The Coming Auto Bailout, Round Two
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 10:52 AM
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to meet with bigwigs from the Big Three automakers in Detroit today to discuss a forthcoming $50 billion loan program to help their struggling industry.

This would likely be included in the second economic stimulus package Pelosi has been calling for and has signaled she would like to call Congress back to pass in a lame duck session.

Automakers already got a huge boost from Congress earlier this year in the form of $25 billion worth of credits to help them "retool" their cars to become more energy efficient.

You raise some interesting points and I have to say that I agree. The unions had there place, but as someone who spent 4 years in the teamsters, they are a prime example of socialist leadership. Now they want to take away their members right to vote anonymously. So much for freedoms.

Right...
I must have been imagining it when Bush and Paulson came hat in hand begging for 700 billion dollars to hand out to Wall St. and it must have been a hallucination when Paulson bought the People's Insurance Company.

Yes. It is somehow all the fault of liberals. Barrack Obama must have used his secret hypnotic powers to convince Bush and Paulson to do these heinous deeds! It all makes sense now!!!

Do not buy union made
If you want to buy "American" - do not buy union made products until their membership, as expressed through their leadership, embraces constitutional principles of democratic choice, free markets and limited government.

I vote NO BAILOUT for the auto giants.

Union wages and benefits have sucked up what profits carmakers might have been able to devote to financial strength and research into efficient cars. If they want to keep their jobs, let the unions lend their pension funds to fund the bailout of their employers.

If they are unwilling to do that, then why should others consider it a worthwhile investment? Let them find new jobs in the real world where you have to negotiate your value with the person willing to employ you.

Dread
Dread Dream On, the party of pelosi, reid, obama, schumer are the ones with their fists in this cookie jar.

Socialism is alive and Well in the Dem/Lib Party, and you will see it even more clearly in the coming months!

The party of the Dems are pathetic!
Obama will head up the ignorance parade.

Who they gonna blame with all the control they have now?

We shall see.

Bush, Paulson, Pelosi, Reid...
Have already set the precedent with the People's Insurance Company (formerly AIG) and the investment bank bailouts.

Expect this to become the norm for most industries now.

Funny, I would never have expected a GOP administration to be the architects and foundation layers of socialism in America.

I'm torn on this one.......
I have always bought Ford, GM, and Chrysler products. These vehicles have always given me great service and it seems patriotic to me to buy American. Reality is....the USA could NOT have won WWII w/o GM, Ford, Chrysler and Harley Davidson. My dad was US Army and fought in that war. And if history interests you at all.......a lot of those Japanese and German autos that Americans buy.......are built by the same companies that built military vehicles in the 1940s to kill Americans and their Allies.
That being said.....it disgusts me the UAW assembly line workers flood Comrade Obama's campaign with PAC money to help elect him. Maybe they want a Socialist agenda.......most Americans don't. You support a candidate that you believe will benefit you, at the possible expense of alienating those who buy your products. The automakers' non-union employees and the dealership employees are not included in
I will continue to buy GM, Ford, and Chrysler, as my patiotism, and my belief we really do need these automakers, still overides my hatred of far-left politicians. Just my take on it...

New People's Automobile
in the works? Preliminary design drawings indicate that it is wind powered with an auxiliary key wound energy spring to be used when there is no wind. A standard accessory of the no frills auto will be a radio, permanently tuned to State Radio. It will also feature a GPS tracking system which will provide The State with information on the whereabouts of the car and its passengers. The two door sedan will be named the Amabo-1.
