A single vote to this and it could still pass.
If ALL you Lib-Tards think this is such a GREAT THING - Why not just e-mail your Lib Congressmen & women and tell them to pass this bill EVEN WITHOUT GOP HELP!!
Can one of you Obamatrons explain why Pelosi & Reid haven't just lined up their troops and done that already??? They DO NOT need a SINGLE REPUBLICAN VOTE to pass this crappy legislation and you ALL know it!! Can it have something to do with Americans standing 50 to 1 AGAINST IT!! It's only the Socialist types who love this bill & Hal, SteveL etc. prove that point.
W/O= |

No one has the courage (except Rep. Pence) to oppose this disastrous bill. Even Newt Gingrich, who doesn't have any skin in the game, has back-peddled and admitted that he would probably vote yes to the bill.
The Republicans in Congress (especially Boehner) have been telling us for the past two years that they "got the message" from the '06 elections. Apparently they didn't. They're now willing to jump into bed with the liberals to nationalize a segment of our economy and pass on the bill to our grandchildren.
The Republicans, rather than stand on principle (as if they had any), are afraid that if they kill the bill the economy will tank by the election and they will be blamed. They're all worried that there won't be a seat left for them when the music stops.
They should be worried what conservatives will do to them at the polls if they approve the bail out. |
|
Pence is apparently the last person in politics, who is willing to take a principled stand.
I now intend to vote against every incumbent in both parties at all levels. I have never felt willing to 'give up' my vote before, but voting against all incumbents is the strongest message I feel I can send.
I would encourage everyone to at least consider doing the same. With the exception of Pence, there is hardly a single one who's better than a random selection off the street.
|
|
Thank You Representative Pence for your concern for the welfare of the American people and our Country. Too many of your colleagues are willing to erode all that is dear to us bit by bit, and day by day. This Bail Out is outrageous. This should never have been thrust upon the American people, and put before the world at large, as it was. This situation developed over many years and will of necessity require years to unwind and correct. No overnight strategy (read, rape of the US taxpayer) will resolve this long standing product of investor greed. I can think of any number of ways to put this burden where it belongs (e.g. put a surcharge on each investment transaction whether buying stock, commodities, gold bullion, etc.). Leave those that do not put their meager life savings at risk in the financial sector, out the bail out. The problem will call for a government action as Wall Street has resoundingly demonstrated its greed fed ineptitude. Yet the government through legislation and Fannie and Freddie has demonstrated its willing part in bending and twisting the financial system to force unreasonable outcomes - with lots of malfeasance along the way.
I only hope that your fellow Republicans, the Party I support, will have the goodness and wisdom, and calm deliberation in the face of insane pressure from many in powerful places, to act as you are and to stand with you on behalf of all Americans. |
|
I am in full agreement with Pence. While I realize we must address this mess, it is STILL not a reason to ransom our country into socialism.
Also, why are we not naming names? This is a total outrage!! Barney Frank and Chris Dodd should be walking around with a bag on their heads....not princing around like the saviors coming to the rescue.
Why in the hel* are we not shouting from the rooftops this mess started during the Clinton years. The "Community Reinvestment Act" during the Clinton years is the main reason for this problem. The Clinton progressive agenda of forcing lenders to give loans to people that cannot pay them back.
I demand a full investigation of this entire situation.
|
|
|
are we really that stupid? You have Barney Frank in charge of a $700 billion bail out that has his fingerprints all over the murder weapon? And no one asks about this? Where is Mike Pence quoting Barney's stand on Fannie Mae/ Freddie Mac? Or for that matter, John McShamnesty telling the American people how he tried to fix it but was thwarted by Barney? Or bring up the name of Barney's boy friend that was a director in charge of sub primes at Fannie Mae? Or how Obama's buddy made off with $90 million after running Fannie Mae for a couple of years? Why doesn't ANY republican bring this up? And then to turn around and put Franks in charge of the bailout? Please!?! Or how about how many of these foreclosures are to ILLEGAL ALIENS? Or the IRS code that let's illegals legally get their tax refund??? |
|
Democrats need to be bailed out. They can't pay their mortgages, they can't pay for healthcare, they don't start small businesses.....you gotta do this every few years so they can suck us dry........and turn around and start all over again........ |
|
Mike is indeed a man of principle and great faith, that we are very fortunate to have working for us. He is tireless.God Bless Us.
The future of the Republican Party.Mike Pence 2012. |

