AKA. patriotic liberal; as if there is such a thing!
"The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at LIBERTY them that are bruised." Luke 4:18. Jesus Christ, spoke those words. And, with that verse, your contention("scripture is explicit, the Christian experience is a call to duty, and NOT a call to liberty") is completely, refuted, not by me, but by Jesus Christ, himself. Is he "explicit" enough for you. |

This ain't the obit page here. Very sorry for ever'body who died, but
you gonna get what you wish for.. Barack. Gotta have Brack! |

I'm sorry to hear about your dad, but I am glad he was comforted by the presence of his loved ones at the end. God bless and keep you and your family.. |

pegged at 4:19pm here. Times are way too serious for the likes of McCain. But, NOT too serious for the..errrr...seriously serious Obama.
Yep, when one thinks of the Vast Historical Moment through which we are passing, one immediately thinks: Barack, by Gawd, he's the wise, adult, seasoned, tempered LEADER we need.
Uh-huh, let's hear it for America needing the enormous talents of a crypto-Alinskyite Marxist with NO passion whatsoever for American Exceptionalism; with friends--up close & personal--who are Unrepentant Maoist Radicals and a 20-year Spiritual Guide & mentor who is a militantly Marxist Liberation Theology America loather.
And, the resume. Who, with a brain, wouldn't say that Bazama's resume is full and flavorful? Who would not read that resume and say to themselves: My oh my, this man is destined to be President of the Unipolar Power on Earth! Especially when Dark Age Death Cultists wish us destroyed by any means possible. Gotta have Barack! Just Gotta! |

I made it up just to tweak those of lesser intelligence; you fell for it!
Seriously though I read it but cannot remember where. Revenue to the treasury up 18% or something along those lines and this is able to be found if you want to find it. The problem is you cannot think of the income tax system statically. If you make the income tax rate low enough and eliminate the complex tax code and its various loopholes, the treasury would be swimming in more money than they do already. The problem is Congress spends it faster than it comes in.
Eliminate the 16th amendment go to a consumption tax and exclude food, clothing, pharmaceuticals, and any other staple items excluding booze, cigarettes, fast food, so that the working poor continue to pay little or no tax and watch the treasury swell. Our GDP and the economy run like a scalded dawg. A little Southern lingo.

Fifty-four year old man. No I have seen the Sting a number of times and it is one of my most favorite movies. You probably won’t believe this but I have never seen Deliverance. I know, I’ve lead a sheltered life. Do you like this Netflix thing and how well does it work? Robert Smith spoke very highly of the Bruins and said they are close to getting back to the glory days. I am old enough to remember Gary Beban!

Magua again! You conservatives continually claim that lower taxes produce higher tax revenue; but it's never happened. Here's a link, where there's some real data: http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/09/pdf/supply side.pdf ... including quotes from: Republican Treasury Se. Henry Paulson: "As a general rule, I don't believe that tax cuts pay for themselves." Republican Fed. Res. Chmn Ben Bernanke: Tax cuts "only partially offset the losses in revenue." McCain advisor Douglas Hoztz-Eakin: Do tax cuts generate "enough additional revenue to pay for themselves? No." Republican Chmn CEA Edward Lezear: "I certainly would not claim that tax cuts pay for themselves."
Where's your data? Or are you just repeating something you heard from Hannity? |
|
For all you perceptive, and oh-so-objective people, McCain's little scenario about the bracelet went so smoothly, precisely because the phony S.O.B. had rehearsed it, planned to use it. Obama ad-libbed his, which was therefore hesitant, but genuine. I swear, you morons will swallow anything; and you'd praise McCain, if he came out wearing a barrel and playing a nose flute. Come to think of it, he might have looked better doing that. McCain and Obama don't look at all like Master and Sparrow, because Master isn't a wrinkled, geriatric wearing too much make-up. |

Thank you and I am sorry your mom had to go that way. It is horrible and appears much more pervasive than ever before. It could be I think this way because it has struck so close to home. I have been able to take care of both parents.

Magua- we just finished a tight game against Fresno State and lost 36-31. Good game, at least we're moving the ball and getting some offense. It will take several years to get up and running. OK, here's your assignment, and you'll thank me. Rent Butch Cassidy ASAP, either at the store or through Netflix. This movie is not to be missed by rational humans. If you are a female, you'll see of the two best looking men in film history, and if you're a guy, you get the glorious Katherine Ross. Great script, great scenery and lots of fun. Report back when you've seen it. Please don't tell me you haven't seen The Sting. If not, make it a double feature night. |

