If she were a democrat you'd all be shrieking "family values."
Sarah Palin did not have to say yes to John McCain. She could have acted in a manner more responsive to the privacy needs of her family during this stressful time for her daughter by turning down the VP offer.

Give me a break right-wingers - Here is a person chosen because of their moral compass, how the heck should she preach to the world when she can't even control her families "evangelical" needs. Her teenage daughter is pregnant out of wedlock and the best you can do is say candidates should be off limits please.....I need a become a candidate too so not to be responsible for my actions. You continue to amaze me and the hypocrisy of your views. Wow!!! Incredible. |

The vast wilderness of Alaska has given Palin a skewed view of the environment. She apparently sees no threat from unregulated industrialization and combustion of fossil fuel.
Palin's religious beliefs make her a poor steward of the Earth. (Try this on.)
Genesis has given her a dominionist attitude toward nature. Every creature is fair game to be shot, skinned, eaten, or stuffed and put on display, all with the blessing of her God. |
|
|
...keep drinking the Kool Aid. But besides, it has all been proven to be a lie and fabrication by people who will do anything to see their candidate of choice elected. |
|
mean NO CONTRACEPTIVES. (Try this on.)
Saying goodbye to Roe means saying goodbye to Griswold too. Send the issue of prohibiting any and all birth control back to the state legislatures. Let each state decide for itself whether condoms should be legal. Or birth control pills. |
|
"She apparently sees no threat from unregulated industrialization and combustion of fossil fuel."
From an environmental standpoint, neither do I.
"Palin's religious beliefs make her a poor steward of the Earth."
And your religious beliefs make you a poor candidate to take and sift through honest skepticism.
|
|
If she'd been Obama's daughter they would have been driving her to the abortion clinic so she would not be punished by having a child, while the entire Democratic Party led by Nancy "I KNOW Church History" Pelosi would be shaming MSM into keeping it hush-hush and "personal family business"-- you know, like how they handled Edwards and his "personal business".
And considering the filth I saw being spread on the Daily Koz regarding the baby of Gov. Palin, Give Me a Break and Stevie314159 need to ooze back over to that blog, which I am sure is bookmarked on both their browsers.
Get over yourselves. This is the 21st century. |
|
Every conservative would prefer that Bristol Palin were not pregnant, simply because that is putting the cart before the horse and makes for greater difficulties.
But given the facts, having the baby and trying to provide the child with a mother AND a father is the right thing to do.
Aborting the child or the mother not even trying to make it work with the father is when we would mention family values.
It is YOU who are a hypocrite.
Your transparent attempt to speak of 'privacy needs' as a NEW SUBSTITUTE for the unfounded insinuations that Sarah Palin was not the mother of trig is despicable.
"Have you no shame? At long last, have you no shame?" |
|
|
..ok, and so before you and your left wing buddies go around preaching about corruption you might want you candidate to directly deal with Rezko, Wright and Ayers, not lie about it. At least Palin has the integrity and candor to just come right out and address the issue, rather than just trying to sue, discredit and defame anyone who dares raise a legitimate issue. |
|
|
God Bless this GOP Ticket. McCain knew prior to picking Palin as his VP. This family is Pro-Life raised to the POWER of 2! First a baby with Trisomy 21 and now a grandchild of an unwed daughter. I am in awe of this GOP Ticket, Sarah Palin and her family. Obama, Pelosi and Democrats would have gone to Planned Parent Hoods and would not have let their "Daughter be punished with a BABY"! What like you were a Punishment to your Mom in 1961 BO. Remember Liberals...arack H. Obama was conceived out of wedlock by Ann Dunham when she was 18! see wikipedia! |
|
The new Democratic party is in full swing.
Dem's started a rumor that Palin's new baby trig was really her daughters baby.
This gets the slime bucket National Enquirer types who followed Edwards around to dig into Palin's children.
The rumor that was started was completely false, but they managed to uncover something else.
Do the Dem's realize that this puts Obama's brother front and center?
The democratic hate machine is in full force, and I can only hope it back fires, because it's not good for our country.
Obama's relationship with Ayers is fair game, but attacking children is wrong. The fact that the girl is getting married and is going to have the child only shows she is pro-choice and following her religous beliefs.

What we are preaching about is not that my sins are greater then yours, its that you are not god masquerading as a "right-winger". Come up with solutions to curtail unwanted pregnancies not this silly notion of we are just against abortions. All life is precious not just pre birth beings. Stop the corruption, genocide, poverty, going on everywhere. Stop the touching of pages. Do something besides saying left wing this and that. |
|
B:
You owe me an apology, since I was clearly talking about the true story that just came out last hour. Spare me your false outrage.
The rest of you can keep your theocracy to yourselves, thank you. |
|
"how the heck should she preach to the world when she can't even control her families "evangelical" needs. Her teenage daughter is pregnant out of wedlock and the best you can do is say candidates should be off limits"
'Control' her family? You might want to rethink that premise.
And Hugh didn't say that CANDIDATES should be off limits, he SAID that candidate's CHILDREN should be off limits. JUST as Obama's children are now.
Look in the mirror. Your partisanship is so great that you can't even respond to what is said. You're making it up as you go along. That alone should tell you that your thinking is warped. |
|
It will be refreshing to see a lady with flowers in the White House.
It will also be refresing possible to never see hillary clinton again.
Have a nice day if you are a republican and suffer through it if you are a left wing moonbat |
|
..no, it's a lie that Sarah Palin's baby Trig is her actually her daughter's. You're only outraged about family values because you and your buddies were busted on this concocted lie, so you're trying at half-a-loaf here.
And the real hypocrisy is that this issue is being made a "family values issue" by those who have no intent on keeping them, let alone seeing or thinking that their important. |
|
oblama himself is an illigitimate child and the screaming lefty loons want to try to make an issue out of Governor Palin's daughter being pregnant?
The king oblama, with all the king's horses, and all the king's men is struggling with great feebleness to avoid the unavoidable! Checkmate on every front!
Cheers, Don C |
|
You lefties really can't stand it when conservatives don't fit inside your tiny little boxes, can you. How nice it would have been for you "tolerant" hypocrites if the Cheneys had renounced their daughter, or the Palins theirs. Sorry, but we're not playing.
Your panic is showing, as more and more Americans see how pathetic and self-centered you all really are. Go back under your rocks. The rest of us will have a big party when Trig becomes an uncle. |
|
"Come up with solutions to curtail unwanted pregnancies not this silly notion of we are just against abortions."
You want a solution to curtail unwanted pregnancies? Inculcate in the young a belief that sex before truly getting to know someone is putting the cart before the horse. That its selfish, irresponsible behavior that can permanently impact a child's life.
"Stop the corruption, genocide, poverty, going on everywhere. Stop the touching of pages."
Corruption: Obama and Chicago politics... Genocide: What 'solution' do you offer? That we be the world's policeman? Poverty: Throwing money at it doesn't work. Try individual and familial responsibility. There's a reason why Asian immigrants succeed.
Stop the 'touching of pages'???
"Do something besides saying left wing this and that."
You oppose everything we try to do and the hypocrisy of the left accusing the right of 'labeling others' is TRULY breathtaking. |
|
Should be home seeing to the needs of her family.
But the Republicans here who are looking the other way on this are living up to the old lawyer trick.
If you have a case, pound the case.
If you don't have a case, pound the table. |
|
The real investigation in this matter is what type of involvement did the Obama campaign on this issue.
We have already seen the Obama campaign release shock troops on a radio station trying to limit free public speech...as well as threating Republican doners. Was the Obama campaign somehow involved in leaking info about Palin's children?
McCain has asked that all negative Obama speech be removed from speeches at the convention. He's trying to be positive and uplifting while Gustav is going on.
It appears Obama is creating his own SS troops for 2008. Fascism comes from the left, not the right.
|
|
It does NOT bode well for McSame. There's nothing "touching" about Palin's situation at homefront - what it shows us is this is a RW woman of abstinence-only values who failed to set an example at home with her own children. Whether this is the second pregnancy for this kid, and all indications point to that possibility, her parents have not done their job, in a manner that the RW so sanctimoniously tends to admonish others for.
What's continued to be revealed from the Palin "background" that McCain seemed not to vet in those two scant meetings, is the developing profile of a woman who lies a LOT, used her position as Governor in a manner that is currently under investigation, and seems to display a raw ambition that would trump the guidance needed at home for her teenaged pregnant and unwed daughter, and a tiny Down's Syndrome infant.
Oy. What a mess |

