Young Elvis vs. Fat Elvis?

If things go well, Mike Huckabee may be the first president to ever diet his way to the White House.  ... Seriously.

As sad as it is to admit, does anyone believe that the fat Mike Huckabee would be leading in Iowa right now?  I don't.  Who was the last truly overweight president we had, William Howard Taft?  (Okay, Bill Clinton was borderline).

As sick as I am of hearing Huckabee talk about "eating right and exercising," he may end up being an example of the benefits of getting into shape.

it's all about personal responsibility

Matt,

Bro, why on earth would you be sick and tired of hearing Huckabee extol the virtues of eating right and exercising ?

A nutritious diet and exercise is all about embracing personal responsibility regarding one's health---and that's a conservative principle.

Diet and exercise enable a person to function at one's best.
And that affects one's performance at one's job, relationships, their mood, et al.

Besides, it can also have indirect fiscal ramifications.
After all, people who gorge themselves on junk food ultimately incur health care costs which get passed on to other consumers of health insurance.

If nothing else, chicks dig fit guys.

FDR
I think FDR was pretty fat. Not Mike Huckabee fat, but certainly bigger than Clinton.

One Hot
You said it right. Being healthy and taking all things in moderation is personal responsibility. Studies of all sorts show that even small things have benefits. Washing hands can save Billions of $$$ every year. One of my concerns is that Huckabee wants to make this a nation wide thing. That is not a government issue. But then we are looking for alternative energy ideas. Lets see a treadmill or exercycle attached to a generator, recharging batteries while watching TV in the evening. Might be worth looking into... Is it marketable?

FDR died of a stroke!

Nothing much worse than an ex-----------
Why is it that ex-smokers and ex-obese want to regulate everyone else's lives? How long has he maintained his new life style? Check back with me in 10 years and I'll let you know how dedicated he really is?

Good for Huck
Yeah Some self control issues are more obvious than others ...Bill Clintoon had a serious issue with self control and he became President..at least Governor Huck realized his. Obesity is epidemic...we need someone to inspire people in this area of SELF Government. How can this be be a bad thing..whatever.

Okayy we are losing so let's pull out the fat pictures of Huck..ha you people are pathetic..when you can't beat someone face to face in the debate ..stab them in the back...Micheal Medved had an honest piece on Huck today. You people should read rather than rifling through his past to try and make him look bad. The people will see through that.