I believe this bill will temporarily perk up the economy on some levels. I believe it's a long-term disaster though. Why are countries going to invest in America now? The reason is because if they run their company into the ground, we'll bail them out too (if they're big enough). Without the risk of losing your business, capitalism doesn't work. Why should I run my business responsibly if there's no risk to me if I don't? Congressman Pence, thanks for making the hard but correct choice in not supporting this bail-out package. |
|
|
|
I would be proud to call Mike Pence my congressmen anytime! I just wish more republicans had a BACKBONE and draw a line in the sand that says enough! MCCAIN HAVE THE GUTS AND VOTE NO!!! I will vote Mccain even if he doesn't, and I won't like it, but to do nothing is a sure victory for Obama. I would rather go down fighting than be walked over.
Audrey, |

and anyone whose running scared now is lost as well. If you cave in to politicians who are using scare tactics and abusing their power to seize control of the means of production in America through the economy, energy, education, health care or whatever the flavor of the month is, then you are the enemy as well, and I have no sympathy for you. It is not the DUTY of any citizen to support his fellow citizen, even at the muzzle of a gun, which is all this really is. Obama is the enemy, as are the rest of the congress if they go along with this. I take off my hat to you, congressman Pence, and wish you well in the coming Barackolypse. As for me and mine, we all know how to fish, and I still have my reloading kit, and know how to make bows and arrows, as well as bolos, so if you want to try to take my liberty, have at it. |

God bless him. I just wish McCain would follow suit, as Dick Morris suggests. It would be so "McCain" to do so, to go against the grain and do what is right, and to be the voice of the American public. For the life of me, I don't know why McCain is caving in and passing on this golden opportunity to shine through. He did help the House Republicans modify the legislation for the better, and can at least claim that much credit (unlike Obama, who did zero). However, the liberal media and the Obama campaign are already spinning the events as if Obama shaped the legislation while McCain did nothing. We are really lost as a country if the truth of such an obvious chain of events can't even get out. Obama says "McCain deserves no credit" for the deal before people can even wake up on Sunday. Man, that just makes me angry. What brings me sorrow is the fact that (a) our mainstream media seems to have lost the nobility of its truth-telling mission and that (b) so many Americans can't tell the difference between a great man and an empty suit in this election. Paul |

I'm a cold-hearted bastidge who wants to kick Gramma out into the street. Her brat in congress wants to do it to me and mine, so I don't feel the slightest bit guilty. If she'd punished the little prick instead of telling them they could be whatever they wanted if they tried hard enough, they might have understood that the NBA only has so many players in it, we aren't all going to walk on the moon, and we have losers as well as winners. I'll lose today- I'll win tomorrow. Or not. Life isn't fair, get over yourself. |
|
So what? Either the economy tanks hard now, or it collapses altogether in ten years, after the buttheads who caused it have figured out how to escape justice and still keep their ill-gotten gains. Get this through your head; the public loses no matter what. At least if they lose now, they'll be motivated to make the hard choices that might save the country from becoming "The Former" USA. As for retirement, by the time I reach 65- THERE WILL BE NO SSI ANYWAY, so why should I give a rats asz? People are going to suffer, and people are going to grow. You choose to enable, I choose to tough it out. If you suffer, then you have my pity- but you won't have my money, or my children's, or my liberty. Sell yer fricken Lexus. |

“Just heard from several readers that Lindsay Grahamnesty told Fox that the Mother of All Bailouts includes a reported $100 million more in funding for the left-wing housing entitlement thugs and heavily tax-subsidized fraudsters at ACORN.”

By Michelle Malkin • September 28, 2008 10:36 PM
“The Republican Study Committee has put out an analysis. “
“Affordable Housing Earmark: Does not include the provision proposed by Democrat negotiators to earmark 20% of any funds recouped from the disposition of the purchased assets for the Affordable Housing Fund, whose funds flow to many non-profit entities such as ACORN or La Raza. It should be noted that this provision was not part of the original Treasury plan.”

http://michellemalkin.com/2008/09/28/kill-the-bailout-the-c rap-in-the-crap-sandwich/
This news is breaking very fast. Perhaps we should reserve judgment about ACORN until we see something more definitive.
Keep in mind, the power mongers want to keep us confused and off-balance! |
|
Are his fellow congressmen listening? Any chance we can deter them from this anti-constitutional, socialist action propelling our national economic suicide?
What's wrong with everybody? There isn't one part of this bailout bill I like.
To God be all glory, Lisa |