Only Catholism mandates "No Contraceptions". Per Wikipedia....see below.
"Religion: Palin was originally baptized as a Roman Catholic, but her parents switched to the Wasilla Assembly of God, a Pentecostal church, where she was rebaptized at age 12 or 13.[102] When she is in the capital, she attends Juneau Christian Center, another Assemblies of God church. Her current home church in Wasilla is The Church on the Rock, an independent congregation.[103] Although initial reports described her as the first Pentecostal ever named to a major party's presidential ticket, Palin describes herself as a non-denominational Christian.[104] The National Catholic Reporter described her as a "post-denominational" Christian".

that laws prohibiting birth control prior to Griswold were due to excessive influence by Catholics in state legislatures.
They were the result of religionists of all denominations.
Protecting morality by ensuring that pregnancy would punish the sinner. |

..has a different set of standards--one for those he likes and one for those he doesn't. It is called being "unprincipled."
The "descent" of the left? What a joke. The decline in America over the past three decades--the civic and moral erosion--correlates perfectly to the decline of the right.
And now you have a candidate, Palin, who panders to your every conceit. Look, she eats mooseburgers. Look, she rides snowmobiles. Look, she's a grandma at 44. What a ridiculous notion that she is fit for the highest office in the land.
We need leaders who bring us to our ideals, not pander to our conceits. Selecting her was an act of contempt. After all these years of electoral success, the Reeps, and their flunkies in the MSM, hold the American people in contempt. This election will show whether the American people are worthy of that contempt. |
|
If you want to know what Obama's camp had to do with this read little green footballs.
He traced the IP address of some of the sites that were started to smear the Gov. They went back to a the fight the smear Obama page. I have seen nothing about this.
If you remember LFG was the guy that busted Dan Rather.
After reading all the lefty junk out there going after her, I have decided to break out the Visa and make a max donation to McCain/Palin. |

God, what subhuman turds. |

Let's hear some credit for John McCain who decided to offer the Vice Presidency to the person he thought the best candidate despit the pregnant daughter.
He obviously knew it would come out, but he also felt that Gov Palin was still the best candidate and that she would be able to deal with the noise.
|
|
In the Obama family, Lerxst.
The woman preaching family values was obviously not keeping track of hers very well.
But, hey, they're calling her the next Reagan.
|
|
I've always known Obama would do whatever it takes to win (I am not accusing him of any wrongdoing in the Bristol Palin story--unless proof comes out).
I believe this will backfire on the left. It is fun to watch those who claim to be so "tolerant" be so completely and utterly intolerant! I love it!!!!! |
|
|
I can hear the stampede of independents heading our way as you drive them away from your side!!!! Good going. |
|
"Come up with solutions to curtail unwanted pregnancies not this silly notion of we are just against abortions."
There is a very simple solution that I would guess that you have no desire to teach. It's called: Keep it in your pants. Just because you don't think you can control yourself or you kids is no reason to blame others for your mistake or to expect others to be there to fix your problems without you taking some ownership of your screw ups. But here is where Ms. Palin shines. She is taking ownership of her and family's mistakes. She doesn't blame the government for not having a program to restrain her daughter. She doesn't claim that her daughter got pregnant because she wasn't "educated" enough - whatever that means, as teen pregnancy continues despite years of increased education. Sarah Palin shows you how people with integrity handle their problems. They don't going running to blame everyone else, they look in the mirror and take ownership.
"All life is precious not just pre birth beings."
Some of us like to call those "pre birth beings" unborn babies.
|
|
"Stop the corruption, genocide, poverty, going on everywhere. Stop the touching of pages. Do something besides saying left wing this and that."
Sin isn't a conservative or liberal thing. It's universal. I can point to Clinton just as easily as you can point to a certain senator in Idaho. Sin can only be treated and mastered through salvation in Jesus Christ.
That said, shouting your contempt of these things (things we all hate regardless of political persuasion) doesn't make it all better. There is no govt. program or politician that will end the corruption. Corruption begins to end when people start living a moral life, not just screaming for everyone else to live one. And part of such a life also includes having the restraint to stop railing against someone for what they believe, when they themselves have no intention of living as they do. |
|
|
That conservatives can be so completely and utterly tolerant. I love it. |
|
President Clinton used it. |
|
Patriotic Liberal, if you don't believe Sarah is unqualified you must believe that Obama hasn't yet finished high school.
The Left had better be extremely careful here. To continue to go after a baby's paternity and a young pregnant girl is not only distasteful but will mobilize those of us who are grandmothers, and mothers. Nothing brings out the tiger in us like going after our children...no matter what age they are. |
|
Correction: Barack H. Obama was Born on 8/4/1961 when his mother Ann Dunham was 18. Ann Dunham became Mrs. Barack H. Obama,Sr on 6 months prior to his birth on February 2, 1961. Ann Obama was born on November 29, 1942. If you do the Arithmatic 1961-1942- 280 days or 40 weeks gestational peroid for humas it mean that Barack's mother was 17 when she conceived him. Roe v. Wade decision was announced on January 22, 1973. Good thing or else Barack would not have had to Punish his Mother as her Baby! Right Back at the Liberals. The pre RvW Pro-Life movment in America saved your Candidate NARAL calls "Reproductive Justice"!

As a conservative Republican, I'm disappointed by the news of Bristol's pregnancy. With the resurgeance of teen pregnancy in this country, this is not a good role model for our nation's young and impressionable. And, frankly, it's a tad sleazy, and reminds me of the sad story of Brittney Spear's younger teen sister who just had a baby. There's a touch of the hinterland trailer trash about Palin that I find disturbing - all those guns, talk of killing critters, animal skins everywhere, and now teen pregnancy. I hope McCain and company will have a little "birds and the bees" talk with Palin and her family. There's been enough baby-making to last at least the next four years, so if Gov. Palin refuses to use any sort of birth control(and the couple can't control their own sex urges), maybe a little operation for her husband is in order. And speaking of husbands, it is imperative that Bristol and her boyfriend get married immediately before the baby is born, so their won't be more fuel for the fire of an "unwed teen mother giving birth in the White House". You see how optimistic I still am about McCain's chances! |
|
Actually, the Conservatives I know are tolerant. We love our children and our grandchildren and we know when someone is just trying to score political points by faking indignation.
I have NEVER in my life condemned a pregnant teenager, nor her parents (nor the boy involved). I am disappointed when they do not take responsibility and expect me to pay to rear the child they chose to keep, but never have I condemned their choice.
It is very ironic to me that if Bristol Palin had chosen to abort the baby, the US would not have known she was pregnant. She has chosen to keep the baby, so the left wants to condemn and heap scorn upon her and her parents. Proof that the only "choice" the left really supports is that of abortion. |

against running for 2-offices at once? Impossible for me to believe Slow-Joe would sacrifice a fall-back chance to be Senator for another hundred years...He is, I've heard, up for re-election this year..?? Delaware law...Anyone know both answers?? Knowing slow-Joe would be out of his 'Since the Earth Cooled' tenure would be way too DELICIOUS. |

"President Clinton used it."
I'm not a big fan of lying, covering it up and then blaming your opponents for getting caught.
I don't think that's a solution. |

is not limited to its own party personnel. It has ensconced within its ranks:
1.) Mainstream Media as evidenced by Dan Rather's feckless ploy to smear GWB with "typewritten" paper on his military service. Examples abound of this complicit press pathetique
2.) Academic elites as evidenced by the Noam Chomsky's, Howard Zinn's, Ward Churchill's and countless other Leftist academicians who push the party politic, the activist agenda, and the rewrite of historical perspective. Tsk, tsk, all of those maleable minds, and all of that pressure to perform for their Lion trainers
3.) Celebrity coterie and clique of "beautiful people" who foster smoke-and-mirror images for the masses of "little people" and help the cause in besmirching, ridiculing, denigrating, chastising, castigating, anything akin to conservativism.
Hollywood is its capital.
Euro-Land is its mecca of paradaims to aspire to; socialized medicine (Great Britain), socialized workforce (France), Proletarianism (Scandanavia) among other Lefty-loving causes.
The Democrats gleefully allow these other entities to do its bidding as is the case now with the "dismantling" of Sarah Palin. The MSM is in full-frontal on this one while the Donkeys are claiming, "not me!". |
|
Makes for a great comeback to my faux insensed Leftoid Friends...Ummmm, what about Bazama?!
Luv it. :-) |

