romney's not the pick. was'nt ed rollins one of reagons guys? i would think he would know the real deal when he sees it |
|
|
Although I prefer Mitt over Pawlenty. Still, Ed Rollins and Huckabee need to show some class and stop attacking Romney...Period. |
|
are pathetic. Fox made a big mistake hiring the "court jester". Oh, maybe not, since he keeps exposing & confirming why Conservatives don't respect him.
Since when is it horrible to own homeS (pl)?
Ed Rollins & Huckabigot need to officially join the democrat party...it suits them more. |
|
|
It said if Powell was running he would handily beat McCain. A McCain-Powell ticket would be interesting. Powell is probably more moderate than McCain on a lot of issues, but I think he is pro life, and is a Republican. I do not see it happening (who knows he might show up in Denver tomorrow)--but I will throw that out for discussion. |
|
Didn't you just love how Bill Clinton DICTATED baracks campaign platform last night & what he WILL do! What a set up hahahaha!...michelle (aka the grinch who stole Christmas) scowled! Protesters for Hillary too! Talk about unity...
|

I don't understand WHY every breath huck takes, he has to say something negative about Mitt. What's the deal? Why can't they just let it go. It would be easier on Huck in the future, if he and his minions did not work so hard to keep Mitt down.
And who gives a flying front door how many homes they have between them. At least they can MAKE their payments on their homes, and don't have shill on Fox. |
|
This really is below contempt. Even the Clintons have been able to portray, at least on on the surface, their support for Obama.
Huckabee and his supporters could lose all respect of nearly the entire GOP. |
|
The Jacksonian attacks against the McCain-Romney team combined homes do have some traction. But I agree it is a rather minor point overall on whether someone is qualified to be President or not (and while Mitt had privilege growing up, his fortune is almost all self made due to him really being good at picking and turning around companies).
I do not get the bitterness of the Huckaphiles against Romney. It really makes no sense anymore. |
|
Please for once allow common sense to intercede into your "everynody who disagrees with me is antimormon" template and just get over it.
You are sounding like a bunch of three year olds who didn't get a big enough piece of pie.
Rollins has not been with Huckabee for months. He is free to say anything he wants and he answered the question directly and accurately. But he alone is responsible for his answer.
I am sorry you guys are upset that you or the republican elites can't control Huckabee. He is is own man, beholden to no one, and not for sale!!!!
Whatever happens tomorrow, Huck is not going away. He will be a force in conservative politics for years to come. I bet that really puts your panties in bunch, doesn't it? |
|
|
I find it interesting that Mitt Romney is working hard to support and put the spotlight on John McCain, while Mike Huckabee is working hard to support and put the spotlight on Mike Huckabee. |
|
In reading through these posts I didn't find a single claim of anti-mormonism there, unless I missed something. Is that all you're looking for?
It is starting to appear that is you who keeps bringing that issue up.
Starting to grasp at straws, are we? |
|
Huckabee had not ran his mormon hating campaign and so many evangelicals had not swallowed the garbage, Romney would be the nominee and I would be voting in this election. As a Catholic, I find Huckabee and his supporters continued venom to be anti-christian and anti-American. |
|
Huckabee was the worst thing to happen to the Republican ticket in a long time. You can thank him for ending up with McCain.
I hate to be the one to say I told you so, but I told you so.
Wait, I love saying that. It's that other thing I hate saying. |
|
|
In other news... Matt Lewis is still campaigning against Huck. |
|
many of us thank God that the GOP ended up with JSM instead or Mitt the Switcher. |
|
|
McCain's insistence on amnesty and refusal to enforce the laws of this country will be what costs him the election. No one's fault but his own. |
|
You are smarter than your last post.
The whole huckabiogt line is rampant all over town hall. You know this.
The primary reason for NAALDS for opposition to Huckabee is perceived, imagined, baseless assumptions that Huck is a bigot.
lo titles his post "Huckabigot & his cronies"
and yet you claim that I am bringing this up.
The bigot chant is a mirror image of the racist chant by the liberals against conservatives. It is void of meaning and blatantly false.
I am sick and tired of the baseless accusations against Huckabee. You all love Rush, right. yesterday, Rush acknowledged that for months and throughout the primary(he did a nexus search) Huck said the problem was mitts morphing positions and not his religion.
I will NOT let you continue this liberal style attack on Gov. Huckabee, unopposed. As long as you continue with these baseless, pernicious, petty attacks, you will hear from me. |
|
So long as huckles the clown exits the political stage, I'm all for Matt dogging him ! The dude is a total embarrassment to the conservatives.
Oh, word is Secret Service dispatched to San Diego. Who's there today? Hummmm. |
|
What is wrong with candidates having a number of homes. Who wants a failure for a president? There is NO BETTER choice for president or VP than Mitt in our opinion. Huckabee's people attacked Romney viciously and mainly on his being a Mormon. It is interesting that those who accuse Mormons of not being Christian often act very unchristanlike. Mormons contribute to any community in which they live and fast 2 meals every month contributing what they would have spent for food to help others. The Church spends millions of dollars every year on humanitarian causes throughout the world. Mitt and his family have spent their lives contributing to these causes. Mitt was encouraged to run for president to help the country. It is not a matter of fame, power, and money with him. He succeeded academically and has had success in business understanding the economy and how it works. He had a perfect SAT score, graduated near the top of his class at the most respected universities and has spent his life rescuing businesses (saving more jobs than lost), cutting the tax burden to citizens of Massachusetts, cleaned up and saved the winter olympics, etc. There is much to admire in his personal and professional life. Why would any clear thinking American not want him to the VP or not vote for him because he is a Mormon? It seems jealously, evangelical hatred etc. must cloud clear vision. It is a very sad commentary that according to Krauthammer Mitt was defeated by Huckabee's "whispering campaign"...Very unchristianlike right? An attack on the number of homes Mitt has is much more palitable!
|
|
who refuses to see.
Of course Huckabee is not going to come out and say "Mormonism is a cult" or "Mitt is not qualified to be POTUS because he has been easily deceived by lying, power-hunger cult leaders". He's not particulary bright but he's not stupid. He knows that would be political suicide, but that is exactly the message he has sent numerous times, and obviously what he believes. Do you deny that?
We can again go through how I got there if you would like but I think you've already been presented with the evidence.
Huckabee can think or say anything he pleases but at the brink of the GOP convention wouldn't it show a little class to say he supports whoever McCain decides on? After all, even the Clintons say the right things about Obama and Bide, while I'm sure underneath it's killing them. It's pretty sad that the Clinton's can show more class than Huckabee.

Rush Conservative:
Baseless attacks on Huckabiggot? When asked what he thought about Romney's religion, Huckabee had the opportunity to be a gentleman, tell the truth, and thereby win the respect of millions of LDS members in America. Instead this "ordained baptist minister" fibs and tells national media, "Don't Mormons believe that Satan and Jesus are brothers????" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Now what sort of unity and respect was that comment intended to generate 'Rush Conservative'? What a below the belt dishonest comment from someone who knows better.
He could have answered in a number of ways, but instead chose to purger himself and slander the Christian faith of millions of LDS Americans. He lost our respect, and our vote. Huckabee was doing well in the inter-mountain states, until that comment. That is why the land-slide vote went to Romney.
Well, that and the perception that Huckabee knows nothing about the economy or foreign policy, or domestic policy, or national security or... |
|
"Why would any clear thinking American not want him to the VP or not vote for him because he is a Mormon? It seems jealously, evangelical hatred etc. must cloud clear vision."
No clear thinking American does. The problem is NOT his religion. What about it are you NAALDS not able to understand? You painted a rather rosy picture of Romney in your post. You don't believe anything about Romney that isn't filtered by Hugh Hewitt or NAALDS leadership.
Huckabee is not anti-mormon. He IS anti-Romney. and for good reason. Romeny has a clear record of changing his positions to get elected. Runs as a liberal against Kennedy in 94. Runs as a moderate/liberal to get elected as Gov of MA.
And now you expect us to believe the is the uber-conservative. I am sick of sycophantic bloggers, radio personalities, et. al. of siding with wealth, position, and influence. The people decide, not the conserveratti. Romney has been weighed in the balances and found wanting. |
|
Seriously. You don't really think Rush believes Huck's problem isn't Mormonism. )At least ONE of his problems, anyway, there are so many.)
We all know exactly what Rush thinks of Huckabee - he was the first one to say Huckabee was playing identity politics against Romney.
Rush, (unlike so many on TH), can add 2 + 2.
|
|
How many homes does Romney have? I think Romney has one less home than John Kerry has.
Funny how the Democrats don't care when its their guy with money.
BTW, Romney's money came from his own ingenuity, genius, leadership and success.
|
|
You seem to have an adversarial relationship with the truth.
EVERYONE knows how Huckabee played the anti-Mormon card. EVERYONE, except you and eddie too. It doesn't matter how many facts you know, you still cant bring yourself to admit the truth. It's bordering on a mental disorder.
NAALDS? - and who is the "leadership"?
(And you don't want to be perceived as bigoted at Huck . . . .)
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. :-) |
|
Apparently, he STILL want to kick Romney's teeth out, and kick him in the groin.
I guess it's no accident that those 2 clowns ended up on the same team.
It's so funny. They have no idea how much they actually help Romney. All Romney has to do is sit there and smile. |
|
Huck is not a bigot (some of his followers are but probably not Rollins). Huck is an opportunist who ran one of the best Guerrilla Marketing Campaigns in the history of the GOP.
Huck knows if Romney gets the VP slot that Huck's future hopes are pretty dim. He sometimes seems bitter. I get the impression he feels that he was "called" to become the nominee and then President and somehow the "miracle" only partly happened. Politics for Huck is a crusade. He has talent but is blinded by his faith in his crusade.
Win or lose, life will go on for Romney and he will make the best of it. He does not have a crusade. He does not have to try to force fit his "vision" on history.
|
|
You can't be paying attention.
"Huckabee can think or say anything he pleases but at the brink of the GOP convention wouldn't it show a little class to say he supports whoever McCain decides on?"
He has said that exact thing in nearly every interview, poeple ask him and he goes out of his way to say he will support McCain not matter who he picks.
The lack of class is available for all to see.
Knee-jerk reactions to perceived anti-mormon slights has caused all NAALDS members to lose their critical thinking skills.
Other than the "Spirit brothers" question, which has been refuted by myself and others many times before, you cannot produce one remotely close to anti-mormon thing that Huckabee has said.
Huck apologized for that comment by the way and went out of his way to say immediately, that he did not mean for it to be derogative and emphasized immediately that Romney's religion should have nothing to do with his electability.
This is a MSM and NAALDS generated controversy.
|
|
NAALDS stands for the NAtional association for the advancement of Latter Day Saints.
I conied the term because you guys use the same type of insulting, attacking style as the NAACP.
It is clear to ANYONE who reads TH that this a is a valid comparison.
"EVERYONE knows how Huckabee played the anti-Mormon card."
That's easy for you to say, but your saying it doesn't make it true anymore than Krauthammer saying it doesn't make it true. Your statement is a lie. It is illogical, nonsensical and purely emotional garbage.
At every opportunity, Huck has said that Romney's religion should not be counted against him, every opporunity.
There is nothing else he could say about the matter. |
|
I should not have gotten dragged into this again because it does no good. You and your NAASBC, I guess will just have to follow Huck wherever he leads you.
Yes, Huck has said he will support whoever McCain picks - in the same sentence that he says Romney is not a good pick. Have you heard any of the other percieved VP contenders utter any such statement? Some class. |
|
I liked Thompson at first, but he never woke up. I liked Hunter, tancredo, parts of McCain, parts of Romney, Parts of Guliani. I don't even know now some of their religious affiliations. I think Bush as done a goot to great job, he is Methodist. My favorite legislator is Jeff Flake from Arizona, mormon I believe.
I do not use religion as a basis to cast my vote, never have, never will with one exception, I will never vote for a muslim candidate.
|
|
How many Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherns, Catholics, - any denomination than Mormon, do you think the members of your clever but biggoted invention NAALDS, have voted for?
Your insinuation is that Mormon's would only vote for a Mormon candidate.
I have tried to be patient with you but you are a moron, and you are offensive. |
|
the NAALDS have HDS. Their disorder is complicated by their inability to distinguish between Mitt Romney's public life and his religious affiliation. They believe an attack on Romney is an attack on the LDS. Nothing you or anyone else says will dissuade them of this delusion. Most everyone notices that the charges of bigotry fly out of the self-proclaimed LDS posters everytime Romney is criticized. Weird is not it?
|
|
The Huckabigot is a hater. I have never in my life seen the sort of vile religious bigotry exhibited by Mike Huckabigot...er...Huckabee during the primaries. The anti-Mormon hatred of Mike Huckabee was on display back when he visited Salt Lake City (1999, wasn't it?), and sadly, it burns even brighter today.
The Huckabigot's beady little eyes flash with hatred every single time he refers to any Mormon, but most especially Mitt Romney-his political, intellectual, and moral superior.
The Huckabigot's small man's complex is in full bloom. The Huckabigot really needs some serious meds. Calm down, Huckabigot! Don't you get it? America just doesn't want you! |
|
Mike Huckabee's latest underhanded behavior does not surprise me at all. Huckabee kissed John McCain's butt throughout the primaries because he wanted to be VP. And, he downgraded Mitt Romney and his Mormon religion every chance he got.
Huckabee is both a brown-noser and a backstabber. Great combination from the Christian Guy. |
|
Governor Huckabee has never disparaged or attacked the LDS religion.
Latter day and Mclame hater you both lie and cannot support your lying allegations.
Hopefully, the damage you are trying to cause to good people will be prevented by bringing your lies into the light. |

