...praise or appease the anti-American despot and vilefully bash all things Christian, conservative or Republican - so predictably pathetic.
At least the Neo Commies are a useful tool to keep conservatives politically engaged. Their in-your-face insulting generates more political fervor than the Republican party does at present. So, keep it up, Kosrades. |

Hugh,
You left Jimmy Carter off the distinguished lecturer schedule.

I agree with Mr. Hewitt...all self respecting Columbia University Alumni should STOP giving money to whatever part of the university they are graduated from. If enough alums put pressure on the deans of their respective schools, then the deans could pressure Bollinger to stopping this madness before it takes place on Monday. I for one will not be inclined to donate to Columbia, where I went to graduate school. |

The US has a huge military presence in Iraq and occupies Iraq. Ahmadinejad is the leader of Iran, a muslim country right next door to Iraq, an admittedly failed state. There is a logic here: does Iran have an interest in the fate of its muslim neighbor?
The US is the most powerful country in the world and seems intent on pursuing a military policy in Iraq. Yet, even General Petraeus doubts the war in Iraq is winnable, even if we stay forever.
What would you do?

Reason with them... it drives them batty! |
|
Do you clowns know how silly you look, getting your panties all in a twist over this?
Nobody cares about this other than mindless fox news viewers that are afraid to leave their homes. |

Ahmadinejad is the PRESIDENT of Iran, acknowledged worldwide as a Head of State, even if hand picked by the Ayatollah, the Supreme Leader.
While the Ayatollah controls the regular military and can declare war, Ahmadinejad appoints the ministers of the military, (read oontrols the bureaucracy and day-to-day operations) and controls the secondary military, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is the REAL oppressive power in Iran, and its nefarious subgroup militia, the Basij. Through corrupt funding, he has made these people rich, and they are the ones funding and training and equipping jihad throughout the Middle East, including in Iraq where they target Coalition, especially American forces.
Animal Girl's ignorance and naivete are so upsetting. Especially when these facts are so readily available to any literate person. |

..conversation on this subject from yesterday.Hugh has it linked 2-postings above this one. They express far better than I what's wrong with your well-motivated reasoning.Enjoy. |

..I DID read your missive wrong.Apologies.I still think it's hugely wrong to have the little vermin to the campus, but you make valid points. |

Don't toast MY motives, if you read my post, I tried to explore BOLLINGER'S motives. Maybe they are sophomoric, but it appears to have WORKED to get some Americans released from Iranian jails, a step toward released from the country. What I would do if I got within arm's reach of the murderous little guy is unprintable. No one is going to change his world view or values, nor those of Columbia. But since that positive action is unavailable to me and millions of other Americans, we need to THINK of a way to ruin Ahmadinejad's intended propaganda coup. It is not enough to express outrage by innundating Columbia with emails, etc. Railing against an institution for being stupid gets us nowhere. They will just dig in their heels. If, indeed, Bolliger is trying to free Americans from Iranian captivity, there should be thousands of sign-carrying Americans lining the streets around the lecture hall willing to be interviewed by international press about Ahmadinejad's crimes, demanding that European countries that claim to be our friends stop doing billions of dollars of business with Iran, etc. Focus on how this monster being exposed and vulnerable in a Columbia lecture hall can be held up to scrutiny when outside the protective cloister of the US-hating United Nations. See this as a chance to do what the State Department cannot do on the world stage. The American people have a huge and powerful voice. Instead of whining about how academia coddles America-haters of any and all stripes, make this guy look like an impotent twit to his Mullah overlords,Hezbollah clients, Mahdi army clients, etc. In his world, losing face publicly matters. Make him lose face in the belly of the beast - New York, New York. If Columbia has given him a platform he seeks, then make that a scaffold with a nice drop-door floor. |
|
|
Nice to see General Kristol leading the charge on this one too. |
|
All of this ignorance is upsetting.
Ahmadinejad is NOT a head of state.
He has almost no power.
He has zero authority over the military.
He is unable to supply weapons to anyone.
Learn what you are talking about. |
|
to an Islamist Butcher who is currently sponsoring the killing of Americans is Nice Free Society Nonsense.I toast your motives,PA,but they are patently silly when used on monsters. |