I am a veteran. What Obama did was shameful and a slap on the face to everyone who has served their country muchless died for it. Community organizing for 3 years before going to Harvard Law school does not count as service to your country when working under the control of the Chicago Dailey machine. I am so ashamed of the Democrat's choice of presidential candidates. |
|
|
It seemed to me that McCain was alternately a little nutty, a little stupid, and a little senile.Obama was intelligent, in possession of himself and an engaging personality. Judging from the early public polling a lot of others saw it that way too. |
|
Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your father. Thankfully you spent time with him, as a family, before he departed.
We said goodbye to my mother 3 years ago as she too died of cancer. We too had quality time with her before she passed. I've lost two young friends with similar disease. |
|
I didn't even realize they were still on the air. I thought with their marquis talent (term used very loosely) running for the Senate in Minnesota, I thought they would have folded their tent and disassembled their erector set antenna. You talk about the kook fringe. I cannot imagine what upset them so. I didn’t think BHO did badly at all last night. I think he handled things reasonably well given his inexperience. As a conservative I think McCain could have pulverized him with his economic policies, and his voting record…more so than he did. |
|
Thank you for your kindness. I agree there is no better way to go and I am happy your dad didn't have to suffer.
I loved Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke cutting the parking meter heads with the pipe cutter and as Henry Gondorf in the sting. I never have seen Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid...believe it or not. I have never heard anything but good things about his humanitarian efforts all without calling attention to himself. In this day and age married to the same beautiful woman for 51 years with his great looks is a testament to his love and respect for his wife. God rest his soul.
I hope your Bruins are faring well. The Nitaly Lions are on in a couple of hours.
Cheers! |
|
I enjoyed the older stuff. Hud was probably his best. But nothing sexier than Newman and Taylor in: Cat on a Hot Tin roof. The best. I was telling my husband how all us girls were so disappointed when he married JoAnn. We didn't think she was pretty enough for him. Age wises you up to what a great guy he really was. I'm sure he fell in love with her beautiful soul. Not that she wasn't pretty. We just expected Liz Taylor, Debbie Reynolds or Natalie Woods. But it seems like they both got a great catch and had a wonderful life together. God Bless him and his family. |
|
|
Magua-sorry for your loss.My family was luckier. My dad was 91, still drove and lived in his house. Also had a lady friend and was still "active", according to her. He was at home in his favorite chair reading a book, took a nap and died peacefully. No better way to go. paul Newman was a great star and according to all accounts a great human being. So many favorite movies and lines. "Think you used enough dynamite there Butch?" |

How can it be that your biggest liberal radio station Air America is livid at Obama for his poor performance ? |
|
|
I was completely surprised last night and this morning that the Fox people, Frank Luntz, and numerous others interviewed evidently didn’t understand the debate protocol. Until I saw a post from (white salamander) a college debate judge , I didn’t know it either. However, Jim Lehrer surely should have known with all the debates he has hosted. |
|
I believe you know more about monkeys than you do people...perhaps from having so many family dinners with them.
In debating, you are taught to never look at your opponent in order to minimize reaction to what is said and thus take a potential weapon away.
If you noticed, lastnight McCain appeared confident and unaffected; it was Obama who had moments of appearing flustered.
You should try to know what you're talking about before you post,it might save you from making a fool of yourself.....next time. |
|
It is a horrible disease and would wish it on no one. It actually in the end was a relief because of his suffering.
Thank you for your kindness and empathy. We know he and I am sure Paul Newman is in a better place.

My prayers for you and your family as well, and condolences for your loss. God comfort you.
My dad went the same way a few years ago, so I know just how you feel.... |

While doing my errands this afternoon I turned on air America radio. Sometimes I just need a good laugh and I like to hear what the darkside is saying. Keep in mind this is the biggest liberal radio station in the country. I didn't catch the names of the host. These guys and the callers were screaming mad. Totally out of control. How could a 72 year old geezer kick the crap out of their guy ? They were not so mad at McCain. They were really pi**ed off at Obama. They now consider him a total loser wimp. You could probably e-mail air America for a transcript of the show. It was around noon central standard. Point being even they know and are disgusted with Obama. Just too funny.

Arch,
Thanks for the update. I really want to see capital gains taxes suspended. This will completely invalidate the leftists’ static tax model, the higher the percentage…the greater the revenue.
I am dubious that they would allow this in the bill because of the possible repercussions. |

Another source said Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.), a strong critic of the administration plan, praised leadership for insisting that free-market principles be part of the solution to the financial sector meltdown. He also said he was pleased that Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) is now at the table advocating these views. ...
[Financial Services ranking member Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.)] said he continues to advocate giving loans to Wall Street firms as opposed to spending taxpayer dollars outright. Administration officials agreed last night to consider this option, he said. ...
Bachus said Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) significantly helped GOP Members by returning to the Hill this week because his message was that “House Republicans are relevant” and “we’re not going to roll the House Republicans.”
McCain has “turned the negotiations around” within 48 hours, he said.
Bachus said he told McCain early in the week that it would be helpful if he took part in negotiations on the rescue package. ...
It remains to be seen how much impact the House Republicans (and, therefore, McCain) will have in the end, and whether any improvements they can make in the bailout bill will be worth the political pain of associating themselves with it. |
|
A Report From the House
A spokesman for House Republicans wrote this morning:
Staff negotiations on the economic stability package lasted until about 2:30 this morning and will resume in about an hour.... It appears that some progress is being made on the inclusion of key Republican principles that include tax payer and home owner protections and adoption of some free market points in the final package. Mr. Blunt, as the Republican’s lead negotiator, [has] reemphasized that fact that Democrats are in charge, they are in the majority and if they want Republicans to help pass this package – as they’ve said – then there will have to be Republican ideals in the legislation (and some unpalatable issues removed).
That Republicans have significant bargaining power, notwithstanding their minority status, is testament to the deep unpopularity of the Democrats' bailout measure and their consequent need to share responsibility with Republicans in Congress--not just with President Bush, who isn't running.
Roll Call, meanwhile, reports:
House conservatives are feeling a renewed sense of relevance after a Friday morning Conference meeting. Sources in the meeting said Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) received a standing ovation as he briefed Members on the state of play of the $700 billion bailout proposal.
There was “unanimous support for the leadership and the position they have taken,” the source said. “Not a single Member stood up to object” to GOP leadership efforts to have Wall Street finance part of its own bailout.

