Rudy's got a great new ad out, "Not Endorsed." View it here.
Text of the voice-over:
Rudy Giuliani is not endorsed by The Tampa Tribune. Not endorsed by the Orlando Sentinel. Not endorsed by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. In fact, he’s not endorsed by any of the liberal newspapers. When you’re responsible for cutting people’s taxes by an incredible seventeen percent and announce a plan to give Americans the biggest tax cuts in history, when you fight to appoint conservative federal judges, want to grow America’s military to make sure our families are protected, demand that new citizens learn to read, write and speak English, and that welfare recipients work for the benefits, you’re the last person on earth to be endorsed by the liberal New York Times. Rudy Giuliani. Tested. Ready. Now

Geraghty the Indispensable (I wonder if Hugh will post this):
[John McCain] begins by remarking about Justice Alito — "I supported him, I thought he was a magnificent choice, I spoke on his behalf from the floor of the Senate... I've said several times that I'd like to find clones for Justices Roberts and Alito. Of course, that opens up raises other issues, so I ahven't used that phrase anymore... It was a tough fight. He only got 57 views. If you ask Jon Kyl, Lindsey Graham, or anyone on that committee, they'll say that I was a supporter... I was astonished that my record — I just wanted to make clear my record of supporting Justice Alito."

If you or other conservatives are looking for a Commander In Chief who will run around making threatening speeches and trying to stir up hysteria among people, than Mitt's not for you.
His ideology is a product of his upbringing and is a very sound system of reasoning. If you prefer bombastic retoric and twisting of facts, maybe your man should be John.
Brother Romney has my complete confidence on border security and terrorism. He doesn't shoot off his mouth and alienate people who can assist in solving problems enough for some people, to prove his machoism. |

What I find really hilarious about that ad is that Guiliani WAS endorsed by the New York Times for reelection as mayor. |

There are 1 million votes that have already been cast. Who knows how many Rudy, Mitt or John votes there are in those early votes? My bet is that many are for Rudy. I think that it is an outside chance for Rudy but Mitt is probably going to win that race: all 57 delegates. That will really aid him but still..... Rudy or John could still pull that race out. McCain and this jurist pick bit is another cloying reason that McCain is just not trusted by the BASE. We shall see after Fla. and if those wild poll numbers showing John way ahead are really true. There may be more outside of Fla. and in those Fifth states that really simply will not trust McCain. It will all be moot if John wins because fear will panic some voters to vote for him as the Great White Knight on Feb. 5 against the Hildabeast or the Empty Suit from Ill. so that in Nov. some Pub will be there to defeat the horrid Dems. Rush, Hugh, Sean and others will not be pleased and neither will many conserv voters. But, there is still time where events could still alter voting patterns. I know one thing, if I hear one more conservTalk Radio person praise Obama as 'young, charismatic and new', I will puke. He is still a socialist pacifist and any movement to force people to vote for him because those voters fear being called racist if they do not, is blackmail, pardon the pun. |

Vote for Rudy even though I am pulling for Mitt now.
I could vote for Tancrado, Hunter, Rudy, and Mitt.
I might consider voting for Huckleberry if I have to in order to keep the Clintons and Obama out of the Whitehouse.
I can not vote for McCain even if I held my nose. |
|
Good one.
###
My Dad who's retired in Leesburg voted for Guliani (he was torn between Romney and Guliani). McCain offends him.
My Mom wanted to vote for Romney, but is a registered Democrat. She told me she could not in good conscience vote for any of the Democrats.

It's not Romney's religion that keeps conservative support at bay. It's that this conservative anyway can't figure out what ideology drives this guy. The WS had a great editorial to that topic ("Waiting for Reagan"). Our candidate needs an ideology. Romney's very astute at making deals to seal the deal, that much is clear. That seems to be his ideology. However, some things aren't about the "deal" - Islamofascism, border security, to name a few. I DO have issues with his religion, but that's between he and God, not me. Being a wartime commander-in-chief IS between he and I, and I'm just not too sure about him. |
|
I am as conservative as it gets...and I will never vote for McCain under any circumstances.
If McCain can get enough independents to vote him into office, then that's what he needs for victory...but true conservatives can't stand him, his hypocrisy, his flip-flops, and his being in bed with the democrats. McCain = compromise. I won't do it.
Romney's religion is the only reason conservatives haven't flocked to his campaign...but if Mitt gets the nod, his platform appeals to the majority of conservatives.
Mitt is a far better recipie for victory in November than McCain. |

