Fred Returns for McCain
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 10:20 AM
Fred's back on the trail:
In recent weeks, McCain has campaigned with both Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. While there was a lot of VP buzz when the AZ Senator was joined by Romney and Huckabee, expect a lot less around Fred—the former TN Senator even told Fox News last week that a number 2 slot is “not in the cards.”

The "magic" is back
Fred returns to try and rekindle the wild ecstasy that marked his manic run for the nomination last year. That Fred Thompson?

Fred said
"We don't want to get the cons' hopes up by putting in anyone who even closely resembles a conservative."

Fred?
Not interested.

Fred or me.

He's not interested in being Vice President and didn't seem interested in being President, based on his inept campaign.

I'm not interested in voting for amnesty.

Tell John McCain.

And Juan Hernandez.

Fred is a good man
He would have been a better nominee than most of the other candidates. I don't think he would be a bad choice for veep, either. He's got the right values, the right ideas, and character. His lack of motivation is his only flaw. He's not actively helping McCain. He wanted to be president, you might think he would be more willing to get McCain elected. Good to see him do something, at least. I hope we see more of him.

marketing

Fred is a good fellow, but marketing is important in winning elections.
Unfortunately for Thompson, this is probably not the year for the GOP to run an older fellow who has a Southern drawwwl.