A good man indeed! My dad just went the same route on August 25th. A miserable way to die but had his entire family there near the end.
May God rest their souls. |

I am not sure to whom this 4:19 rant was directed. It doesn’t matter. I will address it. I hate to correct you when you are on such a roll. However, BHO is more white than black; in fact he is more Arab than black...much more. Elder published the percentages a couple weeks back and we don't need to rehash.
You folks nominate an unqualified, phony Marxist and when he doesn't get elected the electorate is wrong; and he will not get elected. Look at the war hero (looking out for lonely heiresses everywhere) nominated four years ago. It wasn't an inferior candidate. It is not your leftist beliefs. Alas, it is the idiot electorate. Can I get me a huntin’ license? Your candidates are not qualified even with the propping up and exaggeration of their qualifications by the Propaganda Ministry.
You seem like a reasonable individual albeit wrong. Government is part of the problem. They are never part of the solution. This principal of limited government is a testament to the genius of the founders. Here endeth the lesson! |
|
|
A great actor, a good Democrat, a fine man, and a national treasure. He made some terrific movies, and no one was better at being lovably out-of-control. Like I said, that poker sequence in the Sting with Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw) was arguably the greatest scene in film history. Well, maybe that's a stretch, but, man...The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, Slapshot, Butch and Sundance--I mean, come on! Surrounded by wife and family at his death. A life well lived. |
|
I appreciate your anecdote on Paul Newman. I enjoyed nearly every movie he made. Thanks again. |
|
..and your leadership. You make a big deal about a bracelet, but have nothing meaningful to add about the credit crunch or the Iraq misadventure or the Katrina fiasco. You had everything to DO with those failures of government, but when it comes to election time, it is all about bracelets and Dick Cheney's daughter.
Times are too serious. We are too up against it. Your childish metaphors are not wanted any more. The public thinks Barack won--and they are right. Mac couldn't even bring himself to look at Barack. This was supposed to be Mac's strong area, and Barack was the more rational, less pathologic, more big-pictured, less small-minded guy up there. You clowns think Mac won because you are pathologic and small-minded--just look at the fuss you are trying to gin up about Barack's bracelet. But those days are over. America ain't having it. We're gonna win, despite the fact we are spotting you 5-10% of the idiotic component of our constituency, who would have voted for some other Dem, but won't vote for BHO because he's black. Despite that, we're gonna win. And you babbling about bracelets only reinforces in the public mind how trivial, ridiculous, and even weird you Reeps are. |

I got to watch him--up close--many, many times in the 1970s at Universal. He and his partner, John Foreman, had Bungalow offices on the lot. Paul was a Coors Beer drinker and rarely without a can on or near him. Nope, not an alkie, nor even a problem drinker, but he always had it with him. His favorite car was a VW Bug with a souped-up Porsche engine and he was often out front of his bungalow with the lid up on the VW, tinkering away on the engine, with a Coors can in one hand or fender or curb. During that time he did, "Sometimes a Great Notion" on location in Oregon. Early in the shooting, he fired the director, Richard Colla, and took the reigns himself. He and Redford did "The Sting" for U. and George Roy Hill(who'd directed them in 'Butch & Sundance')and it made so much $$money that the studio threw a Saturday All Day Long party for ALL U. employees on the back lot where many of the scenes had been shot. Paul and some others--McQueen, Streisand, Hoffman, Poitier--formed First Artists during that period, as well, for the purpose of doing small movies to their personal liking. He did "Pocket Money" with he & Lee Marvin for F.A. and then, "Life & Times of George Roy Bean" which John Huston directed during that period, too. And "Slap Shot" for U. & G.Roy Hill...
Wonderful career and a wonderful Stand-Up man. He loved Joanne right down to the bottoms of her feet and it was mutual. He died 30-years to the day after my Mom and they both put many smiles on my face and do as I write this. Good journey, Paul and Zoe. |