Me- I said this to a Obama supporter who was whining Clinton wasn't doing enough to get his guy elected, and it fits here, too.
It isn't Huck's job to get McCain elected. That's McCain's job. If McCain is going to slap evangelicals in the face by picking Romney, then he deserves to lose, and he will.
Do you think Romney would be trying this hard if he wasn't sucking up really bad to be the Veep Pick. Of course he wouldn't.
|

All this talk about people not liking Romney because of his Mormonism is garbage. WE don't like Romney because he is a two-faced liar and closet liberal (just like his beloved McCain).
When he was a governor, this man was so liberal he makes Barack Obama look like Ronald Reagan. He will say or do anything for any hint of power (which is way he has been wiping McCain's behind for him during the last six months). Pro-abortion and pro-gay marriage one day then... OH WAIT... I can run for the Presidency? Really, ma, really?? OH BOY! I'll say whatever you want. WHATEVER YOU WANT!
The problem is that Mitt supporters think that anyone who doesn't like him either hates Mormonism or loves Huck (or both). The truth is that it's always been about the man's CHARACTER and VALUES.
John McCain, Mitt Romney, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama... jeez, what else do I have to say? They should all go off and form their own party. It doesn't matter who's elected... America's heading in the same direction!!! |

That is pathetic,
and Laura Ingraham thinks so too.

The only reason Huckabee is not the top of the ticket is because "The Establishment" sucked the Oxygen out of his campaign. Why? Because Huckabee wasn't beholden to anyone but "We the People". With all that was thrown against Huckabee he still was #2 in GOP delegates.
Huckabee connects with "the people". A McCain/Huckabee ticket would appeal to all who hold conservative ideals (limited government, free markets, massive tax reform, etc.) true to heart.
The biggest risk to McCain in going with Huckabee would be threats by GOP Establishment financial backers who want to keep power/wealth flowing up vs. level the playing field for all citizens of our lands.
McCain/Huckabee would be the best team for our greater prosperity and security going forward.

Romney = The Establishment I come back to my original post from earlier today…
The Establishment candidate(s) = beholden to The Establishment Mitt Romney founded Bain Capital Bain Capital conveniently acquired Clear Channel Communications in December ‘07 Clear Channel Communications pays big contracts to Rush, Sean, Laura, etc. Legal? Absolutely. Influence? Definitely. Do you think that the talking heads would be so smitten with Mitt otherwise? Mitt Romney = (or would be beholden to) The Establishment
It is clear that Romney will say/do anything to gain political power. Pro-Choice, pro gay marriage, anti-Reagan to become Gov. in liberal Mass… Pro-life, anti-gay-marriage, pro-Reagan during the GOP primaries. This is how most who aren’t brainwashed by the biased talking heads view Gov. Romney.
If we want to continue to be slaves of “The Establishment” we will continue to vote for candidates who are beholden to them, special interests, and Washington fat cats.
If we want to break the cycle and win back the country for “We the People”, we will elect candidates who are from the people and for the people.
Turn a blind eye if you choose but think carefully… you know this to be true.

Gov. Huckabee brings the complete conservative package to the ticket - with credibility and authenicity. I am not so sure about the others.
I like that Gov. Huckabee is not beholden to "The Establishment" that keeps our country paralyzed and polarized and keeps "We The People" rolling our eyes in angish and disbelief.
I wish we could say the same thing for Romney but he truly does lack credibility and he is certainly a big part of "The Establishment".
It is time that "We The People" take back our country from the Washington and Wall Street elite by backing a change agent who will ultimately bring us bold tax reform with the FairTax, empower individuals and small business over large government bureaucracy and mega-corporations.
We need Huckabee for our generations and for future generations.

I equate those here on TH who insist on bigotry as an issue are equivalent to those in the Obama campaign who claim "race" as an issue when bringing up negatives about Obama.
Get over it please. There is no credibility on the bigotry issue.

I'll support McCain regardless of his VP pick, even if it is Mitt, but Romney is not my preference. Huckabee is not high on my list either, but I would prefer him to Mitt.
In my view, Romney has taken both sides of too many issues in the past, which leaves me curious as to what he really believes. I see Mitt as the GOP's obama.
Yes he is working hard to help elect McCain, and he may very well get the nod, not a deal breaker for me. Personally, I don't think so, but then who am I?
All I know is that my opinion carries as much weight as anyone else on TH and we are all entitled to support, or not, whomever we wish, for whatever reason. So, we shouldn't be insulting each other because we have a different opinion about who can lead us to the promise land.
In regard to Huck attacking Romney, I don't see it that way. I think as a rule we are quick to defend our preferred candidate when there is the perception that they are being treated unfairly.
Perception is important! I personally believe that Romney has taken highly questionable positions on important issues, but whether true or not, the perception is still a problem and did more to derail his campaign in the primaries than anything else.
In spite of outspending all the other candidates combined, he could not get any traction. You can blame it on McCain, Huckabee, or Paul, but you must admit that all is fair in love, war, and yes even in politics.
Once again, Romney or Huckabee is not a deal breaker for me, but truth be told, I would respectfully prefer neither. I think either of these two will be a problem in the general.
My thought? I really believe he needs to pick a woman!

And if he were listening, McCain should be grateful for the reminder. |

Lemme start by saying that most posters say the same thing over and over again. It is very frustrating to try to engage a conversation here.
For some reason your's stood out. Not because I agree with all of it, but because it showed some actual thought. ===
BG writes: 'Huck is not a bigot (some of his followers are but probably not Rollins).'
ME: Yes, I think that is right. Rollins is a nominal Catholic, from what I can tell. He isn't much interested in any religious angle.
He jumped in the Huckabee campaign because Rollins liked the populistic style Huck was employing. He saw a little bit of Reagan there (another populistic politician). Its also what attracted Rollins to Perot.
Moreover, I'm quite sure that Rollins would've said pretty much the same thing about the McCain-Romney "houses" had he never been part of the Huckabee campaign. Because, as Matt Lewis points out, this is the kind of thing he is paid to do as TV pundit.
The point is, the Dems can exploit the elitism angle in their advertising in the blue collar states when there are two super-rich guys on the Republican side who own oodles of houses.
The problem is different for Repubs. than for Dems. Its ok to be rich on the Dem side (John Kerry, the Kennedys) because the Dems don't have to fight the reputation that they are working at the behest of rich. This is largely because they are in bed with the labor unions.
The Republicans have to fight the historical caricature that they are carrying water for management which wants to grind down the worker to squeeze out just a little more profit.
And thus buy more houses, while the worker worries about hanging on to the one they are paying on for half a lifetime. |

Want to buy an election...? Have enough money to influence the airways...?
Personally, I think our enemies meddle with U.S. politics to get morons elected all the time. If you have tons of oil money & want to keep the U.S. from drilling its own oil, why not fund Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, & gang? How can politicans do the exact opposite of what is in our best interest and keep us rolling our eyes in anguish and disbelief? There is something going on behind the scenes...
Romney's self-funding I consider different. I don't view Romney as an enemy of the U.S. I do view Romney as an opportunist with extensive means though.
Personally, I trust the little guy who is consistent and who has more credibility/common sense than the business tycoon who has too many friends in high places.

