Here is the blog entry from the Code Pink blog describing the trip to Iran currently being enjoyed by Code Pink's co-founders, Medea Benjamin and Obama fundraiser Jodie Evans. Apparently, they are there to conduct "citizen diplomacy" -- blissfully unaware that if they weren't serving as useful idiots for the Iranian regime, they'd probably be stoned to death for their overall personae and behavior.
Reflecting on the days’ events, I was struck by how much more open Iran is than I had thought. Yes, we have to wear headscarves and long coats, but that seems so unimportant --although I must say that I feel very claustrophobic covering my head all day. (During lunch at the restaurant, Rostam told me I could take the scarf off, but about 20 minutes later some men came to complain.)
If it's really "unimportant" that women are required by government decree to be covered, let's see how Benjamin and Medea react if the US enacts such a mandate, shall we? And you've got to love this:
I have been comparing the atmosphere here to that of Iraq under Saddam Hussein and here it is very different. People in Iraq were afraid to speak out against Saddam, people in Iran aren’t.
And yet, CodePink outspokenly opposed the Iraq War, which removed the onerous restrictions she now invokes. Go figure. Finally:
While most wouldn’t want to be filmed venting against their government, they talk to us in an amazingly open fashion, barely looking over their shoulders to see if anyone is listening.
Isn't that just wonderful? What a paradise. It's revealing that they have so much scorn for America and so much praise for Iraq.
Unbelievable. Words can't begin to express the contempt any American should feel for these morally obtuse useful idiots.

*perpetual eye roll* They spoke of how open it was there, but once they took their head dresses off, the men complained so they had to put them back on.
How open and free is that???
Dumb Broad of the Week Award goes to: All of the ladies of Code Pink
Crypt Keeper Look-a-Like Award goes to: Medea Benjamin |

They ARE dumb broads!
Good question about the Logan Act. Not sure....
Worth looking into though. Unfortunately, our govt. is so wishy-washy no one would do anything even IF they could!!!
I'm just incredulous that they're talking about damn scarves when women are dying!!!!
|
|
There are so many cases of that occuring it just rips a hole thru my heart.
I don't know if you remember this story from over the summer http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,386161,00.html
Or about the British teacher they wanted to execute for naming a teddy bear Muhammed.
Or the gays that are executed in Iran http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/art icle2859606.ece
There was another story within the past year about I believe a 15 year old girl in Iran that was raped and sent to jail.
This is ridiculous. Do you think the Logan Act applies to these dumb broads?

about wearing a scarf????
13-year-old stoned to death, after being raped
http://malaysianpolitics.wordpress.com/2008/11/09/13-year-o ld-stoned-to-death-after-being-raped/
"MOGADISHU, Nov 2 - A 13-year-old girl who said she had been raped was stoned to death in Somalia after being accused of adultery by Islamic militants, a human rights group said.
"Dozens of men stoned Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow to death Oct 27 in a stadium packed with 1,000 spectators in the southern port city of Kismayo, Amnesty International and Somali media reported, citing witnesses. The Islamic militia in charge of Kismayo had accused her of adultery after she reported that three men had raped her, the rights group said.
"This, is blatant disregard of human rights. A right for that girl to live. Her right to her own body. Her right to lodge reports on abuse committed towards her body and soul. Her right to ask for help and protection when she needs it the most. Her right, to dignity.
"And they have simply taken all this away, by criminalising the victim, while the real criminals run scot-free. Free to do what they want. Free to commit more crimes of the same. And the next victim will be compelled to suffer in silence for fear that she too, might be stoned to death should she dare to breathe a word of her sufferings.
"She was only 13."
So, it was Somalia, not Iran, but it was still a Muslim law...
Wasn't it in Texas where two young girls were murdered??? Honor Killings? Okay Tim from Texas, have at it! |

...standing righteously for the rights of tyrannical regimes to treat women like subhuman creatures. How did one rationalize it, they can go out in public now if they wear a veil and cover up - that is improvement. And also, "every place isn't like here" - brilliant!
These are the people who will take great pleasure in enforcing coercive censorship here under the euphemism of the "fairness doctrine". And that is only the beginning... |

Good old Carol. This was the woman screaming about pandemonium in Philadelphia on election day, using “end of the world” rhetoric to inflame the 275 faithful Townhall posters. What a drag to go visit someplace and be expected to write about each and every single nuance of the people, the government, and the major religion in the area. Once again the difference between objective and subjective is completely ignored. The subjective aspects of a visit to Iran could fill volumes. The objective part could be…I don’t know, something like a blog! Carol’s blog is not concerned by having normal people read her blog. She is playing to the screaming freaks. Hundreds of them! The travel blog is just that. A Nobody’s on-line scrapbook.
Sabrina. It is unusual that a republican of your age would have a topless dancer’s name. Go figure. Of course it is different over there. You are right about the veil. 25 years ago the women couldn’t be out in public. Now they can if they wear a veil. Sounds like an improvement. Yes, you are naive to the ways of the world. Every place isn’t like here. If it bothers them that much they can revolt.
Sue. Might I suggest a cup of Jim Jones kool-aid to relieve your anxiety. Drink 1 and repeat as needed. Royinoslo raises valid points. Citizens are not the government there. If a country is judged by it’s screaming fanatics, the US is in trouble. Open your eyes. You obviously have good hearing since those rape-room screams you hear are coming from Africa. And good use of out of context statements by you and Carol. She did it and then you refined it. Plus I didn’t see anything she said about Iran being a paradise. Carol said it was a paradise. Learn to read.
If you would like my input on what a hateful bit*h Anne is, I will be glad to supply it.
God I love a catfight.

