Rosie O'Moral Equivalence (Update: It's Equivalence Tuesday on Today!)
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 11:17 AM

Rosie O'Donnell on "The View:"

"Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America."

Update: I gots video of the political genius herself. I love how she acts like Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the dumb one, when she's spouting this crap: "Afghanistan never threatened to kill us...We will never bring peace at the hands of war."

I feel like I should start an Elisabeth support blog. Thanks to Ken for the video:

Newsbusters has more.

The audience applauds. Loudly. "The View" is filmed in NYC. Honoring the threat?

You should see the look on Hasselbeck's face. Bless her heart, I can't believe she has to deal with them every day. To her credit, Joy Behar does concede that "well, Christians aren't threatening to kill us. There is a difference." Barbara says nothing. Nice.

This is inane. Yeah, I'm watching "The View." Don't ask. I'm not gonna even bother making excuses; y'all will rag on me no matter what.

Update: Via Hot Air, it's "Equivalence Tuesday" on the Today Show!

Update:  Confederate Yankee caught me watching "The View." What he doesn't mention is that we were totally IMing about it the whole time, especially that riveting interview with "Survivor" host Jeff Probst.

Really Rosie
by Carole King

I'm really Rosie
And I'm Rosie Real
You better believe me
I'm a great big deal!

BELIEVE ME!

I'm a star from afar
Off the golden coast
Beat the drum! Make that toast!
To Rosie the Most!

BELIEVE ME!

I can sing
Tea for Two and Two for Tea
I can act
To be or not to be
I can tap
Across the Tappan Zee
Hey, can't you see?
I'm terrific at everything!
No star shines so bright as me--Rosie!

BELIEVE ME!

I'm Really Rosie
I'm Rosie Real
I'm Really Rosie

BELIEVE ME!

Historical Ignorance
"Christianity is responsible for the genocide of over 600,000 Native Americans in this country"
...

"Back in the dark ages the common citizen couldn't wasn't even allowed to read the Bible! They just had to accept whatever their congregation was feeding them"

This is absolute stupidity at it's worst. To blame everything a purported Christian does on his religion is ludicrous. The actions against the indians had nothing to do with religion. Does anyone deny that the actions of Al Queda, et al have everything to do with their religion?

The common citizen of the middle ages was not literate, how could they possibly read anything? There's never been a proscription against individuals reading the bible by any significant Christian denomination. In fact, the Church is responsible for the rise of science and literacy during the middle ages.

LORD HELP US
I find it amazing that there are people out there who will defend radical liberalism at all costs. As a conservative I readily admit the the war on terror could be fought musch better and I strongly deisagree with a number of things the Bush administration has failed to do correctly. I am sure many fellow conservatives feel that they can support the president while disagreeing with him openily.

However, you can still be a Rosie supporter if you want but you must admit when she crosses the line. Radical Christianity centuries ago advocated terrible things (witch hunts, etc) but to compare radical christianity today (which is what she said) to radical islam is insanity. How is she allowed to make the statement of comparison and get away with it?.

Radical Islam advocates suicide bombings, 9-11, etc. Radical Islam's repression of gays would be a million times worse than the repression Rosie fears from Christianity.

Democratic leadership wants to make inroads with the Christian community but I bet not one of them will condemn Rosie's comparison of Christians and the Taliban. I dare one of them to do so.

Questions
Rosie says: "Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America."

Ok, where are

1. Radical Christians in America kidnapping, torturing and beheading people?
2. Radical Christians in America murdering women for showing too much ankle, or throwing acid in their face for wearing too much make-up?
3. Radical Christians in America murdering gays?

Perhaps Rosie and her "life partner" should go visit the Taliban and let us know how much she enjoys their hospitality.

