Hillary - withdraw from Iraq by next November 2009. McCain - stay and defeat the jihadists, finish what we started.
Hillary - universal health-care. McCain - let the market work by extending tax-credits.
Hillary - abortion is a fundamental right. McCain - protect those in the womb that cannot protect themselves.
Those are big differences. If you are thinking of sitting out the upcoming election because you cannot support McCain, please remember this above all else - if Hillary wins in November, we will be out of Iraq by next November. Is campaign-finance and immigration worth allowing that to happen? |

In other words, Mitt lost and he lost big. The voters of FL have spoken and rejected Mitt and Hugh and Rush and no one cares what talk radio thinks because no one cares.
Notice no words of congratulations to McCain, just the same old vitriol from Hugh. |
|
I won't vote for McCain if he gets the nod.
I'd rather stay home in November to make a statement to the GOP. We don't win elections by nominating a half-conservative-half-liberal such as McCain.
I thought the GOP learned this lesson back in 2006, but I could be wrong.
Go Mitt...Once this becomes a 2-man race, you will get the "anybody but McCain" vote and I suspect it is more than 50% of the GOP. |
|
I love the way Hewitt ignores all his inaccurate predictions.
Didn't he tell us that Romney would win because Florida was a closed primary?
Didn't he tell us on Friday that McCain had a "horrible bad day"? Well, hmmmm, I guess McCain recovered.
Didn't Hugh tell us McCain was "desperate"?
Hugh, your credibility is long gone. No one takes your predictions seriously.
It's over. Totally 100% over. Your guy lost. McCain is the nominee. Deal with it. |

Press one for English and two for Spanish McShamnesty.
|

|
I don't mean to rub it in, but your delegate count is a wee bit off. |
|
This wasn't supposed to happen right? The "center-right" was rejecting McCain, right? This was the closed primary that would show McCain has no appeal to the Republican base, right?
Apparently, some Republicans are more Republican than others. Now the key to the nomination is the "conservative and very conservative voters" who allegedly supported Romney "by significant margins." (Although, this should be checked. We've been told things about exit polls here before that turned out to be wishful thinking.) Do you really think a faction within a minority party is who to consult for who will win in November?
Here's a question: Does anyone think it matters that this vote happening the day after SOTU? The most memorable elements of that speech were the war and terrorism passages.
There are lots of conservative issues. Perhaps the most important conservative issue, to conservatives, is the war. Absent the war, I would agree, McCain's candidacy would not be viable. But facts being what they are, apparently conservatives either feel McCain can beat the Democratic candidate and/or would be a better commander-in-chief than Romney.
Deal with it. |
|
You're kidding right? Sorry SK - 2008, but I have to tell ya, EVERY conservative I talked to tonight says that if Mccain is the Republican nominee...we're sitting it out.
What's the difference between a socially liberal Mccain who takes every pleasure in "confronting" conservatives, who has shown a demonstrable dislike and distrust of conservatives everywhere, and who has clearly looked to place himself above principle time and again.
I cannot and will not aid in the effort to seat a Republican version of Hillary-lite...
good luck with your party |
|
Hugh's headline is its a two man race. He has been telling us for months its a two man race - but between Mitt and Rudy. Now John comes out of nowhere and wins big time.
Hugh must be the world's all time worst political prognosticator. He has lost all credibility on this one. Harriet Myers was not a fluke.
|
|
Stay home in November so that Hillary or Barack get to appoint the new Supreme Court justices to replace certain-retirees Stevens and Ginsberg and all the other federal judges. We would lose the Supreme Court for a generation. And that means liberal judges with their liberal agenda- soft on terror, overruling the Patriot Act, barring phone taps of terrorists, forcing abortion-on-demand, and affirmative action and all the rest. Look at McCain's record on judges- forcefully supporting Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Bork. Now think about what kind of judges Obama or Clinton would support. I have my own concerns about McCain, but I know for sure I would rather have him in office than some nut-job liberal.

|
Certain conservative opinion makers are not pleased.
Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, much of the roster at the National Review and many (but certainly not all) of their more conservative talk radio and blogger colleagues are beside themselves at the prospect that one of the Republican contenders they deemed to be “not conservative” might be nominated. As Mike Huckabee won Iowa, John McCain took South Carolina and Fred Thompson bestirred himself to draft a note withdrawing from the race, the fretting has intensified. How could the voters reject their advice?

NBC is reporting Rudy will endorse McCain tomorrow.
What is wrong with Rudy, doesn't he know Hugh says Mitt is the only real conservative? Doesn't Rudy take his marching orders from Rush and Hugh? |
|
As a true conservative (not a Republican!!!), I can tell you that there's no way in hell I'll vote for McCain. Guess you're more Republican than I am...either way, Deal with it...
|
|
|
I doubt Giuliani will stay in it but I sure hope he does. I absolutely love the interviews I've heard on your show. Get him on tomorrow for comment before the debate. He was the only whimsical cheerful candidate. And his economic plan was awesome. Wits and charisma, so why no votes? |

Forget Hugh or Sean or Rush now. They do their jobs and that is that. Now we who are Pubs, I have been since 1960, have to decide in our varied states if the anybodybutjohn crowd becomes Mitt and if he can win in Nov. If conservspurists stay at home, Hil or the Empty Suit win. Perhaps that is how is should be. But, by Nov., will the Party think that? Will Independents? Will Reagan Dems? Will some Hispanics who went for St.John tonight think that? Feb. 5 will be interesting to see if Pubs will vote for McCain in all those 22 states or whether Mitt actually will grab them off. If McCain wins a lot of those states with just Pub voters, something is happening that many of us conservatives will have to deal with as that crunch finally becomes reality. McCain or the socialist pacifists in the Dem Party. We shall see if McCain now draws very very close to the Reagan mantle. I bet he does. Will it be believable? Who knows? Frankly, Hugh, Sean and Rush, though I love them , may simply not matter if more and more Pubs and Dems decide that John is better than the socialists and losers from the other Party. |
|
you beat me to it. How fast would that delegate count change if Romney won?
Jiggler - never in history has Hewitt admitted a bad prediction. He did admit he was wrong about Brian Williams supposed anti Mormon question. I sit in wonder and amazement when the Hughnots come on here and state that he is always right and wise when the exact opposite is true. Hugh is the kiss of death ! Hey Hugh embrace Al Queda wont ya !!!
VoiceofReason, Richard_223 -this is a warm fire tonight and the next few days of spin and denial will be hilarious and entertaining.
Mittbots -keep your chins up, but realize this is a death blow. It might be better to lose this round and have the potential for Mitt to reinvent himself and help the world in other ways

The next phase (this next week) will be lively.
Nobody has been bored with this campaign so far...
Watch Mitt. He's a quick study.
He's learned quickly in these previous races and is being taught by some of the best, most experienced politicians in the world.
Tomorrow's debate will keep you on the edge of you seat. Mitt's answers will be complete and accurate, something not typical of his opponents who opt for sound bites.
His political processing and campaigning is honing him into a very strong candidate.
At first he had the demeanor of a college professor or polite businessman, and people said he didn't have enough fire in the belly to suit them. Now we all know he has fire in the belly plus a ton of brains in his head - and can match and best any candidate.
What we will see now is his savvy problem-solving skills play out in the world of politics. He will out think, out work, out campaign all his opponents until they finally say "uncle."
And the American people will be laughing with Mitt as he proves his mettle. This man has guts, brains, humor, style, experience, courage, and a devoted grassroots team of which I am one.
GO MITT! |
|
Yep, you heard it here first. Some of the bleeding hearts commenting above are DK Trolls shilling for McCain. One can almost hear them braying like the Donkeys they truly are!
McCain's military record is beyond reproach IMHO!
But, as a politician, McCain is a RINO, ie.) his McCain Feingold act, his Immigration Shamnesty proposal, his bloc of 14 power grab regarding judicial nominations, all show me that he'll do anything to accrue power. He'd be better than either Hillbill or Obama and perhaps that's saying a lot. But, Senator Johnny Mac is not a conservative.

Hugh seems to think that relative to McCain Romney has some kind of youthful energy and charisma that would let him match up well in a war of images with Obama. But Romney is the stiffest, most-wooden, uncharismatic candidate since Al Gore, and it would be an embarrassment to see him on a stage with Obama.
You're not going to beat Obama on his own turf. You can't out-Obama Obama. The best counter to Obama's "uplifting rhetoric" is to reveal its hollowness by setting him up next to a man of gravity and substance. I agree that Romney is a man of gravity and substance too, but he just doesn't have McCain's life story and ability to connect emotionally with an audience. It would be nice if he did, but he just doesn't. Would I rather have Romney as President than McCain? Yes. But Romney CAN NOT WIN because he DOES NOT connect with living, breathing human beings in the same way as other candidates. |
|
Big loss for Conservatives tonight.
Congratulations to the McCain campaign.
Let me tell you, on several Political Message Boards, LIBERALS are cheering.
They are acting as if this is the same as the 2006 Democrat Win after those elections.
McCain won with lies, which makes it even worse.
Hard to imagine Romney can compete after this.
And we are going to have the OLDEST candidate of all time, a Senator of 24 Years, who opposed tax cuts...
No wonder Liberals are excited.
A real disaster, as on the same boards, many conservatives are talking about abandoning the GOP.
what a shock...
McCain even opposes WATERBOARDING!
this is a huge blow to conservatives...
The finest Mr. Romney is a worthy choice, but it seems those who favor amnesty gave McCain the nod tonight.
Sinking ship of Conservatives, looking at Senate race, with only liberals in the General... |

|
Please do not do it. Such bias is no different than attacking Catholics and Jews for their faith. Cut it out. |
|
This is just awful. If the McChurian candidate wins the White House it is the death of the Goldwater/Reagan conservative movement.
If McAmnesty is the nominee, I don't think I will vote for him.
Yes, I realize that is a vote for Hillary/Obama who are even worse than McCain.
Think big picture. If McCain goes down to spectacular defeat (which he certainly will) the conservatives are back in charge of the GOP. The McCains, Specters, Snowes, Collins, Chaffee wing of the party is marginalized and people like Newt and DeLay will call the shots.
Either Hillary or Obama would be a spectacular failure as President and would be a one-term President. In 2012 we can easily noominate a real conservative who will govern like Reagan.
You take one step back and two steps forward. You sacrifice one election to have two good ones.
In 1976, we had a great choice for the nomination (REagan) and a party hack (Ford). We chose wrong and got Jimmy Carter (the worst president of my lifetime). Jimmy Carter led to Ronald Reagan.
If Ford had won in 1976, Reagan would probably never have been President. In 1980 the nominee would have been someone like Bob Dole or Howard Baker. Isn't Reagan better?
I will not vote for McCain in November because I want his loss to be of such enormous proportion that the moderates and liberals within the GOP will be silenced and the conservatives get to nominate the 2012 candidate who will easily beat Hillary/Obama because they will both be Jimmy Carter or even worse presidents.
However, none of this has to happen if we wake the hell up to the fact that other than Iraq, McCain is a LIBERAL.
Harry Reid is pro-life. I agree with him on this issue as do most of you. Everything else, he is a LIBERAL. McCain is far far closer to Harry Reid than Mitt Romney. |
|
in honor of the exteremly conservative (until he isn't again) Mr. McCain
Take your pencil conservatives and write
MIC - See ya later freedom KEY - Hope you have your charter from the Florida Keys scheduled already
MOUSE!!!
MICKEY MOUSE for President in 2008! |