"To me, that's presidential behavior by Obama."
Wait a minute! McCain IS Bush, McCain IS Bush, McCain IS Bush.
Where in the flying f*** have you been?!
If Obama agrees with McCain about all things foreign policy except the decision to go into Iraq (which he NEVER had to vote on) and his willingness to kiss the hands of tyrants without preconditions (which he now denies), then that means that Senator Obama agrees with Bush.
For crying out loud! Obama undermined his whole campaign last night and the 527's will rightfully twist his sorry little Marxist head off for it.
Egads. |
|
I'm gonna make ya an offer ya can't refuse. Vote for Barack, get ya reward in heaven. |
|
|
Obama would make a great pickup basketball organizer in the hood...certainly not a presidential candidate in a capitalist nation. Maybe Mohammed Farah Aidid's kid needs some help in Somalia looking for tires to burn. That would be right up his alley. |
|
|
Obama won the debate. No goofs, he wore a flag lapel pin (unlike Mccain) looked better and came off as smarter and better prepared. Luntz's focus group of undecideds on Fox gave the edge to Obama and the polls all show either a tie or a win for Obama. This was Mccain's best shot based on the topic and he didn't win. Polls are up for Obama and now we get to see Palin. That should put the final nail in the coffin. |
|
You talkin a me? I ast you, you talkin a ME?
I got one a them emails asking me to work for Obama in New Hampshire..
Turn Sarah loose? Tie Sarah up is more like it. She's a great candidate for mayor of a small town, but she's less than helpful out in the real world. |
|
Hey Dud,
Greatings from my parents' basement. Mom just made some wings and is going to Game Stop to get me a new video game.
I just received an email from the McCain Palin campaign asking me to work for them at home in South Carolina.
Below is my response to the campaign:
Not unless Mcbipartisan gets off this reaching across the aisle crap. Turn Sarah loose and realize the Democrats don't like you! If you get back on the conservative message and start hammering Obama for the Marxist he is, I will be happy to work tirelessly for the ticket.
|
|
....."Sometimes nothin' is a real cooool hand!"
God bless the memory of Paul Newman.... |
|
He sure didn't show it to us as McCain did, did he? I hear the same quote in my head every time I look at the man.
"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
As far as I'm sconcerned, he can go and stand with them now in any country (besides here) where his Muslim counterparts reside. And good riddance! |
|
|
McCain's campaign publicly declared him the winner before the debate started. No such luxury in the general election. He's cold toast. Lookout for "Landslide" Obama! |
|
|
I was just watching Fox and they had McConnell and Gregg discussing the 700 billion. I googled him and lo and behold he is a flannel mouth lawyer who has never worked in private industry. He has always been in government and these people have no idea of how to resolve this and putting them in charge is beyond foolish it is calamitous. |
|
|
I too was embarrassed for BO on the bracelet comment. Like a little brother trying too hard to fit in with the older kids. |
|
|
Case in point. One Pa. poll has Obama up 6 points. But if you go inside that poll you will see as much as 20% undecided. Not sure or could possibly change their minds. |
|
I've a good degree of confidence you can decide for yourself the implications of Obama's misreprentation---or----outright LIE over Henry Kissinger's positions on engaging rogue nations.
The spin from King Ding-a-Ling Liberal's chattering class offers predictable excuse. What an irrelevant dolt. |
|
I'm very disappointed that your comments were censored.
Fortunately, you haven't been banned outright like conservatives are on Kos, HuffPo, moveon, ABC, NBC, CBS,... |
|
Obama not knowing the name of the military person inscribed on the bracelet he wears ranks way, way up on the list of the most pitiful things I've heard. It is sad too.
This tells me one thing . . . He is wearing the bracelet for POLITICAL purposes -- not to honor the falled warrior!
Actually, it tells me something else too -- he is a slimy. |
|
The press and Obama camp have done a great job at intimidating voters. That's another reason I don't trust the polls. If you're a white democrat and that's very easy to check with poll sheets, you'd better say you're voting for Obama. They have painted these people as redneck racist kracker's. So if I'm one of them I'd lie to the pollsters or say I'm undecided. Is't it a mazing how many undecided there still are in the election ? |
|
Thanks, I will sleep better tonight :-).
First and foremost I think the truth is more important than bloviating. I have been clear since starting to post on TH. I am no fan of John McCain. However, I am a conservative not a Republican. If the Democrats in Washington were smart (now bear with me I realize this requires a huge leap of faith) they could outflank many of the Republicans by going farther right of them. Many of the Republicans are trying to out Democrat the Democrats. If what you seek is power and this is my contention for the Democrat’s reason to exist; being right of the Republicans would land much more support than the Code Pinkos and the rest of the kook fringe.
Alas I won’t have to worry about that because in addition to power they seek to ensnare as many people in the seductive entitlement trap.
The market is a wonderful thing despite the meddling by the Congress the market will ultimately fix all messes created by the same idiots that created it.
|
|
McCain should have said, "And I'll spend another trillion to prevent another 9-11. Healthcare and education don't mean a thing if you're dead".
Of course, then he comes off as a grumpy and hot-headed (at least to libs).
Re: Bailout. Wait till after the bailout becomes law, THEN Obama advisors Raines and Johnson will become household names. |
|
|
why should he, he has been presidential and not sunk to the dems tatics, and he and palin have been attacked with the most vile and disgusting tatics the dems can muster up, and the mainstream news has joined in on the attacks and then dems actually think he should acknoledge this idiot, and that palin should bubble over to the press, I am glad he in=gnored obama, and i hope palin ignores the press, they seem to think we have rules that they write and they have none, yes he trivialized obama, and I for one am glad. |
|
Look further down at my 11:47AM post. I attached one source.
FACT: Obama misrepresented Kissinger---or----outright LIED about it. |
|
In one week the press turns on Obama....
They are realizing the land slide.
Take it to the bank.... |
|
Actually I don't think you can trust any of these polls. It probably depends on which side is better organized with their people calling in. We will know by Monday which way the polls are moving. I definitely don't trust focus groups. Most of these people pretend they are undecided. But fact is: these two candidates are so far apart on their records and policies you'd have to be a moron to be undecided at this point. In my opinion there is only one issue I am interested in. That is National Security. Everything else is mute if we are not safe. |
|
|
Has that business about Kissinger been substantiated? I have not seen it yet. |
|
|
there is so much its impossible to navigate, but just a few, first contrary to the SPIN, what mccain said is you dont tell everyone your going to cross into pakistan, but obama doesnt get it and neither do the dems, you dont do it for two main reasons, first you dont WARN who your after, let them THINK they are safe, and second ,AND why obama is NIEVE , is to give pakistan COVER politically, they can say WE ARE VERY UPSET and tell the us not to do it again, that way they dont have to be attacked by crazies and have denialability , but since obama is so smart, he SHOULD know that.AND mccain isnt going to EXPLAIN it on national tv.You dont TELL you idiots. All the polls and talking points will not help, and the next debate will be what wins this when palin stands up to biden and calls him on his own words about obama, and sticks it too him and then biden blows up and sinks the ticket, after all he is also just a heartbeat away morons. |
|
|
Obama's misrepresentation of Henry Kissinger (especially considering how he PRESSED this issue during the debate), at the very least, should not be ignored. |
|
Boy that is hard to believe that CNN would weight their polls :-).
As a conservative I would like to believe Drudge’s poll. However, what I saw in the debate last night was not the slam dunk that a 68-30 drubbing would indicate. I am concerned that Mr. Bush was and is not a conservative and neither is McCain. John McCain while a fine American is too interested in what his Democrat buddies think of him. His beginning comment about Ted Kennedy is a great example. If the rolls were reversed does anyone believe that any Democrat would speak to McCain’s ill health…they would say see he was too old to run and we can’t have an inexperienced VP candidate blah blah blah.
Conservatism is about freedom and liberty. Liberalism is about victimhood and dependency. |
|
You asked me a question about Kissinger, which I commented about last night.
Indeed, he has repudiated Obama's thrice mentioning of Mr. K's supposedly saying to Mr. Obama that he was in support of meeting with Ackmadwackjob under no-conditions scenario.
Magua, here is Henry Kissingers response:
Henry Kissinger believes Barack Obama misstated his views on diplomacy with US adversaries and is not happy about being mischaracterized. He says: “Senator McCain is right. I would not recommend the next President of the United States engage in talks with Iran at the Presidential level. My views on this issue are entirely compatible with the views of my friend Senator John McCain. We do not agree on everything, but we do agree that any negotiations with Iran must be geared to reality.”

