John McCain Should Stand Up for Sarah Palin
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 5:11 PM
The silence from John McCain about all the anti-Sarah Palin rumors being peddled to press has been remarkable.

Why hasn't he stood up for her? He should have tried to put an end to the ugliness.

He'll be on the Tonight Show this evening, I had some suggestions about what he should say, what these rumors says about the state of the party and some props to Greta for doing her interview with Palin this afternoon on Fox.

Time for Johnny
to climb out of his cone of silence and have Sarah's back. His silence is an embarasment and unbecoming of a patriot such as himself.
Salty_Dawg writes: Tuesday, November, 11, 2008 5:30 PM
And no one dares
disturb the sound of silence.

His silence only proves that he supports these attacks.

Personally, I am ashamed that I voted for the doofus RINO anyhow.
Actually, the ONLY reason I voted for this ticket was because of Sarah Palin - At least Sarah would have been "only a heartbeat away".

John McCain can go to h.e.l.l for all I care.
Laura writes: Tuesday, November, 11, 2008 5:32 PM
Yeah, stand up Johnny Traitor!
Sarah put herself and her whole family through hell in support of you; and you and the little wifey both turn your backs on her. You lost the race because you weren't good enough on your own to win it and deserved to lose it. With the attitude you've now adopted toward her, we really know just what a turncoat bum you are!

I've lost respect for the guy

I'll always honor his service to our country, but there's a reason McCain left a lot of conservatives uninspired and even hostile towards him.

This is another example of why he lost the election. He'll always stand up for liberals and their right to denigrate this great country, but he won't stand up for true patriots.

It's real annoying.

I hear ya, Salty_Dawg
I said before the election that I'm voting FOR Sarah Palin. It just so happened that McCain was at the top of the ticket.

In the long run, it's probably best that McCain lost this election for numerous reasons.

I'm calling her office this afternoon to lend my support in any way that I can.

I am SO thoroughly disgusted with my foolish family and friends, some of whom are Christians, who oppose Prop. 8 and voted for Obama.

Go figure.

It's a twisted, twisted world out there.

Plant your feet firmly, everyone and stand strong and tall for the USA and the Constitution.

And God bless all veterans!!

I'm not gonna lie
As a democrat, I hated Palin during the election. Now that it is over, I feel badly for her. She was asked to do something that she wasn't prepared for (not saying she is stupid) and now she is being blamed by sniveling McCain aides who don't want their reputation ruined by McCain's trainwreck of a campaign. I don't agree with her on a single policy but I think that she got the raw end of the deal.
Scholar writes: Tuesday, November, 11, 2008 6:42 PM
Great question
I asked it last week and none of my readers had a good response: http://www.acouplethings.com/blog/2008/11/why-hasnt-mccain -stepped-up-to-defend-palin/

It's petty of him, plain and simple.

Or maybe he got sick of defending her stupidity during the campaign?
arcman writes: Tuesday, November, 11, 2008 6:50 PM
Maybe
Scholar writes: "Or maybe he got sick of defending her stupidity during the campaign?"

Maybe that is why Sarah was out front doing press conferences and drawing tens of thousands to her campaign stop, and Obambi was hiding "Slow Joe" Biden and not letting him anywhere near a camera.

Didn't you do the same thing to Romney as Carl Cameron did to Palin?

What kind of suggentions do you have for yourself?

Mountain Girl writes: Tuesday, November, 11, 2008 7:10 PM
Speaking of Romney, Some Have...
...posited that it's the old Huck campaign workers that signed on with Mack that smeared Palin and blamed it on Romney...

... two birds with one stone, so to speak. Well, when you think about it, Palin is more Huck's natural political competitor than Romney is.

Palin and Huck are going after the same constituency. Romney has said he is little interested in a 2012 run.

Whatever the motivations of the "jerks," IMO Mack is one of them for not standing up for Palin after she worked her little heart out (4 monhts post partum BTW)and took all kinds of grief for trying to help Mack.

tangoromeo writes: Tuesday, November, 11, 2008 7:42 PM
I wonder
if it's possible that Sarah Palin told McCain NOT to come out in support when they spoke last Thursday? I know that many times women don't want a man to come rushing in to "rescue" them unless specifically asked because it makes a woman look weak &/or unable to stand up for themselves. They spoke last Thursday and all I can think is she could've told him "I'll take care of it and let you know if I need to you to step in".

I believe he's an honorable man so it does not make sense he wouldn't make a statement condemning the attacks. So all I can take from it is that there is possibly an agreement between him and Sarah regarding the situation.