President of Columbia Lee C. Bollinger’s Statement About Ahmadinejad's Appearance maintained that one of the conditions was that an equal amount of time be spent answering audience questions, specifically about the very crimes and denials that outrage thinking Americans. Let us see if Bollinger, who proposes to personally participate, can hold Ahmadinejad's feet to the fire, and get him to actually answer a single question.
Bollinger has laid out for us a reason for allowing Ahmadinejad to speak in his Statement on the Release of Dr. Kian Tajbakhsh Sept. 21, 2007: "On behalf of the entire Columbia community, I want to say how relieved we are to hear of Dr. Kian Tajbakhsh's release from prison in Teheran. Months ago, I joined the chorus of voices calling for the government of Iran to free Dr. Tajbakhsh – an alumnus of Columbia's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation working with the Open Society Institute. In recent discussions with the Iranian Mission, I communicated that I would raise his case, among many other issues, directly and publicly if President Ahmadinejad came to speak on our campus. Dr. Tajbakhsh’s belated release on bail should not change our determination to challenge the regime’s record of unjust imprisonment and repression of such scholars, journalists and advocates working for a freer society in Iran – among them one of Columbia’s graduation speakers last year, Nobel Prize-winning human rights advocate Shirin Ebadi." Is it distasteful in the extreme to have him on our soil in any way shape or form? Yes. Can it be used constructively against him and his nefarious regime, given a little thought and effort? Absolutely. |

..and I didn't want to get Hugh's studio all messy. Thus the brass jacketed 9mm instead of the normally preferred .45acp Hollow Point.
LAWriter:Briggsy's right,Dude.Your moral equivalence is stunning.Feith,Rummy AND Ahmaflatuantspitooey=Same.Lemme axe you sumthin',Homes...You're suggesting that Columbia U.would extend an invitation to Rummy??Uh-Huhhhh. BWWAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhH!

James Burnham wrote that liberalism is the ideology of Western suicide. It's ironic that the liberal/feminist/amoral folks who are allowing Mr A to speak, would be the first to be put to the sword when Islam takes over. |
|
Ok, Ahmadinejad is not Hitler. He would accept Jews and Christians and Secularists as brothers, if only they embraced Islam (but of course it must be Shia Islam). Otherwise they have to die.
He is like the Borg.
Osama bin Laden is the same. . . except you have to accept al Qaeda's version of Islam, which includes kissing Osama's. . . well you know.
Thes perverted prophets mean us all harm, but especially Israel and the Jews. Wake up!
|
|
For all those who want to have a conversation with the Iraniac, allow me to suggest that you try the following at your local martial arts studio. Put on pads (if you'd like) and get into the ring. You can talk and converse with the other fellow while he does whatever it is that he wants to do. At the end, you'll both feel like you've accomplished something!
Right? I mean, that's how you'll feel, right? |

roho wrote; ----------------- "...all the 'Neocon Lobby' can do is cry and moan as the big bad wolf of Zion walks right into their beehive and gives them the finger!" -----------------
roho, I realize you feel contempt for Israel, but do you still believe it is fair to characterize Ahmadinejad as evil ? |
|
Yes, Bill Kristol is a man to be listened to. His socio-economic theories have taken the country to a war based on lies and made the middle east more unstable than ever. Kristol is clearly a psychopath and the fact that the right considers him one of their leading brains reveals the true moral rot at the base of the neo-cons.
As for Ahmadinejad, we should certainly not show the world a true great democracy in action by letting this idiot speak at a forum for all ideas where he would actually be challenged for his statements by Americans.
Meanwhile, Nelson Mandela is still alive. |
|
Kissinger taught at Harvard. Doug Feith teaches at Georgetown.
The US has a long and proud history of warmongers and war criminals speaking and teaching at some of our most respected universities. |
|
The exchange on the radio today between Hugh on one side and Mort and Juan on the other perfectly illustrated the peril we are in. Hugh branded Ahmadinejad a monster on par with Hitler. Mort and Juan agreed and still thought he should be allowed to speak. And here's the clincher... Hugh said because he's a monster we could put a bullet in him rather than let him speak, while Juan advocated conversation. You have to have heard the clip... they argued over whether to kill or converse with a genocidal monster. How stupid and naive and how full of hubris, all at the same time. Converse with a monster!
The lack of moral and martial virtue in our elite classes is truly frightening. |
|
No, no we can't do that one...
But if students must continue attending Columbia, and/or will be present at the lecture or one of it's satellite locations, at least wear a necktie in protest. Amadinejad doesn't wear one as he sees them as symbols of Chrisitianity and so by extension the crusades. I think it would be great if all protesting wore them. |
|

