Hillary Under 50% vs. Ron Paul
Posted by: Patrick Ruffini at 11:47 PM
Like Brian Faughan, I think this is a very, very big deal. From Jim Geraghty:

Pollster Scott Rasmussen just shared this fascinating observation in an interview: When you average the head-to-head matchups with Hillary Clinton vs. any of the Republicans, she’s always getting 46 to 49 percent against any of them.

“When we polled her against Ron Paul, she got 48 percent of the vote. When we polled on Ron Paul among people who knew who Ron Paul is, she got 48 percent of the vote. When we polled among people who didn’t know who Ron Paul is, she got 48 percent percent of the vote.”

Paul got 38 percent against Hillary.

“In individual head-to-heads with Giuliani it’s essentially a toss up, Thompson trails a little, but they’re all close,” Rasmussen continued. “Clinton and Giuliani, in 11 polls, were within two points of 45 percent - basically ranging from 43 to 47 percent. It reminded me of Election 2004, where after Kerry won the nomination, for more than 60 days,” Kerry and Bush remained quite close to each other.

Listen to Geraghty on this. He was around in 2004. He understands the post-Bush dynamic better than anyone, where 4 points is a landslide. And this is the most compelling evidence I’ve seen that we’re back to the 50-50 divide that marked our politics from 2000-2006.

Basically, Republicans can run a stuffed animal against Hillary and still get 48% of the vote. Only worse. Ron Paul is widely despised by elements of the Republican base. A number of conservatives I know would bolt or sit on their hands if General Zod came down and made sure Ron Paul were the nominee. So what does it say he trails by 10 points? In 1996, the paleocon candidate Pat Buchanan won New Hampshire and he was the subject of a number of head to head polls against Bill Clinton. He got crushed by 25 points or more, and Clinton wasn’t even that popular at the time. And Pat Buchanan had communications skills, and a following in the conservative base.

In 2004, Kerry arose from a muddled field and evened the score with Bush almost overnight. At this point in ‘04, the named Democrat (Kerry, Dean, Clark, etc.) was losing to Bush by 10-15 points; the generic Dem by 6-7 points. The Republican field is similarly muddled this time, and not a lot of people are paying attention to the Republican race. So the Republican nominee has a good opportunity to pick up ground against Hillary post-February 5, who remains largely untested in this campaign. (Obama = $100 million audition for VP.) And she starts no better than even or up a few points against the major Republican candidates.

Hillary not breaking 50% against a guy who wants to abolish the Federal Reserve is a leading indicator of her fundamental weakness in the general election.

REAL as opposed to Politik
Look,
We're on the verge of Socialism, got a Out of Control Judiciary trampling the Constitution, got a bunch of Sandnazis out to Nuke us and a Reconquista Invasion flooding over our Southern Border.

I think the polls show most Americans sense this if they don't put it in such stark terms.

We are in, not one, but 4, count em, 4, Wars of Survival for our Constitutional Republic and our
Sacred Liberties.

I want a Leader who is going to Fight and Win ALL FOUR! ANYTHING (or one) LESS is UNACCEPTABLE indeed INTOLERABLE, indeed NOT SURVIVABLE!

I would further suggest that Ronald Reagan's Principles can be extended to our current situation with thus implied Solutions.

1. We have 2 Foreign "Evil Empires" out to get us. The Sandnazis and the Reconquistas.

2. Domestically Government IS the Problem.

Anyone who wants to Lead me has GOT to FIGHT and WIN ALL FOUR!!! To quote Churchill "For without Victory there is no survival."

Which leads to the Part 2 the 4 Pledges of the Big Mick. And what we need instead of these same ol lame ol "debates" and the POLITICAL HACKS like HH and others who keep hyping on TH this pathetic bunch of Old Geezers, Plastic Men, CINO's and Nut Jobs we got as ridiculous excuses for Candidates.

A Real Alternative to Pseudo Conser
vatives in Pseudo Debate.

Put together a 2 and a half hour special on Fox with a studio audience made up of 65% self-identified Conservative voters and 35% self-identified "Reagan Democrats".