The View, LOL
I agree with Rope and Morgan. When will people realize that all religion is is a system of control? It was created by upperclass society to control the peasant class. Take Christianity for example. Back in the dark ages the common citizen couldn't wasn't even allowed to read the Bible! They just had to accept whatever their congregation was feeding them. If you questioned that, guess what? Blasphemer! And they had a lot of fun and unique ways to torture you back then. I won't even go into the whole witchcraft issue. The point being, people need to wake up and start thinking and living for themselves. There was another group similar to Christians and Muslims who vied for total assimilation with no questions asked. And who, boys and girls, where they? NAZIS.

Rosie
Funny how to defend what you disagree with you have to pick on Rosie's size, at any rate, Christianity is responsible for the genocide of over 600,000 Native Americans in this country. That isn't ancient history that was 150 years ago in the U.S.

Fred Phelps, Jerry Falwell, Tammy Faye Baker--these people inflame situations in America under the guise of spreading the Christian faith.

Jesus' message was quite simple: Love one another NOT love one another except fill in the blank.
Morgan writes: Wednesday, September, 13, 2006 3:00 PM
Even a liberal twit can be right...
Rosie and her ilk are not worth the time it takes to surf past them on the way to another station. However, on this point, she actually has demonstrated that she may actually have a brain hiding in there somewhere. This country is on the road to becoming the Christian version of Iran. The majority of this country is actually in the middle regardless of what the idiots at either extreme want us to believe. It won't be just the liberals like Rosie and her crowd who are screaming when this happens; it'll be the rest of us in the middle as well. Historically this country has an unfortunate record of apathy/disinterest. Numerous times during our history we haven't seen what's coming until it was too late to stop it. The signs have been there and we ignored them. The signs are there again. And we'll ignore them again. What's truly sad about it is that a twit like Rosie could see it and the vast majority of people in this country won't until it's far too late.
David writes: Wednesday, September, 13, 2006 12:02 PM
Why??
Why would anyone who can read, write and particularly run a web page watch anything like the View? For that matter why doew anyone care for one minute what Rosie thinks on anything. Elvis was once asked about the Vietnam was an responded "I don't know man, I am just an entertainer". That was the smartest thing any person who is called a celebrity ever said. I also saw that Gerge Cloney is to speack at the UN, this world is nuts.

As to the torture. Torture is not being used on American citizens, so big deal. In fact we have rules governing its use with nation states and we are not at war with specfic nations, only terrorist and non-uniformed people. So big deal. I had a cousin who was at the Air Force Academy, he said that during the summer they would torture the cadets. The rule was that any went except drawing blood. The average time from start to confession was 24 hours. The Academy acknowledged that with simple methods they used everyone would break. So let them use the techniques. If the libs don't like it, they can succeed (if only the South could).

This is so horrible, thank you for the video too.

Barbara Walters said nothing because she does not care. When 9-11 happened, the following day Barbara Walters said she would not wear a Flag pin because it would mean she was choosing a side. GRRRRRRRRRRRR for both of them. ( Rosie and Barabara)

The View
Heh! Beth beat me to telling you that I'm totally gonna rag on you for this!

We knew that Rosie was a dimwitted leftist twit. It was just a shock to find out that your TV viewing habits are so, how should I say this? Common.

I'll just assume that you were suffering from the flu or something. I know when I'm sick all I want to do is to curl up in bed and watch trash TV. The View certainly qualifies for that if nothing else.

I have to add on here...
...Ms. Ham...try Starbucks to get your day started.

As to Mrs. Hasselbeck's problem, she volunteered. Sounds to me her desire to be on television outweighs her religion.

I avoid the program and certainly expect to do so here.

Rosie and The View
Why watch the View? They're a bunch of annoying whiners. They give women a bad name.
Rosie is a hypocrite anyway so why take anything that whale of a "woman" has to say. After all, she's the one who rails against gun ownership while her bodyguards carry concealed firearms.
Those friggin' networks, ABC, SeeBS & NBC just keep trying like crazy to promote gays and lesbians just to get them out there. Neither Rosie or Ellen are funny.
The funniest thing Ellen ever did, and the best, was the fish in Finding Nemo and that was a script that someone wrote for her.
Rosie just doesn't come off as funny or intelligent.