were crazy. But no, now Hugh says "Huck's voters are conservative or very conservative." Well duh, I could have told him that.
I find it fascinating that Zogby is the one pollster who consistently gets the smallest margins of error and the one pollster whom Hugh mentions least. |
|
Hugh,
I'll give you credit for being optimistic but with the conservative vote being split between Huckabee and Romney and some to Guliani it's over. Especially if Guliani endorses McCain. If McCain wins this will be the first time in my lifetime I won't vote for the Republican. I'm definitely not voting for the Democrat. My only hope is for a great 3rd party candidate, one that could actually win! This crop of candidates stinks! As much as you don't like to hear it and I'm for Romney, if he was a Baptist he would have no problem winning with his views. |
|
Are you actually a republican? We're not bigots!
Go spew your hatefullness on a dem blog....they'll welcome you. |
|
"Tomorrow's debate will keep you on the edge of you seat. Mitt's answers will be complete and accurate, something not typical of his opponents who opt for sound bites."
I'm always glued to the edge of my seat when Mitt speaks. I can't wait to hear his next ridiculous pander or flip-flop.
|
|
I like Mike (Huckabee), supported him early, shifted to McCain (even though I still like Mike).
Romney however, has zero appeal to me. I tell you this as a former Huck dude. I switched from Huck to Mac -- not Romney. Won't even consider it when I vote in March.
One more thing -- McCain ain't Dole, because:
We weren't at war when Dole ran.
Dole had zero appeal to independents.
Rush loved Dole.
Democrats had no fear of Dole; they fear McCain.
Dole lost.
McCain will win. |
|
I think tonight's win for John is also a defeat for talk radio, they are like Oz blustering in the mike, only threatening and effective if folks do not see them for the sham they are.
Rush, Hugh, and Levin have not been listened to, and the bile underneath the 'entertainment' is exposed.
|

The lesser of two evils is still too evil. While I thank the Senator for his service in the military, he has been flipping off conservatives for too long to think that he has a shot at more than half our votes in November. Like many on this forum, just about every conservative I know also has said that McCain will NEVER get their vote. NEVER. EVER. EOS! |
|
|
To McCain and his supporters. There are many states left to go. It's a long way from over.. |
|
....you are helping to ensure that Al Qaeda wins in Iraq. Very principled.
Thus far over 4,000 soldiers lives have been sacrificed to ensure we do not leave a failed state in the middle of the Middle East. Because you do not like McCain, you are going to help elect Hillary Clinton. Moments ago she was asked by Wolf Blitzer what her first act on day one in the Oval Office would be. Do you know what she said? She said she would gather her Joint Chief's of Staff so that they can devise a plan within 60 days that will allow us to begin withdrawing from Iraq. You REALLY want to enable that?
McCain is not prepared to waste the sacrifice our soldiers have made. Big difference. Huge difference. How can anyone deny that? |
|
|
For conservatives who want to win the WH in November. Whether you like McCain or not, he is a conservative, and he is the best chance we have to win the general election. I'm sure that I'm inviting attacks with those comments, but I believe everything I wrote. |

Under no circumstances can I vote for McCain. He is an enemy to conservatism and will day by day take us down a dark road. Additionally, Republicans will loose what chance remains to retake congress. My top 5 reasons:
1. Gang of fourteen 2. McCain-Kennedy 3. Bush Tax-Cuts 4. ANWAR 5. McCain-Feingold
McCain is not 80% our ally. Say what you will, but sometimes taking a step backward to allow your official enemy to hang themselves, can lead to leaps forward and the net gain will be much greater than a misstep forward with McCain.

"Think big picture. If McCain goes down to spectacular defeat (which he certainly will) the conservatives are back in charge of the GOP. The McCains, Specters, Snowes, Collins, Chaffee wing of the party is marginalized and people like Newt and DeLay will call the shots."
The idea that McCain is going to go down in spectacular defeat in the general election is untethered from reality. I'm no McCain supporter, but aside from Giuliani he's the one GOP candidate who legitimately has a prayer of "expanding the map", winning purple states, and putting light-blue states in play.
As for the rest of your screed, I think it's fascinating that you'd rather be "in charge" of a rump minority with negligible political power on the national level, with sacks of corrupt crap like Tom Delay "calling the shots", than have a president who while he doesn't agree with you on everything, is far and away better than the Democrats to judge by his lifetime and most recent ACU ratings.

Well now! The ayatollahs of conservatisim issued a fatwa for John McCain because he was an apostate -- and it failed! Not even a 10 to 1 spending advantage could saved the blow-dried phony with his focus-group tested PowerPoints.
MCCAIN RULES!!!!!!!!!!!

I will no longer be a part of the republician party.Democrat lite.I no longer have a voice in our new political system.Pandering to illegals. Our country is lost.Very sad night an coming days for america.Rule of law no longer matters.Adios america. |

I'll quote
"Mormonism defeated!!!!....Let's keep the slander going,[sic] we'll win."
Now, that was a very nice, American comment.
Strange to admit that he is slandering and wants everyone to keep slandering going!
What happened to honesty, Yani? |

Does Hugh even know how to tie his own shoes? Romney lost. Most people can see he is a liberal, whiny, cry baby. I don't see why he gets such support from conservative talking heads and papers. If those same had told the truth Romney would have been out of it long ago, but some people just believe what they are told by the "experts." Hugh is no expert. He proves that over and over. |
|
Wrong SK. McCain and Clinton are closer to two peas in a pod than "Big differences". Closing Gitmo, banning waterboarding, etc will have a bigger impact on homeland security than Iraq. And Hillary's claim to pull-out of Iraq immediately is pandering to the dem base just like McCain's turnabout on enforcement first is pandering to the repub base. Neither position is credible.
Also, if McCain is so pro-life, then why did he file brief against pro-lifers in Wisconsin. Further, McCain is not free-market. Remember tax-cuts, oil revenues, carbon caps and fees. So he gets it on the war. So do a few democrats in Congress. I would not vote for them either.
If McCain is the nominee and Mel Martinez was the RNC chair last year, I'm thinking it is time to for a new party. If the party wants to go to hell in a handbasket, don't expect me to pedal.
Republicans need to be true to the vision of conservatism or else they will become irrelevant very quickly. |
|
At some point the Hugh's and Rush's will overstep their own pretentious power. When they do this, they will become absolete. I don't always agree with the far-far-right talkers, but they serve a valuable purpose in the GOP. They counter the nuts on the left. If you keep focusing all your attacks on a more moderate conservative, you will ultimately talk yourself out of a job. Take a step back and re-think it. |

It looks like the winner of California will win this nomination on the Republican side. Its a two man race betwen Romney and Mc Cain. California will send a big message to the rest of the country on Super Duper Tuesday. And its likely that whoever wins California will be declared the winner of Super Duper Tuesday. Eventhough Romney lost in Florida, I like the exit poll numbers because Romney was able to carry the conservative vote by so much. California Republicans are pretty conservative on economics and this bodes well for Romney. His stance on immigration will also help him. In order to win California next Tuesday, it is important that Romney win the debate tomorrow night against Mc Cain. But Mitt has outdueled Mc Cain in all but one of the debates thus far. This race is not over. A Rudy endorsement of Mc Cain won't carry that much weight. People like Dennis Prager will switch over from Rudy to Mitt in a heartbeat. Congrats to Mc cain on the Florida win. But this race has just begun baby! |
|
Has an awful lot of 'splainin' to do if he hopes to keep voters from the right in the house.
I'm not really sure how he convinces me that he has changed on border security with a Mexican national on staff as head of hispanic outreach and the one man who most profits by having spanish only speakers in the country watching his cable channel as his finance chair.
He has a lot of history to overcome. Seriously more than changing a position or two to run for office.
However, I do look forward to the day when he names one of his center/left buddies as VP candidate and Huckabee and the Evangelicals realize that they were played for saps...just like always.
It will be interesting to see if he seriouly woos us...until then, I still plan to vote for Mitt here next Tuesday. I will do my part. |
|
A week ago I would have gladly congratulated McCain on his victory and voted for him, begrudgingly, if he became the nominee. No ill will, no sour grapes.
But after his cheap and shameless 11th hour blatant lie about Romney's position on Iraq (not to mention the MSM's complete glossing over it), I've lost all respect for the man. He will not get my vote. Period.
Dirty tricks in politics work. Thanks for reminding us of that this week, John McClinton. Er, McCain. |
|
|
A choice between McCain and a Democrat in November. Even if McCain manages to win the General Election, he will be a domestic disaster who cares more about playing footsies with his old buds in the Senate rather than leading a conservative majority. If McCain is the nominee, I will not contribute one dime to him unless he issues a groveling apology for McCain-Feingold, voting against tax cuts, for the gang of 14 and amnesty. But he won't do it. He will interpret the nomination as total vindication of everything he has ever done. God's judgement is upon us. |
|
|
Huck is doing the right thing for himself. He can strip votes from Romney setting himself up for veep. I think slingblade already has that spot , but we will see. Rudy will help McCain big in the northeast. So it looks like Gramps and Slingblade vs Hillary and Obama. Good luck with that one Pubbies... |
|
Sorry - its the principle. McCain represents the hijacking of the GOP...the giving up ground to the left.
As much as I'd hate to see Hillary or Barack win the presidency...I'd rather the whitehouse go to the Dem's than have it go to a left-leaning GOP. If the Dem's win, then the GOP learns its lesson, regroups, and moves back toward the right for next time.
Unfortunately I am not speaking for only myself, but millions of conservatives whom McCain has pissed off one too many times.
McCain - you can win this election on your own...maybe the illegals will help you out. |
|
It's NOT a matter of taking my ball and going home (if "my guy" doesn't win), it's about NOT rewarding someone who is a TRAITOR to the Republican Party (and to Conservatism).
If it comes down to Juan McCain versus Clinton and/or Obama, I will simply not vote for POTUS.
If McCain were to be elected, he would take it as a MANDATE to implement his policies (like amnesty for everyone) - and I WILL NOT participate in that travesty.
YES, I am willing to allow Clinton and/or Obama to appoint the next round of Supreme Court justices to continue telling the elected Republicans that their current path (of NOT being Conservatives) is the WRONG path.
Besides, can you honestly say that you BELIEVE that McCain will appoint CONSERVATIVE justices? Based on WHAT evidence (his "Gang of 14", his McCain-Feingold, his McCain-Kennedy, his opposition to tax cuts)? Yup, that gives me nothing but confidence in McCain. |
|
admit it. I don't think McCain can beat Obama, barring unforseen BAD NEWS from al Qaeda, and I refuse to hope for that. And, I'm constitutionally incapable of wishing any good whatsoever for the Clintons--ie-the nomination. It's possible that he could beat The Clintons, though I think they'll keep his Rage Flaming and make him look like a lunatic--and beat him as "the lesser of 2-evils."
I keep thinking--like the classic megalomaniac--WHY don't they see what seems so clear to me about this guy?! Well, enough Self-Pity for one evening. Global Warming Idiocy, Border Insanity, Gitmo Closing...Jeepers, what a diff from the Dems. |
|
McCain/Feingold - incumbent protection act McCain/Kennedy - sweeping amnesty McCain/Lieberman - wtf? McCain/ACLU - giving enemy combatants constitutional rights, wants to close Gitmo and bring them here in a prison system already converting inmates to jihad.
Against the tax cuts, said they were only for the rich, but come 2010, when they expire, mine and every other person from working poor to middle class and rich, taxes will go up...the marriage penalty is coming back full force, taxes will go up on each kid, and the dirty gits will take a larger share on any land or house you sell at a profit.
And if you think the above is all well and good then you want to get your diapers changed by the democrat party. Having someone live your life is better than being responsible for anything.
|
|
I will support McCain although he was about my fourth choice.
I put much of the blame for McCain's ascendancy on all the country club Republican talking heads who used their influence to build up Romney, a candidate who has all the charismatic appeal of a wheelbarrow full of rocks. With their influence and Romney's money, they were able to keep his candidacy on life support just long enough to drive votes away from Fred Thompson and Rudy Guliani, two candidates who, like McCain, actually inspire sentient human beings to support them. So now we get McCain, and frankly, it could be a lot worse. Romney, for example, would have been a lot worse.
|

