Democratic Debate Recap

Sorry to say, I missed the Democratic debate last night, so this won’t be much of a recap. But like you care about what happened there, anyway.
I flew from Florida to Boston yesterday (and boy are my arms tired) on a flight that should have been advertised as “The Screaming Baby Express.” The whole experience put me so out of sorts, I completely forgot that the Democratic contenders and pretenders were squaring off in their first debate. Instead, I unwound by watching the Red Sox enjoy a come from behind victory on the strength of Josh Beckett’s right arm and Wily Mo Pena’s clutch grand slam in the 8th.
Judging by the reaction on the internets, it doesn’t sound like I missed much by forgetting the debate. Some guy named Mike Gravel (who apparently is running for president – who knew?) made quite an impact, and Joe Biden had the line of the night. Brian Williams, showing the mastery that only comes with years of devotion to one’s craft, was flawless as moderator.
The one thing I really wish I saw was John Edwards scolding Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, braying “Highfalutin language is not enough.”
I know exactly what Senator Edwards was getting at. He is but the simple son of a simple mill-worker. When Obama and Hillary use their sophisticated big-town Babel, he just can’t keep up. Edwards personally eschews all things “highfalutin.”
This much we know. Perhaps he should use as his slogan, “John Edwards: A Simple Man for Complex Times.”

Bonus Warmongering! The Jungles episode ends with a "militia" of chimps going on a raid against neighboring chimps in order to expland/protect their territory. It's kind of funny and strange to see these guys marching through the forest, single-file, as if they were a human platoon.
The attack is brief, but they do manage to kill one of the opponent tribe's children. Which they then proceed to tear apart and eat.
Chimps are cannibals, it turns out. Or at least in this sort of instance -- after a victorious battle against "enemies." Weird that they have a kind of victory ritual of cannibalism as primitive human tribesmen do. http://ace.mu.nu/archives/224366.php
If the Democratic Candidates were chimps--my guess is they would chase down Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich, kill them, and eat them. Not exactly family time viewing--but it would make for a more interesting debate.

Thanks to all those that answered the question.
It sure looks like 'em.

I meant to conclude with "how do you do it?" I guess it's a gift. :-) |

Your blog sure is flypaper for disgruntled leftist nutjobs. |

I mentioned that before. Besides, aren't the breasts a dead give-away? |

Who cares who gets the Democratic nomination? I will gladly work for him/her and pray for the best. The GOP is dead in the water after this debacle. |

"There are only two possible analyses of current sentiment: either you cons are right and the majority of Americans want defeat in Iraq and a defensive posture in the GWOT and support "irrational decision making based on emotion". Or you cons simply don't know what the flick you are talking about, have simply lost touch with the reality of America's public sentiment."
Gee, tough choice. I think I'll go with they don't know what the flick they're talking about. |

Good question. I had it too. It is NOT genuine. Not that Edwards isn't a pretty boy, but this is the sort of fabricated photo that gets a pass in the "new" media.... |
|
Andrew Sullivan posted a gender genie that can tell from your writing if you are male or female. I plugged in Dean's post above and the results came back. . . http://bookblog.net/gender/analysis.php
It's a boy! Mazel Tov! |

of course Kerry was like a corpse, and he got the gig last time...
but Hillary is about as interesting as nothing.
and, in a tough reaction to the phyical, she is entirely out of shape.
we know the physical appearance of a candidate is very influential.
i am not speaking of gender alone.
Ms. Rodham Clinton is very short, and very wide.
about as big as two candidates in width.
her persona does not make up for it.
not the witty, warm, comedic type.
and her wrinkles, age, etc., looks worn, not well aged as a healthy individual.
Hillary's visuals, outside the celebrity character, is a big negative.
Obama, Edwards, look young and fresh, (closer to the way Bill and Gore appeared in 92), and there is some positive tone in their voice, some persona that is human at least.
Richardson looks most human in many ways, but like the old time politician, similar to the aged reputation of a used car salesman...
Dodd, Biden, embarrassing old Senators who should be somewhere else.
content?
i could only watch a bit, here and there, and it is rather embarrassing, they cannot defend a vote to authorize the use of force to remove a monstrous dictator, who rewarded suicide bombers for killing Israelis, invaded Kuwait, and sheltered Zarqawi.
they are a bunch of weak, dishonest, fools...
thought Hillary was going to have Bill debate for her...

I know this is a stupid question, but is that photograph actually a photograph of Edwards?
Or was it just thrown in? |

Between screaming babies and missing the debate, it's amazing you didn't swoon. It would have been enough to give me the vapors! Good thing you have the Red Sox and American Idol to keep you going, so you can do your brave part in fighting the War on Terror! |

I wouldn't worry too much about missing the debate. Considering it was on MSNBC, almost every one else in the country missed it too. |
|
and Kucinich spent about $100 on his suit.
(Sorry--I saw that somewhere and I crack myself up every time I think about it). |
|
|
It's kind of hard to debate partisan opposition to everything George Bush says and irrational decision making based on emotion. |
