Jesse "The Body" Ventura to Run for Senate?
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 11:24 AM
According to Jake Tapper:

"In an interview with NPR's David Welna that ran today  former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Ind-Minn., sounds like he may run for Senate, challenging incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., whom Ventura defeated for governor in 1998, as well as Democratic nominee and former Saturday Night Live humorist Al Franken."

It's for attention
I'm sure that Ventura didn't expect to win the governorship either. He was trying to get back into local talk radio, where he'd had some success in the past, and became a candidate mostly for that reason--for self-promotion. But because he was relaxed and funny in the debates, and had the persona of a regular guy, a political outsider, ready to take on the "corrupt system," he caught on. He also brought out a lot of new young voters that were eager to turn the system on its head. If Ventura runs for the Senate, it'll be for the same reason--publicity--to get a stalled career moving again. Minnesota fell for his act once, but I don't think they'll bite again. Coleman seems like a pretty safe bet to win this time.

Ventura's an arse
Have you seen his dyed-jet-black-I'm-not-really-65 hair? Yuck.

He was great in "Predator" though.

Let me ask my co-blogger
He suffered through The Body's administration, and he's still in the land of 10,000 lakes, so he should have a feel as to whether Ventura the Toofer's serious, or if he'll do anything more than steal some of the vote that would otherwise go to Franken.

Questions already answered
I guess I should've gone back through the archives; Shoebox already answered the Ventura questions last week - http://norunnyeggs.com/2008/07/minnesota-senate-will-jesse -run/

The takeaway - recent polling suggests Coleman would win by double digits in either a two-man or three-man race.

Since it's all theater anyway....
How about a cage match between Jesse The Body and Stuart Smalley.....?

Coleman can be the distracted referee.....