I wish someone would specifically ask her about it in an interview.
seansfm writes: Tuesday, November, 11, 2008 9:30 PM
McCain Clearly Defends Palin!
Please read a piece called "The McCain I Know" by Mark Salter -- Mac's closest advisor for 20+ years. An excerpt:

"Every candidate for office who takes on an incumbent runs on a message of change and reform. Few live up to their promise. Sarah Palin ran against the political establishment in Alaska with the promise to clean up the self-dealing and corruption that had finally worn out the patience of Alaskan voters. She defeated an incumbent Republican governor and a popular former Democratic one, an impressive accomplishment in itself. But she didn’t just run as a reformer. She governed as one. That was the source of her appeal to John McCain."

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE...

"He holds in high esteem anyone of either party who keeps their campaign commitments to reform. He greatly admired Senator Russ Feingold and the late Senator Paul Wellstone for that reason, despite their liberal credentials and views on most issues. He chose Sarah Palin to underscore his commitment to reform and help him keep his promise once in office...

She is hardworking, intelligent, and a quick study, and he believed she would learn by study and experience all she would be required to know as next in line to the presidency."

So, McCain IS a defender of Palin if anyone really cares enough to look into it. And besides that -- Sarah is certainly more than capable of effectively defending herself. Isn't that obvious?

Persnickety Curmudgeon writes: Tuesday, November, 11, 2008 10:08 PM
McCain - Palin
I myself voted for Palin and against Obama. John Mccain whose mentor was Barry Goldwater has unfortunately always been an echo not a choice on policy. And once again he's throwing a conservative under the bus and for what - so he can make up with the liberal media he thought were his friends but stabbed him in the front - the back - and everywhere else this election?
Rico  writes: Tuesday, November, 11, 2008 10:10 PM
HE PICKED HER..
It was a stupid error on his part, but it demonstrated his lack of judgement. I believe he let his little head do the thinking for his big head. As has often been his habit.

Having said that...he should defend her because he picked her.

By not defending her...he is admitting his error.

I find it hard to believe that we as conservatives have totally collapsed! Especially seeing as there were 58 million of us who voted for the McCain/Palin ticket! Yes, we lost seats in the House and the Senate but if you look at history...WE WILL BE BACK!! We have lost the battle but the war is not over! so to speak.

We conservatives are a strong bunch and yes, there are somethings wrong with our party but have you ever listened to Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid?

We conservatives love our country and we will do whatever it takes to make her better, even work with Democrats just because the "Republican" brand is having a hard time doesn't mean we are collapsing! There are MILLIONS of us here in this country!

Next time think before you put your fingers over the key board.

are to blame for the mess we are in,
he didnt want to attack the Democrates,
he didnt let Palin be Palin,
but they got almost 60 million votes,
so what now,

her whole family went through Hell? Really? Palin knew the scroe. Why does she get a pass? because she's 'the right' religion? When you run for a high office, and your family is not the walk you talk, then the double standard is glaring. You have two self-indulgent parents, one teen expecting her first kid ouside of marriage a special needs child that needs 24/7 attention and you want us to do what? pat your hand and give you a pass?

Ethics violations. Nepotisem. shadey constrution deals by 'friends' who built home (oh, and the sports complex down the street on a no-bid contract...) Toddy, who barely finished HS himself as co-gov. Yea, that's the chick I want running MY country.

Huntsman has said he might be interested. Hummm. Ma'am, you're totally over the edge!

Read "Sailors to the End," if you want the truth about what happened aboard FORRESTAL. I can't tell you the name of the author because I loaned the book to an old shipmate on election day.

The rocket came from the other side of the ship, not from McCain's plane. McCain's plane was hit after which he crawled out of the cockpit and down across the nose of his plane because the plane was on fire. He then asked about the wellbeing of the pilot in the plane behind him and his plane captain --an airman who cared for his plane.

He then volunteered to crossdeck to ORISKANY, rather than fly ashore with others who had burns. He did crossdeck and flew combat missions when many of his peers returned to the USA.

It would be nice if you'd stop posting sheer Bravo Sierra! John McCain might be a lot of things, but he is not a coward.

John McCain standing up for Sarah Palin
I really feel that John McCain is going through a hard time right now, and I don't blame him..I don't feel that it was a fair race and he didn't loose fairly. It was over the top biased and very disgusting. He would have made a far greater president and she VP..he did stand up for her during the campaign. why he isn't now, I don't know, but he must have a reason..they speak often, and maybe she has asked him not to. No one knows. I would love to see him speak up for her, but that may not be what they BOTH think is the best right now. She is showing who she is and won't have him in the future to stand up for him. So there may be a reason for this that we are not aware of. I hope so, because she still speaks VERY highly of him, and that tells me they must be continuing a great relationship. I really feel sorry for him. He did not have a good campaign begind him, and now they are trying to blame Sarah for their loss! If anything, she was an uplifting, positive contribution to the campaign. Sussn Ryan
