"A Funny Thing About Revolutions..."

My new Townhall.com column is posted and reflects on the upheavals within the Democratic Party.
For a sense of the long knives that are coming out of their sheaths, see this DailyKos diary. (HT: Hal.)
It isn't going to be pretty in Denver.
Or in the fall. Though not much remarked upon, Senator Obama's vote against some key provisions of the FISA renewal bill and his opposition to it overall as well as his skipping the final vote was a defining moment for him.
Yesterday, the forces of civilization removed one of the world's worst terrorists, one who been behind the killing of hundreds of Americans including the Marines in Beirut.
Mughniyah was killed because intelligence was gathered and he was found. No intelligence equals vastly more terrorism. Limiting intelligence equals vastly more terrorism.
Obama voted to make intelligence gathering much more difficult this week, and opposed even broadly bipartisan authorizations of intelligence gathering.
This doesn't make him a liberal or a civil rights advocate, but a radical proponent of "see no evil" indifference to the threats in the world.
If Obama was president and presented with good though not perfect intelligence that the next Imad Mughniyah was in our sites, would he authorize the killing?
If he is unwilling to authorize the sorts of intelligence techniques that large bipartisan majorities support, why should anyone assume he'd be willing to approve reliance on intelligence that can never be perfect or guaranteed not to go badly awry?
Senator Obama is part of the left's political elite that believes the U.S. is the problem, and that the U.S. government is not to be trusted to treat its citizens fairly or to use intelligence tools responsibly or act against terrorists prudently.
This is not a small group, and it counts the Speaker in its number, but neither is it close to representing a majority of Americans. (Incredibly, the hard left faction in the House that mirrors the Obama-minded in the Senate are threatening to let the country's intelligence gathering authorities lapse on Sunday because they lack the votes to force the country to only partially blind itself to the activities of our enemies.)
A vote for Obama in November will indeed bring about change: The U.S. will go from hunter to hunted, will go from the offense that has been part of the Bush Administration's policy since 9/11 back to the Clintonian fecklessness that dithered as the enemy nested and metastasized.
With the same results, though with larger disasters and great casualties as a consequence.

Randi Rhodes and company must have really had a blast yesterday with all the killings at NIU. I asked one of my liberal friends one day what he thought the solution to stemming terrorism around the world should be. They say the U.S. is wrong to be in Iraq or anywhere in that part of the world. Isn't it funny how the democrats have become isolationist. So if you don't agree that we should be there to try and bring peace, security, and a democratic way of life. Or some hope that these people can raise and feed their children and families without violence and hate. That the American people are their friends and we all want the same things in this journey of life. The answer I recieved from my friend was: "we (U.S.) just may need to take a a few hits for the sake of world peace". Wake up America. |
|
Wow. I have to agree with lula may. These people are crazy. I truly believe Obama is one of them. I think Hillary stays away from these people and that's why they hate her. The American people do not know just how nutty these people really are. What if Rush were to put something like this on his program. It would be repeated on every news channel. Randi Rhodes is the darling of the left and the Obama crowd. Wake up Republicans and stop being so afraid to put the truth of these loonies out there. |

sternly ordered that Hit done by his newly formed Department of Peace. Islamist Butchers would live in daily fear of it. Osama would quake & quiver.
Jamse: Focus, Focus...Good. Now, will you please share the drugs and the keys to the happy place where you dwelleth? |

Yeah, it's better to have interns sniffing around the president's crotch than the opposing party. What about the 800,000-1,000,000 dead in 100 days in Rwanda while Bill waffled? What about not taking out OBL when he had the chance on a couple of occasions? And Bill's taking the "peace benefit" by gutting the military and national security organizations. The real reason for the Federal government is to protect the citizens. But, there is not enough money in that. They have to build the budget to the point that no one can keep track of what they are siphoning off. |
|
really getting--week by week--further to the nutter-byes Lefty Fringies?? WHEW!
I've studied True Believers most of my life...From Robespierre & St.Just right up through the current Usful Idiots(Lenin's term..)of the Left. Ploddingly predictable. Tiresomely self-worshipping. Eyeballs turned inward, so that they appear zombie like with only the whites showing. There is an Infantile Defiance to them. "No, No, No, NOOOOOO, I won't grow up!"
Churchill was so right. |