Delaware is like Connecticut was for Lieberman in 2000.
And I hear that Palin wants to remain governor too. |
|
Spin this as a social issue all you want. Truth is, teens have sex and sometimes they get pregnant, with the best parents. Kudos to the Palins for dealing with it openly and maturely, although she may want to re-think that teaching abstinence only stance.
The real point here is how thorough a job McCain's team did in vetting Palin. Was this a deliberate and thoughtful choice on McCain's part or was he -- as he is famously known to do -- shooting from the hip as a reaction to the Democrat's successful convention. I fear the latter and I suspect there are a few more surprises from the Governor yet to come. Not good for the candidate who is marketing himself as the more experienced one. |

ANTI WOMEN PUNDITS ETC., NOW HAVE ANOTHER EXCUSE, FEEBLE/FAIR OR NOT, TO KEEP WOMEN IN THEIR PLACE! EXCUSE ME, WE AREN'T LIVING IN THE OLD FASHION DAYS WHERE WOMEN STAY HOME AND DEPEND ON THE MAN FOR SUPPORT! THE PERSONAL LIFE OF A POLITICIAN SHOULD BE OFF LIMITS! HOW LOW CAN YOU GO OBAMA-CANS? PRIORITIES ARE AMISS! WE DON'T THINK, LIKE YOU OBAMA, THAT HAVING A BABY IS PUNISHMENT EX DEMOCRAT
|
|
A private sexual matter brought into the public spotlight for reasons intended to injure and embarrass.
Involving gratification sans risk of pregnancy. |
|
You sound a whole lot like Obama to me -- Except in this case you are happy to "punish" the mother and her grandmother (Sarah) for choosing life... you want to throw them both out for welcoming a baby... By referring to "Hinterland trailer trash"... you sound an awful lot like James Carville and the Clinton White House attacking another young vulnerable woman... Why don't you admit it - you're a troll pretending to be a "conservative republican" Your only problem is that you don't "get" our values and fail miserably in your attempts to fake it.
Choose the "real world" over the surreal world: McCain/Palin '08!!! |
|
It appears that Palin's daughter having a baby is bring the Abortion issue front and center.
Obama voted for infanticide 4 times.
I think Hillary voters will split on this issue, and the dems continuing to bash Palin and even her daughter will swing Hillary voters to vote for McCain.
So, it looks like to me, dems are shooting themselves in the foot. The lefty's don't understand the Hillary voters, and that will cost them.
|
|
Way to play it, girl. Instead of focusing on the fact that Ms. "Barracuda" couldn't seem to guide her teenage daughter away from unwed pregnancy with abstinence-only cheerleading, or even being an involved and focused MOTHER at a time when her teen needed her most - a family values oriented viewpoint that the RW seems to think that only they possess - you go directly to the abortion angle.
First off, Michelle Obama is not the kind of mother who strikes us that would be so ambitious to leave her small kids in the care of others so that she may attain a lofty goal of VP. She IS the epitomy of what the the American dream of motherhood - teaching her daughters strength, beauty and intelligence by example. To suggest that the Obamas would choose abortion in the same circumstances as Palin's in is a grievously hateful assumption and one borne of extreme ignorance and meanness. The fact that Obama is pro-choice does NOT mean he approves of abortion, you ninny, which is why you and your fellow nutjobs are so wrong on this point. As a woman, you should know that McCain cares NOTHING about a baby's in vitro existence - only the idea of controlling a woman's ability to choose for herself and her own person. Being pro-life equates to an ugly form of repression for women and you are perpetuating it by backing the wrong concept on abortion. |
|
The leftists are reeling. Not knowing whether they are coming or going. Palin's daughter is being punished with a baby and she's not killing it - irresponsible! Her pastor actually sermonized on religion instead of politics - the audacity! She's too inexperienced! - as they promote a teleprompter-dependent Marxist without a relevant accomplishment to his name.
The laughs just keep coming. |

After perusing many, many sites of all political persuasions for the last few days, the foulness of so many minds on the left is in full display.
From a purely humanistic viewpoint, I suppose it shouldn't come as any great surprise given the shortcomings of man. As an American, it is depressing seeing so much puerile venom. As an opponent of the left, it is sad justice watching the self destruction of my political foe. As an individual, it reinforces my belief about where the bulk of decency resides in this country.
It is clear the left is orchestrating a concerted effort to "paint a picture" of SP that is unrelated to the individual. As she reveals herself to the country, I believe we will see someone quite different than that portrayal, one who to honest folks is every bit what she appears to be. That disparity will undo the left, and possibly irreparably fracture the D party IMO.

....Catholic Nuns and Priests for 12 years, and, "rhythm" was the only alternative to "no contraception". My Grandmother was from England, an Episcopalian, and she did not have any religious exclusionary mandates regarding contraception.
I hope all you condescenders out there are not spewing hypocritical debris. It would be unfortunate since many, many, many very devout families have been and probably will continue to be faced with the same or similar youthful indescretions as to their childrens actions. Perfection in life is non-existent: although, I have tried relentlessly, it has always eluded me.
Am I wrong, or was Sydney Dunham unmarried at the time Senator Obama was conceived????? |

Do we not know what the liberal response would be? Abort. That would be their primary answer. As to speaking out on morality, Sarah did say, get married. Most people will not be able to deny the humanity here.Liberal Dems cannot have it both ways. They are amoral on so many family issues that one cannot see how their shock is real and honest. It is a ploy to upset the rallying that conservatives and Indies have done already and the debate is on since the Left is dead set to destroy Sarah because they cannot stand the fact that she is effective and she has taken their worship away if there had been a Dem choice of a female for the VP. The Left is always threatened by blacks, females, Jews,Hispanics, even gays who vote and stand up for Republican issues. My guess is, Laura Bush is correct when she tells Dems not to smear Sarah for the sake of political points. |

Your obviousness has become tedious.
These flyby visitors who are clearly D hired guns/volunteers are easy enough to ignore, but your repetitious, mindless, tendentious scribbling is psychotic. |

I forget all the details, but didn't Billy Jeff get conceived in the back seat of an automobile in Hope, Ark, long ago? Some have thought it too bad that his mother didn't follow Obama's recommendation. Me, too. |
|
|
Has anyone thought to congratulate the Palin's on their first grandchild? Must everything be political to the Leftists - who see a baby as a punishment. I'm glad that their sick ideology is going to be on display for all to see. |

Great blog post on this issue:
"Bristol Palin is brave."
http://www.redstate.com/diaries/ben_domenech/2008/sep/01/br istol-palins-brave-choice-3/
"if (my daughters) make a mistake. I don't want them PUNISHED with a baby." - Senator Barack Obama.
The Trolls here are the cowards who prefer to punish Bristol and her baby. The Trolls here would abort Bristol's baby to abstain punishment, and if the baby was born alive during the abortion, the trolls here would put Bristol's baby into a closet to die - as would Obama.
Our hearts go to those victims of Gustav, and now our hearts go to Bristol Palin. Neither the victims of Gustav or Bristol deserve the pain from these unforeseen external events. I hope the good folks of this country provide hope and support to all of these victims.

....research and excellent post re: Obama's conception prior to his mother's marriage. |
|
BTW--not that any of you fever-swamp dwellers care, but Barak Obama said that this topic is, in his words "Off-Limits" and if anyone in his campaign played any part in all the rumor-mongering that led to this being made public, they were history.
And that is that.
You may now return to your mock-shock. I, in the meantime, shall return to laughing at you.

it not like the Palins raised their children in an anti-American racist church or something, or surrounded them with terrorist friends. Now that would be child abuse, punishable by the worst kind of social sanction, and certainly would disqualify one from the privilege of holding public office. But, that scenario is just too crazy. No one would be stupid enough to vote for a parent like that. |
|
Yes, there are liberals in the blogosphere that are as awful and censorious as those they accuse on the right. Actually, many liberals don't see The Daily Kos as a progressive site at all, but as cynical business op started by a FORMER REPUBLICAN who was in the army and thinks Reagan was a great president. The bullying tone of the site comes straight from Kos himself, a genuine socipath and political infant.
That said, the descent came from the right when you adopted Rush Limbaugh as your intellectual light, he who gave us such terms as "femi-nazi" and called Chelsea Clinton "the White House dog" while he accused a great quarterback of affirmative action and called rape, torture and sodomy at Abu Grahib a "frat prank." Your sick conscience resides in Limbaugh's hate, so please, spare us the outrage about decorum.
Can't you stick with Ann Coulter to attack 9/11 widows as harpies who should pose for Playboy? |
|
"That is that" - For you, I'm sure it is.
I don't recall anyone here stating this was coming from BO's campaign.
There is at least some evidence that blog activity regarding these rumors might be tied to BO's campaign, as referenced at LGF.
BO has to distance himself publicly from the feeding frenzy of his supporters because his handlers realize what the blowback on this will be. |
|
"... and called Chelsea Clinton "the White House dog" while he accused a great quarterback of affirmative action and called rape, torture and sodomy at Abu Grahib a "frat prank."
You do know that none of that stuff really happened. Don't you? |
|
|
Please. I challenge you to name one "progressive" site that has anything resembling decent, coherent discussion threads, that allows dissenting viewpoints without deleting them. |
|
Do not mistake me for a supporter of Barak. But I must "take him at his word" so to speak-- just like I foolishly took Bill Clinton, a president I had no real care for one way or another, when he stood up on live tv and said "I did not have sex with that woman--". It is the polite thing to do (until I get proof otherwise).
Meanwhile, let me state that I was prepared to hold my nose to vote for McCain-- when he chose Palin, I found that I would be able to vote my ballot without breathing through my mouth. My opinion hasn't changed with the fact that she is about to become a granny. :) |