This guy is unbelievable. He never liked Romney, and now if he can prevent McCain from choosing him, he feels he has done his job.
McCain hopefully sees right through this, and, to spite Huckabee, chooses Romney anyway.
Romney, I believe, will be the strongest debater against "slow Joe" Biden.
I honestly don't know who McCain will pick, but Huckabee should NOT be on even the LONG LIST. |
|
DON'T THINK SO!
The only conservative side to this man is on social issues.
Huckabee also believes that he is the one that McCain should listen to. I hope that McCain has tuned him out . . . along with Rollins. |
|
Please, you will have to do better than that.
All of those items have been gone over. All are politial half-truths or not relevant in the slightest.
I don't expect political candidates to be without questionable issues. I hardly expect them to have made 100% correct decisions throughout their careers. I do expect consistency, authenticity, heart, and vision though.
Shelby, want to take a stab at addressing relevant Romney issues at the following link?

BG writes: 'Huck is an opportunist who ran one of the best Guerrilla Marketing Campaigns in the history of the GOP.'
ME: Every successful politician is an "opportunist". Which is to say they see an opportunity and they maximize it. Clinton overreached on healthcare and NEWT saw an opportunity to exploit that in his quest to take the House.
Clinton reeling from the Republican takeover saw an opportunity to exploit NEWT's hubris during the gov't shutdown -- and Slick Willy siezed that moment.
Huckabee didn't have an unlimited supply of funds to launch a carpet bombing airwar on the other candidates the way Mitt did on Huck and Mac.
So, Huck had to use a "guerrilla style", as you said. Huckabee actually has been outmaneuvering his opponants all his career. Its how he was such a successful Governor.
BG writes: 'Huck knows if Romney gets the VP slot that Huck's future hopes are pretty dim.'
ME: Yes, this isn't about 2008. McCain is an interim figure.
The campaign for 2012 (or 2016) began the day Mitt dropped out. Huck stayed in (in part) to get an early start on the next cycle. (He knew --absent a miracle-- he had lost the nomination in South Carolina).
He was able to campaign in the later states during this cycle, but ~FOR~ next cycle.
Huck knows he isn't the VP (and VP doesn't suit him, anyway). If Romney gets the VP slot that gives him a leg up for the next election cycle. If McCain picks someone who has never ran nationally before, that is not so much of a concern.
The establishment GOP has picked their horse for the future --Mitt Romney. Huckabee is an insurgent --somewhat Buchannan like-- he isn't interested in pleasing the poobahs. He is out to change the party from the bottom up. |

Geez, relax. It doesn't matter who McShame picks. You are going to get Dem Light no matter what.
boomerbabe - I agree except I will vote 3rd party.

HUCKABEE IS ANTI-MORMON. HE TRIES TO HIDE IT, BUT HE SPOKE AT AN ANTI-MORMON RALLY IN SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH A FEW YEARS AGO. YOU'LL NOTICE THAT HE CONTINUALLY BRINGS UP RELIGION WHEN TALKING ABOUT ROMNEY. OF COURSE, HE ALWAYS DENIES IT'S AN ISSUE, BUT CONTINUALLY BRINGS IT UP AND MAKES SURE EVERYONE KNOWS THAT HE BELIEVES THAT ROMNEY'S MORMONISM IS AN ISSUE FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE- EFFECTIVELY MAKING IT AN ISSUE FOR THOSE WHO BLINDLY FOLLOW HUCK FURTHER AND FURTHER OFF THE CHARTS. THIS GUY IS DECEPTIVE AND UNDER-HANDED. [REMEMBER HIS "CROSS" APPEARING BEHIND HIM IN THE COMMERCIAL? REMEMBER HIS DECISION NOT TO AIR HIS OTHER NEGATIVE COMMERCIAL? HE TURNED AROUND AND SHOWED IT TO THE PRESS. HOW ABOUT WHEN HE ASKS, ON NATIONAL AIRWAVES, "DON'T MORMONS BELIEVE JESUS AND SATAN ARE BROTHERS?" DON'T YOU THINK A TRAINED ANTI-MORMON WOULD KNOW THE ANSWER?] HUCK IS DECEPTIVE AND BIGOTED. THE GOP DOESN'T NEED THIS SORT OF BEHAVIOR IN THE PARTY; IT'S UNAMERICAN AND EMBARRASING, NOT TO MENTION DIVISIVE. |

and hating Huckabee and his supporters because they aren't in the tank for Romney. And then you all have the Audacity to say it's because of the church. "Our religion is being dissed and Romney is being dissed because he is Mormon."
Bull! I get sick of your whining about the church. With me, it isn't the church that is sickening, it is your whining about poor Romney having to suffer the attacks from Huckabee's camp but you apparently feel that it's perfectly all right for you constantly and incessantly throw out snide and rude comments about Huckabee.
And as far as Romney is concerned, I don't give a hoot what religion he is; he could be buddha for all I care. The problems I have with him are all the different positions he took of different issues when it suited him best, personally. I do not trust him.
As far as Huckabee not liking Romney, why shouldn't he be allowed to say that? Would you rather he lie, like all the other politicians do and kiss butt like they do? Why can't he be allowed to tell the truth? Maybe you people don't like the truth because you're too used to hearing lies from politicioans so that's all you want to hear anymore.
Your Romney lies too ya know!
At least realize that HUCKABEE WILL SUPPORT A ROMNEY MC CAIN TICKET if that's how it goes. That is the important thing. And remember, truthfully, (if Romney would tell it,) HE DOES NOT LIKE HUCKABEE EITHER, but he doesn't have the guts to say how he feels because he needs to keep pretending he's the nice guy - ha, good try, but not everone is buying that bullcrap! |

I should add that Guilani and Pawlenty are working to help elect John McCain as well. Huckabee should look to their example IMO. |

And we can finally put the religious wars to rest. Neither Romney nor Huckabee will be the VP.

Just because a few folks are playing hardball (because the stakes are high) by asking the right questions and only because we have pointed to some significant evidences – is it really fair to refer to this as “bigotry?”
Didn’t Christ himself call followers to “salt” the earth (the preservative quality) and to provide “light” where there was darkness(untruth)? How can you reduce people that find meaningful fault with a religion based on factual evidences to mere “bigots?” Isn’t that just like the age old tactic of relativists and liberals to label the opposition as “intolerant”?
In the same manner that some of us chanted “character matters” during the Clinton administration, today, in the age of Romney (VP?), we are suggesting that “religion matters.” To some people, belief systems like Mormonism/ Scientology/ Jehovah's Witness provide the soil for flipping & flopping (and Romney is a personification of these qualities- reinforcing the concern).
We need solid ground for our leaders. Can’t we ask the tough questions?
|
|
... and I don't think I'll be staying. Be honest - who has the ax to grind here? Ed Rollins was asked his opinion about Romney as VP and he gave it. Mike Huckabee is being asked for his opinion about who would make a good VP for McCain - he's even being paid for it - and he gives it.
The reason they both have similar opinions is probably because they are both intimately acquainted with Romney's polling numbers.
Romney would definitely not generate any excitement or enthusiasm beyond the very small number of loyalists here - certainly not among the undecided voters that McCain is trying to reach now.
And he would lose McCain more votes among Republicans than he would bring in - that's not my opinion, but a fact based on the polling numbers.
You can hate Huckabee all you want - as you clearly are looking for anything & everything that allows you to do so - but at least be honest enough to recognize your candidate's political weaknesses for what they are. |
|
|
Romney had attacked or criticized Huckabee also. You're just sensitive when it comes to religion or christianity issues. That's all.I bet if someone mentions the name Jesus in public, you won't like it,but if he/she mentions the name Allah,it's okey. |
|
Have not all fallen short?
My only interest in the religion of a candidate is whether it helps them become a better person. Period. I have voted conservatively and not been concerned at all about that person's religion. To base your vote on religion is Un-American.
|
|
|
Most Americans here are anti-Christians,they call themselves conservatives by supporting flip-flopping candidate like Romney, who's not really conservative like McCain.Shame on you. America needs Great Awakening badly. In America, they call evil good and good evil. |
|
Although it might be suitable to disqualify certain candidates solely on the basis religion. Some voters equate Mormonism to the Haley Bop Comet (Nike shoes) Club, or to the L. Ron Hubbard types.
Is it not reasonable to ask questions about how a person's faith conjectures into decision-making? |
|
"To some people, belief systems like Mormonism/ Scientology/ Jehovah's Witness provide the soil for flipping & flopping"
This is a terrible statement and totally untrue. I don't know how you could back such a statement! |
|
|
the Ho-Hum, little-known Governor is more than likely going to be Mc cain's VP. That's no way to make a major impact on the voters decision to vote for him in my opinion. Pawlenty will probably help Mc Cain about as much as Biden helped Obama. |

McCain is as conservative as McCain/Feingold, McCain/Kennedy, McCain/Leiberman, Gang of 14. He's not even the lesser of two evils. You will get amnesty, carbon taxes, more big government.

What did I say that wasn't true? |

Huck has blown his credibility with the mainstream GOP. It's just been one thing after another, starting with anti-Mormonism in Iowa. Does he realize how impotent he's become? All of the recent polls taken this week show that Romney would boost McCain against Obama more than any other person under consideration. And yet, Huckabee continues to try to shine the spotlight on himself rather than on McCain, who is struggling for air time against the Obama-celebrity. Huckabee would sacrifice all of his followers and all of us, if necessary, to win something. What is most pathetic is how he hung around after the primaries and how is is not struggling to keep Romney off of the VP ticket. Why? Because he wants to displace Romney as the GOP darling for 2012. Doesn't he realize that he never had this position and that Romney clinched it when he withdrew and threw his support behind McCain? Huckabee supporters are becoming fewer and fewer- they are getting behind McCain and seeing more and more clearly that Huckabee is a bitter, bigoted, and selfish little fellow who is willing to hurt anyone (including McCain and the GOP) if it might have a chance of making himself look better. The fact, is, the more he talks, the worse he appears in all of our eyes. Maybe he should go back to being a quiet pastor. |
|
for me! I am so weary of the 100 Year's War being played out between Romney and Huckabee supporters! (Yes, I recognize I've provided my share of ammo...)
Here is the bottom line: John McCain will be officially nominated next week. Everyone, deal with it. Sometime in the next few days, he will introduce his pick for Vice President. Whoever it is, deal with it.
Right after Super Tuesday, I said I could never vote for John McCain for President. I took a step back, reviewed the options, and repented of that attitude. The next President will be either John McCain or Barack Obama. It will not be Bob Barr, Chuck Baldwin, Ralph Nader or Cynthia McKinney. Deal with it. The choice between McCain and Obama is stark and clear, and heavily weighted in Mac's favor. Stop fulminating and whining and threatening - make a positive difference and help elect John McCain President of these United States. |

When Gov. Huckabee has said anything negative about Romney lately has been when he answered direct questions. He has consistently said it has nothing to do with Romney's religion and everything to do with his record. He is voicing those concerns because many of us have asked him to. Haven't you seen the polls that were put out a couple weeks ago where Romney gave McCain a negative 6; or the recent release about his true record that turns conservative voters off? http://www.christiannewswire.com/news/810737623.html I can understand the MSM holding back on the recent release of the truth about Romney's record; but I cannot understand the conservative media keeping quiet. Don't they realize that not only the MSM but also the 3rd Party candidates will be merciless in their coverage if Sen. McCain is foolish enough to pick Romney as his VP? Obama and the 3rd party candidates will be swooping around like vultures to pick up any shocked "voters" in the rubble. We care more about the future of America than some petty whining. And Romney will tank the ticket!

