Veep Pick Countdown!

By Noon tomorrow, we will know ...
Yet, rumors are swirling around that word may leak out tonight about McCain's veep pick. Drudge says it will leak tonight. This would obviously rain on Obama's parade tonight, which could help divert attention from Obama -- or could backfire, hurting McCain. My guess is that only a truly exciting pick -- say Palin or Jindal -- would be well received under those circumstances.
Still, as McCain's veep pick nears, people are getting nervous. Conservatives are threatening a Republican National Convention walk-out if a pro-choicer is picked -- especially if it's Lieberman. My guess is, this is unlikely -- but still not out of the question.
Meanwhile, Roll Call reports a security sweep of Mitt Romney's family's house. Then, there's Tim Pawlenty. And, as I noted earlier, Pawlenty has cancelled appearances today. All of this, of course, helps fuel the excitement and speculation ...
In related news, McCain plans to run an ad tonight that will refute Obama's speech ...
If you're a political junkie, this is the place to be!

Now we know why Obama built the Greek pleasure palace.

Did you see Biden kiss his teenage niece on the lips? You should have seen her face... she was grossed out. She was clearly upset.
Even if it means giving the Obama Campaign the ability to call them "Grumpy Old Men."
But I think he prefers hangin with Jeri, sippin whiskey and smoking cigars. And who can blame him. |

reported a few minutes ago that Huckabee was on his way to Dayton, along with others...... |
True. Lieberman would be out of "left field." |
I think that would be Right field. |
Here's left field: Fred Thompson. There are your 8 letters. |
yes I also noticed the ardor of the kiss. |
DID YOU NOTICE THE PASSIONATE KISS TH, THINKS HE'S SO HOT OBAMA HA, "PLANTED" ON BIDENS WIFES MOUTH?! A KISS ON THE CHEEK WOULD HAVE BEEN APPROPRIATE. WHAT ELSE CAN THE GREAT ONE GET AWAY WITH? EX DEMOCRAT |

Actually I'm sticking with Grahamnesty. Pawlenty fits right in, though.
In April, Mr. Pawlenty delivered the remarks that probably best reveal his views on the environment. "It looks like we should have listened to President Carter," he told the Minnesota Climate Change Advisory Group. "He called us to action, and we should have listened. . . . Climate change is real. Human behavior is partly and may be a lot responsible. Those who don't think so are simply not right. We should not spend time on voices that say it's not real." http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120373223052387643.html
Carbon taxes and amnesty, winning combination, for sure. |

There is no way McCain will choose Lieberman. They are great friends and we Republicans should be happy Lieberman endorsed McCain. I am sure McCain knows by now knows that there would be complete outrage if he chose a pro-abortion running mate. Ridge has no shot either.
If McCain wins I do hope he offers Lieberman a cabinet position. The governor of Connecticut is a Republican and would pick his replacement! Would love to see how angry that would make Schumer!

John Kerry has cancelled all appearances for tonight and has now received Secret Service protection. Theresa also has filed flight plans for MN next week.
McCain- Kerry 08 |
Only McCain and his inner circle really know.
Everything else is just speculation. The McCain Campaign is probably putting these items on the grapevine to keep the media cycle from being dominated by anticipation of Obama's "I AM the Dream" speech.
I'm sure they will also use the grape vine tomorrow to turn up the expectation prior to letting us know who the pick is (hopefully not a pro-choicer). Those are basic campaign tactics. |

Palin - Great Cantor - Good Pawlenty - so-so Romney - not good Ridge - not good Hutchison - out of contention Jindal - out of contention Lieberman - GOP convention implodes, delegates may vote down required suspension of rules (which I think state that the nominee must have been a registered Republican for at least 60 days) |
I hope it is Palin! I would also be thrilled with KBH! People are concerned about Romney considering the "how many houses" question. However, Romney nailed that question when Matthew's asked him. Romney would be a solid choice and could help clinch NV, CO and make MI really competitive. Pawlenty also works, but I am not as sure as I am with Romney that he could help the ticket in WI and MN.
Smart move to announce the decision tomorrow, it will be the lead story on all the networks and cable news stations rather than Obama’s speech. As I have stated before Obama is going to only see a small short lived bounce from the convention.

I hope it's a pro-lifer/anti-baby-murderer

So does Cantor. I would prefer Palin. |