the left could define deficiency any more downward, but indeed, they always find away, don't they. There is NO difference between the malcontents at the Daily Kos and the regular, leftists here at HH. Both groups feign indignation at the lose of life in Iraq, yet have NO problem with the murder of 60 million babies, which represents, the unspoken American holocaust. There is NO difference between this holocaust and the original, NONE. And oh no, they don't stop there, if a child can overcome the attempted murder in the womb, then they demand that the original intent of the accomplice in this murder, must be fulfilled. "By God, she wanted an abortion and she will have one". Right Barack. As if human life were no more than a malignant tumor, once removed then quickly discarded and left to die. There is no other way to describe this, but to call it ghoulish and far beyond ones ability to understand how someone could condone it and/or to practice it. This is your legacy, all you leftists, you own it, IT IS YOURS, and if not in this life, but most certainly in the next, there will be an accounting, and in that day, you will be the ones discarded, to a fate to horrible to even contemplate. And the only difference will be, that instead of dying, you shall be alive in this horror for all of eternity. |

"A private sexual matter brought into the public spotlight for reasons intended to injure and embarrass."
Yeah, these two equate. A president fooling around with an intern on the job equates to the DAUGHTER of a vice-presidential candidate's indiscretion. If Sarah Palin had been the one fooling around then then the issue goes from private to public.
So just how disappointed are you that Team McCain squashed your Daily Kos Kooks smear campaign? Sheesh.
"Involving gratification sans risk of pregnancy."
Yeah, you stay classy, Brigs. Keep grasping those straws. When you actually have a cohesive argument here, let us know. |

Great article from Time on Palin, Bristol and Wasilla:
http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1837862-2,00 .html
Nathan visited Wasilla, and reports:
"Sarah Palin is a longterm member of a group called Feminists for Life, which is not opposed to birth control."
Most folks in Wasilla knew about Bristol, and her baby was no big deal. I guess the Trolls here thought this was some sort of revelation :)

Deviant pseudo-conservative Andrew Sullivan has behaved in a fashion these past two days that provides a great deal of clarity to just how disgusting and intellectually dishonest a hack he has become. He has become nothing more than a smear merchant of the left in the same vein as the daily Kos. To spread vile rumors involving an underage girl indicate the depths of this twisted old fruitcake's depravity. |
|
Again the lefties are shooting themselves in the foot. They are becoming the neighborhood gossips and scolds of 17th-century Boston. Their target is a 17 year old girl whom they would persecute in order to get to her mother.
Disgust doesn't even begin to explain my contempt for those who would pursue this.

McCain knew Sarah was pregnant when he offwered her the gig.
As a McCain supporter, I am proud to be associated with a party that treats women with respect and as equals.
Now what party is the progressive one? |
|
|
Hugh always tries to put the best spin on everything. The truth is that everyone will know about this and it will help form their opinion about Palin. Most people will think of this as being a negative for a variety of reasons. Why McCain wanted to deal with this is beyond me. Is it a deal breaker? I don't know. It is one more straw for the camel's back though. |

"You do know that none of that stuff really happened. Don't you?"
What an insulated reality you live in. I watched Rush do this on his TV show. It's well-documented:
"Everyone knows the Clintons have a cat. Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is a White House dog?"
Limbaugh then showed up a picture of Chelsea. He said "Oops" and said it was a mistake. Which it was not. Only pinheads like Hannity claim it was a "mistake." So...you're wrong. It happened.
And yes, Limbaugh accused Donovan McNabb of affirmative action -- live on the air. That's why he's not on ESPN anymore. He's a bigot. So...you're wrong. It happened.
And yes, rape torture sodomy and murder at Abu Grahib. Documented. You missed the photos of naked men piled on each other? But here's what Rumsfeld said about this "frat prank":
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld paid a brief and dramatic visit Thursday to the notorious Abu Ghraib prison and told troops that the abuses of Iraqi detainees were a "body blow to all of us."
And there's video evidence that Seymour Hersh uncovered:
" Some of the worst things that happened you don't know about, okay? Videos, um, there are women there. Some of you may have read that they were passing letters out, communications out to their men. This is at Abu Ghraib ... The women were passing messages out saying 'Please come and kill me, because of what's happened' and basically what happened is that those women who were arrested with young boys, children in cases that have been recorded. The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling. And the worst above all of that is the soundtrack of the boys shrieking that your government has. They are in total terror. It's going to come out."
So...you're wrong. It happened.
Now, back to sleep America.

The long election cycle should have given voters one advantage: the opportunity for everything to come out and for the voters to digest it.
Many Dems must be suffering from buyer's remorse since the dye was cast FOR Obama before all the Wright/Pleger/Ayers/anti-Americanism caca came out.
After the initial euphoria, Barack was shown to be a phony. Not a bad guy, but not what he was touted to be. The Dems didn't manage expectations well.
Mack has raised enormous expectations for Palin. There has been immediate euphoria because of her unassailable courage and character--a different kind of politican--a breath of fresh air. If she is shown to be something other than that, she's toast.
This latest news doesn't help her story. |
|
If out-of-wedlock were such an issue for dems -- Oblahma wouldn't be sitting on the ticket ...
If parents were accountable for actions of children, Biden would be sponsoring legislation to bail out hedge-fund bumblers ....
As for Sarah Palin: We now have a candidate who faces the reality that thousands -- if not millions -- of American families have and will face. How refreshing that she and her husband approach this reality responsibly -- without attempting to hide, "remove" or deny it!
In case anyone wants to debate parental responsibilities, start here: if Barry Soetoro (aka Barack Obama) had HAD parents as supportive as Bristol's, his life might not have included such questionable characters as Ayers, Davis, Daley, Wright, radical Muslims, Arabian financiers, et al and he wouldn't have had to disappear for 2 yrs or so in Indonesia to "find out" who he was.
And I know sayin' "just sayin'" irks some of you libs -- so I'm just sayin'..............
|
|
We are with you until the end. Wither these attacks from the left and you will be stronger then ever. Obama knows this will only do damage to the ones who are attacking your family.
There is a grass movement growing within each hour for you GOV Palin. You are bringing an authenticity to this campaign that is shining through. You truly are our American women.

I've always said you don't need a brain to go to school in Westwood.
Thanks for proving it.... |

It seems to me that an entirely alternate solution to abortion, would be PRO CHOICE! Wouldn't choseing not to get pregnant be a viable solution. Using abortion for birth control is deplorable. Abortion on demand is murder, abortion for medical or extenuating circumstances is different. PRO CHOICE: Don't get pregnant
I very seriously doubt if Senater Obama or Biden would approve or condone these left wing PUPPY POOP ATTACKS, on Wiss Bristol Palin. McCain /Palin 08
Good night Hillary |