Congress again is trying to shove the "Dream Act" down America's throat, and all the "Neocon Lobby" can do is cry and moan as the big bad wolf of Zion walks right into their beehive and gives them the finger!.....The Big Harvard Warriors could care less about border security as their "SANCTUARY" is being invaded by the Persian King........"Just don't hurt our cheap labor!" |
|
9mm? You are going soft.... Hit the fool with some hollow-point .45 at least.
Red menace....if heads of state are welcome, we missed out chance to use the new tea cozies when Hitler and Tojo were in power. Shucks.
Well, I hear Kim Sung Il makes great kimchi, and Chavez is a gas at the bottom of the Jose Cuervo.... Let's give 'em a call. Just check their suitcases VERY closely....! |
|
"Bill Kristol is absolutely correct: No self-respecting student or professor should set foot inside that hall."
Ah yes, Bill Kristol has spoken. Can you at least not quote a liberal neocon? How about we hear what a real conservative like Ron Paul has to say?
Come on Hugh, when are you gonna come out of that liberal big business closet you're hiding in and join us in the real world with the real folks.
How about posting something about that amnesty bill congress is trying to pass. You should if you think that people should coinsider you a conservative representative who cares about what the citizens of this country think. But I guess your silence speaks volums, you liberal big business sell out! |
|
World.I'm curious why you--or anybody else--has"to listen"to Bill every day? Also curious...Millions of "Iraqis without a country"? "Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians"...uh...Harry Reid..? ...Saddam's death pits..?
Who,pray tell us,tied you down daily and made you listen to that nefarious neocon Kristol? |
|

Steven's commenting here? This is better than an Elvis sighting! Can I have an autograph? You rock, Steven! |

The Iraniac is going to take them apart. College students vs. a master propagandist? It's going to be a train wreck. |
|
|
Ahmadinejad is a world leader, and in my view, a very bad guy. But what he says may be important. Then again, William Kristol is the world's most vocal proponent of the war in Iraq, which has cost the lives of thousands of Americans, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians, and left millions of Iraqis without a country. Yet we have to listen to him every day. |
|
|
All we can hope is they will be mau mauing the flak catchers. |
|
|
Ahmadinejad is a Jihadi-Marxist and he will speak to his brethren the Secular Marxists at Columbia University. He will go address the U.N. and see a green glow around the crowd and no one will even blink among his Marxist commrads. Haven't any of you read "The Revelation" or a current newspaper that shows the outline of it? |
|
It really needs some fleshing out...
How about the following to "warm up the room":
David Duke Lyndon LaRouche Ron Paul and the original "John 3:16" guy from football games.
Ooops. Sorry about the last one... I realize he probably wouldn't be welcome on campus... |
|
they will probably welcome him as a hero at Columbia.
|
|
..and dialogue like this:
HH:"So,President Ahmadspitooey, how do you square mass murder with that ridiculous Ralph Lauren suit?"
Mark Steyn:"Hugh, first let me interrupt with this for 'Spitooey(9mm Gunfire heard closs range)and whilst I'm at it,let me add(More 9mm shots heard and splattering Persian flesh)...Now Hugh, please continue."
HH:"...Uh...Tomorrow on Hugh Hewitt we'll be interviewing Iran's Mullahs.Once again,Mark Steyn will supply another Steyn-ian point of view."
Okay...OKaaaay....OKKAAAAAYYYY...I have my dreams. |
|

Jimbo has it right; this is a dream scenario for the Left. We need to have a "conversation" with the terrorists. All we need is "understanding". All guys like Amedidijad know is that our naive mindset is what gives them an advantage toward their goal of ruling the world and destroying the west. |
|
And yes the room will be packed with adoring hordes. What does that tell us?
The clock struck 13 o'clock. Everyone loved big brother.
|
|
...and the Iranian leader will go home to plot more American deaths, Israeli destruction, and nuclear bomb making.
That's how usefull listening, diplomacy, and useless negotiating are. |
|
|
Yikes, Mr Den Beste, the godfather of all bloggers reads us. We are truly honored to have you here, sir. |
|
The room will be packed, only a few questions will challenge the Iranian terrorist, and everyone will go home thinking how wonderful free speech and exchange of ideas are. Their guilty conscience won't disturb their sanctimoniousness. Dennis Prager is right: They'll hear the condemnation heaped on them, provide precious PR for a terrorist, and then self-congratulate themselves on how evolved and sophisticated they are--they are, after all, the people who place magical properties to diplomacy, listening, and process.
They'll think: if we can listen respectfully to this terrorist, then everyone else should be able to do so also. We are the model of the new world order. What they don't realize is that he would gladly bomb them to death if he had a legitimate opportunity. |
|
|
You know full well the place will be packed. A shame, but that's how it will be. |
|
Fools!
If this Iranian killer would call off ALL his dogs in the Middle East, stop supplying weapons to AQI and insurgents, and step down his manufacturing of nuclear bombs, OUR TROOPS could come home.
Lefty nut-roots - you want the troops home - IRAN holds the key. It is no longer Bush's fault or Bush's war. It is IRAN's war. They could stop it tomorrow.
Without IRAN, AQI in Iran is a thug street gang in Detroit.
Get with the program Williams and Mort. All this is a gargage for the Iranian regime. |

current students should transfer out. Nothing like tuition dollars departing to get an administrations attention. I hear Hillsdale is a nice school... |
