She did it. Gov. Palin did everything she needed to do tonight from the podium of the Xcel Center here in St. Paul.
All night long, I've been soaking up the excitement and anticipation for her speech from the thousands of people gathered at the GOP convention.
And boy, did she deliver.
Funny. Smart. Beautiful. Self-deprecating.
Sarah Palin introduced her family and her story to the American people. ?She detailed her track record as the chief executive of Alaska.
She took a couple of jabs at the elitist and vile media attack machine, and the man they so desperately want to be president, Barack Obama. She poked Harry Reid in the eye with mocking Reid's ugly, "I can't stand John McCain" remark in the past.
This crowd loved every minute of it.
And if we are fortunate enough to watch John McCain beat all the odds and win the presidency on November 4, I will always believe that Sarah Palin helped seal the deal for him.
It was tonight, the night that America fell in love with Sarah Palin, that we Republicans can start to be truly excited about our chances.
Some pundits said that the bar was quite high for her tonight. ?Others, like me, felt that the expectations were relatively low, that all she had to do was be herself in order to win over millions.
She did it. She exceeded expectations. The affection and support tonight in St. Paul and in family rooms all over America is tangible. It's real.
Finally, we're getting sick and tired of the vicious media attack dogs. ?At long last, a great American triumph like the story of Sarah Palin is trumping the whiny little weasels in the mainstream press.
The phony feminists are silent tonight. ?The rabid media, in the tank for Obama, is stunned.
She did it.

She demonstrated wit, optimism, charm, and grace. She resonates as *real*. She did a great job! |
I just switched over to CNN and it was silent !!!!!!
think I heard crickets
hows it taste democrats
Sarah is wonderful - bright - charming - everything John McCain knew she would be !!!!! |
Beauty pageants teach you great poise. I knew she would read the hell out of that teleprompter.
She also showed what a truly mean person she is. Yes, she is a pitbull--vicious, unpredictable, and not safe around children. |
You could hear the "shock and awe" in the voices of the ABC commentators. Loved the slight quaver in their stunned voices. My daughter is voting for McCain now.
Republicans can win this. RAS is showing a shift for McCain in many of the swing states. Obama's bounce is coming mainly in the blue states. He is losing traction in the swing states.
Palin is a heat seeking missle. GO Sarah. |
As a center-to-right republican, I didn't like the speech at all (or Guiliani's speech). It played well to the building, but I think to middle-of-the-roaders it will seem angry, sarcastic and mocking.
I think most non-partisans don't like viciousness, and this speech seemed vicious towards Obama. |
...I've been saying, and she proved that tonight.
She took everything they've thrown at her since Friday and pounded it back down their throats.
And if you have any doubts that Sarah gave a great speech, and if you have any doubts that McCain/Palin will win and America will be way better for it, then read to comments animalgirl has been posting all over TownHall. The Dems/leftists/MSM are SCARED!
Advice to Obama/Biden: Concede now and save yourselves a lot of hurt. |
I can't believe I have to wait for at least 2012 to vote for Sarah Palin for POTUS! The day can't come soon enough. Small towns are the cornerstone of the US. I say its time for a small-town gal to be the cornerstone of US governance! |
Tonights speech proved you can't be poised and classy with moosedrool on your chin. She was all fight and no diplomacy. We have already had 8 years of cowboy diplomacy. Maverick reformation is just a continuation. More of the same will bring us more of the same. And, how many skeleton's are left in her closet? |
The content and delivery were phenomenal. This lady ooozes charisma and will change the entire dynamic of this race. She and Giuliani went a long way toward ripping away the Obama facade. I'm sure the Obama campaign is in shock tonight and will have many sleepless nights figuring out how to deal with this new political star. The media will have to be careful or lose even more of its credibility if that is possible. I can't wait until her debate with Biden.