From RealClearPolitics:
9:10PM - A Mitt Romney spokesman tells RCP that the campaign has still not made a decision about television advertising in February 5 states. With six days to go until polls open, isn't that something he ought to take care of? We wonder, how damaging is a Florida loss to Romney? Has Romney held off on investing more in his campaign because he's re-evaluating, like he did before his Michigan win, and wondering whether the campaign is still worth it? - REID WILSON |
|
|
The last minute revelation that McCain might once have said something mean about Alito didn't work, even though it cut to the heart of conservative values? Hahahahaha! |

The silk exterior is punctured. The helium and hot air is in flames.
Mitt the Mask is going down!
Later Days, Romney!

Again.
Seriously, can anyone name 2 things that Hugh has gotten right in this campaign season. It was fascinating to hear Hugh tonight backtracking on the importance of the delegate count and the McCain win. In the span of 5 minutes on his radio show, Hugh was wrong about the margin of victory, the impact of the Crist endorsement, the claim that conservatives would not vote for McCain, contended that the contest was so close that no winner would be determined tonight and possibly not before Super Tuesday and actually told one of his callers that he was "hallucinating" if he thought Guliani would endorse McCain.
Seriously, why does anyone put stock in anything Hugh says?
|
|
Here's whats really interesting here...
1.McCain wins the closed primary in florida, which means that only republicans can vote. The "conservatives" by the exit polling voted for Romney.
Can you say "irrelevant?"
I also wholeheartedly agree with S
|
|
Mitt is the only true conservative... he's the man. His optimistic goals for our country's future is a breath of fresh air! His economic plan is outstanding & he will fight the Jihadists! He's the complete package!
Advesories cut him down for petty reasons ie...his Mormon faith, good looks, $.
There are real reasons to go against McCain...McCain (FOOT SOLDIER for Reagan...HAHAHA) cannot win on HIS record. He's the most LIBERAL Republican on the ballot...(he has aligned himself with too many liberal issues ie...Gang of 14, remember McCain/Feingold?, defected with Ted Kennedy on education, plus disapproved of Bush's tax cuts, & weak on immigration.)
He's too bombastic to be President. He SUCKER PUNCHED Romney yesterday w/ his DECEITFUL accusations about timelines & robo- calling...he's a lib all the way, even running a Clintonesque campaign.
The FOOT SOLDIER'S jealousy of Romney is crystal clear. Is it because Romney's a Mormon or is it because Romney's been successful, maybe because Romney's exposed his failures & makes him accountable, or a combo of all??
EVERYONE who CORRELATES MITT & $ IS 100% JEALOUS! True conservative Republicans consider the candidates record & goals for our country's future...not petty issues like good looks & $...One should not take anyone w/ these views seriously, but should realize that those w/ these views are lacking a few brain cells!
McCain is an UNTRUSTWORTHY UNRELIABLE "FOOT SOLDIER" REPUBLICAN TRAITOR who would disappoint Ronald Reagan with his liberal record and liberal goals for our country. He's a pseudo-Republican...as the old saying goes "a wolf hiding in sheeps clothing"...McCain's "a liberal hiding in the conservative party" |
|
The conservative movement is in huge trouble. While John McCain is on the right regarding many things, his betrayals on free speech and immigration and the judiciary, among other issues, as well as his problematic relationship with conservatives and his cozy relationships with liberals, make his ascent to solid frontrunner status deeply problematic.
Since 1964, the Republican Party has been the vehicle for American conservatism. The looming nomination of John McCain puts that in serious jeopardy. But where can conservatives GO?
|
|
tell all these horrible posters they are wrong. Tell them years of kissing Hugh's rear end means something - that he will make it alright for ROmney supporters on super tuesday..these horrible horrible McCain lovers.
How dare they insult Hugh and other Romney supporters..he will make it alright, i know it..please tell them..your moist lips demand it! |

Mitt is smart enough to realize that continuing to spend a massive amount of his own wealth is probably going to be for naught. He is going to continue a vigorous campaign, but I think the days of lavish expenditures are over. |
|
McCain wins among those who think the economy is the most important issue? Wow.. Tough night for Mitt.
Finally, McCain spanked Romney in the Catholic Vote by a slightly wider margin than he won Florida. Don't underestimate this...
Sounds like a coalition to me...
Go Mac! |
|
After the whining is done, it will be worthwhile to analyze the results just a bit. Hugh, of course, is wrong about the conservative and very conservative votes. Romney only received a rather weak plurality of those votes; in total, other candidates received a majority.
But more telling for electoral vote purposes: Romney was massacred among Hispanics and non-white Catholics. Those results are reflected in the totals from M-D and Broward counties. Romney only ran well in SW Florida and the Jacksonville metro area. Surprisinly, he did rather poorly in the I-4 corridor, Orlando and he was no great shakes even in the conservative panhandle.
Which makes me wonder, where exactly are these masses of conservative voters will not vote unless Romney is the nominee? They apparently do not live in Florida. |
|
|
We don't vote until March 3rd but our great State will go for MITT! I am more committed than ever to help him win. I didn't think there would still be a contest but looks like nothing will be settled by March 3rd. McCain won't get close to conservatives. He says he won conservatives in Florida by lying, and stubbornly sticking to his "maverick" (i.e., liberal) views. Republicans who reward him with their votes are only making it LESS likely that he would campaign as a conservative, let alone govern as one. |
|
|
Hugh actually said someone was "hallucinating" if he thought Guiliani would endorse McCain? LOL - looks like that crystal ball that Hugh looks into has a crack in it the size of the grand canyon. |
|
I know where conservatives can GO....vote for Romney. Tell your friends to vote for Romney and remind everyone why McCain is wrong for the party !
Dick Morris just said on Fox that the Republican electorate is moving to the left....does anyone actually believe this? I don't and we need to show America that the "right" way is Romney! |
|
dead. Maybe his wife will talk some reason into him. Heard she's getting disgusted with all the personal fortune he's blowing.
Is Hewitt wearing a clown hat yet? |
|
Please do NOT stay home. You must vote. You do not have to vote for Hillybama or McAmnesty. There are always other parties and people on the ballot. You could write in Joe Oliva. The important votes are for House and Senate seats. Conservatives MUST win seats in the House. The House is where things get done. It was the passage of H.R. 4437 in Dec.05 that sparked the illegal alien protest marches and moved this issue to the front burner. It was the Senate that tried to jam amnesty down our throats. The D's that won seats in '06 were conservatives running on enforcement platforms. One of them, Heath Shuler D-NC, introduced the SAVE Act. Call, e-mail, or write your Congressman and urge support of this legislation. Enforcement is what Americans want, not amnesty.
I don't think Hillary is stupid enough to step in front of this bus. McCain is. |
|
Don't let the talk radio jockeys tell you that McCain betrayed conservatism in the Gang of 14. That was a purely tactical disagreement between the arch conservatives who wanted a vote on the "nuclear" option in order to break a filibuster on Bush's judicial nominees. The nuclear option was to change the rules of the Senate to get rid of the filibuster. At the time, republicans had a majority in the house, senate, and the presidency. McCain and the gang of 14 struck a compromise. The rules of the senate were to remain and Roberts, Alito, and three other nominees were to be confirmed.
Now, here we are, the potential of a democrat majority in the house, senate already exist and a democrat president is a real possibility.
If that happens, the only tool the republicans will have is the filibuster and ironically, they will have John McCain to thank for it...