700 days since the last election an adverage 0f $50 per barrel price hike in the cost of gas
WE USE 17 MILLION BARRELS OF THIS EVERYDAY!!!
THAT IS 595 BILLION yes B-b-Billion dollars |
|
Our MSM will continue to cover-up this scandal so the truth will not come out, or at least not before the election. Obama wins I would say, and therefore it may be time to make that reform stand. I would not vote for this bailout simply because of the following reasons:
The assets are not being bought at a fair market value today. Barney Franks makes it seem that the instruments are already at rock bottom prices and therefore an upside is a pretty sure thing for the Americans that are footing the bill.
The idea that ACORN would get any of the profits is appalling simply because that organization is corrupt and with OUR profits we should decide who gets to share if any.
We are assuming that there will be no more failed institutions which I think is dreaming. Holding assets for a long period of time hoping they will eventually be worth enough to sell means that inflation needs to be factored in.
I no longer have any trust in either party nor do I trust either candidate. Obama is hiding and keeping his distance from the mess, while McCain is refusing to call a spade a spade. Now is the time to be that reformer no matter the consequences. Bush with the worse presidency in my lifetime including the snarky Carter, needs to have an open talk with the public and name names no matter the consequences. I honestly believe the truth shall set you free. I know I would be damned if I had tried to get some reform passed and was slapped by the other party that is now blaming me. I would take my case to the voters and at least for my own conscience know I was no longer hiding or trying to appease. I just don't get it. Where is the spunk? |
|
are the only people in Washington right now interested in protecting "we the people". Unless the McCain campaign gets some people out there talking about the real cause of this crisis - doesn't matter if the bill passes or not - Obama will have the edge - and speaking of impending doom - this is exactly the period in history when the USA can not afford Obama. Barney Frank should be run out of Washington as should Chris Dodd - throw in Pelosi and Reid as well.

LMAO and you claim to be an economist???? No way unless you graduated from liberty. If you think "all" it means is "a couple of years of tight credit and falling house prices" you ate the books instead of reading them. Anyone who votes against this bill needs to be removed from Congress now but as an Obama/Biden guy at least you would have put them in office for certain with large majorities. Putting country first I hope the bill passes
|

I have a degree in economics. My area of concentration was in "Money, Credit, & Banking". At first impulse, I felt the "bailout" was prudent.
Now, I'm more skeptical.
The implication was that liquidity of the financial system was in peril, and that Federal action was warranted to protect the system from cascading failures due to illiquid financial institutions. It seems quite different now. The stated purpose of the "Act" is:
"(A) protects home values, college funds, retirement accounts, and life savings; (B) preserves homeownership and promotes jobs and economic growth; (C) maximizes overall returns to the tax payers of the United States;"
So what the hell is going on?
Was not the purpose of the bill to avert financial armegeddon?
Now it's "protect home values"?
This reads like some sort of economic stimulus package that involves a complete federal take over of the banking system.
If cascading failures are imminent, and can be prevented by 700 B - then this action is proper.
If it means we have a couple of years of tight credit and falling house prices - that's a market correction that is long overdue.
As of now - I'm with Pence. Vote no. If that means Obama wins - so be it. Somehow I doubt opposing the Democrats (who are aligned with Bush and Paulson) is going to be politically damning.

writes: Sunday, September, 28, 2008 10:04 PM ...Now that I know that the same morons that got us into this mess are confident that they have averted the crisis,..."
Ah come on and be a stand up guy Dan admit that it was a total failure of oversight and highlights that conservatism has failed yet again just like 1932. I hope this doesn't mean that we get to have the fascists and communists back again too. |
|
GreenDay writes: "And what if the financial system really is on the brink? What happens if this bill doesn't pass?"
I bet I'm the only one here who is honest and sincere enough to answer you. Because all the other conservatives here seem to be either:
-- Social Darwinists: "America is a crap shoot, winners and losers. And if you lose, well, that's tough, suck it up or go away and die, but don't expect me to help you out."
-- Or nihilists: "Let the economy collapse! John Galt will return to rebuild it according to free-market principles, just like in Atlas Shrugged!"
Since I don't believe that, I will tell you that if the bailout bill doesn't pass, cascading bank failures will continue to accelerate until credit dries up entirely, even for Americans with good credit ratings. No more mortgages. No more credit cards. You want to buy stuff, or buy a house, pay cash for it or else forget it. Beyond that, the stock market is liable to tank even further. Folks approaching retirement may see their 401(k) plans melt away and not have time to recoup their losses before they turn 65 years of age.
That means the money supply will likely contract sharply, and we'll all be much poorer as a result.
And those effects will ripple worldwide in today's global economy. |
|
|
Michelle Malkin says ACORN is still in the bill. This is crooks helping crooks. Anyone who wants to get a petition up let me know, I am not computer savy enough to get it done but I can sure start emailing it. We should have a million or two signatures in no time. |