Really, Lindbergh visited Nazi Germany, hosted so amiably by Hermann Goering. And Charles Lindbergh was somebody.
These ladies follow in Lindbergh's disgraceful footsteps and they are NOBODIES. Nonentities repeating history.
We should prepare for an increase in this phenomenon. |
|
I'll dig that hole for you to stick your head in, Royinoslo... Maybe more of your female friends would take offense to wearing that "unimportant" veil while out in public ALL THE TIME! If you for one minute believe that Code Pink even have a snapshot of life in Iran, I'll tell you now: You are painfully mistaken!
We vacationed in Iran when the Shah was in power. It's a different world over there now - that "unimportant" veil says more about their forced belief system than you seem to realize. Don't you think they've raised more than one generation who isn't now completely used to the restrictive ways of the Ayatollah? You shouldn't be sooooo naive to the ways of the world! |
|
|
Useless bunch of idiots!!! |
|
"And yet, CodePink outspokenly opposed the Iraq War, which removed the onerous restrictions she now invokes. Go figure."
That's true - just last week, tens of thousands cheered the burning in effigy of President Bush... |

What are they doing? They are giving intelligent women a bad name. Airheads!!! I am not impressed with their viewpoint on Iran. Isn't it Iran that sent trained insurgents and all those explosive devices, IED's RPG's etc., that have killed so many of our own service men and women?Isn't it the leader of Iran who says the holocaust never happened? Who is building a nuclear capacity to destroy the enemy Israel? What maroons. We are still at war and people like these women are dangerous. |
|
You better head to the closest E.R.. You are suffering from a severe case of Kool-Aid Poisoning.
You have all of the classic signs:
1) Blindness- You are completely blind to evidence right in front of your eyes.
2) Deafness- You were totally deaf to the cries of millions of women in Iraq's rape rooms.
3) Hallucinations- You THINK women being FORCED to wear headscaves as "Unimportant".
May I suggest, You and Code Pink joint the ranks of the Iranian people, inasmuch as Iran is such a paradise. I am sure America will be able to limp along without you! |
|
"More open" than the society described by those who want to demonize everything about Iran, a country which has never attacked another, and where there indeed is great admiration for western ideals and poplulare use of the global internet.
The excesses of the mullas are certainly horrible, but decrying the people-to-people contacts between the two societies is not constructive. |
|
Yes, these Code Pink women are, indeed, IDIOTS!
And they're being USED by Iran!
Ergo, "Useful Idiots."
Hope that explains it for you.
|
|
"... you feel threatened by people who describe a more open society..."
"More open society?" You COULDN'T POSSIBLY mean Iraq or Iran, could you?
You COULDN'T POSSIBLY mean where they stone women and young girls FOR BEING raped?
I didn't think so!

I have always feared that Medea has more than a few screws loose...I always have to wonder with people like her, Bill Ayers, Alec Baldwin, Danny Glover, Sean Penn...since they HATE it here in the US so much, why don't they just LEAVE and go live in Iran, or Cuba, or Venezuela, or Sudan, or better yet...Somalia?? Hey...it has a nice coastline!! They could build a beach house!! Of course, they'd have to fortify it with walls 40 feet high and 20 feet deep but what's the matter with that?? OH...what's that?? No beach "view" they say, like they have in Malibu?? Awww...shame shame... |
|
You use the term "useful idiots" frequently, nothing to back it up, just mindless namecalling from the loyal opposition.
The headscarves are "unimportant" to these women because it's a minor inconvenience during a short stay because their perceived mission is more important. Nowhere do they say it's unimportant to the millions of Iranian women who are forced into this oppressive dress code.
Your next point implies that because many people in Iraq were afraid to speak out against Saddam, that justified the Iraq war. Ask the million Iraqis dead, wounded or forced out of their homes because of our tax dollars--borrowed money, that is. Flimsy rationale from you for a horrible boondoggle.
Iran is no paradise, as you say, but it strikes me that you feel threatened by people who describe a more open society and put faces and humanity and on the cardboard cutouts you seem willing to destroy by going to war. Thank goodness America rejected the warmonger. |

For a very long time, there have been people who are the pawns of others. Code Pink has merely institutionalized the practice and served as its most visible emblem, after the leadership of the Democratic party. |
|
|
Losing their passports would give reality a chance to show it's ugly head... |
|
Code Pink is the enemy, not the ally, of women everywhere.
Such a shame, I love wearing pink. |
|
|
let's keep those two there for a while and see how long they last and no tax pay either .. |
|
are doing a pre-emptive "Hanoi Jane" photo op......... you gotta love how naive these women are...... next thing you hear is how "the Iranians don't pose a threat to anyone"........ don't believe the Israelis would agree...... |