|
Emirites, yes where are all those voters who will never vote for McCain? Certainly not in Fl or SC.
I have said often here I would vote for Mitt if he were the nominee. Those who refuse to support whoever the GOP candidate is will be casting a vote to put Bill back in the oval office.
reggie - Mitt must be counting the cost. He outspent McCain 9-1 in Fl and still lost. If he can't win by throwing money away, maybe he should find better use for it. |
|
So, it appears that the Rs have shifted seriously left. Morons. That's why they are breaking for McCain (ie, P*mp for illegals).
All you conservatives out there, and you Huckabee supporters, are you so opposed to Romney on religous grouds that you'll support McCain who will betray your principles?
You R's can have your party, its a joke of a party if you elect McCain. I'm a conservative, not an R, and I need someone who represents me. That's only Romney today now that Fred has gone.
Immigration is the issue of our generation . . .followed closely by terrorism. but if our country is lost, what does terrorism matter? |
|
Governor Crist.
McCain owes him a really friggin big Harry and David basket. |
|
|
WHere are Romney's strongholds beside the west where McCain is already strong MY BOLD PREDICTION- HUCKABEE WILL COME OUT OF SUPER TUESDAY WITH MORE DELEGATES THAN ROMNEY!!! |
|
For Mr. Hewitt: I'm reminded of the joke about the CEO of the dog food company. Sales were tanking, and he talked about it with his board of directors:
"I don't understand it. We use the finest ingredients. We have the most modern factory. We have the best advertising. The flavor is great. The texture is great. The aroma is great. Why aren't people buying our dog food?"
To which a young aide in the back of the room replied,
"Sir. Dogs don't like it."
Mr. Romney is an impressive man. I'd be happy to go on the Townhall cruise ship with him or have him to my home for dinner. He's a good guy.
But 69% of Republicans in Florida don't like him enough to vote for him. That says something. |
|
|
We need to give Rick Santorum credit for the McCain win - Rick was a talk radio fixture trashing his fellow Senator, no doubt driving masses of Fl voters into the McCain corner. |
|
|
If McCain is the nominee I am going to vote for a Dem. In my opinion it's better to vote for the REAL Dem rather the Dem in GOP clothing. If McCain is elected and screws up, by acting like a Dem, he hands the Dems the 2012 election. My as well let a REAL Dem screw up through 2012 so they clear the way for a 2012 GOP win. |
|
|
Whaddaya think? Crist as a VP candidate sure couldn't hurt in Florida in November, where Crist is very popular. |
|
I know McCain is in...who's the other guy??
Rombots...understand this...this was the end of Romneys campaign tonight. Done.
McCain has momentum, endorsements, WINS... Romney has...not much.
Do you think he will win a state in the south?? Do you think he will beat McCain in any northern state?
He had 4500 ads in Florida...and LOST by 5%!
What more can the man do??
The man can't win a fight.
How can the man "fix Washington" when he can't win Florida?? when he can't win a fight?? This is the question Republicans have to ask and WILL ask.
I predict Romney's support will erode. |
|
SCOTUS
The people on here who keep talking about McShame appointing conservatives to the supreme court are dead wrong! All he would be able to do is NOMINATE judges. The senate has to vote to confirm them. The Dems will have control of the senate so even if McShame were the pres and nominated conservatives they would NOT be confirmed. McShame would compromise with the liberals and you would get more Souters. The SCOTUS is not a good reason to vote a nominee McShame.
|
|
i hope you McCain supporters don't have to eat your own dog food . . . taxes, illegals stealing your children's jobs and benefits, gang of 14 deals on moderate judges (McCain is NOT pro-life)i don't even trust the guy on defense. He's freaking CRAZY.
So the polls are showing that R's are frankly becoming liberals. what's the point of having R's any more? seriously. j |
|
|
By 2012 the Supreme Court could be lost for a generation should Billary be elected. |
|
I feel the end of an era has come for people like me.
I cast my 1st vote for Ronald Reagan and have supported each Republican Party Presidential nominee since. I was proud to do so most times. Never being a fan of Jack Kemp and thinking Bob Dole was a choice way past his prime, I wanted to sit out in 1996. I still contributed, campaigned and voted for them. Halfheartedly but I still did what I could. At the time I thought this was as bad as it can get.
Well it is now 2008 and we are faced with John McCain. I can't vote for him and I can't support the party if they are going to nominate someone like him. He should be running in the Democrat Primary.
President Ronald Reagan once said, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party left me." I think the time is near for me to say, "I didn't leave the Republican Party. The Republican Party left me."
|
|
|
you guys remind me of what a wise man once said, which is what doth it profit a man if he gain the whole world but lose his soul . . . (we're talking about the republican party here) . . but you guys are totally embarrassing, and you know who you are . . . i can hear your teeth gnashing and your ugly slobber and spit. |
|
|
I love how not one McCain supporter defends McCain by saying he is a conservative. All I read is how he is better then Clinton or Obama. Whooped freaking do! Ralph Nader is better then those two, does that mean we should give him the Republican nomination? McCain is great when it comes to the war, but the economy, give me a break. McCain has spent the last 25 years in Washington living off our dime. A lifetime politician knows how the economy works about as well as a hospital janitor knows about healthcare. Everyone can bash Rush as much as they want, but if you actually listened to the show, you would know Rush's predictions are scary accurate. If he thinks the republican party is in trouble, I think we all need to brace ourselves. |
|

Couldn't agree more. That's exactly how I view MCcain... do I hear a Hillary echo? |

Rob:
ARLINGTON, VA — U.S. Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign today announced a group of nearly 100 prominent Reagan Administration alumni who have endorsed John McCain for president.
“As former Reagan Administration officials, we are inspired by the same qualities in John McCain today that we so admired in President Reagan,” said former White House Counsel Arthur B. Culvahouse. “John McCain was a foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution, and he understands America’s role in the world — a powerful global leader working to serve as an example and promote democracy and freedom around the world. John McCain has a lifetime record of service to his country. In Congress, he led the fight to limit government, lower taxes, cut spending and keep families strong. John McCain is the only candidate who can rally the Reagan coalition of conservatives, Independents and conservative Democrats needed to defeat the Democratic nominee in the general election next year.” http://schotlinepress.wordpress.com/2008/01/07/reagan-alumn i-endorse-john-mccain-for-president/ |

Believe in Jesus as the only God in the flesh AND acknowledge your own sinful self seeking human nature which he atoned for (he paid for) with his voluntary death and you WILL experience a spiritual birth. He promised this. You can take him at his Word, he was not a liar or a politician. That is the simple good news of the gospel...ask God to forgive you of your stubborn arrgant pride and humble yourself at the foot of the cross. Politics are inconsequential if you do no believe in long term planning for your soul. He asked.."WHAT DOES IT PROFIT A MAN TO GAIN THE WHOLE WORLD BUT LOSE HIS OWN SOUL?" Unless you think that you are smarter than Jesus you should take pause and think about this question. |

it took me a decade to get my dad to understand that the R's really represented his values, now I'm with you. . . . the R's have become STUPID liberals. Do you honestly think you'll get a tax cut with McCain in charge? Do you think that we'll deal with illegals stealing from your children's future? do you think that we'll get economic expertise for the future? Hell no. Best we can hope for is another war that we'll never know is justified or not becase McCain doesnot know how to do ANYTHING ELSE. |
|

Think again, he has partnered more with demarcrats in congress than any other Republican Senator. Yeah, Reagan would have done that. You've got to be kidding. |

Over at Free Republic a Mormon who doesn't support Mitt said how all the returned missionaries are naming their first sons Mitt.
--10 years from now.
Daddy who am I named after?
Son, you are named after a loser! |

Don't despair Rob,you're not alone. Watching MCain battle global warming (increased fuel taxes), teaming with Ted Kennedy on legalizing what's illegal, disparaging conservative Republicans who disagree with him, nominating moderate jurists (legislating from the bench)watching as your President solves the health care non crises by siding with Democrats while castigating Republicans... what's not to like? |

Hugh Hewitt following the Florida GOP primaries:
Robert DeNiro's character in Goodfellas after he finds out that Joe Pecci's character got wacked. |

If they are blind I can't help it. I can't base my life of supporting the lesser of 2 evils. I know some will be suckered into voting for him thinking he can win. He can't. The Republican defeat will be like Roosevelt-Landon in 1936. By voting for him I would be voting for someone I can't trust, someone who favors amnesty, someone who did not support W's tax cuts, someone who makes my gut cringe when I hear him speak. Better to loose supporting someone worth supporting than win by supporting someone who like McCain aligns himself with Feingold, Kennedy and Lieberman and will damage the country. I will not vote for him period. |
|
|
If it was Mittens, Hugh would have posted the updated delegate count at the same time the election was called. And he would have put cute little emoticons around the count. |
|
spare Reagan the indignities of his former "officials" who see in McCain what they saw in Reagan . . ."A FREE RIDE ON THE PUBLIC DOLE." Geez, how embarrassing for Reagan, trust me he's turning over in his grave.
If R's are the same as D's, which is what the Florida result shows, then i'm just buying guns and butter because there are no other investments of value.
Talk about the BLIND LEADING THE BLIND. |

Yea, whatever. I too first voted for Reagan. I trudged through cold weekends dropping literature in rural towns in South Dakota and worked my buns off for the man. I still remember Reagan's 11th commandment and dutifully voted for Bush 1 and Dole. McCain definitely has problems but is far superior to previous GOP liberals like Nixon, Ford and Nelson Rockefeller. Give me a break. you want to sit out and left the Dems name up to 4 Supremes??

1.John McCain is solidly pro-life. He ALWAYS HAS BEEN! He wasn't pro choice to win the governorship of a liberal state1 and then change to pro life to woo conservatives to win the presidency. 2.John McCain has been a hawk on wasteful spending for years and has NEVER brought home an earmark or pork project to Arizona. He is a perennial winner of the "hero to the taxpayer award." by the Citizens against government waste. 3.John McCain voted against the Bush tax cuts for CONSERVATIVE REASONS. He did not vote against them because they benefited the rich or any reason that could be called liberal. He voted against the Bush tax cuts because he wanted to cut taxes and CUT SPENDING! And Guess what...He was right... 4. John McCain is a bulwark on the War in Iraq. It is unfair to say that McCain supported Bush's troop surge because it was Bush who supported the McCain troop surge. John McCain was calling for more troops months before the Bush Administration decided to do it. At the time, when I read the story in the Philadelphia Inquirer, the whole tone of the story was that somehow John lost touch with reality.. He was right! 5. John McCain got Alito and Roberts on the Supreme Court for Bush, while at the same time saved the Filibuster. We may have a democrat house, senate and president soon (especially if Romney gets nominated) and the only tool that we republicans will have left will be the filibuster and ironically they will have John McCain to thank for it. Conservatives disagreed with this tactically and somehow believe that he sold out the party, but refuse to look at the results.
In the Reagan Library tomorrow, John McCain will get the endorsement of Rudy Giuliani. He will then go on to Super Tuesday. Along the way, Nancy Reagan will let all of you know who Ronald Reagan's true heir is...
Wake Up People! Turn Rush, Sean, Laura, and Hugh Hewitt off for a few minutes and think for yourselves....