Barak wasn't in the Senate when the vote to go into Iraq was made. This "tough" decision he made in opposition to the war in Iraq was nothing more than Monday morning, armchair quarterbacking.
For a guy who spends so much time thinking about the future utopia which he'll bestow upon all of us bitter clingers, he sure spends a lot of time bashing past decisions that he played no part in.
We're in Iraq what do we do?
McCain- come home with honor and victory. His promise to the mother of a fallen soldier.
Obama- cut and run? Who knows? The Code Pinker who gave BO his bracelet alluded to future conflicts.
Pacifism: The privledge of the protected.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey is not a measurement of the views of all Americans, since only people who watched the debate were questioned and the audience included more Democrats than Republicans. |
|
That was a chop job just like the job done by ABC anal retentive professor Gibson’s. The way they edit and cull comments from these interviews, they could make Jesus’ parables unintelligible.
Let’s wait and see how well the VP candidates do. The networks ought to institute a BS-o-meter when Biden speaks due to his truth deficit disorder. As far his comment “saying Dick Cheney has never been right about anything” is laughable. What has Biden ever been right about…ever. He is the biggest say nothing windbag in the entire history of Washington DC. |

written, so let it be done". This is the left's National Anthem. The be all, end all, of everything. If they say it, then "by G-D", that's just the way it is.
Also, someone on this board, oh, yeah, that's right, it was the "pathetic one" said, "check and mate", concerning obambi's got a bracelet, too, comment. Well, fool, that wasn't check and mate if your talking about obambi, doing the checking and the mating, quite the contrary, bumbling barry obambi had to look at it, to give us the name of the person on the bracelet. This is one of the most embarrassing moments i've ever witnessed at one of these debates. Hey double B, if your going to wear one of those bracelets, at least have the decency to familiarize yourself with the person's name, if it means, anything at all to you, you would know, but of course, we know that it does not, it's only a prop, a political calculation, right double B. And i predict that that gaffe will comeback to haunt, double B obambi. So YES, pathetic, it was a check and mate moment, but as usual, you got it backa$$ward. "So let it be written", and well you know the rest!!
Bumbling Barry Obambi, definitely, NO GRAVITAS, NONE.....and supported by the bumbling pathetic one. |

