Obama's own statments have been consistent and add up to this: If you make under $250,000, he says you will not pay more taxes, and if you make less than $200,000 you will get a tax cut. This means between $200,000 and $250,000 he is saying your taxes would stay the same. Whether or not this would really happen is debateable.
Biden and Richardson's statements are the inconsistent ones. Perhaps this is an indication that Obama's statements are in fact lies, but the distinction should be made when making this an issue. |

OK, I understand that 250k and 200k are two different thresholds (taxes not going up vs. tax break). And I can dismiss Joe Biden for being, well, Joe Biden. But Richardson's "120K" I can't explain away so easily. Maybe he's just ignorant about...an Obama policy that's received a whole lot of press. You'd think that Dems would be on the same page. Plus cutting taxes is quite out of character for Barack Obama, given what we know of his legislative history. And Obama has outright lied before. So was it that Richardson misspoke, and somehow mangled 250K into 120K, or is he privy to something the rest of us aren't? |

And there are a number of things in his tax plan in addition to rate cuts: tuition tax credits, mortgage tax credits, retirement savings incentives, etc. etc. It's possible to benefit from his tax plan without having your tax rate go down. |

1. I am concern what Obama might inherit from the bad genes of his parents such as laziness, inability of his father to use the constructive and positive solutions even in the most favorable situation such as being in Kenya with Howard education and too many socialistic ideas of his mother.
2. I suspect him and people behind to be idealists with some kind of agenda. I do not like idealists in general and I suspect that I would not like these particular idealists as well. I prefer programmatic people and programmatic solutions especially for the president.
3. I do not like elite people either (as history teach us, very little good can be expected from elites), with one exception of Bill Clinton.
4. Logic defines his nomination because as the first black president he should be really clean ( as Biden put it, what an idiot Biden is) but Osama’s factual or imaginary associations are vary disturbing and sure not even close of being clean( where it is a smoke, it is a fire).
5. With the logic of the point 4; it must be some forces behind him that make it happen. I am suspecting that I would not like these known and unknown forces (like Dick Cheney for an example).
6. I agree that he has an army of educated and smart people (some 300 people that give him advices and suggestions). However, the problem with it that each one of them will be pulling in his own direction when shove come to shovel and this crowd of intelligentsia (it is becoming a bad word for me) would expect positions and favors for their support and I am not sure that Obama has enough chutzpa and good judgment to keep it under his control. It will be too many opinions, too many applicants and too little positions to give.

After listening to Obama supporters claim that if they vote for him they won't have to work to pay their mortgage or work to pay for gas in their car, this sounds like a good deal. I'm also going to the bank and telling them I am having trouble paying my mortgage, like Maxine Waters suggested. I will also be looking for my $500 annual check (thank you in advance to all who are choosing to still work). Every Sunday, I am going to the pancake breakfast at Rev. Wright's church to load up. I will be canceling my insurance policies and requesting coverage just like my senator gets.
I can wait this out for four years. Everybody needs a vacation from daily life and Obama's gonna give it to us.

(One of the other 80 winners of that scholarship later won a Nobel Peace Prize). He got his bachelors at the U. of Hawaii, then won a graduate fellowship to Harvard, when he got a master's degree in economics with a focus on econometrics. He returned to Kenya and became an economist in Jomo Kenyatta's government. Unfortunately, his career and life fell apart due to alcoholism and government chaos.
Obama's parents met in a Russian-language class in Hawaii. She eventually achieved a Ph.D. in anthropology and lived a remarkable full and varied life, from doing some of the first microfinance work in small villages in Indonesia to being an executive at the Ford Foundation.

I and another member of teamsarah.org, are organizing a (last-minute) NATIONAL ‘MARCH’ for McCain/Palin 2008 this Sunday, called the ‘MILLION MCCAIN MARCH’. We are planning for every city in every state to be represented to show our support for the McCain/Palin candidacy (and some perhaps just opposed to the Obama/Biden one). We are absolutely appalled at the overwhelming bias of the liberal media, and we’re making our ’silenced’ voices heard this Sunday. While there will surely be other rallies throughout the next few days, this is a concerted effort for a NATIONAL CALL OF SUPPORT, and to oppose the policies of the Democratic candidate. I myself am a registered Independent, who would have voted for Hillary Clinton, and due to her ‘defeat’ of the nomination, and the utter disrespect which Obama showed to her and Bill Clinton, will be voting for McCain/Palin. There are NO tax cuts in BHO's tax plan. Instead he uses "tax credits" ie. sends everyone government checks.
He mails you a check if you meet the following criteria...
"Making work pay" tax credit. Basically everyone gets a $500 check
"$4K American opportunity tax credit. You get money back after you have spent it if you have a kid in college.
"Mortgage Tax Credit". You get a check back on average of $500 if you have a mortgage.
Eliminate taxes all together on seniors making under $50K
OTHERS...
Health Care Tax Credit
Expand Earned income Tax Credit
Tax credit for Child Care
Tax Credit for "green" vehicles
Some sort of retirement account tax credit...
He does not say that he WONT renew the Bush Tax Cuts so everyone's marginal rate will probably rise in 2010. |

Obama says explicitly that tax rates for the middle class will be reduced to 20% lower than they were under Reagan. From the plan: "the combined income tax and payroll tax (on both the employer and employee side) will equal 19.6% for the income of a median family of four. This is a rate that is 19 percent lower than the average rates paid under Reagan."

Apparently you only read the talking points. If you look at the actual plan, there is NO REDUCTION in the marginal tax percentage rates. You still will have the same amount of money deducted from your paycheck every week. At some time in the future, you get a check back from the government in the form of a rebate....That is just for the first year that we know of. 2010, the Bush Tax Cuts are scheduled to expire. At this time the marginal tax percentage rates will return to previous levels (go up). BHO has not stated in his tax plan whether or not he will do anything about it, but you hear the common refrain from him and others on the left about repealing the Bush Tax Cuts. So your one year rebate check will be a tax increase the next year if nothing is done...

Spin it how you want, but there are no actual numbers mentioned regarding the marginal tax rate reductions in the BHO tax plan, It does specifially state the "wealthy's" marginal tax rate is going from 36% to 39%. Can we agree on that? Did you see anything in his proposal that said a certain income class is going from 25% to 20%? No you did not and that is the point I am making. The only concrete proposal spelled out for reduction is the tax rebate checks one has to qualify for, so you really dont know where that 20% reduction they mention is acxtually coming from. Perhaps they are counting the 20% if someone qualifies for all or part of their rebate scheme, but is not a "tax reduction" you will see in your paycheck, not the way the plan is described.