the master asked "WHAT DOTH IT PROFIT A MAN TO GAIN THE WHOLE WORLD BUT LOSE HIS OWN SOUL?" and he wasn't talking about the republican party losing their soul... he was talking about an invidual man who is so concerned about this life that he neglects to think about his relationship to God and others to the extent that his secular interests occupy all of his attention and ultimately leads to his eternal damnation. |
|
The love affair with John McCain and the media will be coming to an abrupt end. If and when McCain gets the nomination, watch for stories on the networks like "Given his age, will John McCain be able to Keep up the pace as president?" and "Does John McCain have the backing of his own party?"
The elite media is already handing out these assignments to the more than willing reporters...
|
|
Folks, tonight is not the end of the world, although you would think it is by some of the commentators here. Have some perspective, its only an election primary.
A President McCain will not be the end of the country, and for that matter now would a win by Hillary or Obama.
I am still having great fun watching Hugh fall more and more into denial. He has not congratulated John on his win, nor posted the FL delegate totals (57!) |
|
John Kerry is a war hero. I think we should vote for valiant war heroes. Write in John Kerry. Or vote for John McCain. Whatever.
Policy doesn't matter. The Vietnam war matters much more than anything else. Really, you can write in any POW you know.
Take my advice. Everything will turn out fine. |
|
|
Everyone says that they won't vote for McCain in November, which is fine. You're call. But I hope everyone realizes that there is still time to vote in your own primary. With the 57 delegates from Florida, McCain has about 8% of the delegates needed to win the nomination. Momentum is important especially when the MSM loves you the way they love McCain, but the race isn't over. After Feb. 5 it may well be, until then keep fighting. |
|
McCain can still get it done in Nov, even should the 15% of GOP voters supporting Romney stay home in protest. It's about Indies and McCain will get plenty of them. Though I'm a Huck fan, I savored tonight. Mitt, Hugh, Rush got a taste of their own medicine and tonight marked the end of Team Romney.
Romney is no conservative and never has been, but Mitt played the poster child and many conservatives have seen right through his facade. McCain may not have been annointed by Rush, but then again he is a 1000 times more authentic than Mitt and tonight validated that on so many levels. |
|
Hugh Hewitt hasn't changed the delegate count yet. He's trying to buy his credibility back on ebay.
hm |
|
|
your comments are incoherent. I'm a conservative, not a religious zealot/bigot one way way or the other. in fact, all you religious zealots/idiots are destroying the party. I'm all for faith and life, but dude, i don't even know what your reference to the anti-christ is all about . . are you suggesting that Romney is the anti-christ? WOW, that's hilarious!!!!!! BTW, i'm not trying to convert anyone to anything, but your idiotic ranting speaks for itself. your own silly scriptures condemn you. you probably believe that Balaam's as* really opened his mouth and spoke Hebrew. . spare me. |
|
|
I know - I worked the DOLE Campaign back in 96'...the guy was nice and I liked him but he was the establishment pick and there was no real groundswell of support for him. Our funraising outfit hired a bunch of democratic leaning people to do fundraising...it was pathetic. I like McCain's willingness to stand for what he believes in he is not going to compromise his principles. |
|
Sorry but it is over. Mitt will win where? Utah? Idaho? Vermont? This campaign is over.
McCain will win in CA, NY, IL, MN, WI, TX, NJ, CT, RI, KS perhaps MO (if not Huck will win MO).
Huck wins GA, AR, TN, NE and maybe OK (if not McCain wins OK) |
|
I guess I would have been what Medved refers to as a RINO. No problem, since the party left me, I no longer consider myself a Republican. I still believe in small gov't, sovereignty, rule of law, and national security. Too bad the GOP doesn't.
|
|
Hercules,
I'm sure you are a smart guy but c'mon, most of those points you laid out no one has an issue with (except #5), but please explain to me the big three pieces of crap legislation that bears his name.
McCain-Feingold - restricted free speech, hurt both Repubs and Dems and created 527 groups like moveon.org
McCain-Kennedy - This is amnesty and you know it. No matter how much dressing you put on it its amnesty.
McCain-Leiberman - Global warming standards that will hurt business.
Tell me how these are conservative pieces of legislation. Why don't you McCain people ever address these big three issues?
Please enlighten me? Don't these count? McCain is 0-3 in bringing to the American people legislation that has helped. Why should I vote for this failure?
|
|
It's not over yet..... but the world just changed tonight... for the worse.
The strongest country in the world is now going the way of socialism and a bill of rights for terrorists everywhere. Conservatism, the kind Rush talks about every day works. It always works and it is the key to liberty, success and prosperity. The GOP is going to elect the biggest liberal among us to represent our party? What is the point?
If you want liberalism you don't need to vote for McCain, you can get the real deal by voting for Obama or Hillary.
I will support the GOP candidate every time, no matter what..... except with McCain.
Myself, and millions of other conservatives will not vote for this guy. Ever. McCain will pick Rudy or Fred as his VP as a way to win us over.... sorry traitor, sorry Mr. Global Warming amnesty lover... we are not going to support you.
Better to let the Dims win if the GOP is sending a far left guy as their candidate.
Also... notice the talk raido haters support McCain? Talk radio is the one voice conservatives have.... it is also the enemy of the left. You know... the people who support McCain.
|
|
Rejoice! Behold the pro-choice Rudy endorses the Pro-Amnesty McCain! Clearly, the Party is on its way to being a JOKE!!! I'm glad that the NEW LIBERAL REPUCLICAN PARTY doesn't need conservatives.
Folks, buy guns and butter and get out of the market. Carter days are on their way here again . . . |
|
First, a lot more Republicans voted in Florida than Dems today. We had a property tax referendum which is a very hot issue. Either Republicans are not as demoralized as we have been told, or a lot of Dems are renters. Second, in both parties there is a 15% holdout in the votes for Edwards and Huckabee. Dick Morris said they indicated they were not ready for a black or a woman. We once called this lunchbox crowd who respond to populist appeals the Reagan Democrats, and they are ripe for the taking. |
|
Reality hits the Mittens like a cold fish in the face. Here's a reality check from The Corner.
It adds up to McCain. [David Freddoso]
In my opinion, the nomination is now his to lose. He now has an estimated 97 delegates (per CNN). Next Tuesday, he'll win New York (101), New Jersey (52), Connecticut (30), and Arizona (53). He'll probably also win Oklahoma (41) and Missouri (58).
These are — off the top of my head — all of the winner-take-all states on Super Tuesday (except Utah). They'll leave McCain with a total of 432 delegates. That's before any of the California delegates, of which he's sure to take several. He'll get some in Illinois and some in the proportional states in the South (where Romney won't do well anyway), and some in the caucus states. My guess is he'll finish Super Tuesday with no fewer than 700 delegates, and perhaps as many as 900.
Romney will probably have about 250 at that point, maybe something like 400 if he does unexpectedly well in the caucus states. The threshold for victory is 1,191.
|
|
|
A fine post. A very fine post. The Mittens don't want to hear it so complete has been their brainwashing in the echo chamber that is Hugh Hewitt, Mark Levin and Rush. But hear it they must. |
|
If you are to dense to see McCains love affair with the biggest anti conservative libs in the country you show your ignorance in all its glory.
The only people who want McCain are libs. You slam Rush and other conservative leaders and we are supposed to think you are a smart guy? You are going to get socialism and a closed Gitmo.... just like the far left wants. Congrats!
You go ahead and be happy tonight. The RNC is getting no money from me or millions of other key supporters. You think the " moderate independent " voter is going to vote for McCain over Obama?? Fat chance...
The libs got their guy tonight... have you seen them celebrate all over the blogosphere...and there you are Herc to join the KOS kids in the celebration. Nice work chump. |
|
And Public Policy Polling?
I call first dibs on Hugh looking to Rasmussen national polls for his "Romney Rising" narrative tomorrow....
Anyone else think tomorrow's debate is gonna suck? McCain will be all smug, Mitt will be desperate, and Huck will have his nose so far up JMac's rear he'll be smelling Johnny's denture cream. |
|
|
|
Thanks for the heavy lifting. You are 100% correct.
John McCain is a patriot, hero and conservative. |
|
|
Please....anyone...I'm not seeing the logic. McCain is a democrat dressed up as a Republican. Where is the contrast? |
|
|
Huckabee supporters will never vote for Mitt. Romney and talk-radio have trashed Huckabee with complete lies. They made certain that Huckabee supporters will never vote for Romney. By your own hand and your own reasoning McCain has a lock on the nomination. You, Rush, and all those who have violated Reagan's 11th command have handed McCain the nomination. |
|
Shock or Disbelief: How could this be, his campaign was DEAD last summer?
Denial: McCain cannot win, Mitt Romney is the stronger candidate. American want to round up all Mexicans and put them in concentration camps. He is against waterboarding, so he is not qualified to be a Republican.
Anger: I am sitting out this election or voting for Hillary! Just watch me do it!
Guilt: How did we ever let this happen? What did I do to allow the GOP to sink so low?
Depression: Pass me the liquor. I feel sick.
Bargaining: McCain better make things right with the base, he has to get approval from Rush, Hannity and then agree to have Fred Thompson as his running mate to keep him in line (actually even I hope for that!).
Acceptance and Hope: Well, it is better to win the general than to face President Hillary in the White House for possibly two terms. GO MCCAIN!
|
|
|
McCain, it is said, is the death of conservatism. The death of the influence of reality-denying shill-masters like Rush, HH, and the like. The marginalization of wackos of all stripes. The beginning of an emotionally grown-up Republican party. Well, give McCain a medal for a job well done! |
|
to see the far left libs all celebrate a McCain victory tonight? How does it feel to celebrate your McCain victory with the KOS kids, the DUmp, the Huffington crowd? Really.... how does it feel to give the anti American socialist libs their dream candidate... John McCain?
Sorry, but if you find yourself supporting the same guy as the far left, you have lost your way. |
|
Reagan had to run twice and fight the party to the death to get elected . . . McCain is our "establishment" gerald ford, and he's gonna get CREAMED. I don't know if Mitt has enough money to run twice, but Reagan managed.
And mark my words that Billary or Obama are going to be very bit as hideous as Carter.
History is repeating itself. . . .when the R's fail, and YOU WILL just like when you rejected Reagan, you better hope that a real conservative is willing to comeback and fight to the death instead of just retire . . .
and you guys mock Romney for spending his fortune. IDIOTS. That's what Washington did. . he didn't have to . . . IDIOTS. Geez, i'm embarrassed for this nation.
How many americans are willing to sacrifice their personal fortunes for the nation? hmmm, george washing was, and a few others, and maybe even Romeny.
Shame on America. |
|
I ask you anti conservative McCain supporters... exactly what part of conservatism do you not like?
The country was built on conservatism.
So... what part of conservatism do you not like? |

Time to update the delegate count. |
|
'Hold ‘em/Fold ‘em. Mitt has to make the call. McCain is going to sweep the Northeastern primary states next week. Huckabee is going to roll along down South, thus denying Romney traction there. The only way to overcome this pincer movement is through vast expenditures of cash for television advertising. The only money available to Romney at the moment is his own. So the question stands: will he write the big check? Or will he say to himself: good money after bad? It’s a decision only he can make. If he decides not to write the check, McCain’s the nominee.' John Ellis at Real Clear Politics
Anyone think Huck is going to do Mitt any favors after the way Hugh treated the preacher man? |
|
B Messenger:"Sorry but it is over. Mitt will win where? Utah? Idaho? Vermont? This campaign is over. McCain will win in CA, NY, IL, MN, WI, TX, NJ, CT, RI, KS perhaps MO (if not Huck will win MO). Huck wins GA, AR, TN, NE and maybe OK (if not McCain wins OK)"
OK, so where does that leave Huckabee? Even with your calculations Huckabee loses. So why does the man keep dragging his voters along with only a one state win if he knows he can't win enough delegates? The same reason that he refuses to concede defeat now...The same reason he toots the so called 'fair tax' at every campaign stop even though he knows that it has no support on the other side of the aisle for five years and has no chance of ever passing.... Because of his extreme dislike of Romney and his loyalty to McCain. He intends to drag his voters to his demise and split the vote. Only maybe those Huckabee voters will get wise...As Hugh says...that remains to be seen. |
|
I really hope the threats of the Romney crowd - the rabid-wing (and likely nativist-wing) of the Party - do keep their threat and leave the Party.
I truly believe they represent about 3% of the Party and we can make that up with dissatisfied Independents who voted Democrat in the last election because of all the corruption and liberal spending as well as Latinos (and maybe even conservative blacks thanks to Bill CLinton).
For these traitors to come here and say they will stay home and allow the election of a socialist is beyond evil.
Need I remind you that this about more than just the Presidency. This is about the VP, the Sec. of State, the Sec of Defense (I’m going to repeat that one: THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE FOR GOD’S SAKE) the NSA, the Attorney General, AND EVERY JUDICIAL NOMINEE!!!! And you scumbags will sit home and let socialists make those appointments?
If you are that vile and vindictive then you can not - can never - be good for our Party.
This is one right-wing Conservative that bids you adieu!

