On Fox News Sunday, McCain Hits Obama on 'Redistribution of Wealth'
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 12:33 PM
John McCain is on message and hitting the right notes these days.  This is from his appearance this morning on Fox News Sunday:

John McCain: "I started turning it around the other night when we challenged Senator Obama's words. He is the most eloquent person I've ever known in politics. But he said he would on offshore drilling, he would, quote, 'consider it,' when he made several other statements that were clearly equivocation. But you've got to nail it down and pin it down. I'm very pleased with what happened at the debate, because it helped define the issues with the American people. And Joe the Plumber is the average citizen, and Joe the Plumber is now speaking for millions of small business people all over America, and they're becoming aware that 'we need to spread the wealth around' is not what small business people want. And before we go into this business of, well, they wouldn't be taxed, etc., 50% of small business income would be taxed under Senator Obama's plan. That's 16 million small business jobs in America, and that's what Joe the Plumber's figure d out. Finally, could I just say, where are we in America where a candidate for president comes to a person's driveway, he asks him a question, doesn't like the answer, and all of a sudden he's savaged by the candidate's people? Savaged by them. Here's a guy who's a private citizen. What's that all about?"

...

John McCain: "I think his plans are redistribution of the wealth. He said himself, we need to spread the wealth around. Now..."

Fox News' Chris Wallace: "Is that socialism?"

John McCain: "That's one of the tenets of socialism, but it's more the liberal left, which he's always been in. He's always been in the left lane of American politics. That's why he voted 94 times against any tax cuts or for tax increases. That's why he voted for the Democratic budget resolution that would raise taxes on some individuals who make $42,000 a year. That's why he has the most liberal voting record in the United States Senate."

Wallace: "But, Senator, when we talk..."

John McCain: "So is one of the tenets of socialism redistribution of wealth? Not just socialism, a lot of other liberal and left wing philosophies. Redistribution of the wealth, I don't believe in it. I believe in wealth-creation by Joe the Plumber."

With all the money Obama has
raised, why isn't he re-distributing that wealth?

Obama could have taken those contributions and used the tax rolls to find each person who has paid into SS for a minimum of 20 quarters and spread that money. But he didn't. So, with Obama in office, I will quit my job, collect food stamps, let the govt administer my health care because what is the point of working if I have to GIVE my money to people who don't even work NOW?

Spreading the wealth
This is a momentum changing issue. In a rare moment of candor, Obama revealed his true political philosophy. This will be the focus of the next two weeks.
Lauragin writes: Sunday, October, 19, 2008 3:10 PM
Obama should have had to explain
exactly what he meant by that ignorant statement the first time it came past his lips. When people realize that his plan is full of holes they will understand why it is important to NOT cast their vote for him.

He is not Robin Hood; he will not have the power to redistribute anyone's wealth, and shouldn't be given that power by anyone.

If truth be known, a lot of wealthy people are probably turning up their noses at it but don'T have the balls to admit their boy ain't "the one."

I hope McCain goes for the triple threat
McCain has the momentum with this issue and needs to keep it up but also needs to start pounding away the Obama/Pelosi/Reid threat. With their approval ratings being about 10%, he should take advantage of the impact of keeping them in charge with the most liberal senator as the third leg of that stool. The three of them together in charge is a recipe for disaster.
JD2008 writes: Sunday, October, 19, 2008 5:35 PM
your right Sherry....
McCain needs to drive home the point that the unholy 3, Pelosi, Obama, and Reid, are not only unpopular but radical, and todays independents, will be tomorrows radical conservative if they get in office. The media, academia, and the government will attack these new radicals as hideously as they treat the current conservatives. Indy's are missing the boat if they don't vote McCain/Palin who are use to governing from the middle. Gov Palin may be strongly pro life, but she's pragmatic about that in today's society and realizes leading example is the most important thing, while pragmatic is not a term I would use to describe Obama. I would instead say he's deceptive.
Sherry writes: Sunday, October, 19, 2008 5:41 PM
Will McCain go after Wright
It is my understanding that the reason he didn't go after Wright this last month was because he wanted Powell's endorsement. Will the gloves come off now? I hope so. Wright was the first skeleton in the closet and it has proven shelf life with the public. I hope he hits it hard.

500 million Obama has raised
Pretty darn good for our so called "lousy economy."

What's surprising me is that I don't see Oprah, Soros, Buffet, and the rest of Obama's billionaire friends either publishing their bank account number and password so we can all "take out what you need, share the wealth until I am poor," or, setting up a mass deposit box where they all put in and we all can take out whenever we want. All of course no questions asked.

Spread the wealth is always the theme of those who are wealthy and have everything tied up neatly to minimize their tax liability while the rest of us who are wanting to reach the goals and don't have all the expertise are the ones doing all the wealth sharing to those with no ambition, no desire.

Soros pulled that, calling for a world income tax after he divested himself of everything in his name.

It's good to see McCain saying something, just let's help it not be too late :)