Take a good look at Doug's post. This is what offends Mormons. You can dislike him for his policies, for his stances on issues, for his past as a governor, etc., which is all legitimate - debateable, but legitimate.
It's the Dougs and the RushConservatives on TH that receive and deserve the bigotry label - not you. |
|
|
I like Huckabee. I think he is sincere and genuine and would make a great leader. He is not a bigot. I cannot believe the attacks that man has had to endure at the hands of some people. Talk about "bigots" . . . I think many of you need to look at your own words and actions before you accuse someone else. There is a definite anti-Christian attitude on this blog. |
|
"Is it not reasonable to ask questions about how a person's faith conjectures into decision-making?"
I guess so, but then again, your personal
religious beliefs, no matter how sincere, will
always quate with foolishness by others.
Also, your interpretation of Mormons beliefs are
schewed.
You are merely showing your interpretation of Mormon beliefs, not necessarily the beliefs themselves. |

Very well said, Johanan!
Huckabee is becoming the political equivalent of herpes, the gift that keeps on giving long after the giver is gone… ...and equally incurable is seems.

From your own blog here on TH,
the one you don't allow comments on,
the one that you have taken the moniker "Laura Ingraham",
You seem to have a huge problem with
understanding what Mormons believe, how they
believe, and why they believe.
Your intention is not to find those things out,
Your intention is to preach your interpretation
of my belief system.
No Mormon can look at the posts on your blog
without first laughing at how rediculous they
are and second, getting upset that any of it has
anything to do with whether or not a Mormon is
American or Christian enough to be POTUS.
That kind of rhetoric is out of the dark ages.
It's the same stuff that comes out of Iran
against the West and Israel.

If Huck was so good, why did he leave the Arkansas GOP in such disarray they are not even running a Senate candidate. I find the guy to be a bitter and twisted person who having failed as a presidential candidate or even making consideration as VP has turned his venom to Romney. He is the little man who was promoted beyond his abilities.
It's interesting that good solid conservatives like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Anne Coulter, the Club for Growth, etc etc all like Romney. Yet the Huck and his looneys all claim he is a rabid left winger. I didn't see anyone of note on the conservative side husting for the Huck, given his record on tax increases, pardon gate, support for illegal immigrants etc.
Give it up Huck. Just leave the scene. Having said that, there is no way McCain will pick Romney. I think little man Huck has seen to that with he and his goons threats behind the scenes. We'll hear soon I guess. |

Romney Family Gets Security Sweep By David M. Drucker Roll Call Staff August 28, 2008, 1:26 p.m.

You know that Rush, Sean, Laura, Beck, Ann Coulter, the Heritage Foundation, CPAC, and ALL the others are only prostitutes for Mitt Romney. He's paying them all to say nice things about him and has threatened them all that they will be fired if they cross him.
Haven't you been reading these posts, for crying out loud? |

I would ask you your denomination so I could

According to a recent member of Huck's Army that happens to be a Mormon; Gov. Huckabee did not say anything against the Mormon religion when he attended that conference in Utah. He was there to promote his book and talk about the importance to restoring morality in America. Gov. Huckabee has said numerous times that a person's religion should not affect their electability in politics. Here is a quote from the transcript when he was on Glen Beck's show:
BECK: Would you vote for a Mormon?
HUCKABEE: You know, I don`t know that that would be an impediment, but what I really want to do is I want for somebody whose views are not just compatible with mine but whose views are compatible with their views.
I want somebody to be consistent. I want someone whose compass points north and always has. I don`t care if a person disagrees with me.
Quite frankly, Glenn, I can live with someone who is 180 degrees different from me. I just want him to look me in the eye and tell me, "This is what I believe." Not because the political winds are blowing this way...
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0710/19/gb.01.html

McCain and Obama are both unacceptable. I won't vote for either. |
|
It looks like Pawlenty may get the nod. One would hope that this will end the bickering. But we will see it again.
Mitt will continue to burnish his conservative credentials and work to support Republican candidates across the country.
But, should Mitt choose to run again, the anti-Mormons will crank up the hate machine one more to try and put him down.
The Latter-Day-Saints have had to struggle against religious bigotry for 188 years. 4-8 years won't make any difference.
Marxists have been fighting their fight almost as long. They will continue their divisive class struggle as well.
Mitt Romney comprises all the things the left hates. Devout religiosity and personal success and wealth.
As for his so-called flip-flopping. After 4-8 more years of re-inforcing his conservative credentials one would hope that these charges would lose their validity.
But our enemies, both religious and political will dust off the same old quotes and YouTube videos, which will be another 4-8 years older and present them as something new to an ignorant public.
Our enemies will not go away. But neither will we. |
|
If Huckabee is not a bigot (hahahaha) then explain why he tries to trash Romney any chance he can. It's like he's deranged in his hatred and jealousy towards Romney. So maybe that's it...no bigotry...just hatred and jealousy cause Mitt's attractive and successful and has a wonderful family with son's that don't torture animals?
Guess that's gotta be it... |
|
|
Ha! Yeah. I can see that from some of the blogs. Beats me how people can be supporting the Huckster. I put it down to people voting for the guy from their church. It's a shame there is so much crap on religion on this blog. It tends to cloud the issues. I find some of the comments just embarressing. |
|
You think that helps your boy?
With all of the hoopla and accusations of anti-mormonism swirling around Huckabee, wouldn't the answer have simply been - YES?
He talked in circle, as usual. He never said yes.
Sorry, Granny, if that's the only transcript you've got it's highly unconvincing. |
|
Why was the job growth in MA worse than 48 other states. Why is he proud of starting socialist medical care where taxpayers help fund $50 co-pay abortions? Why was the Tax Freedom Day in MA 6 days later after Romney's term than it was when he started (compared to Arkansas' staying the same after Huckabee's 10 1/2 years)
"Romney increased taxes and fees by over $800 million which devastated the Massachusetts economy. He also opposed the Bush Tax Cuts earning him praise from uber-liberal Barney Frank." (from "An Open Letter to Rush Limbaugh")
The elitists hate Huckabee because he is one of those "common" people.
|
|
He's history. It's over for him, he sealed his fate. He's got no political future. He did what he did, and eveyone but Huck's army knows it.
Please. Huck people, have some dignity, even though your leader doesn't. Dont' follow him down the black hole. |

Answering Wolf Blitzer http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0712/12/sitroom.02.h tml
“HUCKABEE: Actually if you’ll talk to the reporter, because he was shocked that that was characterized out of an 8,100-word story, as we were, we thought, good heavens. We were having a conversation. It was over several hours, and the conversation was about religion, and he was trying to press me on my thoughts of Mitt Romney’s religion. And I said I don’t want to go there. I don’t know that much about it. I barely know enough about being a Baptist. And I really didn’t know. Well, he was telling me things about the Mormon faith, because he frankly is fairly well-schooled on comparative religions. And so as a part of that conversation, I asked the question, because I had heard that, and I asked it not to create something — I never thought it would make the story.
After the debate today I went to Mitt Romney and apologized to him, because I said, I would never try, ever, to try to somehow pick out some point of your faith and make it, you know, an issue, and I wouldn’t. I’ve stayed away from talking about Mitt Romney’s faith. And I told him face to face, I said, “I don’t think your being a Mormon ought to make you more or less qualified for being a president.”…Wolf, everybody I’ve talked to just about wants me to come out and say something about Mitt Romney’s faith. I’ve not taken the bait, but if I don’t say something, they say that my avoiding it is really an underlying statement. If I do say anything, then I’m attacking him. So I’m not sure how to deal with that, but I certainly am not in any way getting into that. And as I said to him, I say to you, I don’t think his particular religion is a factor in whether or not people should vote for him or against him…”

Romney is good on the economy. He has actually had employees and made payrolls. We need someone who understands trade with China and other nations and has actually participated in trading with these countries.

the Huck haters minds are made up. All of the facts in the world will not help. Can you picture a small child with his eyes tightly shut and his fingers in his ears going nyah nyah nyah. Now picture the Huck haters. |

and his supporters because they don't have their own army, lol. Why upset! Romney doesn't really care about you, does he? Did the green-eyed monster visit you lately?lol.Drive him away, so you won't be upset at Huckabee and his supporters.Huckabee's supporters are still active, that's why you're jealous of them. You see, when someone is jealous of someone,he can say something unkind to that person like Huckabee. That's our sinful nature, admit it. |
|
We never heard of Huckabee before. This primary season was his debut. Have any of you seen how the VP poll has been going at the American Family Association site? Huckabee had more than all the rest combined. Romney was in a very distant 2nd with less than 1/2 the votes Huckabee had. Huckabee had over 86 thousand votes compared to Romney's over 39 thousand. It was supposed to have been closed yesterday with the results sent on to Sen. McCain. The largest volunteer grassroots effort for the Republican Party is the values voters. The results of that poll should tell people who those grassroots values voters are most enthused with. So, look out people here we come and Gov. Huckabee will be leading the charge! McCain would be wise to tap into that enthusiasm.
|
|
|
Huckabee is McCain's only chance of winning this election. Without the conservative evangelical voters G.W. would have lost in 2004.Many evangelicals stayed home in 2000 but came out strongly for him in 2004. The evangelicals are fervent campaigners and will get the vote out if they believe in the candidate. I for one was starting to warm up to McCain after Saddleback but if he picks a moderate or liberal then I will vote Constitution Party and not Republican for the 1st time in my life. And for all of you that have swallowed the talking heads koolaid (Sean, Rush and National Review) wake-up! Romney was the liberal Gov of a liberal state: Pro big gov (state sponsored healthcare, high taxes, etc),pro-abortion and pro-sodomite marriage. If McCain has wise counsel he will pick the Republican's best communicator and most conservative: Pro smaller gov, getting rid of the IRS burden, strong national defense, strong anti-terrorism, pro-life, pro-traditional marriage and pro-family. May God help us! |

