Re: Bush 'Unlikely' to Come to RNC Convention
Posted by: Jonathan Garthwaite at 10:49 AM
There might not be a convention for President Bush to attend if he wanted to...

All the buzz here in Mpls/St. Paul is how to hold a convention without any celebration. Seems like a contradiction in terms.

Word is that consideration is actually being given to cutting the schedule down enough to get all the convention business completed before Gustav makes landfall or as soon after as possible.  Landfall seems on track for Monday afternoon.

Stay tuned...

This time...
...let's highlight the lefty commie Demonrats' sadistic desire to see the devastation unfold, the lives destroyed, and the suffering of their fellow citizens in NO. It's already all over the place! The more their gleeful talking heads harp on and on about it, the more voters will be turned off by it. Remember, the citizens of NO cast out the Demonrats and elected Bobby Jindal their governor!

The greatest hopes of ALL Americans should be that Gustav calms down and that its effects will be minimal in terms of human suffering.

Talk of shutting down convention, or
They may run relief efforts, raising money for hurricane victims, coordinating response efforts, etc.

They'll knock out the "official work" of the campaign by nominating McCain early Monday, before the hurricane hits Monday afternoon.

The option is always open to have the rest of the campaign rally at a later date, probably within a few weeks.

Democrats, naturally, will accuse the GOP of politicizing a natural disaster. Whatever.

How ironic: GOP will cancel celebrations, due to a natural disaster. Democrats meanwhile will celebrate the GOP cancelling their convention. Hypocrites.

The storm needs first attention
Americans are at risk. There will be damage (hopefully it will be mild, but it could be massive). That needs to be assessed first.

President Bush is going to direct efforts. That is the right thing to do.

Makes the Dems look worse...
If the Republicans stick to business and avoid all of the fanfare, this to me, would make the Dems look very rediculous. Thier Convention was barely topped by the Chinese Olympics.

Let's get back to basics. Stop spending excessive amounts of money on a Convention while many Americans are struggling. Republicans need to show by example that they believe spending is out of control.