Admit it, those of you who are misrepresenting yourself as a "centrists". The speech wasnt "Mean" - you are just a pansy - I believe Her words resonated with every honest person watching. You Dems put up an empty suit. Obama is a joke of a candidate. He's such an easy target. the GOP would be having a much more difficult time dealing with the Clinton Machine, but you put up a clown as your candidate, and finally, someone is showing it. She went point by point and showed how empty that Obama suit really is. Sure you are hurt by the truth, but you need to hear it. Calling her a "Meany" is just silly. we are supposed to be adults. And Obama has no idea what he is getting into. At least Palin can look at a budget, and know how to read it. She also knows energy, and that blowing up your tires wont do anything to solve the energy problem. After saying that I think that Obama needs a big red ball fastened on the end of his nose. What a condescending dufus! Yes, The speech was harsh, But personally, I have been waiting over a year for someone to say exactly what she said. sometimes a verbal spanking is just what is needed. Running this country is not a game. If you think Sarah is mean, what will you think about the KGB now that they have returned to power in Russia - how would Obama handle them? What about a terrorist with a nuclear bomb? - Will Obama disarm him by calling him a "Super Meany"? Ouch!
I am sincerely hoping I will never have the opportunity to find out what happens when a spinless whimp meets a juggernaut. |
The argument we are getting from Team McCain is that Mac felt like he really needed a "game changer". Well, for now, he has got it. Gov. Palin was strong.
However, the pit bull tonight was actually Mitt Romney. He was really exercised (almost shouting at times). But, somewhat effective as an attack dog -- but not with much humor (more could be said).
Giuliani was also very effective as an attacker, but in a more ornery sort of way --almost whimsical at a times.
Michael Steele and Mike Huckabee had the best balanced presentations ---mixing well: humor, seriousness, pro McCain and anti_Obama.
Linda Lingle's defense of Gov. Palin was fairly vigorous.
(And, how 'bout Michael Williams? Has that guy got a future, or what?)
I think Sarah's attacks were restrained for the most part -- only occasionally belittling Obama. And, other than that her speech served its purpose of presenting her as a person of political skill and personal charm. |
Seeing all the other candidates tonight, as well as Carly Fiornia & Meg Whitman, reminded me that McCain has made a brillant "political" decision -- for the moment.
The lurking problems out there are (a) gaffes on the campaign trail which expose her as insufficiently up to speed on national and international issues, and more importantly (b) the looming debate with Biden. Will he make her look like she is in over her head?
It could go either way.
(Think of Hillary/Rick Lazio Senate debate and also Biden's inability to shut up.)
We all like to make fun of Biden, but the fact is there is no way possible she can match his thirty plus years in the Senate of questioning State Department personnel, and debating fellow Senators on issues of international consequence -- even if she was sequestered from now 'til debate night with James Baker and Brent Scowcroft.
So the task is, not to cram thirty years into her but to tutor her enough so that she has a general grasp of the broad issues --and then practice, practice, practice, with a stand-in trying to entrap her into making gaffes. The point is, she needs to look competent, not necessarily expert.
The brillance is, had McCain picked Romney or Pawlenty it would've mollified a one faction or another in the party -- but not have helped him with independents at all.
What Palin does is send a message, "hey America lookie here! Give John McCain another consideration."
No other candidate would've had the right mix of factors to do that. Only Palin.
If he'd have picked a traditional VP candidate he would've had to hope that the POTUS debates would show Obama unacceptable to enough independents for McCain to back into the presidency.
The unresolved question is whether McCain comes out looking wreckless and cynical, or courageous and crazy like a fox.
Tonight Sarah helped him look politically brillant. |
Simple ask them to name one thing their candidate has ever actually accomplshed in his life. Other than making it safe for baby killers to kill the babies after they are born. yeah real courage obama!! |
I cannot say enough good things about tonight's RNC Convention speakers. Every single one was stellar! Sarah Palin, however, was spectacular! My husband and I were applauding and standing up cheering throughout Sarah's speech -- by the end of the night I was weeping with tears of joy. Obama and Biden must be wetting themselves right about now. People have been commenting that Obama is just "an empty suit". I think the Dems would feel lucky if their candidate could at least boast of having a suit to wear after tonight. I think Sarah Palin just announced to the nation from the Excel Center that the "emperor has no clothes". It's the naked truth! The angry, liberal left media is just fuming because Sarah Palin is as authentic as Obama is phony, and they simply don't know what to do with that. This is simply delicious! If this is moose stew, I think I'll have another helping! |
A woman who births a special needs child and raises an american soldier. My bet is that Biden will be reminded that he has NEVER made an executive decision. And taking the train to preserve oil, is not the same as negotiating the biggest energy deal in AMERICAN history (40B big). Biden is TOAST! The barracuda will beat him with lipstick, skirt and lapelle pin! |
If I were you, and am glad am not, I'd stop insulting a hunter or shall we say, Sarah can hunt you down and make stew out of you before you can say 'tofu'. She rocked and american welcomes her. The Obamanites know it's over. The presidency is not a self discovery journey.......that's all folks! |
so I had to watch the speech on PBS.
