President Gave Up War-Time Golf for Troops
Posted by: Mary Katharine Ham at 11:23 AM
Yikes, from the annals of political tin-earism. Seriously.
For the first time, Bush revealed a personal way in which he has tried to acknowledge the sacrifice of soldiers and their families: He has given up golf.

“I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf,” he said. “I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”
How long before a snark about this shows up in an Obama stump speech? I don't even give it a day.

Could you blame him?
I mean... really?

Bush just handed them a loaded gun and painted a red bullseye on his chest.

It takes a special man to sound clueless, callous and elitist at the same time. Thank you, Mr. President.

Why does this
sort of statement form our Chickenhawk in Chief surprise anyone? His handlers must have let him off leash a bit too long. I don't consider it embarrassing for one to claim to be a Republican. But anyone who continues to claims to support Bush as some one representing the Republican party as opposed to castigating this imperial oaf is simply putting party before country. That 21% of Americans who continue to support this administrations outrages has no common sense or decency or simply is a victim of over-exposure to right wing media propaganda with no balance of views from the opposing side.

This president has destroyed the lives of thousands of our good soldiers and broken the economy of this strong nation with his war-profiteering. But at least we can be comforted knowing he gave up golf.

Scariest part about this
is that Bush is quite sincere when he says this, and probably cannot see why anyone would find his statement laughable.

Besides
Giving up golf gives him more time to spend at his bicycle "ranch" doing what windshield cowboys do. What DO they do anyway? Oh yeah. Ride bikes.

???
considering that every time Bush was shown playing golf the MSM used it to portray him as callous I think he's was just being smart to take away the PR nightmare that the MSM was using against him ...

Not a tin ear at all ...

Gold is a small sacrifice....
..compared to the left, who gave up rational thought....and in some cases, bathing.
....not so's you'd notice.....

Ha, ha, ha...very true, Paddy.

I would add that in addition to the lefties, the Buchananites, Ron Paulistinians, and John Birchers all gave up rational thought, too.

It's like a 5+ years long lent season for all of them !

Well, what would you
Have the President give up, then? Really? The guy takes on a job that is 24/7. As bad as anyone thinks he has been as President, what the hell would you ask the guy to sacrifice? What are YOU trolls giving up with all your "we support the troops but not the mission? Anything? No. Seriously. Go ahead, tell us,as inquiring minds want to know! Cause I bet the truth is, it's nothing, because you assshats are so deranged with Bush hatred that you say,"I'm not giving up jack while Bush is in office." Typical liberal mindset. No ratioanality. Just because the President has not asked us to give anything up and a soldier would tell you that they are glad you feel safe and that nothing had to change for you doesn't mean you can't do something, right?

Monkey Girl
What the hell do you mean elitism? Like any of the candidates are really in touch? Still got your head in the sand, don't you?
My Pet Goat writes: Thursday, May, 15, 2008 5:42 PM
Of course!
Of course one day of golf = 4,077+ dead soldiers!

Why didn't I see that earlier?