Section 106 has 20% of the revenues from sales of the troubled assets going to...wait for it...government subsidies for affordable housing!
"Not less than 20 percent of any profit realized on the sale of each troubled asset purchased under this Act shall be deposited...into the Housing Trust Fund [and] the Capital Management Fund."
This may amount to $100 billion dollars. This aplies to each sale so the 20% skim-off-the-top is before we recover our initial investment in the bailout! These are programs that give away money for affordable housing much of it lining the pockets of connected builders and to local bureacrats that administer the funds.
Section 107(b) has minority and woman business enterprise goals:
"the Secretary shall develop and implement standards and procedures to ensure, to the maximum extent practicable, the inclusion and utilization of minorities"
My God is there a single piece of legislation that doesn't have to be a giveaway to some aggrieved special interest group? Haven't the billions of misallocated resources under the CRA done enough damage? At long last have these people no shame?
Section 109 gives the Secretary authority to offer loan modifications to deadbeat borrowers:
"the Secretary may use loan guarantees and credit enhancements to facilitate loan modifications to prevent avoidable foreclosures."
Will these people never learn? These people lived beyond their means and now they get to restructure their deal on our dime! This is a license for the government to take a bath. What's the incentive for the government to negotiate a good deal for us with deadbeat borrowers? It ain't their money, so these people will get to keep their McMansions while we suckers who bought what we could afford are stuck in a split levels and ranches. |
|
Smarty writes: "Americans will accept the bailout bill provided you add H.R.25/S25, The Fair Tax, to the bill. "
Then you Republicans would be LYING when you said that the bailout bill had to be a CLEAN bill.
Because "The Fair Tax" has absolutely nothing to do with unfreezing the credit markets. It is for conservatives what the ACORN provision was for liberals: Larding up the bailout bill with extraneous junk.
|
|
God Bless you Mr. Pence not only for not supporting this dirty bill but your great leadership in Congress.
How is it that Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Barak Obama, and the two clowns who started this mess with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not going to have to pay some kind of consequence? I am a licensed real estate broker and sold homes to those people who received loans with Acorn. The loans I were a party of went through Bank of America and I can tell you the bankers hated those loans because the people did not have any where near the kind of credit it took to buy a home.
The American people have been dupped by greedy men, but the ones who have really deceived us is the crew that represents themselves to be for the people (Congress). It is sickening to me every time one of them gets in front of a camera and spews their lies. The only thing I see good about Nancy Polosi is her dentist. |
|
Now that the spineless Republicans in Congress have acquiesced to the blueprint of Democrats for resolving the collapse of our financial institutions, the original architects of the debacle in the first place, I feel so relieved.
Now that I know that the same morons that got us into this mess are confident that they have averted the crisis, I will sleep soundly once again. Well not exactly, it is more likely that I will be comatose as a result of my head exploding from the understanding that these mental midgets are actually running the country.
|
|
I don't understand how any Republican can vote against the bailout.
Not having a bailout would guarantee an Obama victory in November, because if this fiscal crisis is not resolved or brought to some from of closure before the election, Obama wins in a landslide. Pure and simple.
The conservatives who oppose the bailout must be Obama supporters, because to allow this fiscal crisis to remain unresolved through November would result in a big Obama victory. |