Did I hit a little close to home with the NAALDS?
I have noticed that the most vehement, cruel and vindictive people on this blog are mormons.
To wit I give you the membership of the NAALDS
Gunlock Bill President PC Vice President Qweenmum Secretary Lo Special forces MaineC Newest Inductee.
Your argumentation for Romney and against Huckabee is a mirror image of the NAACP, but your common ground is your mormonism. I am not trashing your faith or even making a judgement about with the term NAALDS.
The NAACP is a joke and so is the NAALDS.
I see the old adage is true.
If you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one who yelps is the one you hit.
It is not me who will abandon the republican party or conservative principles, it is you and the other NAALDSers that would not vote for McCain if you don't get your way.
To all NAALDS. I will vote for McCain Romney if it happens, will you say the same if McCain gets all mavericky and picks Huckabee?
Your answer will reveal where the bigotry is.
|
|
Tripe! All tripe. Once again Shelby and others are distorting facts. The facts are the facts. Romney is who he is and who he was as a Governor: A liberal. Pro-socialism, pro-abortion and pro-homosexual marriage. He is a hipocrite who changed his views in time for the Republican primaries. Again, if McCain picks a liberal/moderate, then I and many, many others will have no choice but to vote for the Constitution Party. Oh, lest I forget, if that happens he will lose. May God help us! |
|
You Huck supporters make me laugh. You all sound a few cent short of a dollar. Hucks the future.., Hucks our best hope... I don't think you are talking about the same guy.
Fact is Hucks gone and won't be back. He is a small man promoted beyond his abilities. He killed the GOP in Arkansas. They won't even be running a Senate candidate. The GOP conservatives say he would beat up on them while making nice with the Democrats. Conservative Baptists complain he ganged up with the liberals to beat them up. It's a joke to see Huck pretend he's conservative.
This small washed up man now has his goal to ensure Romney is not VP.
Again, the strongest conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Anne Coulter, the Club for Growth, Heratige Foundation, etc etc all like Romney. Yet you Huck supporters claim he is a rabid left winger. Um, I think I'd listen to the long time solid conservatives any day over pathetic supporters of the Huck who are blind to his record on tax increases, pardon gate, support for illegal immigrants etc.
Hey Granny, are you really a Granny. You write like a man. |
|
|
You say you are a conservative but yet you will vote for McCain no matter who he picks. If you are a principled conservative I do not see how you can vote for a ticket made up of McCain (no conservative but he has campaigned as one and even threatened to become a Dem) and another liberal/moderate Republican. It would be a slap in the face of the base. Only a conservative VP pick will win. If not the Dems win by a landslide. History has proven this to be true. When Republicans leave their base and values voters, they lose. Wake up Republicans! |
|
|
are they?Hey, I read their comments almost everyday,I've never seen any hateful comments in their websites, you know why, because most of them are God - fearing Christians.Stay away from that green-eyed monster so that you won't hate them. |

You're not very bright are you. Why don't you do your own research to find out about your boy Romney. Just look at his record in Ma. He's a liberal but changed his tone for the primaries. Now go read some truth, it will set you free. Start here from a fellow that initially bought the tripe and drank the koolaid until he researched the facts and got to the truth. http://www.theconservativevoice.com/article/32908.html |

If you can't say anything nice, don't say nothing at all. |
|
You are the most vehement, cruel, vindictive person on TH with the sole exceptions of Eugene and cimaronne. (Nice company you hang with.) But I digress.
Why else would spend 100 posts yelling and screaming about how WRONG Mormonism is. What kind of guy/gal would make up a name for the folks you hate? You are so filled with hate for Mormonsim and Romney you can't see straight.
It's called projection and all you Huckies are doing it. You think we are bigots because we don't like Huckabee? Well, I didn't know he was a religion unto himself. Not one LDS person here has EVER done one bigoted thing against any other religion on TH.
But many, too many to count, Huck supporters have been whining about Mormonism for months on end. "Mormons ARE NOT Christian!!! Mormons are DECEITFUL!!! Mormons can't be trusted!!! Mormons are trying to LOOK like Christians to fit in!!! Mormons are polygamists!!! Mormons are MEAN!!! Mormons are brainwashed!!! Mormons are duped!!! Mormons are clanish and secretive!!!
UnRush, we've heard you loud and clear. You don't like Romney or Mormons. You made up a silly name to call us, big whoop.
Get over yourself and get on with life. Huckabee is toxic, no one will touch him politically after his big sore loser show.
Romney will move on if he's not VP. Have you noticed the groundswell of support for him today? Everyone loves him but Huck's army. I can live with it. |
|
I've never seen so much hate coming from so-called Christians in my entire life. Take Doug, for example today. He said Mormons are TAUGHT to be deceiftul - that why we CAN'T Trust Romney.
Shoot, Doug, I must have been absent that Sunday. I've been going to church for 49 years, but somehow I missed that one.
Maria, I've read all the pro-Huck blogs, you guys are all alike. You think it's your sacred duty before God to stamp out Mormonism, and Huck is your God-sent leader. You would rather have the baby-killer proponent Obama than a good man who is on your side in every single social issue.
You people are pathetic liars. |
|
Yes, I am really the proud Granny of 18 grandkids. Can you explain why you say I "write like a man"???
Your complaints about Arkansas are laughable. People give Romney a free pass for his extremely liberal record in MA because it is a "Democrat state." When he was elected into office; was his door nailed shut from the inside like Huckabee's was? When he went to political gatherings in his state was he seated toward the back and referred to as "that Republican" like it was some dirty word like Huckabee did? Huckabee left office only because of term limits; because he was able to lead the people in a way that he had a majority approval rating. America has Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. Both McCain and Huckabee have a record of reaching across party aisles to get things done and still be re-elected to their positions. That is the type of ticket we need to lure Democrats and Independents away from Obama. Who would you suggest that can do better?
Mitt has a history of saying anything to get elected. He has a history of appointing liberal judges. His approval rating was 48% when he left office. Which means; he had a 52% disapproval rating among those who know him best. Mitt’s walk talks louder than his talk talks. If McCain is foolish enough to pick him; get used to saying President Obama. |
|
"You would rather have the baby-killer proponent Obama than a good man who is on your side in every single social issue."
Romney does not stand on my side for every issue. Oh wait, did he flip again?
It doesn't matter who you vote for. God will put in whoever HE wants and I think it will be Obama. The beginning of the end...........
|
|
That huckles the clown is not the nominee. However, if he is, then I'll deal with it by 1. donating to Obama campaign 2. Campaigning for Obama 3. Voting for mitt in 12, because that ticket is the bigest loser in ever thunk of.
Sorry Huckfans. You've been led down the gilded path to Hell by the biggest liar and farce on the planet. He's the pied piper of stupid. And you followed willingly because he had the 'Rev' in front of his name.
|
|
And A Huckie.
Maybe your not a real conservative, I don't know. But Romney best represents all three components of the traditional conservativism - defense, social and economic. And he has the added benefit of not having pardoned 1000 criminals, lied his way through the primary, and thrown a crybaby fit over the one who won. |
|
|
The inmates have taken over the assylum! TH has been invaded, I'm outta here. |
|
You said, "You think it's your sacred duty before God to stamp out Mormonism." Please don't link me with that crowd; nor Huckabee either. Part of the Baptist fundamental doctrine is "absolute religious liberty for all" which is why the Baptist fought hardest for America's freedom OF religion. My spiritual forefathers fought so Americans would not have to pay taxes for government approved churches. Many of them had homes and property confiscated for failing to pay their dues to help build a church they did not agree with. Read more about "Religion in the United States" at grannyt53.wordpress.com
Sometimes faiths get upset when we think what we believe is correct and we go "fishing" after the same "fish" as a different faith. Sometimes certain religions get territorial and don't want anyone else to go "fishing" in the same pond. That is probably the true religious divide. We need to be able to learn how to debate civilly without calling someone else names. My Baptist church has been accused of being a "cult" by neighboring Catholics; but I'm not crying about it. I just keep sharing the Gospel using Scripture to back up why I believe the way I do. And for the record: I'm still willing to fight for Catholics, Mormons, Lutherans, Methodist, Jews, or any other person to have that religious freedom, too. That is our Scriptural right to choose. |
|
that anyone that comes here to post gets attacked and called names by PC & Qweenmum? I made a comment, I didn't call anyone names or even mention Romney and I get called names. Good Christian attitudes you have. |
|
1) Polls run by the McCain campaign show that having Romney on the ticket would be disastrous.
“…McCain campaign insiders say that while it's true they have polled Romney on the bottom of the ticket, the data confirms that such a move would be a political disaster for the party.
‘Mitt tanks the ticket,’ says a McCain insider. ‘We lose fiscal conservatives. We lose social conservatives. We lose Catholics. We lose evangelicals. All the groups [we] were spending time and money on bringing into the camp would be lost. He just doesn't help us enough to do something like this, as much as Mitt might think we should. He doesn't even win us Massachusetts.’”
http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=13563
2) McCain is using Biden's words from the primaries against Obama. Similarly, the democrats will bring back all the attacks they leveled against each other back in the primaries. For example:
Romney on McCain: "He doesn't want to talk about the economy because, frankly, he's pointed out time and again that he doesn't understand how the economy works and right now that's the biggest issue that voters here in Florida are concerned about and they want somebody who does understand the economy, and having him say I don't understand the economy how it works, I got to get a VP that'll show me how it works, that's a real problem for him."
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0801/27/cnr.06.html
McCain on Romney: "And the fact is, his record when he was in Massachusetts had many positions, most positions are direct contradictions to the ones he proclaims now, including being ardently being pro-choice, saying he didn’t want to go back to the Reagan-Bush years, which obviously is not something that most Republicans believe in, and supporting Democrats for various offices."