Mark Shields looked like he'd been kicked squarely in the family jewels.
God I love it. Go Sarah go! |
Limbaugh claims that the women's movement is for the promotion of ugly liberal women into positions of power.
I noticed that most of the women in the GOP audience were quite attractive while most in the Dem audience were...how can I say this?...less easy on the eyes.
An honest question animalgirl, "Is your handle a self description?" I mean, you're obviously a leftist, and you're ugly on the inside. It's OK to be honest with us, we won't judge you for being ugly. We only judge people when they're wrong. |
Sarah writes: 'The barracuda will beat him with lipstick, skirt and lapelle pin!'
ME: I'm not saying she isn't a match for him, generally.
After all, she bested two Republican opponants in her gubernatorial primary (one of which was the sitting Governor -- a former long term U.S. Senator) and she bested her Democrat opponant --a former governor. (I tried to find debate videos. Still unsuccessful.)
But, that was in the context of issues pertinent to Alaskan state politics.
Biden is going try to press her on what to do about the growing threat in Iran... how we should judge the political & security environment in Iraq... how much should the U.S. be involved in African problems... how to make the North Korean situation more resolvable...
Any number of issues along this line where he thinks he can make her look uninformed. He will try to make it appear a mismatch, like Cheney v. Edwards.
It may backfire and Biden come out looking like pompous windbag (which he is), but at the same time it may make her look the novice.
Of course, on the other hand, Obama should be at a disadvantage against McCain. |
I watched the entire evening on C-Span. During Sarah Palin's speech, the camera often cut to folks in the audience, Cindy McCain, and Gov. Palin's family members.
At one point during Gov. Palin's speech the camera panned to her youngest daughter, Piper, who was cradling her baby brother, Trig, in her arms and stroking his hair.
All of a sudden she licks her entire chubby little hand and slicks his bangs over to one side and then looks adoringly and approvingly into his little cherub face. It was so precious that I replayed the footage on Tivo 3 times!
I cannot tell you what Gov. Palin was saying during that particular clip, but it doesn't matter -- the candid shot of her two youngest children spoke volumes about her motherhood. That moment was PRICELESS! You just can't manufacture spontaneity like that. |
I will forgive the MSM one night. After bashing up Palin, they mostly did admit that she had a great speech. They even cut down on Harry Reid's usual idiotic comments. Olberman had the best line of the night.
I wonder if the MSM sometimes is secretly conservative, drive down expectations for them and driving up expectations for the libs.
No they are just bad pr people for Obama. |
After tonight:
The nation saw the truth:
SOROS::: OBAMA:: Daily Kos::: MSM have zero credibility:
They all saw the 50,000 pages of Obama's opposition research and tried to destroy her before we got to see her:
NO ONE WILL even pay attention to the sleaze merchants:
this is a "SHOW ME COUNTRY" |
What on earth is a communist er... "community organizer" ? I wonder why liberal women are so angry and ugly ? Is it perhaps they are ugly because they are angry ? Or are they angry because they are ugly?
# 1 - Democrats
# 2 - Mainstream Media
# 3 - Islamists
And she can handle them all ! |
The looks on the faces of media hacks following Gov. Palin's speech : Priceless! |
"Is it perhaps they are ugly because they are angry ? Or are they angry because they are ugly?"
I was going to ask that same thing about all the angry people onstage tonight and at Townhall.