Are taking US to the cleaners!!!
There are too many phrases like - "In general, the Treasury Sec. is limited to..." "If the Treasury needs to use another $100 billion..." "Further spending requires Congressional action."
So What. This INITIAL BILL ALSO requires Congressional Action and look at the action we got from them!! This is the type of "action" only a bookie could love!!
Then there's the provision - "Treasury is MANDATED to create an insurance program (Section 102) that protects the taxpayers" And goes on to say - "...requires companies that "WISH" to participate in this program to have some skin in the game by paying risk-based premiums."
Just how many companies does anyone think will "WISH TO PARTICIPATE" if the "skin" is deemed too expensive or INTRUSIVE...like limiting their excessive pay or Golden Parachutes?
I'm also a bit confused by this - "The proposed compromise includes strong taxpayer protections. Treasury’s proposal had minimal oversight to protect taxpayer dollars. The proposed compromise enhanced the oversight structure by creating a Financial Stability Oversight Board, a Special Inspector General, and a Congressional Oversight Panel."
Excuse me for pointing out THE OBVIOUS but WASN'T CONGRESS ALREADY SUPPOSED TO BE PROVIDING OVERSIGHT ON BEHALF OF THE TAXPAYERS?
AND won't these new Bureaucracies - the "Financial Stability Oversight Board, Special Inspector General, and Congressional Oversight Panel" - be the same criminals that are feeding this line of BS to US now?
BTW Speaking of criminals - WHERE'S THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION OF CONGRESS PROVISION part of the bill? Shouldn't the FBI & The Justice Dept. be looking into Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Barak Obama, Phil Gramm and ANYONE ELSE who had their fingers in the pie?
I'm with Pence on this - Weed Out The Weaklings.

for trying to make this bill better. I have mixed feelings, leaning toward do the bill. But I certainly wouldn't hold it against any Republican who voted against it.
I just don't know how the Republicans can achieve the smaller government and lower taxes we need when they won't stand up and defend themselves. Maybe they don't feel it's worth the effort because of the MSM bias. But when I sit here and watch Pelosi commending Barney 'leave fannie/freddie alone' Frank, and Harry Reid or Chris Dodd it just makes me sick.
I said on a different blog I'm tired of being the ant to everyone else's grasshopper. I don't think I'm the only one. I'm seeing more and more comments from people, essentially saying if we get a bunch of democrats running the country and increasing taxes and running up government spending, I'm just going to find ways to show less taxable income. |
|
I heard promises being made to the poor and middle class that they would recieve help with their mortgages and down payments. This I heard on Friday, Fox News radio in the afternoon. Isn't this what caused the crisis. We are going to solve a problem by making it bigger?
From what I understand by listening to Bob McEwen talking to Heimlich on Saturday, is when the loans were wrapped by Fannie included were both good loans and questionable loans(due to Clinton, Acorns, Democrats, etc.)Now if a company purchased one of these wraps what they own is mostly good with some bad. Now because of Enron something called SOX was passed by our government which forces companies to list the value of this wrap at current value instead of what they will be able to sell it for in the future. Mark to market. It is not an accurate method of value. We need to go back to the old way of accounting for the value of investments.
Another thing- The managers of Fannie and Freddie were recieving a percentage of sales of wrapped mortgages as income. This encouraged them to force banks to make more bad loans. Make any loans. I think we have chosen poorly our leaders in Fannie and Freddie and most of them are Democrats and belong in jail. The politicians who were complicit in forcing banks to make bad loans saying, "do it or you loose your license" also belong in prison. And a good thrashing to boot. What a scam! The Dems force banks to make questionable loans in the name of fairness and then Dems in Fannie turn around and take a cut of the percentage of these wrapped loans when they are sold! What a scam! Didn't Raines make 90,000,000 doing this? What did Dodd get? What did Pelosi get? What did Barney get? I'm guessing that they all are voting for Obama. I've always known Democrats were organized criminals. |

abolish Fannie and Freddie, Abolish the law of the community reinvestment act. Wait and see what happens here if Congress is really serious or not. Ha i bet not and will want these to go on until the same thing happens and they come back to the American people and say "gimmie me more". |

Americans will accept the bailout bill provided you add H.R.25/S25, The Fair Tax, to the bill. It's called "quid pro quo". We'll do something for Wall Street and Congress' mess if you do something for us. Americans spend $250-$300 billion complying with our complicated tax code each year. We will recoup the bailout expense in 2 years.
If you really care about Republican values and principles of less government, you sir, could recommend it or Senator McCain. Otherwise, how do we know if this isn't a stunt to gain political favor.
Show me a politician that claims to be a Republican and is against the Fair Tax and I'll show you a RINO.

