McCain Well-Positioned for Super Tuesday
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 11:32 AM

Democrats don't have winner-take-all primaries on Super Tuesday, but Republicans do -- and I think that's very good news for John McCain.  Here's why ...

Assuming Rudy Giuliani does not win Florida tomorrow, the winner-take-all "delegate rich" Republican primaries in New York (101), New Jersey (52), and Connecticut seem to favor John McCain.  (As Jon noted, he leads in the polls there).  Arizona (53), McCain's home state, is also winner-take-all contest ...

Assuming he's still in the reace, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee will probably favor Mike Huckabee, thus depriving Mitt Romney of wins in those states.

Romney's money would be very important in California (173), were it a winner-take-all state.  However, the state will likely give delegates to several candidates.   Each of the state’s 53 congressional districts (including very liberal districts like San Francisco) are allotted three delegates.  A plurality in a district gives a candidate all three delegates.  Instead of Romney winning all the delegates, the Republican candidates will probably divvy them up.

Of course, tomorrow's Florida primary could completely scramble all this.  But it's interesting to consider, nonetheless ...

I can't vote for McCain...
I would just sit out the election if he got the nod. If I wanted a democrat... I'd vote for Hillary.

McCain (D-lite) Can't Win

Worse than Dole. I wasn't excited about Dole, but I wasn't pi$$ed off at him, so I voted for him. What's the likelihood of anyone who has been called names for wanting the gov't to actually enforce the laws, to vote for those jamming amnesty down our throats?

McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Leiberman. Leadership like this I can do without.

Carbon taxes, constitutional rights for Gitmo detainees and amnesty for illegal aliens await us no matter who wins, whoopee!!!

Conservatives will not care who wins if McCain is the nominee, the reults would be the same.

Very funny, but sadly very true. You want to see the GOP's ghost of Christmas future for the general election if you nominate Mitt Romney? It is very scary. If you want Billary or Obama to be giving States of the Union, don't pick a candidate like Mitt who will lose the general election.

Rudy endorses McCain
At a campaign event Aug. 8, 2007, Giuliani told a crowd in Iowa, "I happen to be a very big admirer of Sen. McCain and I can tell you quite honestly that if I weren't running for president I would be here supporting him. If for some reason I made a decision not to run he'd be my candidate."

It was the second time this summer Giuliani voiced support for McCain without much prompting.

Mitt will loose the general if he is nominated. Let the Romniacs continue with dillusion, reality will catch up soon enough.

Matt, how 'bout that quote about Alito ?

Matt Lewis,

Did your candidate John McCain really say that he would 'draw the line' at nominating a Supreme Court justice such as Sam Alito ?

Maybe you should write about that, since you're so 'concerned' about which candidates are 'reliably conservative.'