The angry Right is alive and well and ready to keep on hatin'...
we're not angry,we're ecstastic because obama will be gone in a couple of months ,off the national stage and back to being a backbench senator.maybe he john kerry team up and bottle their own whine!!! |
After Governor Palin's speech was over, I surfed channels to see what the "experts" had to say. Landing on MSnbc (I think it was) I heard a woman on the "expert" panel bellowing about how totally offended she was that Sarah Palin could possibly run for VP with her daughter in such "condition"! (God help me, I continued to listen)
She rattled on about how horrible for Sarah to put her daughter in the spotlight. I gathered from her comments that declining the VP spot would have made her a "good mother."
My mind went back to all the shots of Bristol through the night. (CSpan) She looked a bit bored, didn't smile much. She didn't look frightened or embarrased, and she held her fiance's hand. She didn't seem overly engaged in the goings on UNTIL.... her mother walked out on stage.
Then, her face lit up, a big smile came across her face. I could see clearly how proud she is of her mother.
Perhaps the "commentate-tress" didn't stop to think that maybe a serious "family talk" had took place before Sarah accepted. (wouldn't YOU?) One where Sarah SURELY told ALL of her children about the FISH BOWL they'd in. wouldn't you??)
Perhaps, Bristol understands better than she's given credit for just how much her mother has to offer this country. Sacrificing privacy may be the price, but who says she's not willing to pay it? Who says she has any intention of being "the victim" the "commentate-tress" makes her out to be?
Perhaps Bristol and ALL Sarah's family decided to put their country first too. |
Since when is the GOP the party of smug buttholes that insults the heartland? Palin offended every working American that devotes blood sweat and tears to their community...but according to her, it doesn't rate as responsible.
And what's with Palin inciting the crowd to turn on media & press? Does she not realize she absolutely needs press to push the McCain agenda...and that the press is how US citizens get their information for drawing conclusion on who to vote for?
Ya...good luck to McCain...putting a mindless torpedo on the ticket was seriously foolish. |
You are so truly pathetic, I could ALMOST feel sorry for you. It has been 24 years (probably longer than you have been alive) since a woman was on a ticket. Your party had a woman get 18 million votes and she couldn't even get a spot on the ticket and it is killing you that the right has not only put a woman on the ticket, but one that is vastly more qualified than the O to be Pres - and she is running for VP. You say she was 'vicious', she was just responding to O, Biden, and the MSM that have been saying that she is not qualified. She showed how SHE is more qualified than O, and then she explained how McCain is more qualified. All without a single "uh". You and your ilk (look it up if you need to) are suffering from buyers remorse, which must REALLY suck since you had one whole night to enjoy you purchase before you saw something better the next day. A community organizer more experienced than a Governor - ha, ha - stop, I can't breathe. |
Did you even see the speech? How did she insult the heartland? You are an idiot if you think that she insulted anybody but O (the empty suit) and "Plugs" Biden. The insulting one is O with his comments about the people of PA the day after he had been there campaigning. Look at his record (his record while running for Pres, there is no other record to look at) and you will see that his VIEWS (not just his speech) change depending on to whom he is speaking. He is a self-serving, pathological liar that will say absolutely anything to get elected. |
She insulted community organizers...ya know...the backbone of thousands of small towns all across America. Last night...they were told they don't rate. Now please...do not be another place where conservatives can't take criticism from a conservative! Sarah Palin drew an obvious line in the mud...small town vs large towns. And in the process, alienated any town that happened to actually be paying attention to what she said...be a Mayor, or you don't get any kudos as having a responsible position. As if all the work those good people put in keeping communities together, people fed, water and power kept on, bringing families together for events...she made it clear, those good people don't have any responsibility! Hey Sarah...tell that to God ok! See how that line goes down with the Almighty! Sorry friends in the right...time to be less reactionary and get back to being thoughtful. We'll need it for mounting a run in 2012. Sarah Palin's big mouth is bound to sink McCain's ship. |
Sarah Palin did what she had to do last night--prove that she was capable of being tough even though she's a "mom of five kids".
Critics and hateful bloggers will continue say what they want (like Chad above), but she proved she can take it and fling it right back!