I just heard Barney Frank say that this bill "marks the first time in the history of the United States that Congress has passed a bill limiting the compensation of CEOs". "Ted" stated something similar on this thread at 7:55, but since I just heard it myself from that criminal Frank, I thought it bore repeating. It is heartening for me to know that soaking me, my wife and my children for $700,000,000,000, in perpetuity, for the consequences of corruption, graft, power, and finally the game being over and the ceiling crashing down will limit the pay of corrupt CEOs. Instantly, my confidence in the credibility of government has been restored. Actually, I've never had confidence, so I guess their credibility was just established in my mind. Just for the heck of it though, I think I,ll clean my guns tonight.
Pence is a lonely voice in the wilderness. Our government is so corrupt, so entrenched in political and personal power addictions that the vast majority of our "reps" will vote for this bill, and probably not even read it first. I actually think this country is on it's way out. The only people our representaives represent are themselves, for the most part.
Does anyone out there know what foreign countries were still willing to lend us that $700,000,000,000. We are almost a wholly owned subsidiary of China, the Middle East, Japan, Australia, etc., already. Who bought this recent chunk? Let's hope that the government can make all the payments on our loans, or we might have to fire the members and limit their pay. Let me get to those guns. |

8:08 EST, John Batchelor Show
Larry Kudlow just admitted that he wrote his most recent article, “A Paulson-Cantor Plan Is a Win-Win” specifically at the request of the Treasury Department.
Larry Kuldlow has a copy of the current proposal.
Kudlow also stated,
“I don’t think I have any particular objections to it.”
“I don’t think there are any deal breakers left.”
“It is a much less onerous bill.”
Do we need any more proof that Kudlow is Paulson’s bootlick? |
|
I am quite sure that if Pelosi and Reid approve of this legislation then it is bad for the country. Good job Congressman Pence. The Dem's want this bailout so they can look "good" to John Q.Public, but we need to show just who is responsible for this mess;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5tZc8oH--o
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MGT_cSi7Rs
and how they want this so they can pretend they care and cover their rears (as well as shafting John Q. Public).
We need to "connect the dots" and see how they manipulated the oil crisis by dragging their feet on energy independence so fuel prices would go up. This in turn drove everything else up and increased the number of foreclosures. The housing bubble was created by the Dem's and now this economic crisis is the result. As usual they are trying to "cash in" (literally and figuratively) on the mess they made and trying to make anyone that exposes or opposes them look bad. They desperately want Obama in office so they can continue their "social engineering". We cannot let them do this tell everybody and his mother about these videos (it's a start) and then get them voting for McCain/Palin. |
|
Lolo1 writes: "There are free market solutions that can solve this problem but not in the short term, only the long term. "
But you do admit that in the short term, there would be genuine human suffering among your fellow Americans as the recession would deepen? Layoffs? Widespread unemployment? Dashed hopes for a comfortable retirement as the 401(k) plans melt away?
Now, if you proposed some Government or private actions to relieve that suffering and help people get through this difficult time, you might have a realistic proposal.
But if you're going to cause human suffering in the short term and do nothing to alleviate it, just ignore it, then your proposal sucks.

Congratulations to those honorable folks in Washington who had the conviction to stand by their principles and vote against this rip-off of the taxpayers. You know this bill is nothing more than a subversive act by those in charge to bail out their cronies on Wall Street. God bless you. We will not forget your honorable act in Novemeber when we through the rest of those idiots in DC to the curb. |

Yep, let's have some more of that free market economy. That really has worked well. Let's continue with no oversight so greedy amoral people can continue to collect millions of dollars while the companies they run go out of business. You people are effing nuts.
Carly Fiorina runs Hewlett Packard almost in to total ruin and gets a $42 million golden parachute when she leaves. Then she advises McCain who has no friggn clue that she almost destroyed that company.
Allan Fishman runs Washington Mutual for 17 days before the Fes seize it and he gets $11.1 million.
Let me repeat - you people are effing nuts. |
|
Thank you for the allusion to St. Paul's epistle. I know your heart is in the right place on this.
Pelosi, Frank and Dodd have no shame. They protected Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from stricter oversight. This crisis is their fault. Now they are selling the bailout based on the CEO compensation provisions. That is a total red herring. It amounts to a few million while they are spending $700 billion to fix a problem of their own creation!! I am glad to know there is someone on Capitol Hill we can trust.