|
This is kinda like Dick Cheney legislating against his own daughter, a woman many on Townhall would treat like slime were she not Cheney's. |
|
|
Bristol Palin was knocked up by a liberal blogger! Quick! Someone do a paternity test on the Daily Kos! |
|
Look into the background here.
When Sarah Palin ran for governor, she was asked how they'd handle their (then) four children. She replied that her husband, who had been working off and on (extended commute) at the North Slope, would become a stay-at-home dad.
Then she was elected and went off to Juneau, which is hundreds of miles from Wasilla, a town near Anchorage. Her high school-educated husband, Todd, soon tired of the arrangement, and went back to the North Slope.
The kids were farmed out to friends and family. The eldest son, Track, joined the army. One daughter, Bristol, now 17 years old, became pregnant. The other two daughters, now aged 7 and 14, have been little of their parents. And there is more recently a fifth child, Trig, born with Down Syndrome.
Who is caring for these children? Who will care for them in the future? What about the new baby? Who will care for it?
I don't think this is exactly a great advertisement for Republican family values or personal responsibility. And if this had been the family arrangement of the Clintons, the Obamas, or the Bidens, the Republicans would be all over it. |
|
We can argue and allege all day, but this emailer's experience is real: The liberal who says "go ahead and have sex" and then condemns for pregnancy contrasted with the moralist whose approach is "hate the sin but love the sinner". That says it all!
Well, almost all. Obama's "punished with a child" completely finishes it off!
I'm inclined to ask, where do these people and their ideas come from. But then I realize how things work:
The fact about liars is that they eventually betray their own lies.
The fact about those who follow error is that eventually they have to get inconsistent, because they meet up with a reality that won't fit into their schema.
So if we wait long enough, the liars and fools defeat themselves.
Maybe McCain's best campaign approach would be to stay in the public eye only enough to keep Obama/Biden out there burying themselves. |
|
What Hewitt and his various commenters fail to note is Palin's praise for her daughter's "DECISION to have her baby."
Just as she touted her own DECISION to have her special needs baby.
Nowhere do I see it mentioned that this is a decision Palin is perfectly willing to deny every other woman.
|
|
"You want a solution to curtail unwanted pregnancies? Inculcate in the young a belief that sex before truly getting to know someone is putting the cart before the horse. That its selfish, irresponsible behavior that can permanently impact a child's life."
------------------
So how's that workin' out for the Palins?
|
|
Baathist prison did sustain all that you claim. Now, come in real close, Dweebo of Vacuous Mind. THOSE horrific Crimes were done with the full approval of Saddam Hussein, butcher extraordinaire. They don't happen anymore because of America and leaders with big brassy sets. The Hussein garbage was hanged and his sons were shot. The men who were tied down and forced to watch in indescribable horror as their young daughters were raped in front of them by Baathist Fiends, have seen--living or dead--their dead country come back from the Mass Graves.
Good God, you fecal dwelling loathsome Leftoids live in a hermetically sealed womb. Never do you expose your scrawny selves to the Unaccustomed Torture of Critical Thought. Pathetic. |
|
Let this one go; not a time for self-righteousness and moralizing about birth control, abortion and out of wedlock sex. It's a private family matter, and it really doesn't matter to me.
However, what does concern me is this: "Over the next weeks, Ms. Palin will be prepared by Mr. McCain’s foreign policy staff, led by Randy Scheunemann, for the vice-presidential debate with Mr. Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, who moves easily among heads of state." (http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/31/us/politics/31reconstruct.html?_r=1&oref=slogin)
That's the same Randy Scheunemann of the former Project for the New American Century (PNAC) who appears as a signator on a letter to President Bush on September 20, 2001 urging the "a determined effort to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq" regardless of any connection to 9/11. So McCain is different than Bush when it comes to foreign policy? He has a chief policy advisor who is an alumnus of the same group that brought us Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bolton, Wolfowitz, Armitage? Now, that does matter to me; it matters a lot. |
|
The Daily KOS hardly has a monopoly on liberal hatemongers. Here's a small sample of comments from the Washington Post:
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/09/bristol_pal in_is_pregnant.html?hpid=topnews
"We should demand a paternity test. How much you want to bet Mr. Palin is the father?"
"If it's true that Palin let her daughter be statutorily raped by a much older man, she should resign her nomination immediately."
"Hmm... I've been saying that all along. Todd Pail is the father of Bristol's retarded baby, Trig. Sex out of wedlock between father and daughter is a common practice here in Utah...I imagine in Alaska too. We need to investigate."
"P.S. The younger daughter is hotter. Hopefully she will follow in big sis' footsteps."
"Bill that retarded new born is actually Willow's baby."
"With this news of Palin's daughter having sex with all these men in Alaska we must ask ourselves before voting for McCain/Palin if we really need anymore postitutes in Washington."
"Thanks GOP.. You now have put the poster family up for white trash in line for the presidency, whats your next move?"
"I think there is no doubt but that Bristol is Trig's mom. I think that there are only two possibilities:
1. This is Bristol's second baby. Mom and Dad agreed to bail her out for baby #1. But Bristol is gonna have to get married for baby #2."

Michelle Obama DID leave her children for a big fat cushy job that probably pays more than VP. Anybody remember that TV show with Geena Davis as 1st female POTUS that flopped? The libs tried to fantasize a "Sarah Palin" out of whole cloth and now that we have the real McCoy their heads are exploding.
Think maybe we've struck a nerve here. |

I have to congratulate BO who stated today: "I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people’s families are off limits, and people’s children are especially off limits. This shouldn’t be part of our politics,” the Democrat said forcefully. “It has no relevance to Governor Palin’s performance as governor, or her potential performance as a VP. And so I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories,” he continued.
The candidate who himself was born to a teenage mom, reminded reporters, “You know my mother had me when she was 18, and how a family deals with issues and you know teenage children, that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that’s off limits.”
Here is the Link to his statement: http://embeds.blogs.foxnews.com/2008/09/01/obama-says-palin -pregnancy-off-limits/ Now if could get BO to stop pushing against the Born Alive Infant Act and let us Doctors save those Children that are born alive after an prostaglandin-induced and saline-induced Botched Abortions and other Infanticidal procedures like Partial Birth Abortions! Also Please don't kill your Grandchildren if on of your Beautiful daughters ever gets pregnant. If may be a mistake but it is even a bigger mistake to kill your Grandchildren. God Bless you Sir |
|
Salty Alaskan asked:
"I don't recall anyone here stating this was coming from BO's campaign."
I did a little search on the word "campaign" and found this:
Robert writes: Monday, September, 01, 2008 1:30 PM
"The real investigation"
"The real investigation in this matter is what type of involvement did the Obama campaign on this issue."
So, there you have it, someone blaming Barack Obama's campaign. |
|
|
By the way, I would think that good Christians would prefer to vote for "Blessed Good" Obama over "Customer of Prostitutes" McCain. |
|
|
Seventy-five years ago this past May, a young couple got married in their parish church in Rhode Island under similar circumstances. My mother, who will celebrate her 75th birthday next month, was born five months later. I thank God daily that all this happened four decades before Roe v. Wade. |
|
because it is news.
The conservatives should know that when you set yourself up as a moral beacon, as it were, when you stumble it has less to do with liberal bias in the media than it has to do with the fact that it's the essence of NEWS. Man bites dog.
Sarah Palin stepped forward and made a statement to the media. Now, people wonder why it's getting duly reported.
It's too bad the kid ended up in the middle of it. But blame the Mom. She knowingly steps into the public eye and puts her daughter through this.
Gotta wonder about that kind of judgement.
|
|
I have to agree with you.
I would hope that we would all agree that it's difficult for a 17 year old to be pregnant, and most 17 year olds would not want to be in the public eye during that experience.
Perhaps Bristol Palin welcomes the publicity, but I would bet against it. I have to question the judgment of John McCain for choosing to open Bristol Palin to international scrutiny in this way. |
|
d'Brit "You want a solution to curtail unwanted pregnancies?Inculcate in the young a belief that sex before truly getting to know someone is putting the cart before the horse. That its selfish, irresponsible behavior that can permanently impact a child's life." ------------------ Skylark, "So how's that workin' out for the Palins?"
I guarantee you it's going to work out a whole lot better for the Palin's AND the child...than it will for the victims of Obama's infanticide condoning vote... |
|
|
...because Republicans don't have double-standards... |
|
The moment Obama made his kids part of the campaign awhile back, he regretted it immediately and said it wouldn't happen again.
You call a press conference, make a statement to the media about your daughter and now it's the media's fault that Bristol Palin is making news and generating commentary?
Off the mark, completely.
It's BS. Sarah Palin made here daughter a news item. No one else.
|

|
I am truly sorry that this issue should even be in the news! It is despicable and disgusting of the Democrats to even bring this up! This is mud throwing of the lowest order! Why should we even care if the teenage child of one candidate or another makes some mistake or another!? Did the national discourse sink so low that within a few days of a candidate being announced the Dems send their hit-men to "dig dirt" on him/her or his/her children and this actually flies as good politics?!! Why don't they confront Palin on issues and her own character instead of her teenage children?! And meanwhile Obama's stinking relations with an assortment of corrupt and unsavory people is treated as nothing important and skips a thorough scrutiny of the Media!! Why Palin's teenage daughter is fair game but Obama's own stinking deals are not? It is really annoying and disgusting and if there is any justice in this world and any sound judgement in the American people Obama and his cronies in Media should pay dearly for this disgusting and low attacks! What monsters!! |
|
|
Holy $hit the left hates this woman! That should tell all us conservatives we struck a nerve. The dimwit bounce is gone and they see eight more years of Republican rule (McCain-4/Palin-4). LOL. |
|