Bill Kristol writes in from Fox News Channel:
"Three points:
"A well informed Democrat told me tonight that it was very doubtful that Al Gore would endorse Obama in the near future - but 'keep your eye on Jimmy Carter.'
"Most interesting statistic in the Democratic exit poll: Obama ran even with Clinton among voters who decided in the last week. That suggests that he has a more even playing field moving ahead toward Super Tuesday than past poll numbers would suggest.
"On the Republican side: About a third of the voters called themselves 'somewhat conservative.' McCain did as well with those 'somewhat conservative' voters as he did with the Republican primary electorate as a whole. Among the quarter or so of the voters who called themselves 'very conservative,' McCain lost to Romney by about 2 to 1, getting only 20 percent of those voters. This suggests to me that McCain's 'conservative problem' is not as dire among conservative voters as you would think listening to conservative elites. And in fact, among the very conservative Republican voters, it's quite possible that they prefer Romney or even Huckabee to McCain, but the fact that they prefer Romney or in some cases Huckabee to McCain doesn't mean that they view McCain as unacceptable.
"What's more, if you look at McCain's favorable/unfavorable rating, it's strong among all Republicans, including conservatives. So McCain has some work to do with more conservative Republicans, but not as much as you would think from listening to some talk radio or reading some conservative blogs. He'll have to figure out which conservative elites can be brought around - and which he'll have to go around."

The only Republican that has less class than Mitt Romney is Hugh Hewitt.
I cannot believe I used to be his biggest fan (I was like a Annie Wilkes fan lol)
The great thing about our Republican system of govt is that exposes people's true colors! |
|
You're kidding, right?
Little thing called the war in Iraq? War against the jihad? There are a lot of WOT conservatives. Only the kook fringe is so upset about the immigration bill that they would base their vote on McCain-Kennedy. Or McCain-Feingold for that matter. There are simply bigger issues.
It'll be close, and if the war starts to wrap up, I think McCain's got a huge problem. But every other Republican in the race would have an even huger problem.
It would be quite a bank shot for the GOP to keep the White House after such an unpopular president. It's hard to do even after a popular president. Gore couldn't do it. Bush 41 did, but he had a terrible opponent.
A dud like Romney could never, ever do it. What I think Hugh and all of Romney's fans have to accept at the end of the day is Romney never made the sale at the retail level. Apparently, connected insiders who write books about him, love him. But he didn't reach voters. He seemed insincere, and his record supports that opinion. |
|
was not Adam...it was commited by an angel called Lucifer. His sin was arrogant pride(Ezekiel 14) He is also the one who condemns people of faith because he is called the "accuser of the brethren". From the tone of your comments you seem to have a lot in common with Lucifer; you both hate believers(or at least you SEEM to).
The good news is that if you repent and forsake your pride and confess Jesus as LORD you will be assured of a new life, beginning here on earth, and continuing after death. (which is the good news that has been preached since his resurrection nearly 2000 years ago, continuously from that time until this, throuout the world) - If you hate this message, I am just a messenger--your issue is with the source of the message- JESUS. He is the one you have an issue with...not me.
You were quoting the Bible to suit your conservative cause. I was merely acknowledging the fact that in so doing you were twisting Jesus' words..,the "wise man" that you quoting and this should not be done for your political argumentation. If you think that is incoherent just because someone calls you on the fact that you were misusing scripture...remember the Pharisees were upset with Jesus when he called them out for doing the same thing.
The GOOD NEWS is that both Paul & Peter were extremely arrogant, opinionated men before they repented and accepted Christ and were used mightily by God after they humbled themselves. Liberty Jaw GOD CAN AND WANTS TO SAVE YOU BUT ONLY WHEN YOU BOW YOUR KNEE TO THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS AS WE ALL MUST DO...to the glory of GOD the Father. I hope one day that you will consider setting your mocking aside and looking at the claims of Jesus outside of the politicization of organized religion... I don't want to point you to a church but to the LORD of the true church...only he can save us...that is my point. |

Barrack Obama - Age 46
John McCain - Age 72
Now, imagine an October debate between the two of them. Them talk about electability! McCain will look 100 next to Barrack!
The Media wants McCain - it will be a landslide victory for Barrack in November - remember Dole in '96? Mitt Romney is the most electable - wake up Republican America. If McCain gets the nomination, lowest turnout ever on the Republican side if we're up against Barrack. McCain cannot get the youth vote...it's over!
Mitt is our only chance to win. Only one. The base of the party will not vote for McCain - ever. |
|
|
Giuliani dropped out. Before that Fred dropped out. Huckabee dropped out in Florida, and is only staying in to see if he can broker the convention. That leaves Mitt and McCain. Can McCain win 2-man contests?? Let's see. I've read, literally, hundreds of posts on several sites that all say the same thing....If McCain is the nominee, we're sitting out the election. Rush was right on when he said that a McCain candidacy would ruin the Republican Party. If he is the nominee, I'll sit back and test that theory. Let's see what happens. |
|
(Commentary by Roger B. Campbell)
"The rap against Mitt Romney has always been that he is just a pleasant, well-meaning banker who'll do whatever it takes to close the deal. This allegedly explains his rather dramatic flip-flops on social issues, his conversion to supply-side economics, and his recent emphasis on the family as a rhetorical trope.
The question of authenticity is, in the final analysis, very difficult of resolution and may well be something which is primarily between the candidate and his god. Romney is an obscenely youthful looking 60, his visage not even marked by laugh-hyphen lines. Many of us in his generational cohort wish we had looked half-so-good two decades ago.
All of which is merely a way of suggesting that the real problem facing Romney is a perceived lack of what the Brits call "bottom" - the gravitas and air of effortless competence which enables strangers to perceive that "There is in thy face that which I would feign call master: authority".
(Part 1)
|
|
|
If Romney's voters stay with Romney because they like him better than Huckabee, then they hand the nomination to McCain. |
|
But merely looking like someone born to command isn't enough and here discourse plays a crucial role. None of the Republican candidates has so far exhibited the majesty of English prose half so well as the liberal Democrat, Barack Obama. Partly, this is a matter of competing marketing strategies with the GOP (and the Lady Macbeth of West Chester County) opting for a laundry list of technical minutiae of interest only to the driest and most desperate of policy wonks.
To set himself apart and to stop a frightened Republican Establishment's stampede to semi-RINO John McCain, Mitt Romney must somehow channel the doughty Torie warrior Churchill and must understand that what he is waging is truly a war and that the prize for his efforts is nothing less than the soul of the party.
There are manifest excellences in Senator McCain's backround. I have no doubt he would make a superb Secretary of Defense or National Security Advisor. Crusty, rock-ribbed reactionary that I am, I take great delight in the contempt with which he views the shills for corporate welfare whose K Street PACS seemingly own a party once officially committed to low taxes, smaller government, and free enterprise.
(Commentary by Roger B. Campbell, recovering Republican campaign consultant.)
|
|
I am still mulling over Mitt's speech. He has to see the poll numbers for super Tuesday, and now even more top GOP endorsements will come John's way.
Mitt has lost to McCain in Fl, SC and NH. Where can he reasonably expect to pick up big wins to stop the momentum?
The only way for him to contend is to spend even more millions on a TV media blitz.
And tonight he did not even claim the silver medal. |
|
|
Breathe hard. Remove your thumb from your mouth, concentrate and get an original thought. |
|
That scene in Caddyshack in the bar where Judge Smails trys to convince Ty Webb not to play with Al Czervik (Rodney Dangerfield's character) but...
imagine Hugh Hewitt is Judge Smails trying to convince Governor Crist to not join forces with John McCain...
And Governor Crist says, Hugh, my father never liked you. |
|
But in so many other areas McCain severely disappoints the Right. His obvious delight in breaching party discipline; his preachy, smug certitude that he alone is pure and disinterested; his refusal to carry the fight for controversial nominees into the enemy's camp - all these add up to someone who is, sadly, less than the sum of his parts.
In order to win, Romney must give a stemwinder of a speech at every stop beginning with breakfast Wednesday morning through his last appearance next Tuesday, he needs to take McCain on directly on three issues: Calling him out on his flagrant lie regarding withdrawl from Mesopotamia, defending America's borders and ridding outselves of the twenty-to-thirty million criminal invaders intent on occupying large swaths of our landmass, and making it plain that the 2008 Republican Presidential nominee will be committed to strategic tax cuts aimed at reducing the Federal role in our economy.
As to the first of these, Romney should treat McCain's comments with good-humored ridicule, something Reagan understood instinctively, one possible tactic might be to mock McCain's quip that he might keep troops in Iraq for "100,000 years". Mitt could feign indignation and say, "John, you know I'm as committed as you are to giving our service men and women all the time and all the tools they need to destroy Al Qaeda and the Taliban but I frankly think that a hundred thousand years should be more than enough time to meet that goal and I am willing to commit to that in writing."
(Commentary by Roger B. Campbell, recovering Republican campaign consultant.) |
|
|
As a Mac fan I fully admit that you are right - the only way that Mac can lose now is if Romney dropped out and commanded his legions to move to Huck's camp. And judging by the lock-step fanaticism expressed by the Mittbots they surely would all go to Huck - well at least 94% of them would. |
|
The immigration issue is crucial precisely because it's a way of showing the proverbial "fire in the belly". It enables Romney to tie McCain to Teddy Kennedy, the second greatest bete-noir of Conservatives and is the issue McCain can't explain away: Left-wing apostasy which directly endangers the national security which McCain views as his hole-card. The intensity of the disconnect between the real America and the alternative-universe inside the Beltway makes this an issue which by itself can fatally wound McCain's candidacy and which, if permitted to become the official Platform position would doom the GOP in the Fall. Intriguingly, the economic impact of the illegals is dramatic and most deliterious to native-born Blacks, whose long bondage to the Democrats may be loosening as a result of the appallingly contemptuous way that the Clintonae (and especially Bill) have played the race card during the last two weeks. I probably would not vote for Barack Obama for township auditor, even if he were the last other person on earth. But the sliming he has endured from those self-proclaimed "Progressives" has been scurrilous and in accord with the finest traditions of such Illuminati as Theodore Bilbo and "Pitchfork Ben" Tillman and must never be countenanced in any society with any claim to moral decency.
The third issue, Tax Cuts, always works for us (If you don't believe me about its potency, just ask Poppy Bush who may well have managed to forgive Dick Darman by the time he died last weekend.). Romney could make it a point in every major state to visit either (a) a business which has expanded because of the Bush tax cuts or (b) a company where Bain financed an LBO which resulted in saving the business and adding jobs. This would also differentiate him from Mike Huckabee with whom he is competing for the so-called "values voters".
|
|
Romney has very little time to go on the offensive. If he does, he may well "find his voice" and, in the process, find a powerful rationale for his candidacy. Basically, he, his CM, media director, and pollster must be prepared to stay up all night if need be in order to have a persuasive "Vision" running about fifteen to twenty minutes long in place for the first events Wednesday. It is, to be sure, a tall order but if the candidate and his team are incapable of accomplishing it the country has a right to know. Friends of mine who've earned their MBAs at Harvard, as MItt did, proudly refer to it as "The West Point of Capitalism". The cadets along the Hudson are taught to so organize their time, and so discipline their bodies and minds that all-nighters are, in theory at least, never necessary. The real world tends to be just a tad less precise. It is 11:03 PM EST as I finish writing this. By my reckoning, that gives them 8 hours - one standard working day - to do something that probably should have essentially been done six months ago. George Romney knew how to make small, safe, fuel-efficient cars while still treating his workers decently and making a comfortable profit, as well. There was a time when things like that were a tangible expression of the American identity. If Mitt Romney can achieve the tasks I've outlined, he'll have vindicated National Review's editors in their endorsement. If not, prepare for a really long, extraordinarily depressing general election. And don't say I didn't warn you."
Roger B. Campbell is a recovering Republican political consultant who would prefer to think that his activities on behalf of the Party have not necessarily damned him to hell forever but is not entirely certain of that fact.