Thank you Congressman Pence. one day i can tell my future baby girl who is to be born in Jan that there is some Congressman with guts. Not many but a few. And I am also looking at moving out of the country as i am not going to pass on so much debt that my baby girl will have to work all her life and give over half of it in taxes. Yes i am. I do have a place to take her with her mother and were outa here one day. Or i have them move and i stay here and work till i drop , but i am not having my baby girl working for the d__ jerks in gov. |

When people asked Churchill how he, a lifelong foe of Bolshevism, could possibly ally with Stalin, he responded,
“If Hitler invaded Hell, I would at least make a favorable reference to the Devil in the House Of Commons.” |

I just listened to an interview with Thaddeus McCotter of Michigan on the John Batchelor Radio Show.
Until a short while ago, the Republican Conference wasn’t even able to read the proposal.
He said that many Republican members are not going to support this bill!
They realize that this bailout is poison. |

Strange bedfellows...Kudos to Kucinich, as well. HELL NO. |

I wrote to John McCain. Let's wait for him to vote.
Face it we are all between a rock and a hard spot. Personally I would rather go down with all hands on deck then see this bill pass.
No matter how McCain votes please try to stick with him his hand at the helm will be far better then Obama.
With McCain we have a chance at survival. As rough as it would be. I truly fear with Obama we may see a mushroom cloud over one of our cities.
Let's just remember in the day's ahead to help each other.
I have posted several items on my blog with research on Obama, Buffett, the Auto Loan Bail out amongst others that might be of interest.

...oppose the bailout? It's a license to steal....!
Now we know we can all go out and buy things we can't afford and never have to worry about it.
I'm SO gettin' that Mazerati....!

Does anyone know if the final draft still includes this 20% provision?

Rep. Mike Pence, God Bless You! The House GOP has nothing to lose if they stand with you. I unfortunately heard Madame at the presser earlier. Between her spits and sputters, she once again cast blame and doubt on the Administration and the GOP. Was it only yesterday she called the GOP unpatriotic? She needs the votes from the House GOP to make herself and the Dems look good. Way to reach across the aisle, Madame. Once again, Kudos to Mike Pence! |
|
I think the American people would stand with you too... until their employer can't fund payroll one day because his short-term credit has been withdrawn.
Then the employer will have to collect on accounts receivable in order to make the payroll, and that will be a dry hole, because his customers have also lost their own short-term credit.
Then the American People are going are going to join hands and sing... "and we all fall down".
It is always a matter of who feels the pain at any given moment. If it is "that other guy" who is hurting, then it is easy to say "stop yer whining." When the sting bites your own butt, the automatic response is... "WHERE'S THE GOVERNMENT WHEN YOU NEED THEM."
This phenomenon is age-old, and will not change today or tomorrow.

If McCain had any core principles other than compromise to go along to get along, he would stand with Mike Pence. He would refuse to support this bail out that Obama takes credit for and says McCain had nothing to do with. McCain could then run the rest of the campaign as the maverick who didn't want to bail out the bad decisions of Wall Street with Main Street's money. His popularity would then rebound to what it was after he picked Palin and stay there, seeing as how 80% of Americans don't want this anyway. This would leave Obama with nowhere to go since he has these crooks as advisors to his campaign.
As it is, McCain will probably remain quiet (ala Dull Bob who couldn't bring himself to defend himself against the savage onslaught of Bill Clinton). This will prove McCain is no leader and doesn't deserve our vote.
I can't be the only one out there who is going to stay home this Nov 4th because his party's choice can't bring himself to distance himself from his opponent nor stand up to his opponent's constant lies.
Everyone respects the bully but very few respect the coward who keeps getting his lunch money stolen and glasses knocked off and refuses to defend himself. |

Pelosi and Reid putting Dodd and Barney in charge of investigating this mess? They are the root cause! Along with ACORN and Obama. Amazing! Please watch this video, it tells it better than I can.

Kudos to Congressman Pence for the moxie to stick to his principles; however, the proverbial train has left the station and will run over anyone in its way. The efforts of Congressman Cantor and others made some changes, but I fear the foundational principles of capitalism have been overwhelmed much like the defenders on Corregidor. I'm at a loss as to what to tell my kids...pass the buck? |
|
I am hopeful that McCain will vote 'No' for this bail-out. I agree, it would damage his integrity if he votes 'yes' on the bill.
|
|
This bailout is socialism.
Also, the people (Dodd, Frank, etc.) who caused this mess are going to be in charge of the 700 Billion.
At this time, McCain is saying he will be supporting the bailout.
Citizens, this is a major turning point for our country. I have already decided that if McCain votes for this AND lets the Democrat/socialist criminals off the hook...I WILL NOT VOTE MCCAIN!
Enough is enough!
Oh by the way, what happened to Sarah Palin kicking butt and taking names? It would be nice to hear from her (and obviously McCain) right now! |

It sounds great, don't bail out Fannie and Freddie. There is a problem. Their bad practices have reached into the regular banks as well. What do think banks will do when they find out they do not have the cash flow. They will come to you the home owner who took out the loan to buy your house and demand their money. When you can't pay them you lose your house. Read the small print on any loan agreement. |