When I heard McCain's Hispanic Outreach guy was none other than Smiling Juan Hernandez, I knew John McCain has heard nothing we have had to say.
Smiling Juan Hernadez We know who he is, we know his loyalties are to Mexico, we know he wants to erase our borders and immigration laws.
JOHN MCCAIN, YOU NEED A NEW HEARING AID
Smiling Juan Hernandez In case you don't know him, he used to work for the Mexican govt., lately he has been shilling for "rights" for illegal aliens in this country. He has said he wants Mexicans to remain Mexicans even if they are living here. His loyalties are to Mexico, not U.S.
Questions for illegal alien apologists like John McCain:
Why does The National Council of the Race (la raza in spanish) and the Chamber of Commerce get to negotiate a "Comprehensive Shafting of The American Citizens" behind closed doors? Since when does an organization representing foreign nationals breaking our laws get to rewrite our immigration laws to suit the lawbreakers? Isn't this akin to allowing NAMBLA to rewrite our laws regarding child predators? Or allowing organized crime syndicates to rewrite racketeering, gambling, prostitution, and extortion laws?
We The People are being told by our representatives that we should sit down and shut up while they invite in the entire world. We The People should get some say in this matter. Another amnesty will set off a stampede like we have never seen before. There is not much time to save our country. All the money and power are on the side of shoving this amnesty down our throats. The RNC wants an amnesty candidate, don't vote for one. |

At a campaign event Aug. 8, 2007, Giuliani told a crowd in Iowa, "I happen to be a very big admirer of Sen. McCain and I can tell you quite honestly that if I weren't running for president I would be here supporting him. If for some reason I made a decision not to run he'd be my candidate."
It was the second time this summer Giuliani voiced support for McCain without much prompting.

Or Tom Coburn, or Jack Kemp, or Phil Gramm and is probably finished after Florida.

You can look at Rudy not getting support one of two ways. The first way is that lack of support is bacause he is the most dangerous candidate to face the liberals and that is why liberal papers do not want him.
Or that Rudy who has less votes than Fred Thompson, or Rona Paul is a marginal candidate is a rapidly evolving two man race.
You can make the call. Bt the way my local newspaper, the Philadelphia Inquirer just gave it endorsement to McCain. The endorsement was written by the Inquirers conservative editorial writer the same as the Times.
Face it blue state Repubs like McCain over Rudy and def. over Romney. |
|
Even among Republican voters, not everyone universally I agrees that being unpopular with the greater part of the country and its opinion makers is a plus. Most of us here do, but we’re not typical of the casual voter.
This is a strategy that probably only a desperate candidate could, would, or should try. It will appeal a lot to a hardcore 10% of the GOP electorate, but not at all to the other 90%. I don’t think Romney missed an opportunity here, for instance. He’s doing pretty well already, and IMO he’d have more to lose than gain by playing the “nobody likes me” card.
Incredibly, to me, Rudy still commands 13% national support in Rasmussen. He’s still at 6.6 on Intrade. This despite the fact that he has essentially no chance to win FL, and today’s Gallup poll of NY shows McCain whipping him 40-21! |
|
Could have worked. But it's too late.
Do you see what Hewitt is not talking about today?
No Romney Rising postings.
No article on McCain winning in New York over Rudy 42-24
No article on McCain winning over Romney in CA 35-27. Plus all those FL polls.
What Hewitt is not writing about says more on the state of the race then what he is talking about. |
|
The last candidate the Democrats want to face is John McCain. Guliani and Romney will be lambs for the slaughter. Not only will those two candidates depress the Republican base from voting, but they are deeply flawed candidates who will be target practice for the Dems once the real battle begins.
McCain on the other hand is a legitimate American hero who can actually attract independents and moderates which is essential to win in November. You are fooling yourself if you think any Republican can win by only drawing the conservative wing of the Republican party. Again, I continue to hope that the Republicans continue to savage themselves with this internecine warfare as it only serves to further fracture the party and drive more moderates out of the ranks leaving a desperate minority motivated solely by retaining power. Go ahead, commit political suicide and nominate Romney. It will be generations before you regain your political footing. |

Romney is in trouble... if Jeb cares... he better do it. |
|
The liberals are doing everything they can to build up McCain...
Rudy and Romney are top notch and the liberals fear them. |
|
|
He isn't endorsed by any conservative papers either. So what's the point exactly? |