I have seen the bloggers' indignation about her supposed insult of the "community organizers"--but that wasn't her intent. She was responding to those people who think Obama's experience somehow overshadows hers! Even Obama put her down when he said he ran a campaign of more people and money than she did as mayor--so what about as Governor of Alaska, Barack you didn't mention that? Wonder shy?
Dems can't take it and they are quaking in their boots! You GO Sarah! Keep making history!! |
..there are two other significant Community Organizers I can think of...Jesse "Balls" Jackson and Al "Cocaine" Sharpton. I would not want either of these 3 fine "gentlemens" even organizing my closet much less my community or nation. |
I watched Rudy and Sarah's speeches last night on FOX News and was cheering the whole time. Finally, someone is doing the MSM's job and pointing out that The One has a resume so thin it is invisible. I was so pumped after Sarah's speech I could hardly contain myself. The debate between her and Little Joe Biden, The Plagiarizer, is going to be fun. |
Rudy was great SARACUDA was better. THe wife and I had to keep the cheering down so as to not wake the kids! |
verbally soil themselves this morning has really made my day. Maybe McCain can pull this off after all.
McCain/Palin 2008 Palin/Jindal 2012 & 2016 PAX CONSERVATIVE! |
Been reading a lot about the reaction of Sarah Palin's speech last night. The MSM's elite divas are especially upset. And some of the comments on this article echo the opinion that Sarah was "mean" to poor Obama and other Democrats. How is it that directly quoting their statements is "mean"? It seems to me that public comments are in play and if you say something stupid, more than just a slip of a tired tongue, you will be called on it. Good job, Sarah. |
What has McCain's record of heroism got to do with it? EVERYTHING! It is just not the story of the past, it is the story of the future! When the enemies of our American way try to capture our future,... politically, economically, socially ... I want to look out the peek hole in the door and see John McCain standing there ... I want to see his smile of courage and "thumb s UP" ... then I will know the future will be OK! |
A strong north wind just blew in, cold enough to shatter the dreams of those who want to socialize America and at the same time warm enough to give Hope to real Americans. That Hope is called Sarah. When the north wind hits the hot air of DC, be ready for a pit bull tornado. I almost feel sorry for the lying liberals, NOT! America has been longing for straight talking, no holds barred, pistol packing mama. A mama bear who will protect her cubs and loyal Americans from baby killing liberals! Liberals who want to change our society. The constitution says every person is born with equal opportunity to succeed. This is the basis of Americanism. Liberals will change the constitution, every person not aborted has the opportunity to do as you are told! This used to be called tyranny, today we call it elite liberalism! Sarah Palin, go to Washington, bring the sword of justice and smite all the evil politicians. Be the Paladin of the American people. Let your deeds remind America and the world of how great the United States was and can be again. Thank You Sarah Palin for standing up and being a real American! Oh, I like John McCain too, who is also a great American. McCain/Palin will be a landslide victory. Forget the political party thing, let your heart and convictions be your banner.] Americans will follow!

Why do ultra-conservative evangelicals go gaga over Sarah Palin, a Pentecostal, while freaking out over Mitt Romney, a Mormon? Don't they know that Pentecostals have some beliefs that are a lot stranger than anything you'll find in Mormonism (hint: speaking in tongues)? Time for ultra-conservative evangelicals to start showing tolerance for everyone. God knows we try hard to tolerate them. |
It's not the right who are angry, it is, and always has been, the left. They are just projecting their feelings onto us. From Howard Dean's primal scream to Hillary Clinton's shrill "This is a America! We have a right to debate!" (but only if your political views are the same as hers) to Jeremiah Wright's rantings about "G**D**** America!" If they do it, it's righteous indignation, if we do it, it's bitter anger. The left have played the victim card "...this is an attack by the vast right wing conspiracy..." and the race card "If people don't vote for Obama, it's because he's black." They have been vicious over the past 8 years in their personal attacks on Bush, absolutely vicious (nazi sympathizer, tyrant, dictator, evil, etc., etc.); but pointing out, with humor I might add, the flaws in Obama is vicious according to the left?? They take victimhood to a whole other level. They've internalized that role to such a degree that they are blinded by it and can't think in any other terms.
