I'm Already at Peace
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 9:53 PM
Just spoke to a friend on the phone who called to see how I was doing.

"Fine!" I said cheerfully.

I am. If all continues to go in Obama's favor this evening, it's going to be very liberating to be able to fight bad policy from a completely honest standpoint. Meaning, conservatives would be able to confront terrible ideas, like the bailout bill, head-on without having to worry about what the Executive branch might do to undermine the concerns.

So, yes, I have my silver lining.

Painful but necessary
In the long run, this is probably better.
Nathania writes: Tuesday, November, 04, 2008 10:04 PM
I'll stick to my guns from now on.
I'm looking forward to a reinvented conservative movement. A couple years of Obama should help tremendously.

I think we should learn that we SHOULD not defend administrations of our own party when they spend entirely way too much and don't handle wars all that great either.

A while back, I almost wanted Obama to win b/c I didn't want McCain to represent the Republican party. But I listened to arguments by Republicans for McCain and listened to Rush about not trusting the polls.

Next time, I'll trust my gut from the beginning.

I'm at peace too
We conservatives are more gracious in defeat, if it does come to that. We don't send teams of lawyers, we don't riot and burn cars. We're more forgiving--maybe because we tend to be more spiritually grounded.

If Obama were to lose, there'd be riots. If Obama wins, we all know there could be riots too. An Obama win could mean open season on businesses, so we could see some looting. Besides, all would be forgiven under Obama right?

Good posts Nathania and PC
PC - Yep, I'm looking at this in the long term too. There is acute pain right now but we must regroup.

Nathania, you're right we should have not defended Bush when he was spending us into oblivion, etc. etc. Sad to say, but Bush sold out in many ways and did great harm to the GOP and McCain was a continuance of that RINO-approach governing. It never works.

Conservatives simply MUST regroup and win back Congress in 2010 and the WH in 2012 ... with true CONSERVATIVES.

The Hollywood Factor
With Oprah, the media and the big money behind Obamam, it's great McCain has done as well as he has. This election is purely emotional, plain and simple, and that's a very tough opponent.

Palin in 2012!!!
One thing I think we need to learn is not to elect non-Reagans in our primaries any more. George Bush was never a Reagan conservative, nor is John Mccain. If we are smart we will look to who is the bright, conservative, and articulate star of the republican party and this is Sarah Palin. Remember when Mitt Romney runs again that he only became "conservative" when he wanted to be president, We most not fall for a fake conservative again. John Mccain's fall means Sarah Palin's rise to the top in the Republican party. Do not lose hope, remember that Ronald Reagan lost in the primary of 1976 to Gerald Ford only to come back and win big in 1980. Barak Obama is going to go so far to the left that the Republicans will be back in power in two years (remeber what happened to Clinton!) However, we must learn from our mistakes and never elect a fake conservative in our primaries again. We need a true conservative as RNC chairman and keep our eyes and support on Sarah Palin because she is the only one who will undo the damage that Barak Obama will do as president.

I'm with you Amanda
But living in an area so heavily infested...er...occupied by democrats, it'll take some pride swallowing and overcoming a lot of disappointment to move on despite all the jubilation going on around me. Yes we can now fight Obama's bad policies, without worrying about hurting our own cause. Let's just hope tonight's Obama supporters will see him for who he really is before 2012. And lets hope our great country won't be majorly transformed, ie socialistic, in the meantime.

Exit polling is showing
That Palin was one of the big reasons mac tanked so bad. This is a blow out.
Now that she's the biggest loser, will some of you admit that she's not ready for prime time? AND she no longer has a place in GOP leadership.
arik writes: Tuesday, November, 04, 2008 10:42 PM
On the bright side
Now we'll be able to feel what the democRats have felt for 8 years; a President that makes us want to vomit everytime he opens his mouth.

Buck up guys
It is WAY more fun being in the opposition. I'm not looking forward to being in the position of defending Dems here.

Are you kidding?
You have to be totally naive to believe you have the slightest chance to even have 2010 to THINK about when you consider THE ONE will soon institute his Gestapo/StormTroopers/Brownshirts/FruitOfIslam to enforce his dicta upon the soon to be established Zimbabwe-USA.
Did you not hear his repeated call for his personal Praetorian Guard, trained, funded and spread throughout the United States with powers superceding those of the local, state and federal police?
What were you doing, Sheeple?
The very first taste of such came in Philly at a polling place and that was just a quickie.
GET USED TO IT!
Yes, we will soon be living in interesting times.

Told Ya' So, CINO's
The GOP has steadfastly abandoned the US Constitution, the free market, true Conservatism, small government, and capitalism. It has embraced endless war, endless deficits, endless national debt, NAFTA(endless outsourcing of American jobs), endless nation building, endless corporate welfare, endless socialism, and endless illegal immigration. In other words, it has become the Democratic Party! It's a NO-BRAINER why you blithering idiots lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW MANY TIMES WERE YOU TOLD AFTER 2006 BY THE LIKES OF EVEN SHAMELESS ANYTHING BUT CONSERVATIVE GOP SHILLS LIKE RUSH BIMBO and SEAN INSANITY THEMSELVES THAT YOU CAN'T WIN ELECTIONS BY ABANDONING CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES - THE SAME PRINCIPLES THEY THEMSELVES ABANDONED IN TURN BY SUPPORTING MCSHAMNESTY??? GET A CLUE!!!!!!!! THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE! Ronald Reagan wouldn't even recognize today's Liberal-Beyond-Belief GOP. Bush's "COMPASSIONATE CONSERVATISM" was a euphemism for Democratic Socialism and Corporate Welfare, but you CINO idiots marched off the cliff drinking the Kool-Aid of RUSH BIMBO & SEAN INSANITY and many others in talk radio who were no more true Conservatives than my damn dumb dog!
Take Back the Government writes: Tuesday, November, 04, 2008 11:11 PM
Not Threw With You IDIOTS Yet
True Conservatism is a WHOLE LOT MORE than opposing Abortion and opposing gay marriage and supporting more tax breaks and drilling for more oil. True Conservatism never embraces endless warmongering and nation building. Most of the CINO's on here have not one iota of a clue what it even means to be a Conservative. Most importantly, true Conservatives NEVER throw Conservative and Constitutional principles out the door in favor of short-term political expediency. Conservatives embrace free speech, and should welcome Conservative 3rd party voices to the political arena instead of ostracizing them and blacking them out like the MSM and DC do. The ostracization and ensuing media blackout of Ron Paul and other Conservative 3rd Party candidates by the GOP and the MSM was a defining moment at how far the GOP has strayed from both Conservatism & UNCONSTITUTIONAL principles! Conservatives were COMPLETELY 100% NEGLECTED by this GOP. You neglect us again at your own peril!

Take solace in the fact
playing offense is a whole lot more fun than playing defense. The dems are firmly in control, and thus own the blame. Tonight cleaned our ranks, time to move on and watch the dems squirm under scrutiny.