Here's my favorite. Paul Newmans character in Hud. Obama kinda reminds me of Hud Bannon. And of course McCain was the wise ethical father figure. |

As any review of history shows, appeasement does not work to deter tyrants and pacifism as a foreign policy only invites aggression. Yet, appeasement and pacifism are the essence of Obama's proposed foreign policy.
Obama is an extremely skillful liar and obfuscator, but that won’t make these discredited notions work in the real world. Evidently, it is going to take another Jimmy Carter-type administration to remind people of the truth. |

No More Golden Parachutes for Disgraced CEOs! Except for Those Who Contribute to Schumer and Obama...
For all the chest-pounding by Washington politicians, especially Democrats, about CEOs of failed banks and financial institutions receiving "golden parachutes," why is it these guys all tend to be big bucks Democrat contributors?
Can you say hypocrisy, boys and girls? It's bad enough Barack Obama has the audacity to do this while he's pals with Franklin Raines, who walked away from Fannie Mae with $90 million, but now comes news that the CEO of the failed Washington Mutual bank, Alan Fishman, may walk off with a $13 million package.

Mac better start making these distinctions and fast. |

Only 15 posts so far for you on this single thread; you're slipping. No doubt, you have one of those VHS tapes of an old film running at the same time you are trying to keep up with your post-quota.
The day is young.
Insipid? Let me count the ways.

Imagine that: BarackObama.com head lines: "Obama Wins the Debate"
But of course, Obama said the Surge did "succeed beyond our wildest imagination."
Says a lot doesn't it. If you have very limited experience, you are often surprised.

Why do I think "I think the problem here is a failure to communicate..." when I see some of the commments from liberal posters. And it is not Obama playing the Paul Newman role. |

Au contrare, "Bloviator", your postings have been consistently fever pitched and persistent in flow every week following (August 7th) the emotive, feelings-based, Boomer-Liberal narcissistic declaration you simply had to share with the world.
You have not the capacity to pause from this addiction, er, pathology you suffer from---and you never have. It merely exhibits how much removed from reality you truly are.
(Another week has passed and once again, I won the over/under on your posting counts)
Another Pathetic Liberal.

Pat Lib said: "Barack had been given one of those bracelets as well."
if you didn't see the debate at least look at the youtube clip here. Obama could not remember the name of the soldier's name or the mother who gave him the bracelet. He had to refer to his notes. That was as they say in poker, at tell. |

*One more time, King Ding-a-Ling; mine is the ability to separate sympathies for Mr. Newman and his surviving family, AND, also provide an accurate assessment of the pathetic little life you lead. I know, I know, you are unable to draw distinctions on this level. So be it.

Hillary was right:
"He (Obama) chairs the (Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs) subcommittee on Europe. ... He's held not one substantive hearing to do oversight."
--Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 in a debate in Cleveland
In fact, the Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing on Afghanistan on Jan. 31, 2008, and NATO was a part of the discussion. Obama attended a Democratic debate in California that day.
Obama as the chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee's Subcommittee on European Affairs has jurisdiction of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which has been providing military support to Afghanistan since 2003. |

..and now, as the election grows closer, and when the spirit moves me, I am posting. The key thing to keep in mind, with reference to Psycho CS's obsession with me, is that I am making myself less available to YOUR arguments. For two years, I addressed the questions and arguments of anyone who cared to challenge me. THAT type of activity is definitely scaled back.
I am not up on the social dynamics around here any more, but do even the right-wingers over at Paddy's Pad take ownership of 'Shrieker any more? |

Paul Newman was not only a great actor. He walked the walk by helping his fellow Americans. Every cent he made with his products was donated to charity. My son just called to see if I'm OK. You see I named my son Paul after Newman. I'll be watching Turner Classic this weekend. |

Yeah. Well, at least we'll put our "gaff machine" out in front of the public. Go ahead, ask him questions. Where was Ms. Palin last night? |

...has appeared once again, just prior to his fulfilling of his promise to, "scale back" from further posting on Hugh Hewitt, sadly, because "he has better things to do with his time now".
This is where everyone should be standing and cheering his entirely expected return.
HIS WORDS (below)----NOT ANYONE ELSES-----and fully reflective of his deep need to narcissistically emote the feelings yearning to get out:

Nice to see that you are clairvoyent. Mac made a cheap pathological move--among several--and as it happened, Barack had been given one of those bracelets as well. Check and mate. |