Conservatives have never been what the left has cast us to be, and they are still trying to force us into that role (that we should reject Palin because her daughter got pregnant, that we should reject her because she should be home with her family and not in the work force, etc.). That's just it--they never have and never will understand us. They have for so long cast us in the role of villains, bigots, racists, etc. because it makes them feel better about themselves. |

because mormons are not christians and pentacostals are . you believe christ is needed for resuruection and salvation thru works christians believe in christ for salvation and good works are a by product of salvation big difference . |
Sarah Palin stepping out onto the national scene in and of itself has already shaken up more than Washington. Her impact is being felt throughout the country from the cracks and crevices of the liberal snake holes to the not so savey media elite. From the late night talk show hosts, to even exposing Oprah for her "narrow" mindedness which she is so ready to condemn of others. Oprah is "struggling" to invite Sarah Palin on her show and it has cause a rift in her staff. So much for "open-mindedness" O! Everyone is being seen for who and what they are and Sarah has only just started to ramp up. She is "straight talk" on steroids! Go Sarah! |
There’s been a lot of talk recently surrounding Gov. Sarah Pailin. However, I think Cindy McCain also deserves our admiration and respect. She’s an intelligent, accomplished and classy lady like Sarah. Cindy also has an inspiring story and a genuine servant’s heart. I was especially impressed when, during the last night of the GOP convention with the video about Cindy, they talked about her role in adopting their daughter from Bangladesh and her current involvement in charitable works around the world. The McCain/Pailin team doesn’t just talk about “change,” they are the real agents of change that we need. If they win this election, America will be blessed to have both women in the White House! |
The Culture is on!!! For great ammo check out this amazing new comedy called COMING SOON (not the Mia Farrow one) about equality, morality, zoophile-rights etc. It's free at http://www.comingsoon.cz and you're sure to laugh your a** off!!! I did!
Go Sarah! |
Oh no here we go again--once again, America, we're stuck with some backwoods hick out of Frontierland. Skinning a moose is soooo 19th century when Andrew Jackson was president but it won't resonate with normal Americans in the 21st century. And after that hate-filled speech it's hard to believe she was once voted Miss Congeniality in the Miss Alaska contest where she lost to a caribou. (That's why she's hovering over a dead caribou in a photo--she eliminated the competition by turning it into dinner.)
When are we ever going to learn? Aren't you sick of Frontierland calling the shots (no pun intended). |
People who claim to be conservative do love Palin, but to state that America loves her is ridiculous. I personally hold no ill will towards her and accept that in part she is a conservative, but she does not make me want to vote for McCain. Her speech seemed rehearsed and fake like a beauty queen making a speech at a pageant. I guess that would make sense given her background. As far as ratings go, the demcraps had more viewers and more people viewed the last convention in 2004 than this one, so much for the love affair. I find it sickening how there are only 1 or 2 conservative talk show hosts in American NOT jumping on the band wagon.

cimarrone: loyaltee because mormons are not christians and pentacostals are . you believe christ is needed for resuruection and salvation thru works christians believe in christ for salvation and good works are a by product of salvation big difference .
You obviously do not know the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. So please pretending you do. We believe that Christ is our lord and savior and that only through his grace can we be saved. As for Loyaltee's comments they are equally dumb, because if she new the history of the Church and its teachings, she would know that we do believe in the speaking of tongues. As far as being saved by works, I want to clarify for you doctrine. In James a book in the Bible (in case you didn't know) He states this doctrine: Faith without "works" is dead being alone. What could this mean? Hum, does this mean that we can go about all day in sin and act as a total heathen and then quickly say I am sorry for a life of evil save me? If that is your interpritation of Christ teachings, you are a fool. Did Christ live a sinful life? No, He lived a perfect life? Who did he say to be like? His Father in Heaven. Who did Christ say he learned everything from? His Father in Heaven? Who are we supposed to learn from? Christ. Be ye therefore perfect as your Father in Heaven. Does this seem like a death bed repentance teaching? No, we are saved by Grace, upon that their can be no question, but we must act our part and put the Savior first in our lives. If that is not Christianity, you are right I am not a Christian, I just follow after the Man/God I admire most, Jesus Christ. |