First segment, a number from Lee Greenwood or one of the other Singers and Musicians Hannity gets for his events. Then have Rush or Hannity give a 7 minute speech on "The Four Pillars of Reganism". Next segment repeat format with Hannity or Rush. First half hour.

Over the next 2 hours. Let the top 6 "Candidates" (pisz poor lot that they are) each have 10 minutes on the topic "Why America Needs Another Ronald Reagan." That HAS to be the First Sentence in the Speech, and the Last Sentence HAS to be "And I Am That Man."

These are to be CONVENTION STEM WINDERS not stump speeches or sound bites. Lets HEAR these guys ON something that MATTERS! Let's hear their VISION. Let Ann Coulter do her schtick and skewer Hillybama with one liners between speakers along with other numbers from Hannity's Music people.

Conservative Convention Meets Talk Show Host Tour Meets American Idol.

Bet it gets much better ratings too.

I believe the guy (or woman) who can bring the audience to its feet cheering their guts out, is the guy or gal who can beat Hillybama in 08.

So far it's all been a waste of my time--they're all lame.

Sorry guys
It is a 50/50 divide, but unlike Gore and Kerry, she wins Florida. And probably Ohio, too. Why? Because the independents in those two states didn't trust Gore or Kerry, but they trust Hillary, and they're turned off by the GOP.

And that folks, is the ballgame. You can't beat her without getting those two states. Only Rudy, of all the GOP candidates, has even a chance of taking Florida. I don't think he will, but no one else is even in the conversation.

Does anyone but me get this? I am reading so much hot air about Mitt and illegal immigration and socialism and it's all bs! Hillary WILL win unless it's Rudy plus a few big breaks, that's all!

Baloney
This is very strong evidence that Hillary has a ceiling and Romney, Rudy, McCain and Fred can beat her with the right campaign. With a great campaign and maybe 200 million Huck and Ron Paul can beat her.

However, I do not think that McCain can get the nomination much less beat Hillary with his fund raising problems. Further, based on what I have seen so far, I do not think that Fred has the energy or style to beat her. He does not have the right campaign.

What a bunch of bull! Polling numbers like that that far ahead? If this whole Ron Paul rEVOLution keeps rolling the way it is, he will destroy Hillary. He's the only republican candidate that makes democrats look twice and support him because he's honest even though they might not agree with him on everything. The more exposure he gets to spread his message, the people listen and realize the here is a man who speaks the truth to power. The rest are just pro socialist, pro big business sellouts.

We need to look to the constitution which is the contract between us the people and the government. You know, the thing that the president, soldiers, police officers, etc... are supposed to uphold and swear to uphold?

Conservatives for Ron Paul 2008!
OldRelayer writes: Tuesday, October, 30, 2007 4:41 AM
I know little about Ron Paul
I haven't seen but one debate, that is about the change. Ron Paul doesn't look Presidential. Looks like a librarian, that isn't superficial, it helps to command respect from the domestic and world community. Fred Thompson probably wins in this department, but I am afraid he might not live until to take office if elected, he looks old and tired and not very sharp. Unless I misread Ron Paul, he is a total isolationist, that would make him the candidate to stay away from, no way this country can live in a vacuum for very long. However the Rasmussen poll might be a good indicator with the very extreme on both sides and highlight how polarized our country is. It is one thing to have good ideas like smaller government but quite another to get them implemented, even Ronald Reagan had the most difficult of times trying and for the most part failed, with minor success. I believe but not sure but every Administration since FDR has seen the government growing larger and larger. The government spends as much or more than it takes in, maybe if we had good tax reform they would have to live with less, ergo smaller government, just a thought. Funny when I think of the two parties I think anyone but Hillary and on the republican side anyone but Ron Paul. In the general election it is more like anyone but Hillary. Hard for me to believe this is happening and there is a chance that we could have another Clinton Administration. I might be wrong about Ron Paul, his supporters are sure enthusiastic. I hope to see more of all the candidates and hopefully see some speeches by all, so called debates are pretty much a waste of time, but when that is all you have, we need to take advantage of all the tools available.

Send hate mail to barrym@tds.net, I often don't get back to read additional comments.