KL,
You need to be concerned because they will need a real hook for the plagiarist blowhard from Scranton, Delaware.
He is a gaff machine without somebody thirty feet from distracting him. He is going to look like the fool EVERYONE knows him to be and the messiah is going to look in the mirror while shaving the next morning...what did I do? |

McCain does not even know the difference between financial and fiscal. He referred to the current problem as a fiscal crisis--as though government spending was job #1 with relation to the credit crunch. That is the problem with conservatism today--it is so full of empty platitudes that it cannot even think straight. |
|
|
After watching the candidate's debate last night, it became apparent that Obama would be better to play the President in a movie, but McCain is the man who can actually do the job. Obama is like a movie set. He looks good, but behind the facade, there's nothing there. When you have no track record, like Obama, all you can do is criticize and attack America ... whereas McCain, who has actually contributed to this country for decades, obviously loves America. I never felt like Obama has sincere pride and love for this country, he just seems to be in this for personal ambition. |
|
|
|
..from the same psycho cloth as your candidate. Btw, CS was taking bows, as I recall, for being an early advocate of Sarah Palin. How is that working out for you guys? She did a great job in the debate post-mortem last night--oh yeah, they had her in lockdown. Can't trust her out in public without her handlers. Might have helped if she had the ability to go out before the media in the aftermath of the debate and press McCain's case. And speaks to the judgment of those who thought she would be a good candidate.

You came to debate here or spew party line. You stepped out for one too many beers during the debate. How about some specifics? |

"It's hard to reach across the aisle from that far to the left".....John McCain
The hard facts are, if you are part of the liberal left that believes that it's the governments responsibility to provide our every need, then Barack Obama won last night because he echoed this basic philosophy. Our friends on the left heard just what they expected.
On the other hand, conservatives also liked what they heard when John McCain pointed out the 900 billion in spending programs Obama intends to implement into his administration is a recipe for economic ruin.
At a time when the taxpayers are being asked to carry the load of the criminal actions by an unregulated financial industry, Senator Obama says he might have to "phase in" his big government programs. When middle American taxpayers go to the polls in November, they will remember that John McCain has consistently promised to put an end to this big government philosophy of run-away spending and the tax increases that must surely follow. |

Paul Newman, a classy man who played well his part. I see him to this day as the young man from Exodus. We'll miss him. |
|
The greatest line in modern presidential debates, "...and you're no Jack Kennedy".
What was Lloyd Benson doing on Jan 20, besides NOT taking the oath of office? |
|
While McCains pathology is well-suited to the wiring of the bozos in here and impresses the stooges in the corporate media, the American independent came away far more impressed with Barack. The numbers are rolling in and America has decided it does not want another impulsive President whose volatility is only matched by the hastiness of his certitudes.
Mac was doddering and confused and angry. Barack was rational and sober and judicious. Barack wins in the public's eyes, if not in the eyes of the emotionally needy saps around here. |

No surprise that you sit in your hovel and watch the same film 500 times (and that's only one example). I never mistook you for one who had a life of any significance. Thanks for affirmation. |

Lileks is spot on again: "Obama reminds onbe not of a President, But a Presidential Press Secretary"
"Self regard pours out of Obama like opera from Pavarotti."
"Obama became more like Al Gore, than the oratorical genius" |

Her name is Tonya Ryman, not "Reinman" as you state and clearly get most every other FACT incorrect. As for "clarity", it pains you immensely that you are able to generate none. Your irrelevance is only eclipsed by your incredible ignorance.

Obama, Jr. did do. The final result however was that Obama, Jr. well impressive left the definite conclusion that he needs seasoning. Presidential potential, but not ready this year. He needs seasoning and maturing. |

Likens had it right: "Obama comes off as a guy who has played a lot of Halo(MS) and Risk(Parker Brothers)." |
|

Very sad news. Paul Newman just died. I know he was a liberal but, he was a great actor. I loved and respected this guy as an entertainer. |

The Henry Kissinger ad is in the can. He has already came out and called Obama a liar. They showed the clip of Kissinger talking about preconditions last night o CNN. Consensus from everyone "Obama lied". |
|
Has some short videos, of the disinterested man-Child tossing flowers on the 9/11 memorial, instead of showing respect, and knelling down and placing the flowers -- and walking past the assembled line of greeters instead of shaking their hands. Behaves just like your disinterested fifth grader behaves when forced to attend similar affairs. Telling .... Totally un-American
Reading from a teleprompter is called acting ... |

A very distinguished gentlemen with good manners, years of tested experience. A man who has been in the international arena for years. A confident non braggadocio leader. The other guy was the junior senator from the disastrous state of Illinois. |
|
No small additions to your list:
5.)Obama's persistent references to Kissinger, claiming that Henry told him personally that he would meet with Iran's leader with no conditions. Indeed, Mr. Kissinger was contacted last night and refuted Obama's comments, declaring that he in fact agreed with John McCain's explanation.
6.)All these elitists and academicians who continually tout Obama's education. Excuse me, do they not teach the distinctions between "strategy" and "tactics"? For Obama to refer to a strategic approach as a tactic is something one would expect from posters on this thread such as, King Ding-a-Ling-a-Liberal, not a Barack Obama. |

you seem so defensive. What a child you are. you sound like my 7 year-old... see, see, see, see, I told you so, I told you so, I told you so, nah, nah, nah.... ugh! Grow up. I am right, and you, my friend, are the true moron.
My point... Barack is an empty suit that has NO leadership ability. |

