no we can't'! Mighty Mouth Obama has bit off more then he can chew! Our Child in Chiefs fictional, un'american words are finally starting to scare even his trusting fans. If not, nothing will scare them!

I'll bet that soon Gibbs' vocabulary will get worse. UH, Uh, Uh will take up 80% of the time. He will answer questions like what color tie Obama is wearing today, hows the dog and what's growing in the garden.

snit because of the 'plant' of the Huffington twerp at the last Bamster press conference. So, Gibbsy--who more and more reminds me of the doofus Scott McClellen--got the blast of their high chair pounding fury. His floundering discomfort is an extra hoot as he rightly expects the delicate Helen and the dorkus, Chip, to be in his pocket. Luv it.

Power Hungry Democrats
More examples are surfacing of the incredibly arrogant POWER HUNGRY democrats (and their money-grubbing tacatics) in what they are efforting to accomplish:

1.) The EPA is found to be suppressing substantive information, the motivations are obvious.

2.) Ezekiel Emanuel, brother to Rahm, wrote into the "bail-out" bill that only those companies declaring allegiance to the administration would be considered for any bail out monies. WOW!!! Smacks of Nazis, and Third Reich edicts.

3.) OBummer firing officials at the Inspectors General offices for no reason and without adhering to the "30-day notice" policy as instituted by democrats during the Bush administration.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-tc-nw-in spectors-0617-0618jun18,0,5718990.story

4.) Nancy Pelosi's strong arm tactics in getting many members of congress to vote last week on the "cap and trade" bill. Her methods were dubious at best.

This press room structuring is simply more of the low brow controlling of what is disseminated to the public. Sophomoric. Brought about by fear at the core of the administration.
foxmustang writes: Wednesday, July, 01, 2009 9:17 PM
We already have a
"teleprompter" POTUS.

Why not have a teleprompter press secretary also?

That has a lot of credibility, doesn't it?

EVERYTHING about this Presidency is scripted.

What's going to happen when we have a REAL international crisis?
Time out for a teleprompter set-up?

I hate to break it to ya, sugar, but there AIN'T
nothin' honest about this administration..it is
so loaded with criminals, cheats, liars, traitors and scum they make Al Capone (also a Chicago boy) look like a saint.

Barry can't/won't show his birth certificate, passport, school enrollments, in fact spending upwards of $800 k to ward off legal challenges.
In fact, hired a law firm as far back as 2005 to find sneaky ways to avoid the Natural Born Citizen clause in the Constitution. But not to worry, it is coming out drip by drip by drip and you, poor darlin' will have to get another job since soros trolls will be on the breadlines.