I have a question for the PaulBots
Which I will get to at the end of this post.

When I read Hugh's posting on this, I knew that it would whip the PaulBots into a lather. Much of this reminds me of 1992, when Ross Perot stepped into the mix.

There was an element of the conservative base upset with GHWB, and their anger attracted the 'black helicopter' crowd....conspiracy theorists, crackers and neo-nazis.

Much of Perot's support, in fact, came from this element. Indeed, Timothy McVeigh was an adherent of Perot as was much of the Michigan Militia and the Ku Klux Klan. As war & national security was not an issue in 1992, the black helicopter crowd of the left, which we would now call 911Truth Movement, Moveon.org, CodePink, etc. ad nauseum, did not enlist in the Perot camp, sticking instead with Bill Clinton, who, with a split conservative electorate, achieved a plurality of the vote, and thus a victory in 1992.

And, all of this support Perot enjoyed mirrored as well the support had, a decade earlier, by the Federal Prisoner Lyndon LaRouche, whose supporters are now reduced to tables at the County Fair and shoving leaflets beneath wiper blades at suburban shopping malls.

Ron Paul will not win the GOP nomination. You heard it here, perhaps not first. No matter how pasionate you might be for Ron Paul, he will not win.

Ron Paul is now attracting the aforementioned left wing crazies, added to the right wing crazies, which will likely split the dimocrat vote as much as it does that of the GOP.

My question for the PaulBots, some of whom have expressed views, on this and other blogs in line with the doctrine of the American Nazi Party, is:

If Ron Paul does not win the Presidency (he won't), are you guys going to take your submarines and move to Argentina?
biPOLar writes: Tuesday, October, 30, 2007 9:06 AM
You can't win on falsehoods
"My chance of surviving prostate cancer, and thank God I was cured of it, in the United States, 82%," Rudy says. "My chances of surviving prostate cancer in England, only 44% under socialized medicine."

R. Guiliani (radio ad)

But the data Giuliani cites comes from a single study published eight years ago by a not-for-profit group, and is contradicted by official data from the British government.

ABC NEWS

Prostate cancer survival at five years among men diagnosed during 1999-2003 was 74.4 per cent. This was 3.6 percentage points higher than the rate of 70.8 per cent for men diagnosed during 1998-2001. Much of this is likely to be due to increasingly widespread use of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing.

The solution is staring us in the face
We need to find a better stuffed animal.

Actually, all this says is that the Repubs have elected to run as "brand x" against "The Hillary". The Dems have the upper hand because they are running the usual candidate on the typical Dem platform. The Repubs have decided to run as "not Hillary" but on basically the same platform. It's not that Hillary is so scary, it's that the Repubs are so weak. This is an election for the GOP to lose and they are doing everything they can to lose it.

OK, the agenda is the answer
The real problem is to stop the Hildabeast from winning all the Purple states and to pluck a blue state from her. Ohio, Pa. NJ, Mich., Fla. are all in play for someone to get with the right agenda. W and the wussy Pub Congressional leadership simply disappointed the BASE and Independents and the GOP choices and Congressional candidates have to take 4-5 stands and push it continually. 1. Win the generational war against Islamofascism. 2.Cut taxes and make that permanent(even W today made fun of the Dem leadership for doing nothing) 3. SCOTUS choices 4. Border protection Paul is simply not able to do that nationally. But, Mitt, Fred, Rudy all can support this agenda and push it into the Hildabeast's face. But, it must be a unified stance once the nominee is chosen. All this nonsense of a 3rd Party has to stop. Hold your nose, I don't care. But, unite to win a Purple state (Minn. Nev. Pa. Ohio) with all seriousness. Keep the Reds and win a Blue state if possible. One must say that the lower tier guys, Mike, Ron, John cannot do that. I don't think Fred can. That leaves Rudy or Mitt. I pick Rudy.

If the Ron Paul revolution continues? I wasn't sure it even started. I admire his devout supporters who actually believe he has a chance. I like some of his ideas, but he won't ever go further than Congress and the fact he's made it that far is truly remarkable. Let's keep him in office...in Congress.