See nima's post, at 6:58. |

An armed mother-of-the bride and the whole country watching.
Now THAT's what I call a shotgun wedding! |

In fact, of all the candidates mentioned at various points in time for McCain, only Bobby Jindal fits the maverick/reformer image as well as Sarah Palin. This is why Jack Kelly - an incisive columnist at my hometown paper and certainly no fan of identity politics - was trumpeting her back in June.
Second, the issue of Palin's qualifications is complicated. The left is enthusiastically attacking her credentials. The right is just as enthusiastic in its defense. There's no clear-cut winner here. If she were clearly unqualified, McCain would not have selected her. If she were clearly qualified, she probably would have been the GOP's presidential nominee.
Here's my take on her qualifications. Historically speaking, she has enough experience to be veep. We can talk about what happens if McCain drops dead on day one, but that sounds tendentious to me - like asking what President Obama would do should Vladimir Putin declare World War III on the day of Obama's inauguration. It sounds smart to people already set upon voting against Obama, but everybody else will probably just roll his or her eyes.
Does this mean her qualifications will be a non-issue? Not necessarily. She has fewer qualifications than most veeps, that's for sure. Her thin resume could hurt her if and only if she performs badly on television. This, and nothing else, is what matters. The people who could vote Republican this year will give her a chance. Jonathan Alter, Andrew Sullivan, and other pro-Obama commentators in the MSM are not going to sway these people, at least not directly. These analysts could frame the persuables' reactions should they decide they don't like her. So, it's up to Palin.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/horseraceblog/2008/09/what _the_heck_is_mccain_up_to.html
Read the whole thing. Good stuff and exactly right.
|
|
right nima?
You have a daughter going through a difficult time, and you put your career ambitions ahead of that?
Obama has done nothing. For him it's off limits. Good for him.
"I am truly sorry that this issue should even be in the news!"
When you issue a press release, guess what? -- it ends up getting reported.
|
|
There is no inconsistency. It is a DECISION because currently abortion is legal. If Roe Vs Wade was overturned than a different response and language would be necessary. |
|
|
Mccain's pick of Palin is the final nail in the coffin of the influence of the religous right and a sending of the conservative philosophy to the wilderness. After spending months claiming Obama is dangerously unprepared to face down the threats of this country Mccain picks someone even less experienced than Palin. Oh wait, I forgot, Palin is prepared to face down Putin through her experience in the PTA deciding what meals to serve the children, as Mayor of a town of 6,000 where her biggest decision was what type of salt rock to buy to salt the roads, and as 18 months of Governor where she had numerous diplomatic contacts with Russia because they are so close. The conservative philosophy has been exposed for what it truly has become, a party that is compeltly beholden to the religious right and one without any principle whatsoever. |
|
Rat, Please don't try to shift the blame from where it belongs and don't pretend that the Obama's malicious machine had nothing to do with this!! What do you want palin to do when already the most despicable and dirty rumors were flying on left-wing blogs about her and her daughter?! If they have not been throwing such disgusting mud she would not have had to announce it to put things on the table once and for all! And if you are naive and silly enough you might believe Obama's pretending that he considers this issue "off limit" while at the same time sends his attack dogs and hit-men on the left wing blog world to destroy Plain at all costs and with all methods, but I think the majority of American people are not as easily fooled as you! This was a dirty calculated attack and was orchestrated clearly by Obama people and the left wing media to push this poor family to lay in the open all their private affairs in order to stop their mud bombardment! They were left with no choice! And why should Palin, a talented and wonderful person keep away from the public service because of an irrelevant family issue which should not have been even mentioned if the Left had any dignity left! This kind of stuff never seemed to detour Hillary or any Left wing politician from participating in politics! Now, does it? I am personally happy that Plain chose to participate instead of hiding away because of this very irrelevant event in her family which is no one's damn business if the Left wing blogs don't make them public property over night!
|
|
Rat,
Don't shift the blame here from where it actually belongs which is with the Obama's attack dogs on the Left wing blogs! If they get their way any decent person in the politics whom they don't like should hide out from the fear of their ruthless and unprincipled smears towards their children and their family since no one is 100% perfect and can guaranty the perfect behavior of his or her kids and extended family!!! Don't you see? This is their tactic and way of keeping out and scaring away those whom they don't want in politics! Why should Palin or anyone else should run away from their sick bullying and hide from a public office and hand them a stinking victory?!! |
|
|
Is there any doubt which family this baby is more blessed to born into? In the Obama family the baby most likely gets aborted. In the Palin family the baby gets an opportunity to be born and loved to live a full life. |
|
Give me a break, you take the cake.
You deride Governor Palin because her daughter is pregnant out of wedlock. When did you leftards ever care about morality? I'll bet you said nothing except "right wing conspiracy, right wing conspiracy" when slick willy was getting a job right under his desk while supposedly conducting foreign policy. What a loser.
You know, I haven't heard Governor Palin preach at your precious lack of morals at all though. She's too classy for that and knows it is smarter not to cast one's pearls before swine.
Then you say all life is precious. Yes, to those who are pro-life it is. But not to you pro-aborts. How dare you even mention life is precious when people just like you are responsible for the deaths of tens of million of unborn babies since that unconstitutional Roe vs. Wade was passed. Did you know Roe is now a pro-life protestor and speaker against your hypocritical lies.
You say conservatives shouldn't say anything against your America hating first lady wannabe. But then you turn a blind eye when your kooks attack a 17 year old pregnant out of wedlock. I'm sure you are very proud of yourself. What a hypocrite!
You and all your ilk are corrupt and perverse in all your ways. Your irrational arguments remind me of a bumper sticker another irrational pro-abortionist had on their car some years ago.
"If you can't trust me with a choice, how can you trust me with a baby?"
Oh my, that is a hard one. You twit, if you consider a baby to be a "choice", that is exactly why I would not trust you with a baby! |
|
Obama's mother 18, pregnant first then married Obama's papa! or did they? And this is how many years agooooo? Then Obama's real father, how many wives did he have? hmmmm...? Family values? Obama's Brother living in a tiny, little hut, in less than a dollar a month, met twice, in 2006, still living in poverty, after saying we are our brother's keeper! Family values on the left! Quite a Different angle! Sarah Palin, does represent middle America, a little of every-ones family, yes, even the conservative, Christian families, we have childrens that might make mistakes, they are humans, have neices that kept their teen-babies, married their boyfriends. Sarah Palin, does represent a little of all of us. She is a hockey mom, I am a hockey mom. She is the mother of a young brave soldlier going to Iraq. Her husband is a union-man. She is a proud mother of a Down-syndrome child, believes, all children are Gods gift, conservative Christians relate to that. As I said she is perfect candidate, the more you attack her, the more you are attacking middle America. Plus, she has more executive experience, than Obama. Her reform resume in Alaska is formidable, she was councilwomen, then mayor of Wasilla, before she became the Governor of Alaska. |
|
|
God help us if the likes of these barbarians and Obama are given power. Such unprincipled bilge and hypocritical posers should never be trusted with power. |

..a great scene from a great movie. Do you remember the voice under narrative comment Dustin Hoffman made when Custer asked him about the Medicine Tail Cooley?
"..ah had him.."
Probably what John McCain and his staff have been saying all along. |

You really need some lessons in reading comprehension. Neither of those posts claim BO's campaign was behind the muck.
The only credible information I've seen regarding this is at LGF, and even that doesn't make a direct link.

Uh...Senator Obama's daughters are 10 and 7. I hope that we all can agree it would not be a good thing for anyone involved if either of them were pregnant at this time. |

Salty Alaskan, they most certainly do.
Next you'll be claiming that up is down. How is it possible to have a serious discussion with someone who denies the obvious? |

better after reading your rebuttal to Angel66.

"And why should Palin, a talented and wonderful person keep away from the public service because of an irrelevant family issue...."
Amazing. A 17-year-old girl who needs her mother is just an irrelevant distraction. A bump in the road to advancing The Agenda.
Within the realm of acceptable losses.
|
|
Rat,
Bristol needs her mother and she has got her mother and she is supporting her and it is non of your or my business to tell her how to handle her family affairs which if not for the shameless leftists you and I wouldn't have known about it to put our nose into it and sit in judgement! But this issue is irrelevant both to the campaign and election and is not anything that should effect the matters of this country and is nothing to disqualify a candidate or have any effect on the quality of her public service. So it should not detour her from participating. It is just a family matter. That's all! The mud throwers and dirt diggers on the left went for it and always go for this sort of thing to scare conservatives and force them into hiding out of the fear of having their families smeared!! This is simply bullying and blackmailing conservative potential politicians into silence and hiding! But I am very happy that Palin was "Man enough" not to run away from the bullies! |
|
You're kidding, right? The first post refers to investigating whether or not BO's campaign was involved, the second says "if it is true".
This is pedantic nonsense, but again, you need some basic reading comprehension rather than wishful thinking.