That's the essence of the difference between the Demos and the Republicans. The Demo party is a juvenile, wish-based party. If they vote against intelligence, or treasonously leak secrets to the press, why, the terrorists might go away! Hugh has written before something like that "A vote for a Demo is a vote for national insecurity". That is on target. |
|
I mentioned before I sometimes go to the darkside (air america)just to hear what they are thinking. Today I got more than I bargained for. If the RNC could get a tape of this it would be very informative to the American people. This was between 3-4pm central standard time. Every voter should hear what the democrat left are saying. Today being Valentine Day they had a comedy skit. Instead of giving your sweetheart chocolates give them a fear-o-gram. They had a tape of President Bush talking about the dangers of terrorism. Oh we are so scared. We can go home and hide under the covers with our loved ones. The world is coming to an end. Well Randi Rhodes and her crew just thought this was the funniest thing they had ever heard. They are screaming and laughing the terrorist are coming to kill us. Boy they must have been in stitches over 9-11. What a messed up, sick group of people. I'm telling you this clip should be used by the Republicans. |

In the first place, Reeps are hardly the people to talk to America about "consequences." We caught a glimpse of their pronosticative abilities with Iraq. As for 'dithering fecklessness,' perhaps we might have been more prepared for 9/11 if the Reeps spent less time in the 1990s sniffing around the President's crotch, and more time heeding his warning that Osama-style terroism was the #1 threat facing our country. "Hunter to hunted"? Another stupid conceit, as though those are the only strategic options.
We can look for a savvy and cynical political campaign from the Reeps this year. They are good at getting elected, if nothing else. But it is precisely in the area of advancing our strategic interests that the Republicans are indeed "the Stupid party." After seven years of Republican misgovernance, we are weaker than we have been since 1941. |

I criticized Carter because he was the worst President this country ever had. And I voted for him. Never again will I vote for a Democrat for president. The man was and is a total wimp. And this is why Obama will not win. The American people want strong confident leaders. Not wimpy insecure and inexperienced. The game has changed after 9-11. |

The old saw about criminality blends into the reason why I would rather trust the CIA, DIA, NSA to protect my national security than the Church Comm., some of the lefty loon posters here on this forum, Kosites, Moveoners, or any, any Dem leader in the House or Senate. It really is priceless when leftists can never understand real international evil ala the Chi-Coms, the Soviets, Castro et al. Never. It is all Kumbyah with them or utopian nonsense 'can't we all get along' and America is always the cause of global evil err, disturbances. For evil to the Left is not saving the whales but Che, boy howdy, he is a great leader. Oh and the leftists don't remember how they though Mao was 'an agrarian reformer', Lenin just wanted to help out those small farmers when he eliminated 22 million of 'em. The Left never remembers, never apologizes for their international delusions. That is why they hated Reagan. His motto, ' we win, they lose.' Oh my heavens, competition where the good guys win. It is easy to be a liberal since real evil never phases them. And oh yes, lefty loons, Islamofascism is evil and wants to kill even you morons. |

Under colonialism. Less confusion. |

If McCain is Bob Dole. Then Obama is Jimmy Carter. God save us all. I hear the liberals saying President Bush has hurt our image abroad.Please. Do you not remember how bad it was under that crazy socialist liberal Carter. We were the laughing stock of the world. Nothing but wimps to be bullied. Interest rate, gas prices and inflation. We need to get this message out. There are very few Americans that would want to go back to that. Well maybe a few self-hating liberals.
|
|
|
Joe promised that if we supported McCain he was the one who could beat either Hillary or Obama in November. That was less than 2 weeks ago and already McCain loses to Obama in the polls. Come on Joe. You promised. |
|
9-11 was a failure of INS (mostly), Clinton, DIA, and Bush.
The DIA data mining project, Able Danger, identified some of the 9-11 hijackers, including Mohammad Atta. They were identified BEFORE 9-11. Rumesfeld covered it up.
Can any of you "sky is falling" Republicans tell me why Rumesfeld covered up Able Danger? Can you tell me why Republicans allowed Jamie Gorelick to be on the 9-11 commission rather than being questioned by said commission?
I admit being fooled once. I compromised my principles and voted for Bush in '04 because I believed the lie. I know what Einstein said about insanity and I've taken it to heart. McCain will have to come up with a better excuse than a "War on Terror" to convince me to pull the chain for him. |
|
This the same Hugh Hewitt who blasted Barack Obama incessantly for saying he would order an attack on Osama Bin Laden if he was found in Pakistan?
Shorter Hugh Hewitt: When Republicans assassinate bad guys it is good. When Democrats propose to assassinate bad guys, they lack the experience, judgment and gravitas to serve as President.
Priceless.