Let's be real, there was NEVER any chance Hugh would call the debate for Obama. When, in four days, the RCP poll average shows no substantial movement in McCain's direction (or, more likely, movement in Obama's direction), this post will have the durability of a “Dewey Beats Truman” newspaper headline.
Heck, let’s take a look at this prescient piece of political analysis from Hugh’s web site from May 29, 2007 (and there are so many to choose from):
http://hughhewitt.townhall.com/blog/g/1315a5a3-cf2c-4d73-bb 0a-b14c78c6ced3 The general trend of the polls is unmistakable. John McCain’s campaign is sinking like the Titanic after having run into the iceberg of immigration “reform”.. . . . Assuming McCain can’t right the ship, dare he actually face the voters? I say no. . . . So you know what this all adds up to – it’s time for a HughHewitt.com contest! . . . The entrant who comes closest to predicting the date that John McCain officially takes his faltering jalopy of a campaign off the road will win an autographed (and personalized!) copy of “A Mormon in the White House” from the proprietor of this site. Because the McCain Campaign Dead Pool was my idea, I get to make the first selection. I’m choosing Friday, August 31, 2007.

He had to look at the bracelet/teleprompter to get his footing.
Goat, the big issue is Barack is an echo chamber. No leadership! |
|
The only thing less accurate than MSM "independent" post debate polling are the MSM election day exit polls.
Debate takeaways:
1).Obama's "I've got a bracelet too remark." Tacky, forced and pathetic.
2). McCain’s call for freezing spending. Great sound bite. Countered with Obama's we need to spend more.
3). Taxes. Obama is clueless to how the real world works. Not unheard of for a person who's life has been surrounded by community organizers.
4). The smirking, interrupting, and laughing by Obama came across as the arrogant snob he is. This will be reinforced with more debates.

It appears that the pundits and flash polls agree, as the majority of those polls scored it for Obama, including Frank “The Hair” Luntz’s dial polls on *gasp* FOX News (maybe that’s why they don’t have them up on the website). |
|
For Polls against Polls for Polls against Polls, go back and read KL's remarks on Polls. He doesn't have a clue what time it is let alone which Poll will he agree with today. King, if you wanna hear about a real witch hunt? Listen to your own party, they are continually on a witch hunt! |

Animal girl said: "Pakistan when he said that if a world leader needs to be so careful about raising the subject of military action..."
That this common sense idea alludes Obama which show us he would have a lot of on On The Job training ahead. Obama said we have been coddling Musharraf rather than carefully getting as much cooperation as possible short of getting Musharraf killed like Benazir Bhutto. Naivete!

But dont you know Obama got his bracelet from the Pink Lady goons who entertained Ack me Did a Jad. He failed to reveal that. CNN and CBS said Obama won; Fox said McCain won: who are we to believe?
Four years ago, I watched the Bush/Kerry debates; CNN and CBS and MSNBC said Kerry won! Suprise!
McCain did much better last night than Bush did any of his debates; Obama did as well as Kerry. You guys do the math!
I can't wait for Drudge to post the overnights for the debate; bet they are higher than a Fall Friday night debate that Obama had hoped for. |
|
Braclet! Lapel pins! Lipstick!
ANYTHING to keep the American people from concentrating on the real issues at hand. |

Obama's final words will also be remembered: "The US is not good or great anymore." The implication? I am here to save the day.
Next verse same as the first verse!
That is far from the "shining City on a Hill" reprise. |

The most embarrassing moment of the debate. BO's me too moment was telling. How do you forget the name...Let's see if that bracelet is on BO's wrist later on in the campaign. What a gaffe! |
|
"Both a CBS News poll of undecided voters and a CNN poll after the debate gave the win to Obama by double digits - though many analysts said the match was surprisingly even."
If you can't face reality then you can't lead.
|
|
Completely neutralized McCain's (wrong) statement about Pakistan when he said that if a world leader needs to be so careful about raising the subject of military action, they should sing songs about bombing countries.
McCain just can't make the argument that he is more judicious in what he says. And I can't believe people are still attacking Obama's statement, since we are currently going into Pakistan, as Obama said we should. No one seems to be complaining that we are carrying out raids into Pakistan--so how can you criticize Obama for saying we should?
I for one think there's nothing injudicious about letting Al Qaeda know they can't hide from us in Pakistan. |
|
If you are going to wear a bracelet, you need to have that name tatooed in your brain. What a gaffe! If I were that mother, I would be asking for the bracelet back!
This moment in the debate was so bad. I was very embarassed for Barack. "I've got a bracelet too"?? So incredibly childish. That is a counter-punch that hit himself it the groin. |
