Turf War? Jackson vs. Obama ...

This isn't exactly an original idea, but I think it's worth repeating ... It's clear to me that old-school "civil rights leaders" like Jackson and Sharpton feel threatened and jealous of Obama.
But rather than be a problem for Obama, this is actually an opportunity. Jackson and Sharpton have long ago lost any claim to legitimacy that they might have once had. In fact, picking a fight with Jackson would probably benefit Obama.
I've personally heard Republicans tell me that the good thing about having Obama win is that it would officially end the reign of Jackson and Sharpton ...

Jackson's Obama comments were disingenous and staged?
Oh I am sure an egomaniac like Jackson would be resentful of a younger, smarter, and far more talented candidate like Obama. I am sure that resentment is genuine. But this just felt like a public relations move to make Obama more palatable. I felt the same thing when Rev. Wright went "after" Obama at the National Press Club, giving Barack Obama the perfect oportunity to distance himself from his spiritual mentor of twenty years.

the older generation of Black Americans who idolize Jesse may stop and think on this a bit. It may place a seed of doubt in their minds and they may begin to examine Obama's remarks and actions a little more closely. It's still not all about the younger generation. We still have the baby boom generation out there whom could cost him the election, so Obama needs to tread lightly. So maybe there WAS something to what Ralph Nader said a few weeks ago, huh? |

For once I agree with you. "Sister Souljah" moment. |

No harm in a little cynicism and skepticism, friend.
It's not beyond the realm of possibility that Jackson is trying to help Obama out.
I tend to side with the CW on this one, that Jackson is peeved that the upstart is co-opting his shtick and will put him out of business if he wins. |

Jesse Jackson's "live-mic" comment was priceless, this guy wallows in the gutter at all times. He needs the broken families to keep his scam....I mean, business going, he can't stand it when someone agrees that the Black family has been devastated over the years & that serious work must be done to educate & raise the morale in the black community. He said that Barrack was "talking down to black people", his perception (Jackson's) is skewed as usual, he does'nt want to see healing, he needs the black man "down" so he can use it against the white man...this guy has done more to hurt Race relations along with Al Sharpton than anyone in our history. They, Jesse & Al know that the "gig" is up, their tired rhetoric is no longer useful, the Black community has'nt prospered because of them, they have fostered hate, anxiety, division, and the list goes on & on. His pathetic apology was typical, he knows today's black man is not buying what he's selling, he is a Phoney is there ever was one... |
