Cardinal Rigali and Bishop Lori Blast Pelosi's deception

Now the full weight of the Catholic Church is coming down on Nancy Pelosi. Bravo to Cardinal Rigali and Bishop Lori who join Archbishop Chaput in setting an example for their fellow Church leaders. Now, how about the Bishop of San Francisco? The story:
Cardinal Justin F. Rigali, chairman of the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, and Bishop William E. Lori, chairman of the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Doctrine, have issued the following statement:
In the course of a “Meet the Press” interview on abortion and other public issues on August 24, 2008, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi misrepresented the history and nature of the authentic teaching of the Catholic Church against abortion.
The Church has always taught that human life deserves respect from its very beginning and that procured abortion is a grave moral evil. In the Middle Ages, uninformed and inadequate theories about embryology led some theologians to speculate that specifically human life capable of receiving an immortal soul may not exist until a few weeks into pregnancy. While in canon law these theories led to a distinction in penalties between very early and later abortions, the Church’s moral teaching never justified or permitted abortion at any stage of development.
These mistaken biological theories became obsolete over 150 years ago when scientists discovered that a new human individual comes into being from the union of sperm and egg at fertilization. In keeping with this modern understanding, the Church has long taught that from the time of conception (fertilization), each member of the human species must be given the full respect due to a human person, beginning with respect for the fundamental right to life.

Ms. Pelosi is a "super market Catholic." She embraces her faith, when doing so garners her votes. Others who accept her position's of "the Church" are either not aware of them, or they too embrace standards that allow them to follow only those teaching's that fit their beliefs, or they make up convenient teaching's.
Whether Ms. Pelosi calls herself ardent, emphatic, or euphoric, she is not qualified to speak with any authority on the teaching's of "the Church."
If state &/or the national legislature passes a law or laws that recognize or legalize abortion, we will have laws regarding abortion. Until then, what we have is the opinion of a few liberal judges imposed on all, and w/o regard for our constitutional process.
This is why so many want the constitution to be a "living or breathing" document. The reason why is obvious. Those who favor abortion fear that no state or national legislature will pass laws legalizing abortion. They fear no constitutional convention would push for an amendment to legalize abortion.
I say, ask the people. If they call for it to be legalized, so be it. BUT, if they do not, then accept the restrictions applied and work on how to help those who become pregnant.
Personally (and my opinion probably does not really count since I cannot get pregnant or father a child), if the mothers life is in danger, then I could accept abortion. Cannot think of other exceptions right now, but there must be some.
However, on the issue of abortion currently being legal... THAT is another issue. It is not legal, it is a legal precedent set by a few judges who did not openly debate the law as our constitution calls for. |

As a truly ardent and practicing Catholic, I am thankful and grateful for the Bishop's and Archbishop's timely response. However, it is vital that Catholics all over this nation recognize the danger in letting someone as public as Nancy Pelosi have her way with the press without paying the price. As Catholics we have a moral responsibility not only to recognize and speak out about the grevious error and damage of her words but to respond with our votes. This message from Pelosi is symptomatic of the left wing of the Democratic party which is represented by Obama, the most anti-life presidential candidate in history. Shame on any Catholic who votes for this man and his platform. Catholics MUST unite on this issue. "We are the ones we've been waiting for" . |

Ardent Catholic.....Hmmmm? The 4th definition of Ardent from Dictionary.com is:
4. burning, fiery, or hot: the ardent core of a star.
Nancy at first I did not agree with you but on second thought I do. You are an "Ardent" or Burning Catholic whose bad practice of the faith has rewarded you with 30 pieces of earthly Silver in your exalted position as Speaker of the House. You got your worldly payment because you are an Abortion supporting female Democrat. This Mrs. Pelosi will get you a seat in a place worst than Dantes Inferno and more Ardent than the "Core of a Star" that is unless you change your ways and stop spreading your Heretcal beliefs of the Catholic Church hoping to trap other Catholics in your Web of Lies about Abortion!

Finally, I am very proud of the Catholic bishops to speak up on behalf of the unborn babies.
Every human being, has a God given right to live, here on earth and for eternity in heaven.
God Created man in His own image, thus the life of a human being born and unborn belongs to God and is God's domain, the human soul is created at the moment of conception.
The God-given-right to life and the Human Right of the person or the baby is stolen in the name of choice, when one terminates that person/baby.

Indeed the Church has always taught that Life is Sacred from the Moment of Conception before Humanity knew anything about Cell Biology, Meiosis, Mitosis, DNA and Embryology. The subject of Church Fathers and Ensoulment are above Nancy Pelosi's "Pay Grade" for she is a Bad Catholic! That is the Tragic part because she does not need to be an Ethicist, Theologian, or Nun....she just need to be of lowly estate like Mother Mary who was the simple HandmMadien of the Lord! If Nancy Pelosi were truly an Ardent Roman Catholic instead of an Ardent Participant in Abortion she would remember the Hail Mary which is prayer inspired by the Gospel honoring this very ordinary Women of the book of Luke who follow GOD so closely that she became Extraordinary. Tragic...the ProLife Principle outlined in the Bible which was around before St. Agustine! Jesus was Alive when John surged in Elizabeth's Uterus!

Human life is an unbroken chain from creation. Any human meddling in the continuum of life that destroys the being of an individual is plain murder and is an act against the survival of the species. Not only is it illogical but evil. Anyone sharing in the propagation of this evil that results in the death of an individual human being, should be prosecuted for a crime again humanity the same as a common murderer would be. May God damn all abortions!!! |

I am not a Catholic, I'm LDS. I do, however, fully support the statement from these religious leaders. The LDS Church holds the same view about the value of life. A Christian who supports, or accepts the concept of death of the unborn are total hypocrits and should publically repent of their desire to kill these innocents.
It is inconceivable to me to believe that anyone who declares he or she believes Christ, yet commits or condones this practice, are putting the Savior to shame. If you believe Christ, show where there is any, I mean any, jusification to accept abortion.
To make matters worse, there are thousands of legimately married couples who would accept the new arrivals from heaven in a heart beat. There is no excuse for abortion; it is disgusting to those who value life.
I really do not care if anyone disagrees; those who use the refrain "it's my body, I'll do what I want" are tampering with forces they will one day feel, much to their sorrow. |