i have to tell you the truth about this...I HOPE THAT IT IS NEITHER OF THEM!!!! This is just getting lame, one man is great and the other is lucifers spawn. well I am done talking about it and no matter who is selected i will support a McCain/Republican ticket.
That being said, Qweenmum8, you need to get a life. At least say you would support Barr or Kinney or any oter party than nobama. You are not the center of the world and why help your political enemies just to hurt our friends who might not agree with you. Judges Judges Judges people!!! |
|
Gee Dee I did not call you a name. Unless your one of the huckalemmings that feel he walks on water.
So, we stand by and let other who claim to be true christians, bash up one side and down the other?
Yea, I'm calling them as I see it now. Huck lied. He lied on Rush's showyesterrday. He pulled the 'my best friends are Mormon' stuff. He's never even shook hands with a mormon, without using a disinfectent afterwards.
Honestly. I can't stand the dude. Gloves are off. He makes my skin crawl. I should send Janet a sympathy card, having to be married to the creepzoid from god. (small g intended.) |
|
|
I'll even bet if we started scratching the surface, we'd find a 'monica' problem out there. He's not perfect, ya know. |
|
Is the Word of God hateful to you?Sharing the gospel hateful to you as well? Giving warning about coming judgment hateful to you also. You know what,I just don't understand Americans, sharing Jesus to them is hateful and offensive, but mormonism is not. They can attack Christianity, but if you attack their religion, they're offended. We're just warning you, there are some false religion out there. |
|
|
tomorrow when you find out that romney is NOT the vp nominee will you just go away ,i know it won't be huckabee either i'm 99% sure it's pawlenty .not my favorite but a good guy and he won't hurt mcain . |
|
PC you are a nutcase if you actually believe Romney is a conservative. It just does not line up with the facts of how he governed in MA. Please take some time to read broadly before you spew your narrow mindedness. |
|
|
You've been hitting the sauce girl if you think Huck has a Monica problem. |
|
|
tomorrow when you find out that romney is NOT the vp nominee will you just go away ,i know it won't be huckabee either i'm 99% sure it's pawlenty .not my favorite but a good guy and he won't hurt mcain . |
|
Even though I know all about Mormon teaching,Mormons using KJV Bibles. You know what if you're not born again you won't understand it,according to the Word of God. |
|
|
You are a drag queen. Go ahead and campaign for Obama. You come across as a slighted fairy queen. I detect an angry sodomite spirit in you. The reason you are so angry is because you do not like the light shining on you. You are angry and it is obvious. I have been to pro-life rallies and have observed and heard the hatred and venom come from the homosexual counter demonstrators. I believe I have just burst your bubble. |
|
The NAALDS must be getting worried that it might not be Romney, and it could possibly be Huckabee.
They are scared witless and just resorting to name calling and scurrilous charges, oh wait. That's all they've ever been doing.
PC.
I have made nowhere near the number of posts that you have made bashing Huckabee.
On one particular thread, I did attempt to engage in a religious debate, particularly with Gunlock Bill. I don't think it was overly viscious on either side.
Your characterization of my posts as being antimormon are patently rediculous.
I have repeatedly said that I will support the ticket, short of a prochoice candidate.
Your argumentation is like the NAACP and everyone I included on the list is an avowed mormon, therefore the association. Your bigoted attitude and pernicious smears of Huckabee are juvenile.
I challenge anyone to evaluate whether my posts have been bigoted or even less than fair. I have not said one word about any religious belief of the mormon religion with the exception of one thread. I have contended all along that my opposition to Romney is issue/character driven and I have not once called him a liar, a phony, a bigot or any other simple minded retort. I have said he is a political opportunist who reinvents himself to win elections and that has been demonstrated on 100's of occasions by myself and others.
You all have been repeatedly asked to give one specific instance where Huckabee trashed/ridiculed/villified/misrepresented mormonism.
You have ignored every request because it doesn't fit your template, just like the NAACP. |
|
|
Thank the Lord, tomorrow is Friday and this will all be over, except the crying, when you find out McCain has chosen Liberalman. |
|
lol Do you really expect anyone to believe you're really a conservative if you'd "1. donating to Obama campaign 2. Campaigning for Obama" just because Huckabee got the VP nod. There are plenty of Republicans that won't vote for McCain if he chooses certain people as his VP; but no true conservative could ever support anyone as far to the left as Obama/Biden. I've already decided if McCain is foolish enough to choose moral values issues liberal like Rudy, Ridge, Lieberman, Condi, Hutchison, Romney, Powell, etc. I will check out the 3rd Party candidates or write in "none of the above" if none of them are acceptable. If Romney would have been consistent to the values his faith teaches; I wouldn't have a problem with him. But, his record speaks way louder than his voice or any of his supporters. (including his loudest mouthed cheer leading "conservative" pundits) We are not buying what he's selling. Speaking of that; did that deal go through with the one of his companies that was wanting to outsource building military weapons to some foreign country? (which was one of the reasons Duncan Hunter endorsed Huckabee)At least Huckabee has enough sense to know a country needs to "feed itself, fuel itself, and fight for itself."
|
|
Your inference that Huck has a "Monica" problem is the most unchristian, unsubtantiated fairy tale I have seen on this blog.
All right minded people should condemn you roundly.
For all the Huck supporters, maybe we need to learn this axiom.
Never engage in a battle of wits with unarmed opponents. |
|
|
Liberalman. Ouch. Wouldn't surprise me but I think it is leaning towards Pawlenty. |
|
|
Liberalman. Ouch. Would not surprise me but I think it is leaning towards Pawlenty. I may be able to vote for this ticket just to keep the democrats from sinking us into their socialist utopia. |
|
|
We know that McCain won't choose Huckabee because some Americans even the so called Christians don't want a preacher in the White House. That's really sad, sometimes I doubt their Christianity.Americans will get what they deserve if McCain or Obama wins the election this November. Both candidates are liberal especially Obama.Americans hate the light and they're content being in darkness because their deeds is evil. |
|
|
Thanks for your posts. Bravo! |
|
|
Were you a rep with a drug co? I think we may know each other. Worth a chance. |
|
Both he and Thompson entered the race ONLY to split the conservative vote. They are both bootlicks.
McCain can't pick Romney. Despite Romney's flip flops, the two don't share the same worldview.
McCain's VP will be a GUARANTEED amnesty-grantin' globalist who can reach his own a** so that ...
...well, I better stop there. Point is, Romney isn't reliable enough. |
|
|
No. I'm not an "unlicensed pharmacist", either. ;) |
|
I don't think extreme radical supporters on either side do any good. There is a lot of hate here. It shouldn't be that way. I think if we knew each other we would never act this way. Most of us are on the same side of the issues. We need to come together and fight for our country. Good is being called bad and bad is being called good but it is not Romney or Huckabee who are bad in my opinion. They are just flawed mortal men who BOTH love our country and want to make it better.
I will not participate in this hate fest. You know better, you know what I am talking about.
"Remember who you are"
"A soft answer turneth away wrath but grieveth words stir up anger"
"Contention is of the devil" |
|
|
That's right. Romney has a liberal worldview. He proved it as Gov of MA. |
|
Did you really mean this?
"It doesn't matter who you vote for. God will put in whoever HE wants and I think it will be Obama. The beginning of the end..........."
You mean that God is going to stuff the ballot box so there's no reason for any of us to vote?
Man, that's some religion you've got.
|
|
|
I think there has been a bad spirit on the part of some but I do not think it is hate to point out the truth. Romney was a very liberal gov of a very liberal state. |
|
Or have you just not paid attention?
You said to me:To Maine "You say you are a conservative but yet you will vote for McCain no matter who he picks. Wake up Republicans!"
I have no idea what you are even trying to say here, but I have repeated said I am not voting for McCain no matter who he picks. I like Romney and would prefer he keeps his powder dry for 2012. I'll be disappointed if he receives (and accepts) the invitation to be the VP nominee.
|
|
|
good point. just can't support a mcain romney ticket . don't have problem with any of his other potential picks. not crazy about lieberman or ridge i'm pro life .but the vp won't be setting policy . |
|
|
Please do not fall for that garbage. God does not put baby killers in office anymore then he put Idi Amin, Hitler, Stalin, Attila the Hun, into office. He also doesn't call people home early by a drunk driver or any other evil act. Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father above. Definitely not any Pro-abortion, pro-homo marriage, marxist, socialist, Democrat like Obama. These things are not of or from God. |
|
RCDope:If you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one who yelps is the one you hit.
Me: Yes, you are correct, I've finally had about enough of you and your digs. You like to throw rocks, be my guest.
To all NAASBC, and for their leader RushConDope, I will not be voting for the Republican ticket if Huckabee is the VP nominee. But before you start accusing me of bigotry, I will also not be voting for the Republican ticket if Romney is the VP nominee - nor if it's Pawlenty, Palin, Liberman, Ridge, Grahamnesty or Abraham Lincoln.
I vote for President, not VP, and I'm note voting for John McCain. It is you who have abandoned your principles if you are voting for a democrat, even if he wears an R on his sweater.
There, RushConDope, happy? |
|
I'd suggest that any who'd advocate the taking of liberty for the sake of security are bad for the country.
I'd also suggest that any who'd advocate policies, tacitly or otherwise, that infringes on the sovereignty of the United States are bad for the country.
In fact, I suggest that these types of people are traitors worthy of expulsion, jail, or death. |
|
Let me know how far down I need to go to reach your reading level and I will try to simplify it for you. You do have Conservative in your name so I was addressing your support of Mitt. If you support and endorse Mitt Romney, then conservative is a misnomer. If you cannot do a little reading to understand that he governed as a big gov't liberal and was pro-abortion and pro-sodomy then I don't knpw how else to put it so that you will clearly understand. The facts are the facts. Mitt worked very hard to repackage himself as a conservative but he was not able to deceive enough people. Good-bye MaineLiberal |
|
I like Mitt. I share his religion. I just would prefer McCain pick someone else. It may be for selfish reasons, but I dont want to watch garbage flung about my faith for the next four years because of those with Political motives. Mitt would make a great leader and a great Veep. Its such a volitile subject amongst Christain conservatives and its such an obvious, easy target for the comically stupid dems and the press to pick on. It will be very simple to create a division in the ranks. If you dont think the press would do it, You are living on another planet.
A veep is a ribbon cutter, a shopping mall opener. The only time in 8 years when Cheney was mentioned was when he shot someone, or Haliburton was in the news. A veep typically only bides his time until he gets the chance to run for president.
We make a much bigger deal about them than they ever turn out to be. I am kind of upset that GW chose Cheney when he should have, for the good of the party selected a potential successor as a veep. Of course with his popularity at an all time perhaps this is not that bad of a thing. But that simple oversite resulted in McCain becoming our Nominee, Thanks, GW - thanks for ... a truly bizarre situation. Lets hope that McCain doesnt blow it. He could do far worse than Romney (putting my personal motives aside), But with the weakness of the Obama ticket, I really think McCain could win without his conservative base simply by asking Hillary to run with him. Why stop at Lieberman? The Far left falls off the planet, the so-called centrists move to the left, and the republican party completes its abandonment of those pesky "conservative principles". The left would eventually come back around to accepting John, and Conservatives would be out cold. - Arent I just a ray of sunshine? |
|
You paragon of reasonable conversation.
Nope, resort to an ad hominem personal attack.
You are not a conservative.
No real conservative would allow someone like obama to get elected.
Period.
Reagan would not. Huck will not. I will not.
But you would.
Maybe if you quit smoking dope, you would realize you are a liberal.
How's that for an ad hominem. |
|
J.P. Morgan said this about Teddy Roosevelt, "We bought him, but he didn't stay bought".
Romney is not a RELIABLE liberal. D-lite needs a reliable leftist for his VP.
There are certainly plenty of bootlicks for D-lite to choose from. |
|
I am not excited about McCain though I do believe he will press the fight against radical Islamic Fascists and not give up and retreat. We must be fiercely relentless or we are doomed. We do not need a non reliable conservative at a time like this when we have to keep up the fight against radical Islam and radical Marxist Democrats who want to continue to sink us into more socialism. We need reliable conservatives! |
|
You Huck supporters don't want to address your man's failings. If he is so good, why isn't he in the running for VP? Because he is poison....
Again, the strongest conservatives such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Anne Coulter, the Club for Growth, Heratige Foundation, etc etc all like Romney. These people are all good solid conservative activists. Huck is not. That is why they do not support him. Carry on all you want. Dump on Romney all you want. Do the dirty work of the small man Huck. It doesn't change the facts of this.
Do you know more about the candidates than all these solid conservative activists? Um, I think not. |
|
|
Huckabee is a reliable bootlick, but he is also a buffoon. He never made the long list. |
|