To Liberals who care so much about Appearances and apparently cuting and running on everything including responsibilities for your personal actions....Life is full of Challenges. If you are a winner you stand and fight, taking the heat no matter what confronts you. What has happened to 50% of America? It is like Europe which is dying as they have a low birth rate that will not sustain their population.
Have you ever considered that the Palin Family saw this as a personal Challenge as an opportunity to live out their Personal Christian Faith....it is in keeping with the their previous actions....Trig was a child born with Trisomy 21 and this was known to them. They did the right thing in their minds with Trig and they are lovingly doing the right thing with their daughter's pregnancy! Of Course Liberals will not get it. This is a message from on High that Abortion is wrong. If Abortion had been around in 1961 when Obama was born their is a good chance he might not even be here let alone the Democrat Party Nominee. BTW...Jesse Jackson was born to an unwed mother too. God writes straight with CROOKED LINES! |

I was disappointed when McCain clinched the nomination, but now I'm thinking he may be a genius. Kudos to Obama for saying the right thing, both morally and practically. But I swear, the more people talk about experience and morality -- the better. This is conservative territory for this election. The aggressive lefties will not be able to resist these topics... and its all off-message for Obama and generates sympathy... and people will defend the family who is handling a tough situation with grace and humility.
Granted, Sarah will have to look solid & strong in the media, but if she stands tall, the effect will be great for McCain.
What amazes me, though, is that liberals genuinely believe that religious conservatives hate sinners & that we all now have to go church-lady & condemn everyone. Especially the libs posing here as conservatives. I know "my" people & I can spot a phony from a mile away. Some liberals have created such a mental caricature of us... if they ever wake up to reality it will be quite an epiphany for them. Yes, we actually feel love & sympathy for kids who make mistakes. |

Alright FBear please pay attention. When Hawkeye said:
Is there any doubt which family this baby is more blessed to born into? In the Obama family the baby most likely gets aborted. In the Palin family the baby gets an opportunity to be born and loved to live a full life.
He wasn't saying anything about trying the stupid stunts you libleft moonbats are employing to attempt to discredit Palin and he certainly said nothing about the Obamessiah's daughters. He was just making the point if a baby is conceived to a girl in a leftlib moonbat family that baby may very well never see the light of day because such people are morally dull enough to believe a baby is a choice.
However if a baby is conceived, illegitimately or not, to a girl in a practicing Christian or other moral family, that baby will be born and nurtured to as full a life as possible.
Now, was that really so hard for you to understand? |
|
"If not for the shameless leftists you and I wouldn't have known about it to put our nose into it and sit in judgement!..."
She ISSUED A STATEMENT....about her daughter.
It wasn't about shameless leftists. She did it. Can you understand that?
Her daughter was pregnant. Good judgement would have had her opt out this cycle. Stay with her family, live to fight another day.
She made herself, and her daughter, fair game.

A hat tip to you. It is a pleasure reading teh clarity of yoru thoughts. I do hope you stick around. Happy Labor day. |

Thank you for the Hat Tip and one back at you. Thanks for the invitation & U bet I'll stick around as it is a place perhaps change some hearts with the Grace of God. Half of America has been anesthetized by the errors of Liberalism and I want my fellow Americans to be awakened from the Noxious Oxide they have inhaled. This is a good forum to help prevent America from morphing into Europe which is on Life Support Systems! Spain where my Parents are from has a Birth Rate of 1.1 per Woman of Child Bearing age and each generation is cut by 50%. So much for Liberal Progress, Birth Control and Abortions. Spain is fast becoming the fabled Al Andalus again just OBL wants. Like Spain many other European countries are on the same flight path. For me, America is indeed the "Last Best HOPE!"... |

Okay, nobody stated that this was coming from the Obama campaign, they just strongly suggested it. My apologies.
Meanwhile, doesn't it seem absolutely bizarre that Sarah Palin chose to refute the rumors of her son actually being her daughter's son by disclosing her daughter's pregnancy?
She could have, you know, released HER OWN medical records, thus maintaining her daughter's privacy. Then she pulled the victim card--the rumors FORCED her to disclose her daughter's pregnancy. That's absurd and pathetic and reprehensible.
And, gee, how about if, when asked to be John McCain's running mate, she had said to herself, "Self! The best thing for all concerned is to not put my daughter through having this disclosed around the globe." |
|
You, and I, have no idea what would happen if on of Barack Obama's daughters became pregnant at 17. I suspect, as John McCain said he would do, Barack Obama would support the daughter in whatever choice she made.
But it's all just speculation and assumption. And worth less than what we flush down the toilet on a regular basis.
Of course, we could go one more step, and speculate on one of the children ending up gay. In that case, it more than likely would be far better to be in the Obama family, although Republicans sometimes are okay with their own children being gay, they just don't want other gay children to have equal rights. |
|
You are so disingenuous. There is no suggestion either, only questioning if it is true.
As for suggestion, you are the one here suggesting truth to despicable rumors and ascribing deviant motivations to actions.
Get a clue, get some honesty and get some class.

Hugh headlines this with his standard hit at the MSM, but someone help me here with the timeline. Did the MSM report this before Palin released her statement? If not, what was the MSM supposed to do, ignore the press release?
Also, let's be real here. Palin could not possibly have believed that the fact that her 17 year-old daughter was pregnant out of wedlock would not come out. As my wife pointed out, if you look at the photographs, Bristol is holding her baby brother with a blanket hanging down to conveniently disguise the fact that she is five months pregnant. Isn't that a form of subtle deception? Obviously, once they put Bristol in the picture, McCain and Palin had to know that this could not remain a secret forever. Either they were going to put her in hiding, or it would become impossible to hide the pregnancy.
You can say it's none of our business all you want, but now that we know, doesn't it cause you some pause: I mean, would you do this to your daughter?
And those of you who believe this bit of news will be good for McCain, I'm afraid you have drunk the Kool-Aid. You should get out of your right-wing echo chamber. You can defend it all you want, and McCain might win DESPITE this bit of news, but to try to spin this is good for the McCain campaign is ridiculous.

If anything, this proves that abstinence does work. If she would have abstained, she would not be pregnant. Abstinence is 100% guaranteed to keep girls from getting pregnant and STD free.
The problem is that this young girl did not follow the tenants of that education.
Nobody that supports abstinence education believes that by teaching abstinence only, kids will abstain. They will be more likely to have sex if you teach them there are alternative ways to avoid getting pregnant and make them available. Other than pregnancy, there are emotional and physical consequences to a pre-marital sexually active lifestyle, especially when you decided to get married and have had many sexual partners.
This girl made poor decisions and got pregnant. That happens regardless of what the parents teach or believe in. The real story is what everyone involved does in response. Obama said that if this happened to his daughter, he would not want her to be "punished" with a baby meaning he would encourage her to abort.
The Palins have demonstrated accountability and integrity. Sarah did not hide it. She said she would love and support her daughter and this child. Bristol has taken responsibility. The Left, especially Obama, would encourage and fight for her right to abort. She is going to marry the father to provide this child with the best possible chance for a normal life.
This is a testament to the love and family values of the Right and the hypocrisy of the Left and the hatred in their hearts. Their instinct is to attack this family and say nasty things about them. Family values and pro-life do not mean Conservatives and Christians are perfect. Everyone is a sinner. Family values are demonstrated in how peeople react to the consequences of sin.
We have heard how Barack Obama would deal with the "punishment" of a baby. Now we see how the Palin's deal with it for a second time.