GET OUT HUCK!!! GET OUT HUCK!!! GET OUT HUCK!!!
Opps...sorry, I figured I'd beat the 'conservative establishment' to the punch and start yelling at Huckabee to drop out of the race and give Romney a chance to win.
Too bad so many people like Rush had to blantantly abandon principles and attack Huckabee early. Now he's just gonna stick it to em and stick around and pass the nomination to McCain. |
|
One can only flip on a certain number of issues before that person becomes a parody of a real man.
Mitt is that parody and will remain so. You can not outdo John Kerry in pandering and expect logical pragmatic Republicans to embrace naivite.
Mitt is toast. I shouldn't be saying this but if your sole mission is to stop Mac then you should follow the advice of cavalier973,
However Huck would only do slightly better than the Bishop in the general still losing badly to the Dem, IMHO - although I do personally like him. |
|
The real conservatives will come out and vote next Tuesday. This was not a Juan Mclame landslide. This pathetic old liberal goat is running out of money...and doesn't get half of Cuba voting for him next week.
The Republican party is the way it is because we have allowed Juan to get to this point. It's TIME TO STOP IT NOW AND ALL BE ADULTS.....The liberal Juan Mclame needs his head handed to him on a platter next Tuesday......
If, GOD FORBID, and I don't think he will, Mclame gets the nomination.....I am staying home. I am not volunterring like I did in 2004. I cannot vote with a clear conscience for LAME JUAN>>>>a back stabbing, lying little prick.....and TOTALLY LIBERAL TO BOOT>........GOD SAVE US |
|
you may well be condemned to hell, but frankly i'm increasingly convinced the company there isn't so bad . . . I'm pretty sure my family and Romney's family will all be there with you . . .
Your aggressive salutations are dead on. the battle may be lost, but the war not yet. Valley Forege anyone?
|
|
Hmm, guess there were no real conservatives in Iowa, SC, or FL. They must be around here somewhere, maybe they are all out on a cruise somewhere.
In any case, if Hugh or Rush are on the radio, tomorrow, I am going to take my marbles and stay home.
So there! |
|
Romniacs must face the cold hard truth. Huckabee is not going anywhere. He has a strong grass roots movement and he is a VP contender. Add in the fact that Hugh and Romney have trashed Huckabee to the point they will never vote for Romney anyway and by Hugh's own reasoning Romney is toast.
If you Romniacs really hate McCain that much, you are left with one final nuclear option to deny him the Presidency. Drop Romney and vote for Huckabee!
|
|
THe man has millions of dollars....HE ACTUALLY EARNED......he can stay in this right up until the very end.........Juan Mclamd has used up his allowance from the rich hag he's marred to.
JUAN MCLAME IS SUCH A SLIMEY LITTLE TWIRP!!! |
|
I will need a new bumper sticker for my car.
"John (Bob Dole) McCain For President" |
|
JC
You are correct, the only chance Mitt now has if for Huck to get out. And since Huck can campaign on pennies a day apparently, he can stay in. And after the way Romney surrogate Hugh attacked him day in and day out, I don't think Huck is going to do them any favors.
Reaping what you sow. |
|
beaumandy 66:"Ah yes, the death of conservatism I ask you anti conservative McCain supporters... exactly what part of conservatism do you not like? The country was built on conservatism."
I like freedom of speech. Then there is McCain/Feingold limiting freedom of speech during elections.
I like a strong national defense. Then there is McCain/Kennedy. What is the point of a strong military, if we don't defend our borders and everyone just walks in and takes over...our jobs...our hospitals...our schools...our tax money for cash aid and food stamps for their legally born children.
well you get the picture...this sort of thing ticks us off...I'm turning out the lights... |
|
|
Please take Tex out of your name. You dishonor it with your support of the liar with no principles. |
|
|
What amazes me is that in the private sector the only thing McCain could do a really good job at is as a greeter at Wal-mart and yet the bleeding heart libs in the Republican party still vote for the doddering old FOOL! If McCain is the nominee of the Republican party then I am going to vote for the Democrat nominee. If I have the choice between a liberal who admits he or she is a liberal and a liberal who calls himself a conservative, its an easy choice. McCain is toast and the Republican party is toast if they follow this idiot. Mitt is the obvious choice of a conservative or for anyone with a hint of common sense. My faith in the intelligence of the American people is dwindling rapidly. |
|
|
He spent 20+ million to lose in a winner take all state. If he spends his money like that I cant trust him to spend mine. |
|
|
he hates Romney and wants to see the mormon candidate lose. From his anti-mormon comments in the interview, to his speeches at anti-mormon rallies, to the anti-mormon robocalls in IA and NH, Huck has shown his cards. Its too bad because I like Huck. He can't win the nomination, but he takes shots a Mitt constantly and stands up for McCain. It should be obvious to most people, but Huck is only in this thing for one reason: you figure it out. |
|
GLOATING? All is well tonight? You surely deserve celebrating. You sound so delighted, therefore, I am really happy for you. So far I have not been much in favor of anyone. Just seeing a lot of negative Points in some of our nominees and in some much more than others. Tonight, Romney, had a wonderful strong speech. There will be lots of ups and downs ahead, let's hope for what's best for the country and the future of this wounderful nation. My favorit Poet Ella W. Wilcox, under tne Title: Whatever is, is best, I know there are no errors in the great Eternal plan, And all things work together for the final good of man.
I sincerely hope, in the end things will be for the better, and it will all come out right. |
|
JC:"Too bad so many people like Rush had to blantantly abandon principles and attack Huckabee early. Now he's just gonna stick it to em and stick around and pass the nomination to McCain."
You just don't get it do you? Huck hasn't changed.Rush and Hugh didn't abandon principles. Huck did.He never cared about his constituents. You just don't want to face the truth. Huck knows that the flawed 'fair tax'bill has failed to pass for five years and doesn't have a chance of passing with no Democratic support even as he touts it at every campaign stop.
Huck knew what he was doing when to fix economic problems in Arkansas he pushed and passed a sales tax on groceries then lied and said the "court'made me do it.Neither Rush or Hugh or any of us have offended the voters. We just want them to know that they are being taken for a ride. We don't really care if we have offended Huck. We want to protect and inform the public. OK, now the lights are out.Hopefully they come back on in America. |
|
|
just to even out the automatic name recognition McCain has. Sorry you missed that obvious point. |
|
|
Hugh, what was that you were saying tonight about this? |
|
You can see the hate Huck has for Romney dripping from his face and words every time he talks about or to Romney. (Green monster of jealousy.)
And as Lmiller reminded us, his whole stragegy was based on his devotion to anti-Mormon sentiment which he used to try to divide social conservatives. What a shabby and petty little man Huck is! Dumb as a post, as well.
He is only in it now to stick it to Romney. There is one bright spot, however . . .
HE IS TOAST! And McCain (if he wins) would be a fool to choose him for VP, no matter if they have an agreeemnt or not. The only thing worse than a McCain nomination would be Huck as VP. He is MORE liberal than McCain! And has a rather large propensity for gaffes and idiocy. He would hurt McCain a lot more than help him. The MSM would have a virtual field day when the general starts- they are positively salivating for it. Fired squirrel, anyone?
Huckabee was only good for Rudy (first) and McCain (second) as a spoiler for Romney. Not sure if that can last. Huck's numbers are diving and he has no money.
Huck is irrelevant now. And how sweet is that?
|
|
Good money says McCain gets a wave of endorsements. Rudy's just the first among many, but that makes all of the NE other than Mass. impregnable for Romney. McCain may even target Mass. And Huckabee is likely going to go after Romney with a vengeance if the negative stuff from Fla. spills over into the debate.
California goes largely McCain's way with Schwarzenegger campaigning for him (watch, it's a given and means a decent amount of free pub. for both).
Thompson MAY endorse. Lots of Senators will also step up to join their "old" friend. I suspect a lot of Republican politicians are looking at Crist with some real envy.
Romney has the personal money to keep competing, but he'll be hard-pressed to maintain the same kind of spending he's used up until now, especially because the, how shall I say it, maybe the "less than fully committed" financial backers should be gone. He'll still have an identity group core for finances, but that's not enough to support, esp. since so many have given the max.
As we all know, you can't totally count McCain out to do something that doesn't help his electoral chances, but he's riding high right now.
It's a tough map for Romney right now. |
|
|
Sure Super Tuesday is still a fight, but after that it is over. Then we get ready for the title match. |
|
|
You will know the fruits by their labors, to paraphrase an old book. We will see who are liberals when they come out to play. |
|
I'm sorry that Mitt didn't win tonight, but he wasn't that far from McCain, and McCain won a plurality, not an absolute majority. C'mon, that was not a numerically large win. And a few months ago his even being close to winning was considered almost impossible.
When the other candidates drop out I will be interested to see where their votes divvy up. This is far from over. Florida isn't the end all be all. Florida isn't the boss of us! lol C'mon, that was not a numerically large win. The vast majority of Americans haven't even voted yet! |
|
Anyone that would allow Billary or Obama (his aides support Hamas) to win, just because your boy did not win, need to have their heads examined.
"I'm going to take my marbles and go home!!"
GROW UP
or better yet, get out of our Party, you do not deserve to be in it.
At least with ANY of the Republicans you can at least wait 4 years and run your man again, if the dems win, there may not be another 4 years.
Think about it
Good night |
|
McTex, you argue that those of us who won’t support McCain are evil, that we’re not true conservatives, and that we should leave the party. But, if you elect Hillary-lite instead of Hillary, what exactly have you “good conservatives” accomplished? If you believe John McCain is actually a Republican (forget conservative), then the party is already lost. It’s not us “evil-doers” who are handing the country over to the liberals, you McCain supporters are.
Every Arizona Republican I know, friends with businesses, legislative district leaders, and elected Republican state legislators contemplate whether we'll sit out the election for President if McCain is the nominee.
McCain’s fellow precinct committeemen from his AZ legislative district are urging fellow Republicans NOT to support his candidacy. Go to http://www.trugop.gov then click on the McCain link on the left then go to the bottom of the McCain page to the two censure links. At Arizona’s largest county Republican Party meeting last week, McCain was voted the most unacceptable candidate by the people who know him best.
Many of us will fold and vote for McCain instead of the legitimate demonrat, but many of us will not. And after the media crucify him in their quest to anoint Hillary, I doubt enough squishy independents will stick with him to offset we who won’t.
And for the record, McCain-Feingold was a direct and deliberate attack on the very foundation of our liberty - our right to freedom of speech. McCain has violated his oath to protect and defend the Constitution and has betrayed every American in the process. He isn't anymore fit to serve as President of the United States than Bill Clinton was or Hillary Clinton is.
What a sad and dangerous day it will be for America if our choices for President come down to two pathetic self-absorbed hateful politicians like McCain and Clinton. |
|
Sorry, Tom,
You and the McCainites miss the point.
This is a principled stand by conservatives
against a man with no firm principles other than
what is in John McCain's interest.
I won't rehash the myriad number of times McCain
has subverted the Constitution(or tried to) nor
will I mention the fact he's never had a handle
on his temper, or judgement.
The only abiding positive in McCain's favor is
his stance militarily...and that is nearly wiped
out by the fact he doesn't consider open borders
a national security threat. This is also the man
who said Americans wouldn't pick produce for
$50.00/hr.
In truth, outside of his support for the
Military, and that is dubious given his attempts
to give Al Quiada civil rights and lawyers from
the ACLU, to say nothing of closing Gitmo and
outlawing a non-torture device(water boarding) he
really ISN'T for national security.
Finally, if forced to vote for "Democrat Lite" or
a Democrat Americans can recognise as such,
I'll opt for staying home or voting for Obama.
|
|
|
I am from a New Deal Democrat family. I was brought up to hate Richard Nixon and the "evil rich republicans" as my mother would call them. Then Ronald Regan, or Saint Ronald, saved my soul. I will never forget watching the American hostages being released from Iran after 444 days, while Ronald Regan became president. From that moment on, I knew that I was a Republican and conservative. I will NEVER, EVER, |