We have no leaders, including John McCain and especially John McCain. He cannot stand against this monster because he is not a genuine Republican. As a result, Americans will see smiling Pelozi and Reid, Shumer next to them and Barak Obama who approves the deal (SIC!) and think what a wonderful people we have as leaders. People will think these "leaders" know what they are doing. I guarantee that Mike Pence will remain alone, just the way Tom Tancredo was left alone in the Immigration debacle. This is tragic. Our great Party becomes a collection of greedy politicians, without a strong leader and a clear agenda. No wonder Obamas are so successful. I feel that after the election, we need to begin work on creating a Conservative Party of America. Split the traditional two parties. Create a real multiparty system when neither Democrats nor Republicans will be able to win elections alone and therefore will be forced to invite a third pary as a tie breaker. Conservative Party can be this tie breaker, at least until it matures enough.
It's just a thought, an idea. |
|
Thank God for guts!! Let's hope he means it and doesn't back down. We've been disappointed so many times by so many "conservatives".
He's alone now, but after this fiasco has fully matures, and after Obama and his communist allies tyrannized the people with their taxes, fascist laws and rules, this country will be ready for another change, just as happened after the 4 years of Carter.
Pence may be the only elected official in D.C. who can see into the future and who knows what most Americans have been yearning for: genuine courage, not trickery and gimmicks from all the handlers in politics. It was the immediate appeal of Sarah Palin, but it seems McCains lawyers have successfully muffled her.
The defeat that's coming for the GOP this year is an unpleasant prospect, but it is necessary. All the GOP deadwood, those lifeless backstabber perverts, need to disappear. At least Ted Kennedy is doing the honorable thing and dying.
But our day will come again. The GOP better be ready when that day comes with true believers and warriors, uncorrupted and uncorruptable.
Don't let us down, Mr. Pence |
|
I once had the pleasure of watching you debate on the floor of the House! I hope to have that pleasure again.
I have to agree with you here as an economist. A bad bill can do far worse damage than no bill at all. There are free market solutions that can solve this problem but not in the short term, only the long term. Stick to your guns on this Rep. Pence!
Now as a conservative and a Republican I would like to ask you to please investigate all those on the Banking and Finance Committees, and let's start with Franks and Dodd, although I can think of a few Republicans that need it too! |
|
I respect someone for standing up for his principles. Even when I believe that stand to be wrong.
I respect Mike Pence for standing up for what he truly believes.
But I truly believe this bailout, distasteful as it is, must go forward. To do otherwise is taking an enormous risk with the national economy. I do not know if Representative Pence believes that risk is as great as I do, or if he agrees with that but believes the risk is worth taking anyway.

"Before you vote, ask yourself why you came here and vote with courage and integrity to those principals.
If you came here because you believe in limited government and the freedom of the American marketplace, vote in accordance with those convictions."
We the American People will be taking names.
Mike Pence for President 2012!!!! |
|
Thank you SIR no matter what happens. It takes COURAGE AND STRENGTH TO STAND ALONE in ANY ENVIROMENT LIKE THIS ONE and FOR ONE AM THANK FULL.
I can only hope and pray that there are more like you who have not yet RISED to the MOMENT. This once a Truly Great NATION and COUNTRY we are now at that fork in the road which will surely lead this COUNRTY down two VERY DIFFERENT PATHS. The MSM and the LEFT have thrown all their weight behinde this and that should be more than enough proff that this is the WRONG PATH for the COUNTRY and all of our children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren!!!!
All of thoses ELECTED OFFICALS need to be SENT HOME FOR GOOD in the NEXT ELECTION they are in.................. We have the POWER OF TREM LIMITS as the VOTERS....... |
|
Rep. Pence, lets hope and pray there are others with as much courage and intestinal fortitude.
No Republican should attached themselves to the DemonRAT CYA bail out. They will use it against them.
Lets hope we see Mike Pence for President in the future. |
|
|
Now McCain it is time for you to show us what you are made of. |
|
Most disturbingly is the caution given that this may not work. There is no guaranteed outcome. Even Paulson said that he could not say that we would not revisit this problem.
We have too many politicians and too few statesmen. Mike Pence is to be congratulated. |
|
|
When are you going to run for President? We need you at the helm. Thank you! |
|
|
Two words for your sir: "Thank you." |