Brett,
If people who promote abstinence only education recognize that kids are not going to abstain, what is the point? I agree with Obama. If my daughter makes a foolish decision and has pre-marital sex, I don't want her life disrupted with an unplanned pregnancy. I want her to have the knowledge and means to prevent such a pregnancy, so she wouldn't be punished by having to take on the responsibility of a baby before she is ready. I've had friends in this situation, and while most of the time the babies involved didn't suffer much, it was always really sad for the young parents who had to give up so many of their plans and dreams.
I certainly don't blame Sarah for her daughter's mistake, and I don't condemn Bristol for her mistake. But I do think it was a mistake for Bristol to become sexually active at a young age, although quite an understandable one. |
|
You people on the left are all about "rights" aren't you until the rights of someone else interferes with your precious "rights." The time to make a choice about pregnancy if you don't want to be is before sex. What have we come to when we consider our rights more important than our children's rights.
Tabbitha, you speak of knowledge and resources. To do what? If you mean the knowledge of how to kill that helpless human life before the little boy or girl inconveniences your child I have to question your character, because I can't understand how any human being can simply say of another I have the "right" to kill you. You see, that is the problem of the language of "rights" when divorced from moral standards. Without moral standards even murder can be made to be a "right."
Once a responsible person finds they have a new little life they must recognize to some degree their rights have just become secondary. My life may be disrupted but now there is another I must think of. You see, it is people just like that who think of the good of others (murder never being good for others) that build a healthy, community. Others can only build a land with a culture of death!
The latest hero of the lunatic left, Barack Obama said deciding when a conceived baby should have civil rights was a decision above his pay grade. Well, if that's the truth he is completely unqualified to be President of the United States. After all, he will be appointing judges to the Supreme Court who will certainly make those decisions. What standard will he therefore apply to decide whether those judges are in any way qualified to decide that. Of course, we now know "The One" was lying when he made that comment at Saddleback Church. He has already voted to kill children born alive after a botched abortion. So he not only supports Abortion on demand but also supports infanticide.
|
|
Fbear, you like all your buddies on the libtard left have a real tough time with arguing anything on the merits. Your canard of trying to equate not giving special rights to homosexuals with those of us who believe everyone from conception is endowed with certain inalienable rights, beginning with life, is nothing more than an attempt to obfuscate the real point. No one is talking about depriving homosexuals of their lives. You leftists are particularly talking about depriving unborn little boys and girls of their lives when you support abortion or those who do.
Sarah Palin and her whole family are doing their best to live their lives in accordance with their Christian faith. You cynics on the left will never understand that, and therefore in your belief you are superior will denigrate them. That does little more than prove you have no class and no decency. But the issue in this election this discussion speaks to is abortion, the murder of the unborn, and whether it should be allowed.
I have a question for all you lunatics on the left. If you, as your hero says for himself, believe you haven't the understanding to decide when a baby should have civil rights, why don't you err on the side of life? After all, you do want a society that values life, don't you?

I certainly AM a Republican and the good old-fashioned kind that thinks sex before marriage is WRONG! Whatever happened to the Christian Right's abstinence bandwagon? Truth is,this makes Palin look like a bad mother who had too many things going on in her life, and was not doing a good job as some sort of super mom, juggling governor duties and family life.I mean, look at this family objectively - there's babies popping out all over the place! It's very unseemly for a woman of Palin's age to become pregnant in the first place. It's not as if this was her first child, and she was going for fertility treatments, which is usually the case when a woman is pregnant and over 42. Now, both mother and daughter will have infants together - Trig will be the new baby's uncle! Sheesh, it brings to mind the old novelty song, "I'm my own grandpa"! |
|
You are so pathetic and vile in your thoughts it almost feels like a waste of time to answer such insensate garbage. The only reason Palin had to issue such a statement regarding her daughter is because a bunch of vipers on the left decided to start rumor mongering about the parentage of Palin's youngest son Trig. Who cares you arrogant a$$?
Listen, it was your Obamessiah who said his America hating wife and her statements were off limits. Yet you consider the lives of Palin's children to be fair game. What kind of a vile, piece of garbage would speak such hypocrisy with a straight face.
People like you are those who would tear down a society. Those like you are indeed the practitioners of the politics of personal destruction. God help us if Obummer is elected, because with people like you doing his bidding for four years, there won't be a United States left to rebuild. At least not one we would recognize. |
|
Does Hewitt "applaud" Palin for thrusting her pregnant teenage daughter on the national stage?
Does he "applaud" her for CHOOSING to accept a position on a national ticket, knowing her daughter, who was facing the most difficult crisis of her young life, would be subjected to intense scrutiny by the media and others? That she would be humiliated when the news came out...even if it came out with the birth of her child?
This is a woman who cynically chose to further her political ambition at the cost of her daughter's well-being. Shame on her.
And shame on McCain for choosing her.
|
|
Who made you the judge as to whether a married woman of 42 years old should become pregnant and have a child or not? I think that is the choice of that individual woman and her husband, no one elses.
As to her daughter, let you who are without sin cast the first stone. Have you never had a child who committed sin and needed forgiveness and help to move forward? Have you yourself never committed sin and needed forgiveness???
You claim to be a Christian and I'm in no position to judge. But I think you'd better study up real hard on judgment, grace, and forgiveness, because you sound more like one of Job's friends than one who knows he has been redeemed by the One who gave His life, taking our sins upon Himself, that we might find forgiveness and life, in place of the death we deserve; Jesus the Messiah. |
|
You leftists fascinate me, even while you repulse me. Your own Obamessiah proclaimed his America hating wife and her statements off limits and you applaud that as being so correct and high minded. You say, he's just defending his family.
But then, when it comes to the children of the VP candidate of the Republicans you say that's fair, those children are fair game. You are indeed the poster children for hypocrisy.
Let me see then, if we use your logic (a dangerous thing to do to use the logic of one so witless as you), maybe what we should say is Obama was selfish and not thinking at all of his poor wife who would be dragged through the mud if he ran for President. After all, he must be a selfish oaf who didn't consider his wife and children's needs (wow, wasn't that audacious the way he paraded his children to the public), to even consider running for President, because he knows those awful right wingers will be gunning for him. He should drop out right now. And shame on you dumbocrats for voting for him.
No, you cynical fool we see right through you. You have no concern for the Palins or any of their children. You are just afraid. You don't want Palin because you are fearful a McCain/Palin ticket will defeat your dimwitted Odopey and his silly sidekick Bidet.

Rat, I think powledge answered your phony arguments strongly! You say the teenage children of a candidate are fair game?!! Do you actually believe that? Shame on you if you really do! You rather our political discourse turn to a childish unsubstantial soap opera?! If you and the like of you had a drop of dignity you would direct your anger to the direction that it belongs i.e. rumor mongers and leftist character assassins! You should have felt embarrassed that such a dirt is coming from your side of the isle and you would have done everything to shun rebuke those who dared to disrespect a families privacy like this!
But to you if a person (mother or father) dare to run for public office (especially on a Republican ticket) then the private actions of their children (even when they are perfectly legal) will become public property and fair game? Beside which part of this you don't get? Before Palins had to issue any statement their poor daughter's pictures were already floating on the Internet and this poor girl's "baby bump" was being "analyzed" on the leftist blogosphere and the most vicious and vitriolic rumors were circulating even about their little infant son (which I guess to you is also "fair game")!
If you don't know who to blame and your judgement is so skewed that you think Palin is at fault here instead of the Leftist character assassins then you are part of what is terribly gone wrong with this country and a product of the soap opera culture in America today!

If we don't hold our information providers to a higher standard and don't shun them when they cross the line and intrude into the privacy of the families of our politicians and celebrities they will keep feeding us this garbage and will ruin the substance of our political discourse and waste our precious time, not to mention cause a lot of undue pain to the families and especially children of public figures! We should guard their right to privacy just as we guard our own and our own families' right to privacy. This is simply humane and courteous and decent! NO ONE'S CHILD CAN EVER BE FAIR GAME!!! |

The many illogical (Koss like) comments now being posted on this site both suggest Left Wing smear tactics and reflect a group losing the battle.
Disagreement and discussion is the meat of Conservative solutions to problems and appreciated.
Shrill screams and verbal anarchists are not.
Perhaps Hugh could have a separate comment thread for Moonbats! |

You can't blame bloggers or the media for the Bristol story - it was bound to, uh, "come out" sooner rather than later! Perhaps they thought they could hide it until after Nov. 4th? As for not being judgemental, I'm allowed to make a fair assessment of the candiates as a voter, and I think Palin has too many personal problems and demands to be a good VP and lead a life entirely centered around Washington. If you were truly a Christian, you would realize that a mother's first duty is to her family, not to serve her political ambitions. And there's nothing to forgive anyone for here, I just think this is a family who makes bad choices, which would usually be their own problem, but when you are running for one of the highest offices in the land, then it becomes everyone's problem! |

Here we have the magnamimus Hugh saying that a presidential candidate can father a child while he's running for office and it should NOT be covered...and then relating that to the whole Palin "affair", for lack of a better word.
Here we have moral equivalence of the kind I expect from Dems when they talk about military action or Israel. There is NO comparison to the actions of Mr. Edwards during a presidential campaign and the actions of Mrs. Palin's daughter. The former should be front-page news; the latter should appear only the most disreputable blogs. |
