Interview: Steve Forbes on Rudy
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 3:09 PM
I had a chance to interview Rudy Giuliani supporter Steve Forbes about ...

Last night's debate, his support of Rudy Giuliani, the Flat Tax, the Line Item Veto,  Abortion, and more ...

In terms of the Flat Tax, he told me: "I think (Giuliani has) made a lot of progress on that."  He admits Giuliani isn't where he is on the flat tax, but says he's, "moving in that direction."

I asked him about his support of Giuliani, in lieu of the fact that in 2000 he criticized then-Governor George W. Bush for not making abortion a litmus test, saying at the time: "The front-runner will not promise to appoint pro-life judges, but I have and will ..."

He points out that Giuliani, "created an environment where the abortion rate fell faster in New York City than it did nationwide."

Listen to the rest ...

Steve Forbes
Great interview Matt - he seemed surprised by the question about his support of Rudy despite saying in 2000 "The front-runner will not promise to appoint pro-life judges, but I have and will ..."

Unbelievable!
Is it not a fact that Steve Forbes title is "National Co-Chair" for the Guliani campaign?..Nice objective interview.

Another Northeastern
fairy.

roho
What exactly is your point? No s--t Steve Forbes ia a Giuliani supporter. Matt conducted a fair interview and actually caught him off guard a bit with the abortion/judges question.

Thank you for your input.
Rest assured I will give it all the consideration it merits.

Rashum.....................He was
appointed as "National Co-Chair" over 6 months ago is my point! Not some NEW Neocon that just discovered Guliani! The NYNY spin is not un-noticed, and the Dems already have a NYNY liberal in the race! Her name is Hillary, and the balance of the nation is looking for a legitemate CONSERVATIVE, so you can save your NYNY BS for the A.I.P.A.C. meetings! California has 55 electoral votes and another NYNY liberal can NOT get them..............So, go see a broadway play! Otherwise the results will be:

Clinton........NYNY Liberal Democrat.
Guiliani.......NYNY Liberal Republican.
Bloomberg......NYNY Liberal Independent.

And YES America is prepared to vote 3rd Party Conservative!
RASHUM writes: Tuesday, October, 23, 2007 8:59 AM
ah ok
No s--t - what you are saying is known by everyone! Forbes has been Giuliani's co-chair for over 6-months. Matt conducted a fair and objective interview. As for the issues that REALLY matter, tax cuts, welfare reform and the war on terror...Giuliani is a conservative. And when it comes to abortion, there is at least a chance of him appointing pro-life judges. If conservatives run a thrid party candidate and Hillary is elected, you can be all but certain to see liberal pro-abortion judges appointed.
roho writes: Tuesday, October, 23, 2007 9:49 AM
By New York standards he may be a
conservative?

1. Hates 2nd amendment.
2. Wears dresses and marches in gay pride parades.
3. Supports tax-funded abortions(and even donated).
4. Family values-moved his present wife in with him and his x-wife and children.
5. Supports affirmative action.
6. Illogical to appoint conservative judges, when he appointed lower court municipal judges from the left side of the democratic party.
7. Apposes school prayer in public schools.
8. Actually sued to make his city a sanctuary city.
9. Houston based "Bracewell & Guiliani" is the sole legal councel for Cintra the Spainish consortium building the NAFTA SUPER HWY.(the reason Gov Perry supports him.)
0. Played like he was insulted that the Saudi Government offered a $10 million check after 911 and he refused it.(In reality Bracewell & Guiliani represents the Saudi Gov as a client)
11. Bracewell & Guiliani also reps "News Corp" which owns "Fox News" of which is the employer of Sean Hannity who strugles with fair and ballaced reporting on Rudy.
12. Supported Mario Quomo(Democrat)over the GOP candidate(Pataki)because Pataki wanted tax cuts.
13. Has ALWAYS supported AMNESTY for illegal alliens.
14. His OWN children don't support him!
15. Out of control self-promoter that did a good job after a major tragedy.(Compared to Mayor Nagan of N.O. any mayor shines.)

What he says, and what his record is are different. The standards of New York City, and the standards of the ballance of the nation are MUCH different if Rudy in your oppinion is a conservative?
RASHUM writes: Tuesday, October, 23, 2007 10:02 AM
and again
And again you fail to mention....

Giuliani supports tax cuts, welfare reform and the war on terror. Those are the issues of national importance. He also supports school choice.

For the record I support Fred Thompson. I just wish people would realize Rudy is a conservative with the issues that truly matter. And for Republicans to vote for a third party candidate would only help to elect a liberal democrat president. And if Hillary or Obama were elected, we can be all but certain they would appoint liberal pro-abortion judges.

Nominate Rudy=Elect Hillary
.

Virginia Pat
Who could we nominate that would defeat Hillary? I disagree if you say Romney. I'll only give my reasons if he is your solution

As for roho and his list that looks like the junk I get that the spam-blocker misses, I really call into question some of your items. For brevity, I only list two:
8. Actually sued to make his city a sanctuary city. My take was that he merely sustained the status quo that started back with Ed Koch. I never read anywhere about him actually sueing, I'd love to read your evidence.
14. His OWN children don't support him!
His spoiled child prefers Obama. I'd say this give Rudy a conservative gold star.