You, of all people complaining about ad hominem personal attacks? Man, that's rich.
You are the liberal if you are voting for one. You call McCain conservative?
McCain-Feingold McCain-Kennedy Amnesty Global warming Cap and trade No drilling in ANWR Obscene profits for Oil Companies
Need I go on?
I am a conservative, not a Republican. You and your types (your stupid friend David) are the ones blindly following the GOP no matter what they represent, just because...? |
|
My sis in law is a very consevative baptist and she flat out said she wouldn't vote for Mitt and believes God called Huck to be president. She was down on Mitt because he's Mormon..but her church is legalistic so I'm not surprised.
We, husband and I are non denominational and evangelical and Huck lost any respect we would have had when he allowed the moderator in one of the debates browbeat Mitt over his religion. The dope could have chimed in, instead of grinning like a fool, and shut the inquisition down with just a comment that there is no religious test nor is it fair to challenge Mitt because if it's Mitt this time, which one will it be the next election? He should have been nicer to Mitt because Christians are slammed all the time. If he and his followers are so concerned Mitt is a monster then they should do what the Lord commanded..Pray for him, and don't dispitefully use him. His behavior was a poor example of christian charity. |
|
You are a little lamb waiting for marching orders from people you do not even know. This is very dangerous Observer and you may be led in a direction that you may regret. Learn to think for yourself. I also like the conservative talking heads but they have their own agenda. You may not have noticed but they take their orders from others like Rush does or doi with Wm F. Buckley. It is important for you to be firmly planted in your conservative worldview and then you not be led along like a lamb. I saw this when I read about how the talking heads bashed Harriet Miers who would have been an excellent conservative on the court. But I learned this by reading and research and by having a solid conservative foundation. Without going into details they did this because of religion. Please wake up and stop drinking their koolaid. |
|
|
You wouldn't know a reliable conservative if one came up and punched you in the nose. |
|
|
Americans don't want a preacher in the White House. They already kick God out of public schools and in the courthouse, mentioning Jesus is already illegal and ACLU will sue someone if he/she mentions His name.Everybody knows that Huckabee is a good speaker and has charisma, but his being a Christian is in the way. It's sad, isn't it? Shame on Americans.ICHABOD.Don't you know that some Jews in Israel want Huckabee to be their leader. They really welcome him. You're just jealous of him and his supporters.Admit it. |
|
Would you listen to yourself?
That sounds an awful lot like Obama, no it sounds exactly like obama.
Look, I agree with you on those issues, but they are secondary issues.
First tier issues
Control Spending. Cut taxes. Protect life. Protect America. (Violent Islam is more dangerous than Mexico)
McCain will do those things and we can work to get conservative congressmen elected that will hold his feet to the fire on these secondary issues.
Obama is the most liberal candidate in history. We need to defeat him. period. protect the courts. It is rediculously shrt-sighted to allow him to win when you could have done something.
|
|
"when he allowed the moderator in one of the debates browbeat Mitt over his religion."
citation please. which debate? which moderator? |
|
Here's a challenge: You tell me what you think a conservative is and I'll then tell you how I define conservative. OK? By the way a conservative wouldn't punch me because we would be too busy enjoying intelligent conversation. |
|
Stupid? I gotcha! Come on you can do better then that. I'm waiting for your def of conservative. |
|
So you think the tide can be reversed? Stopped? Slowed?
By McCain?
My thinking is that unless we get a SCOTUS with testicular fortitude, the only path to liberty is washed with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
D-lite's past comments and actions with regard to constructionist judges, as well as his reach-around relationship with "Single Bullet" Arlen Spector, makes me seriously doubt his recent proclaimations.
Another thing, 9-11 was the fault of the INS. If there is another attack within the borders of the US, it will be the fault of ICE.
The War on Terror as it is currently being waged is a joke. Muslim is as Muslim does. Read the Koran yourself. The "War on Terror" is nothing more than an immigration issue. Malkin and Savage are absolutely right about placing outright bans on Muslim immigration and removing those that are here but are not citizens.
The main reason we have troops in the ME is because the lips of the Rockefeller Republicans are permanently attached to the a**hole of Isreal.
...but I ramble. |
|
I don't think your sister-in-law's church is legalistic.I'm a conservative, fundamental baptist myself, we believe in "SEPARATION",not isolation. We believe in modest apparel,Deut. 22:5.That's why,we're branded legalist because of it. Some Christians blew their opportunities during Primary Election. They voted for wrong candidates. And now, we're going to get what we deserve if Obama or McCain is elected.Illegal immigrants will invade America.I will invite all my relatives to come to America and tell them that it okey to stay or live in America without proper papers. No job,no problem,American tax money will support them anyway. |
|
So, you won't vote for McCain no matter who his veep is, we get it. but you have not said that you will vote for Obama. No. 1. Are you going to vote for him? And no. 2. IF you are, why won't you come out and say it? |
|
"Protect America. (Violent Islam is more dangerous than Mexico)"
You are kidding, right? Here's some nightime reading bootlick:
http://www.immigrationshumancost.org/
Mexicans have killed THOUSANDS more Americans than Muslims...THOUSANDS!...even in the seven years since 9-11.
egads. |

GOVERNOR MIKE HUCKABEE IS A FIGHTER AND ONE OF THE GREATEST COMMUNICATORS OF OUR TIME! ONLY HIS VOICE AS JOHN McCAIN’s VICE-PRESIDENT WILL NULLIFY OBAMA’s. I HAVE SEEN THE FUTURE!
Governor Mike Huckabee is the BEST candidate among the Vice-President picks in the dangerous times that we live in. What also makes Mike Huckabee the most logical candidate is that he not only attracts Republicans but also Democrats without compromising his core principles. Both political party support is needed to win this election in 2008 and he has it. He is the Republican's secret weapon in the 2008 election. Governor Mike Huckabee's proven leadership is what can bring America together as a team. He is the perfect compliment to McCain.
The Liberal media fears him so much that they never seem to mention him as a possible vice-presidential pick. All the manufactured public peer pressure mustered overtly and covertly against Governor Mike Huckabee cannot withstand the winning strength and asset that he brings to the McCain ticket. Just allow Governor Mike Huckabee to speak and he draws both Democrats and Republican favor without a major cost to the campaign. Former Governor Mike Huckabee joins John McCain as the only candidates who ran for president that drew and connected with the younger voters of America.