Here's how Monica Lewinsky's ex-boyfriend handled intelligence on Mugniyah. I have not seen this story regurgitated, least of all by CBS News.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/05/01/60II/main507784.s html
This story begins:
"In the Persian Gulf, in late July 1996, American warships, a full complement of military hardware, and nearly 4,000 Marines, sailors and SEALs, were praying they could pull off the mission of their lives. They had been assigned to grab the man, who before September 11th, had killed more Americans than any other terrorist.
His name is Imad Mugniyah, and U.S. intelligence believed they had tracked him to the waters of the Persian Gulf, aboard a merchant ship, the Ibn Tufail."
At the last possible minute, the mission was scrubbed. Why? No decent reason is provided. Just doubt about what they did know. Paralysing doubt. We can look forward to lots more paralysing doubt. |

again! If we send hugs, blow kisses and assure the scumbags of the world that our hearts are pure, then--By God--they'll be cuddly little butchers and stay cave bound. That about it??
We did that, Briggsy. It was called the Clinton Years. It payed off Bigtime on 9-11-01. (*And, please spare me the "Boosh's Watch" nonsense.*)
Have you met the new Lib-Left Troll, Polderboy-Yo? He's polluting HH with some really Heartfelt Warms for the Dark Age Sewage material. Talk..Network..Hug...Be Happy. |

"I suspect the latter."
Me too. The US is no longer "the home of the brave", it has become "the home of the pansies".
When those camels you mentioned earlier merely break wind, the Us raises the terror alert to purple. |
|
Mughniyah was killed in Syria, not the US. If FISA was used to discover his location, and the info was then ostensibily passed to Israel, then that means we have Muslim "fundamentalists" in the US.
Why? Are they "home grown"? Did they immigrated legally or did they slip over the border? Or is Hugh just trying to link two unrelated events (FISA and the death of Mughniyah) in order to scare us into voting for McCain?
I suspect the latter. |
|
THe Bush admin has worked to see this terrorist killed in Damascus and the McCain admin will continue that tradition. While we see the next day Obama sending the Carter administration national security advisor "Zbig" out to "talk things over in the middle east".
http://www.nysun.com/article/71123
Ah, the Carter Administration, Helping make the world safe for Jihad not once, but a second time around. |
|
Fundamental Truth: Not all Muslims are terrorists but nearly all terrorists are Muslim.
If Islamic...ahem, "fundamentalism", is such a threat, we'd have revoked visa's of people from mostly-Muslim countries, placed a moritorium on immigration from mostly-Muslim countries, and secured our borders and ports. NONE of that has happened. Quite the opposite.
Instead, we go into massive debt fighting 7th Century camel jockeys and we spy on citizens without warrants. It's stupid, unless Bush fancies himself a modern-day Pope Urban.
War on terror? Yeah. Right. |
|
Just imagine what would have happened when Clinton had called for warrantless spying on Americans in the 90's. Just imagine what will happen when a Democrat moves in the WH next year and warrantless spying on Americans is still in effect. |

The GOP/RNC decided McCain would be the one to beat Obama. The Stupid Party indeed. |
|
could be more fun than you think.
The governor of Colorado, Democrat Bill Ritter, his political staff, and his buddies in the Denver DA's office (where he used to work) are prosecuting an ICE agent, Cory Voorhis, for blowing the whistle on Ritter for letting illegal alien criminals plea bargain down to "Tresspassing on Agrcultural Land" charges. One of these illegals was busted for dealing heroin later raped a 14 year old girl in San Fransico.
Voorhis is the ICE agent who, almost single-handedly, brought down the Castaranas crime family. They ran the largest document counterfeiting ring ever busted in the US. The head of the crime family in in Mexico waiting extradition to the US. Voorhis' prosecution, by US Attorneys out of Wyoming, jeopardizes this case.
So far, employees in the Denver DA's office as well as political operatives for Gov. Ritter have been hauled into court twice by Voorhis attorney. The stories they told the court regarding the Voorhis prosecution are laughable. There is a very good chance that a Grand Jury will be empaneled to get to the bottom of the matter. If we are lucky, this will happen during the Dems convention.
Hugh, you had the GOP nominee Bob Beauprez on your program talking about the Ag tresspass plea deals by Ritter just days before the election in '06. Check it out. |
