Obama's Vetting and Hillary as Secretary of State
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 8:00 AM
Just wrapped up a hit on Fox & Friends this morning about the auto bailout and Hillary Clinton as potential Secretary of State.  As I was walking out of the studio, I was hit with one of those moments when you think of something you should have said on-air.

Here goes. Barack Obama is making all his potential staffers submit an exhaustive questionaire about their personal lives, finances, etc, right? So how is it he could POSSIBLY pick Hillary Clinton, whose husband Bill has refused to disclose ANY financial information about his multi-million international foundation?

During the show I mentioned the conflict of interest the former President could pose and the bungling he is sure to do as Hillary's unofficial rogue ambassador, but I should have driven that point home.

If Obama wants to be all about transparency and disclosure, he can't pick Hill.

I'll post that clip here later. For now, I'm off to MSNBC for a 10am hour hit with David Schuster and then I am tentatively booked for Hannity & Colmes this evening!

Update: Here are the clips

Hillary
Two things I see here;

1. there is no way Barack wants transparency. He hid from that throughout the entire campaign. Just look at all the stories of his questionable fund raising.

2. Picking Hillary would be a shrewd move. You keep your friends close and your enemies closer. If she is part of the administration, how can she speak out against him. The same might be true about Rohm Emmanual. He is a big defender of Isreal, so how would he be able to stop Barack if/when he turns his back on Isreal.

problem
The problem here is the confirmation process. Republicans can't stand HRC and would throw a hissy-fit: http://www.acouplethings.com/blog/2008/11/anticipating-a-n asty-confirmation-process-hrc-for-state/

Obama
Has obviously read Doris Kearns Goodwin's "Team of Rivals" about Abraham Lincoln and his political saavy which he exhibited by bringing his potential rivals in 4 years into his tent via the Cabinet.

So has Hillary. She will not accept.

The DNC would have to take Hillary
shopping at J.C. Penney to buy her a new wardrobe of pants suits.

"transparency and disclosure"???
It is too late for him to be all about transparency and disclosure. He was not forthcoming on any of his associations (Ayers, Wright, etc.) and finances (previous, i.e. Resco, or current) during the campaign, so it is FAR too late to be talking about transparency and disclosure.

Furthermore, why don't politicians stop talking about being above the fray and bi-partisan. It is a joke for Obama or any other politician to claim such a thing. If they didn't have strong feelings one way or the other they wouldn't be running. As soon as they claim "we need to get along" or "I'm not going to be negative", "blah, blah, blah" I stop listening-IT'S NONSENSE!

Secretary of State
After reading the 7 page/63 questionnaire that Obama has put out for perspective applicants, Hillary would have a hard time with many of the questions. There are a lot of questions about spouses and associations. Quite frankly I find the questionnaire to be extremely hypocrital.

I really do not see Hillary taking this job if she is offered.

The election is over and your guy won. Try to be a little happy about it.

Ginger, out of touch with the reality
Remember when Obama proclaiimed, as an outsider, no more status quo! What does 'O' the great pretender do, he picks Joe Biden the long'time Insider and now surrounds himself with Clintons staff! I'm expecting Bill Richardson to be Secretary of State, as a reward for him rescuing Obama during the Rev., Wright crisis. Politics as usual. Richardson sold friends Bill & Hill out for personal gain!

You say "we don't care what you think" yet you continue to READ and COMMENT on her articals. Your actions speak louder then your words.

I apologize for once promoting Hillary!
When the unwise Obama snubbed Clinton, who won the Popular vote (if they hadn't diluded her Fla count) and picked slow Joe for VP instead, I changed partys! Hillarys l8 million unhappy supporters at first made sense but many ended up being fickle and weak minded and forgave and accepted the unqualified Rookie 'O'. Shame on them and shame on the Clintons for putting their ambitions before country! Hill & Bill had to do their Democratic duty but they didn't have to go so far. Hillary made a fool of herself!

You call Amanda a "political hack" yet come here and do nothing but tow your party's line lock, stock and barrel. If Amanda is a "political hack" what does that make you?

Is there nothing positive you can say about the Republican party or any specific Republican? I understand siding with the left, but to never have one positive, kind or appreciative remark regarding your opponents is mean spirited and close minded. If you really wanted to possibly sway others with your opinions verses just being a troll, your arguments would contain both constructive and positive remarks along with negative ones.
I might not love Obama but I can appreciate his ability to motivate others and his persistence to get what he wants. That's what makes a successful person. It doesn't take away from my candidate, my cause, or my worth to admit that others whom I don't agree with have some good ideas or qualities.

As for Hillary, maybe that's the bone Obama threw out to her to get her support during the campaign. And by extension, it's the bone he throws out to those Clinton supporters who did not vote for him as a way to placate them for the next 4 years. If she is successful, then it reflects well on him. If she is not, I think he can find a way to blame her personally so she takes the hit for it, instead of him for choosing her. That is if he does offer her the position.

Things that make you go hmmmm
Why aren't more people screaming about the Clinton's foreign financial donations?!?!?!?! Why can’t we tell the American public what that really means ??!!! The liberal media has watered down that statement to prevent any backlash to her nomination. Do you know where those foreign donations came from??? How about one of the most barbaric Communist nations we have in the world today.

Red China has made numerous large donations to Clinton and the democratic coffers. This alone should put the fear of God in us. Communist China has America, (and the Clintons) by the balls financially, and in turn, we’ve turned a blind eye to the human atrocities and genocide that has killed 60 MILLION innocent Chinese citizens.

Hitler's Nazism pales in comparison.

Why should we care? Well, we have given China the green light to continue their march toward world dominance, and they have already formed strategic partnerships with Venezuela and Cuba. Taiwan has a shaky hold on its democracy, and while we agreed to protect them from a Communist intrusion from China, now more of our loyalty (through funding) lies with a Communist giant.

You think Hillary is going to stand up to them if they threaten military takeover of Taiwan? China would LOVE to have her as SoS. Makes me wonder about that big amount of money China recently infused into our failing economy. Payoff to put her in that slot, perhaps?

Things that make you go, hmmmmmm.

Hey Julie
I like your style, but we share the same moniker. It would be awkward if folks confused us.

Any suggestions on how we could avert this? I'm willing to change my online name, maybe adding a middle name or something.

I'm sure you wouldn't want my posts attributed to you, just as I don't want yours attributed to me.

So, what do you think?
