Feingold Cites Somalia Precedent
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 1:19 PM

Senator Feingold said this yesterday:

“Now, for those who won’t believe that [cutting off funding] has ever been done or that it can't -- or they'd say – it can't be done, let me cite an example from not that long ago. On October 1993, Congress enacted an amendment sponsored by the senior senator from West Virginia cutting off funding – cutting of funding – for military operations in Somalia effective march 31, 1994.”

-- SEN. RUSS FEINGOLD (D-WI) 03/15/07, Congressional Record

But does he remember this?

BIN LADEN: “We believe that the defeat of America is possible, with the help of God, and is even easier for us, God permitting, than the defeat of the Soviet Union was before.”

Q: “How can you explain that?”

BIN LADEN: We experienced the Americans through our brothers who went into combat against them in Somalia, for example. We found they had no power worthy of mention. There was a huge aura over America -- the United States -- that terrified people even before they entered combat. Our brothers who were here in Afghanistan tested them, and together with some of the mujahedeen in Somalia, God granted them victory. America exited dragging its tails in failure, defeat, and ruin, caring for nothing. America left faster than anyone expected. It forgot all that tremendous media fanfare about the new world order, that it is the master of that order, and that it does whatever it wants. It forgot all of these propositions, gathered up its army, and withdrew in defeat, thanks be to God.”

OSAMA BIN LADEN, 2001

Once again, liberals would love to play right into the hands of the terrorists.

I haven't been a TH visitor for a very long time but I have been here long enough and, read hundreds (at least) of postings from various folks. Enough to have identified at least a few of the posters for what they are... Moderate, Democrat, Republican alike.
I dare say I have, in a short time, come to be able to identify posters (like Lydia) for what they are after a few of their more memorable ravings.
Believe me... some of what I've read that she authored hints that she is a Moooooon-BAT extraordinaire!!!
A REAL 'Hate America First Lefty' from what I can tell.

proof of bias!
This vlog is simply proof of MKH and Townhall's rank right-wing bias. They attempted to develop a "fair" news team that represents a fair cross section of the community. I heard reports that Oscar the Grouch was denied a spot as a reporter. This simply shows MKH's disdain for the plight of the homeless. In addition, she REFUSED to include the Sesame Street likeness for Cindy Sheehan. Ms. Sheehan represents the views of the majority of San Franciscans and Democratic politicians. How can any news service be "fair and balanced" without her views prominently on display?

For shame!

Actually, some Repubs go on Colbert, some don't, but one of Colbert's biggest boosters on the Hill is Republican Jack Kingston of Georgia, who even invited Colbert to pitch his show to to a group of Republican staffers last year.

Many Republicans and Dems have used it as a great media hit. A couple have screwed up. As far as I know, there's no official request by Republican leadership to avoid Colbert, like Emanuel's for the Dems. In fact, Kingston's endorsement and encouragement is rather the opposite. But thems are just facts. Who needs 'em, right?

As for the "sycophants," they're just normal people reading and watching a product they like. You're a guy who spends time reading, watching, and commenting on something you openly dislike. Who is it that needs a life?

Note to self:
"You are only allowed to express an opinion if it is negative and meant to tear the subject down."

Any deviation will result in said rule being used toward you and you will be subject to pedantic name-calling.

Check.
