VDH on the Dalibama
Posted by: Hugh Hewitt at 11:56 AM
Don't miss Victor Davis Hanson's short, pointed assessment of the Obama tailspin.  (HT: RobinsonandLong.com)

And here is Rudy on Hillary's speech:

"I think she gave a very good speech from her point of view and our point of view, but not necessarily for Barack Obama's point of view," he told Fox News.

"She never really answered the key question, is he prepared to be president? Which is the issue she put out there, rather dramatically, during the primaries."

What tailspin?
Neither any of the Dems nor any of the ABC or NBC commentators seemed to think there's any tailspin. They all agree that Hillary "hit a homerun" with her speech and that the Democrats have achieved a wonderful unity.

Well, actually, not all. ABC evening news had a feature by a reporter in Denver on Pelosi's wining and dining of the big-ticket donors in a posh penthouse while the regular people the Dems say only they stand up for, their own delegates, had a luncheon choice of $7 hotdogs or hunger. Then the reporter was assaulted by a Denver police sergeant (grabbed by the throat) and arrested. (And ABC actually aired this; hope for the MSM yet.)

As I was just posting last night: Myth: The Democrats stand for the common person; the Republicans take care of their rich cronies. Uh-huh. Wanna buy a swamp?

"Your side just has such a smug, holier than thou attitude."

So you feel justified acting the same way? Your visciousness has been on display here before, and when people are overly offended by others behavior it is ususally because they see reflections of themselves.

I'm not very religious, but I'm pretty sure it isn't your place to decide who gets communion and who doesn't.

And as for "your side", you obviously don't pay attention or think much or you wouldn't use that term so freely. I do appreciate your self awareness though;

Of course not, there are bad Dems and good Republicans. Your side just has such a smug, holier than thou attitude. BTW- the catholic Church is also opposed to the death penalty. If pro-choice folks are going to be denied communion, death penalty proponents should be treated the same.

sure, let's have the discussion. Larry Craig- gay bathroom sex and still in the Senate. Ann Coulter- trannie. Bob Ney-just released from prison. Oliver North- convicted but reversed by a technicality. Funny how your side didn't object to that. O'Reilly- sexual harasser. Duke Cunningham- guest of the state. G.Gordon Liddy-convicted felon but commonly quoted right wing nut. Vitter- probably goes out with Morris trolling for hookers. Tom Delay-money launderer. My fingers are getting tired from all this typing.

Illinois Obama and the Temple of Doom
Apparently Illinois Obama is challenling Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is the aniversary of the I Had A Dream Speech.

Even Andrew Sullivan thinks its over the top.

I really liked both articles Hugh posted
VDH is right on about the "tragedy" of the Obamessiah, not sensing his own oozing self-parody what with his massive stadium rock show featuring a Greek temple podium .... getoutahere! He's really going to do that?

Endless campaign ads and posters will feature His Royal Highness in a Greek toga with those fake marble columns framing his performance, and his snooty nose pointed straight up in the air as he issues the Laws of Obama!

Also loved the Yahoo article about Rudy's reaction to the Hillary non-endorsement speech ... especially the imagery evoked by the phrase near the end, "... once again picking at the Democrat's wounds with many Clinton supporters still distraught at her defeat."

Love it!!!!!

Rudy has no mercy for morons ... I would be shocked if he were picked as McCain's VP, but at the same time I'd love it because he would take no prisoners.

This coming from the party of Bill Clinton (and his complicit wife), John Edwards (and his complicit wife), Kwame Kilpatrick, Marion Barry, Eliot Spitzer, Gary Hart? Really? Is this the conversation you want to have?

Rudy
Rudy the drag queen adulterer. Dick Morris- prostitute toe sucker. McCain- dumps wife for rich heiress. Gingrich- cheats on wife and serves divorce papers when she is hospitalized. Rush Limbaugh- drug addled 3 time loser in the marital wars. Obama- married 1 time, 2 beautiful children with no hint of marital scandal. Tell me again about the party of family values.

Kurtz on Ayers-Obama
Kurtz is finding those previously closed files are showing a rather strong connection between Obama and Ayers (Kurtz just got in them yesterday and was looking rather tired when I saw him speak). Stronger than Barack led on. Now serving on a board with a former terrorist does not necessarily make you a terrorist sympathizer--but it sure raises a legitimate issue about associations you might have. http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ZDI4YzUyYmI1ZjA1OWUzM DA5ZDIzNTI4NTk5ZmYwYWY=

Combining that with an effort to stomp on free speech, block access to libary records, and other shennangins and you have a story. And oh by the way, here is Ayers doing a little dance on Old Glory. http://marathonpundit.blogspot.com/2008/05/bill-ayers-step ping-on-us-flag-in-2001.html In 2001.

Barack Obama was just a kid then...ummm....a 40 year old kid.

Twilight of the Gods..
Now that Hillary has had her 15 minutes of fame in Denver, it's Bill's turn at the plate in his attempt to [NOT] advance the flag.

I wonder if he will make a dramatic entry like that interminable march from the sub-basement men's room to the podium of the Los Angeles Convention Center in 2000?

At least the Great Messiah, B-uh-rak Uh-Bama, has a convention to match his abilities: vapid, insipid, devoid of substance, and without serious gravitas.

Obama experience
Thanks Hugh for reminding us about Obama's lack of experience. We just have to look back to 2000 to see what can happen when an inexperienced incompetent with no foreign policy background gets into the White House. Thank goodness Bush surrounded himself with experienced pols like Cheney,Rummy,Wolfie,Feith et al. Just imagine what would have happened if he didn't have the good judgment to pick those folks to tell him what to do.

No Communion For Abortion Joe

Obama's Pick for Vice President Is Catholic. But the Bishops Deny Him Communion

"In interview with the Associated Press, Chaput said that Biden's support for the so-called "right" to abortion is a serious public error. And he added: "I presume that his integrity will lead him to refrain from presenting himself for Communion."

During these same days, from Rome, another American archbishop, Raymond L. Burke, has spoken out on the same question and along the same lines: he, too, says communion should not be given to pro-abortion Catholic politicians."

The Hits Just Keep On Comin'

At what point does one begin to wonder whether Biden made Obama an offer he couldn't refuse?

-----

Obama, Biden's Son Linked by Earmarks

"Sen. Barack Obama sought more than $3.4 million in congressional earmarks for clients of the lobbyist son of his Democratic running mate, Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, records show. Obama succeeded in getting $192,000 for one of the clients, St. Xavier University in suburban Chicago."