Thank you for at least addressing me without insulting me. See, that wasn't so hard was it?
The obscene profits for oil companies are McCain's words. That's my point. He's not a conservative.
I'll answer Davey's question here too, but what you consider 2nd tier issues I do not.
Amnesty - securing our border is as top tier as you can get. How can you say Protect America is top tier but securing our borders is not?
Control Spending - what gives you confidence McCain will control spending? Yes, he's been good on earmarks but that is so minor compared to the entitlement programs that require hard, tough changes.
Cut Taxes - McCain voted against the Bush Tax cuts saying they favored the wealthy. You're confident he's going to cut taxes?
Protect Life - He's solid, but what is going to change over the next four years?
I don't trust McCain. He hasn't earned my trust and he's too liberal in too many areas.
Please save the "yeah, but he's not as bad as Obama" argument. I don't vote for liberals, whether they're Democrat or Republican. |
|
Sorry, maybe I didn't answer your question in my response to RushCon.
It's late so let me sum up my definition of a conservative in 4 words.
Small government Personal Responsibility |
|
Me vote for the Obamessiah?
Not a chance in the world. I will be voting for "None of the above". Probably Bob Barr. |
|
According to Heritage, each family of an illegal costs net taxpayers $21K per year. D-lite can fight earmarks till he's blue in the face, it doesn't compare to the theft he advocates on behalf of illegals.
I wonder what D-lite's position on unfunded mandates is, like the massive unfunded mandate of mass Third World migration to the United States?
Probably the same as comrad Obama's. |
|
|
I apologize for the stupid comment. Long day. I don't know you well enough to make that judgement. |
|
|
Muslims are the most violent people in the world who don't even value their lives. To kill and be killed is glory to them.Look at the countries they invaded or controlled, they're in a mess. |
|
I have had a long, tough day, but thanks for the laugh.
Good one. |
|
Been reading much? I didn't say that Muslims weren't evil. I said that Mexicans have killed more Americans. Many times more. They continue to do so right now. Right now an American, within the borders of the US(!), is being killed, maimed, or raped by a Mexican. Right Now!
In the mind of the reasonable, Mexicans are a much greater threat to the security of American citizens than Muslims have ever been. Ever. And aside from a WMD (probably more than one), Muslims will never catch up to the number of crimes perpetrated on US citizens by Mexicans. Never. |
|
Apology accepted. I mostly agree with you as to your definition of a conservative. I personally hold to three guiding principles: 1. The principle of limited gov't. 2. The principle of strong national defense. 3. The principle of traditional family values. I believe in a principle of economics referred to as The Austrian School of Economics. And I believe that modern conservativism stems from 19th century classical liberalism.
I think you and I probably agree with each other on these points but I do not think Mitt believes in or upholds these principles or this philosophy.
And I do believe that Huck's core principles do line up with most of these ideas. As a matter of fact, the Fair Tax, by dismantling the most abusive part of big gov, the IRS, is a move in the right direction.
Also, though we agree that McCain is (our) worst candidate and I told myself that I will never vote for him, we have to look at this as a sports analogy: hold the line or even rope a dope. We can do this until the conservative troops regroup to field new, energetic, principled conservatives that start to dismantle the New Deal and restore FREEDOM. |
|
You have consistently bashed Huckabee and promoted Romney - nearly every article you write consist of some bash attach on Huckabee or some cornation of Romney. Ed Rollins, is a professional political strategist, and a darn good one - after all, he led Ronald Reagan to victory. He clearly sees Romney's negatives, and if you had your eyeballs open you would too. As to Queen? and PC, you're on all of Matt Lewis's posts ROUND THE CLOCK - common sense tells me that either Lewis or Romney have you both on their payrolls, because no one has the time to constantly bash Huckabee and defend Mittens as much as you do if they actually hold down a regular job. Hats off to you - you all take the cake as the most blind, mean-spirited posters I have ever seen on any blog. If you believe for a moment that your pathetic efforts have united the Republican party, you are sadly mistaken. Congratulations for the insults you have hurled on a daily basis and the lies, divisions and bigotry you have consistently convulsed! I feel sorry for the lot of you!!! |
|
|
Huckabee supporters are great! |
|
You and I agree on much, but not all. I have met Mitt Romney and have had heard him explain his positions to me in person. I trust him and understand him. I understand those who have concerns.
I also do not share your admiration for Mike Huckabee and think he has a better future in television than politics, but I know his followers are hard-core. Just not enough of them to make much of a difference. I lost much respect for him in the primaries which has continued through now. I see him as devisive and vindictive. Not my kind of guy. |
|
...I wouldn't care a lick whether Romney were selected as VP or not, if it weren't for Huckabee's post-primary campaign against him. At this point, I almost want him to be VP just to spite the whisper campaign he started and won't end.
Look, the primary is over. It is time for a cease fire. I am prepared to get behind whomever the VP is as long as he is not a Democrat. Heck, I would even get behind a Huckabee VP nod if I believed it would deliver sufficient warm fuzzies to the evangelical community. This is not a religious war to me. For me, the VP pick is a tactical and pragmatic choice. Let's deliver. Remember, an Obama presidency is unacceptable, period. |
|
You won't vote for McCain if he chooses a Democrat for a running mate?
McCain's a democrat himself, just without the capital "D". Why would it make a differnece if he choses a Democrat as VP? |
|
|
The division in the party has been caused, in my opinion by the very poor management of the McCain campaign. Anybody in their right mind would never totally advocate, leak, praise, vet and float the number 3 person from the primarires all the while ignoring, never praising, not even acknowledging the fantastic accomplishments of the number 2 person in the primaries without KNOWING it will cause conflict and hard feelings. Now, HAD McCain campaign given equal attention to BOTH Huckabee and Romney it may have been possible to have unity upon a Romney pick (even though he is not trusted, not liked, believed to be a power hungry do anything to win kind of guy). However, the way the McCain campaign completely mismanaged their vetting process, then adding the Hillary ads (saying Obama is a bad boy for not picking Hillary who got millions of votes and came in 2nd) all the while treating Mike the EXACT same way...such poor taste on McCain's part!!! All legitimate polls show Romney hurts McCain's ticket...He is going to hurt it even more now.... |
|
|
Mike Huckabee is honest, straight forward, much the way John McCain used to be once upon a time..He is tired of the lies and rumors in the media and I think Faux News saying he had been invited to Dayton along with the vp finalists was just the last straw for him. His supporters have been speculating on hucksarmy and huckpac all day (for several days) he was the pick and with this new rumor the people were all but swearing him in. Huck felt he should tell us the TRUTH. If you can't take the truth you can find plenty of candidates who will lie to you in order to get your vote. Mitt Romney is one of them. He has done it over and over. Huckabee tells it like he sees it and I find it odd that people on here are actually saying Huckabee would be more appealing to you had he lied. He is not going to say anything different about Romney now than he did during the primaries because he would be dishonest to do so knowing that the vast majority of the base dislikes, mistrusts Romney and thinks he has no strong convictions about anything (and these are the same reasons Huckabee does not believe he would be the best vp choice). He said he will vote for McCain no matter who he picks, even a pro choice candidate, but he hopes it will be a strong pro life candidate. That is his HONEST opinion. Huckabee is a very interesting guy and since McCain has never given him any indication that he was being considered for vp, what's wrong with him pursuing a career in the political/media field??? What did you expect him to do?? Of course he is in the media because he is AN INTERESTING guy the best speaker I have ever heard and people are interested in his opinion. As for Ed Rollins, he is hired to give an honest opinion. Some dont like Pawlenty, some dont like Ridge, Lieberman and MANY dont like Romney. Its a fact...CHeck the polls.... |
|
"You won't vote for McCain if he chooses a Democrat for a running mate? "
I said I wouldn't get behind him. I didn't say I wouldn't vote for him. Honestly, I don't think anyone to the left of McCain helps McCain one bit, and I would be sorely disappointed if he chose Lieberman, for instance. |

I have personally corresponded with political bloggers who wrote to me, and I quote, "It's not Mitt Romneys concept of the here and now the bothers me, it's his concept of the hereafter". Even after continued correspondence and my pointing out that his opinion seemed a bit limited, he persisted.
So Evangelicals, if Mitt Romney gets the nod, can that attitude and remember that the Mormons thought Jesus had the power to make his appearance in the Americas and to native Americans... Not bad really... and remember if Obama gets elected... You might say that the good book in America will be something like that little red bood Chairman Mao wrote..
So evangelicals if Mitts the man, get behind him. |

it's romneys record as a fake conservitive , romney the ultimate rino. |
|
|
Greta Van Susteren said she had an email from Huckabee saying he wouldn't be there tomorrow. Did anyone else hear anymore on this subject? |
|
|
Thanks for letting me know you wil not vote for Obama. I was worried there for a while. |
|
I just heard him on Limbaugh shoot a strait lie about what happened in West Virginia. Whatever Huckabee does is fine with me, but spare me the crap that is is an honest guy. He can't tell the truth about things that don't matter.
Again, I have no problem with Huckabee doing what is best for him, but I am beyond tired of morons crucifying Romney while exalting Huckbee. Total bullcrap. |

just need a little faith eric, you seem to accept lies from rino romney with no problems yet can't accept the truth from huck .hope your wrists are feeling better.lol |

Huckaphony was spotted at the Mexican Consulate that he allowed to open within the Arkansas Government Offices while he was Governor. Viva Mexico!!!
FYI:Huckaphony is a Liar. |

I doubt that those who are bashing Huckabee are in any way LDS members, but, likely persons who are setting up a smear.
Huckabee made his mistakes as we all do, and yes even ministers have used the pulpit to smear Mitt, but that does not hurt Mitt, it makes him a more patient and faithful person.
"Contend Not But pursue a steady course" advises the late, Gordon B. Hinckley
Articles of Faith 1:11 11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
Matthew 5:44 - 46 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Matthew 7:20 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. |

Like huck and his followers would even take the time to read the articles of faith.
Glad he won't in in Dayton tomrrow. |

Alas. Mr. Huckabee sent out an e-mail and press release that he will not be in Dayton tomorrow. He'll be sorely missed. ") |

Romney Expected To Appear In Dayton Tomorrow 29 Aug 2008 01:28 am
So -- two senior McCain campaign officials confirm that John McCain will appear with his vice presidential pick in Dayton, Ohio tomorrow at noon ET.
And Gov. Mitt Romney expects to be in Dayton, Ohio tomorrow, having been asked there by the McCain campaign, a reliable source close to Romney says. (Another source says Romney will be in Boston.)
Gov. Tim Pawlenty is currently at the governors' mansion in Minneapolis. There is no guidance about his schedule.
We don't know if all the VP hopefuls have been summoned to Dayton; we don't know if some have. (MIke Huckabee won;'t be going.)
It would be weird, wouldn't it, to force the losers in this contest to appear onstage with the winners mere hours after they got the news.....
I'm NOT saying that Romney will be the pick. We may be missing an entirely different side of the story.

Oh no, I don't want another Pelosi in the White House, yes, she's conservative.Women are sensitive and soft-hearted.I hope she's as tough as former Prime Minister of England. If something happen to McCain, she might say,she couldn't handle it,and we'll end up with Pelosi. |

Huck didn't make it, but neither did your boy, Romney. Will you at least stop trashing Huckabee with name-calling and lies now? I guess you'll just have to vote for the baby killer, Obama, or maybe stay at home with you kiddies and not vote at all. |

is there life after mitty? |

Will Huckabee (Huckaphony (TM) Mark Levin, aka the great one) stop attacking Romney?
|

BRAVO!!! Great choice. Though my wife and I are huge Huck fans, I had a strong feeling that Sarah would be selected and she is a great selection. All conservatives, independents, freedom loving citizens must now rally behind this team in order to block the Marxist, Socialist, Pro-Abortion, Pro-Sodomite, Pro-Criminal, Tax and Spend Demoncrat Party |

there have always been people who are feel very threatened by successful members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since 1830. I've just accepted it even though most who distrust LDS people know little to none about the church except the usual propoganda against it. It's an interesting note to say you will never find anti-any religion pamphlets at LDS meetinghouses. You can claim "flip-flop" or anyother reason to dislike Romney, it honestly is rooted in dislike for his (and mine) religion. |

Sorry but you are wrong. If Mitt was a conservative and true to conservative principles I would vote for him. Unfortunately he proved his liberalism as MA Governor. |