Whether or not John McCain is the best thing for the Republican party... I sincerely think he would be the best thing for America.
You think that blind party hackery is better than choosing the best ideas from both sides of the political spectrum?
Very few people, whatever their political affiliation, agree with their party 100% of the time...
a competent leader should be free to vote his conscience, not what Hugh or Hannity says is "conservative."
Go McCain! |
|
John McCain will blatantly LIE and continue to LIE to win this nomination. Do they think McCain will stop LYING if elected president?
Example: McCain has been a resident of Arizona for 27 YEARS. In that time, thousands upon thousand of illegal immigrants have poured across the Mexican border, infiltrating through Nogales, to Tucson, north through Casa Grande, Mesa, Phoenix, all the way to Flagstaff, Page and into Utah. Wave after wave of illegals sneak west through Gila Bend, to Yuma, and into California. Regiment after regiment of illegals skulk eastward through Tombstone, Wilcox, and Safford into New Mexico. Once into these states, they infiltrate throughout the country. Illegals evade the law through every means imaginable and ignore the law. (Type in Chandler AZ Rapist on a search engine and see what comes up.) They continue to surge into McCain’s home state. They are on the march.
Where has John McCain been for the last 27 years? Arizona has been pleading for years for John McCain to do something about this invasion. Whenever this issue is brought up in the debates, McCain answers that he KNOWS about illegal immigration BECAUSE HE LIVES IN ONE OF THE BORDER STATES. THAT’S HIS ANSWER.
With an eye on the election, he attempted to push through legislation that offered AMNESTY to these criminals with NO FENCE at the border. Here is proof that he is pandering for the Hispanic vote and is not listening to the majority of Americans. McCain ACTS when it benefits McCain.
Why will the Republican Party vote for an old dog that will not learn new tricks, but USES TRICKS to get elected?
Of all the voices promising CHANGE, Mitt Romney has the only AUTHENTIC VOICE. Are we going to let McCain keep barking the same ol’ same ol’? Or will we elect a real outsider, the real deal - Mitt Romney!

the Romney-bots were claiming you weren't a republican if you said you wouldn't vote for the eventual nominee (of course, this is when it looked like THEIR guy was going to win.)
But now, they are threatening not to vote now that it is a different candidate.
You Romney-Bots are starting to sound like a cult.
I am truly sorry for your loss, but maybe it will humble you enough to stop your deceitful tactics. The last thing you want to do is turn people AGAINST your candidate, and frankly people are getting REALLY REALLY sick of the way you are acting. You think others don't notice, but they do. And the fact that you think no one notices makes you look VERY condescending.
Seriously, do you really want people voting AGAINST your candidate?
Learn a lesson from this and back off a little bit. Stop the attacks, stop the lying, stop the spamming! |

HERE ARE THE FACTS:
1. Florida is a CLOSED PRIMARY. 2. Only those REGISTERED REPUBLICAN a month ago were supposed to be allowed to vote. 3. Rush announced yesterday that 'someone' had instructed poll workers to allow INDEPENDENTS to vote REPUBLICAN. 4. This is ILLEGAL. 5. The final turnout was 20% INDEPENDENTS/DEMOCRATS. 6. The final turnout was 28% MODERATES / 11% LIBERALS. This is 8% higher than in SC's "OPEN" PRIMARY. 7. McCain carried the INDEPENDENT/DEMOCRAT votes by 2:1.
People, what we have here is MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD. These results are STATISTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for a CLOSED PRIMARY. Someone, I suspect the Governors Office, wa instructing polling places to allow INDEPENDENTS to vote.
This is wrong and we need to call the FLORIDA BOARD OF ELECTIONS to complain. |
|
So far, McCain has won 3 states. Two were OPEN PRIMARIES where he lost amongst CONSERVATIVES by double-digits. One was a CLOSED PRIMARY where Moderates carried 40% of the vote (somehow) and once again, he lost amongst Conservatives by double-digits.
Can a man win the Republican Nomination while NOT ONCE carrying the base? |

I see a mean little troll who will lead a once proud institution named Reaganism into oblivion. I bid the new moderate left leaning Republican Party, adieu.
As I say my goodbye’s to you the new moderate Republican Party, I suggest that you say hello to your future. Say hello to the new language of your future, Spanish. Say hello to open borders and amnesty for law breakers. Say hello to tax payer funded health care. Say hello to US taxpayer’s funding of the cost’s related to fighting a war against an imaginary foe by the name of “Global Warming”. Say hello to a flood of mentally ill Jihadist’s crossing our open borders and filling our land with death and destruction. Say hello to massive tax increases. Say hello to the end of the global fight for freedom and liberty. Say hello to the free and open murder of tiny helpless babies.
You asked for it you got it! Say hello to President Barrack Hussein Obama the republican’s choice in 2008.

It is obvious that many of us cannot betray our convictions and vote for McCain, so the question becomes what to do. Do we sit out? Do we find a 3rd party to support? Do we form a 3rd party? I informed our county chairman last year during the amnesty fight that I would not work for McCain, and that I would resign as precint committeeman if he got the nomination.
What do we do? We have 9 months to organize. It is possible if a fairly large group of conservatives left the Republican party, offering good well qualified candidates, the party could move back to where in belongs for 2012. |

I can't fit this in one post, so I need to hit each one independently.
I will try to explain McCain's position and why I may not agree with him 100% on one of them, I will make the best case that can be made. I thank you for the civility of your response.
McCain Feingold: While I don't agree with the final execution I agree with the impact of special interests in quid pro quo arrangements for soft money and pork barrel projects. The goal is admirable and yes, conservative. As you say, it hurt both the elephants and the donkeys. So in the endgame the affect of McCain Feingold is neutral. Sometimes I think that conservatives see a liberal name on the bill with McCain and just reject it for that reason only. I won't fall into that trap.

Part II
McCain-Kennedy - So what if it IS amnesty, its amnesty with a punishment, which is more than Ronald Reagan himself did. In any case, the devil is in the details of any immigration reform plan. Romney's website says he "rejects amnesty." That, however, is not a policy. In my mind, to decide if a policy is bad, it needs to be compared against another viable alternative and frankly I don't see one. To deport 12,000,000 people without giving the details is ridiculous. How is going to happen? Secret Police? Checkpoints? Does that sound American to you? Also, as a true free market conservative, my belief is that these illegals wouldn't be here without a REASON. The reason is that they are needed. George Bush and John McCain realize this. I say figure out a way to control it, control the border, and let the market decide. That is the true conservative position, and its McCain's. |

McCain-Leiberman -We've grown fat and lazy in this country. Our inventiveness has been stunted by our comfort in the status quo. We can all go to the gas station, fill up our cars, and go wherever we want. Whether humans have caused global warming or not is beside the point. While I am all for small government, there are certain things that only government can do and that is to LEAD!. The market won't do this by itself. Sometimes the choices are hard. As an example, I will use Ronald Reagan as an example and his leadership on the Strategic Defense Initiative or SDI. Everyone thought he was insane. He led private industry to create this system. It awakened the inventiveness of the American Free Market. The benefits of that initiative go beyond simply patriot missiles. That effort trickled down into every aspect of the american economy. The government can lead us steering toward some behaviors and away from others. After that the market will find a way.
The same can be said about Global Warming and Energy Independence. The leader of the free world needs to wake up the inventiveness of the American People and at the same time, incentivize the right behavior and de-incentivize the wrong. We need to promote clean technology and energy independence in a meaningful way or we will fall behind the rest of the world. Sounds like a conservative idea to me.
Should we drill in Anwar? I don't know, but in the end it will only delay the inevitable and make the American Economy suffer in the long run.
