I Bet Bob Barr has Never Been in a Movie ...
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 4:44 PM
Jake Tapper makes a good point about the "celebrity" ad:

Which presidential candidate hosted Saturday Night Live (hint -- the musical guests were The White Stripes)?

Which one had cameos on "24" and "Wedding Crashers"?

Whose wife secretly got her pilot's license and owns a jet?

Who is pals with Warren Beatty?

Whose daughter is friends with Heidi from MTV's The Hills?

Whose wife once told Vogue, explaining the purchase of a 7th or 8th house, this one a beach house, "When I bought the first one, my husband, who is not a beach person, said, 'Oh this is such a waste of money; the kids will never go. Then it got to the point where they used it so much I couldn't get in the place. So I bought another one.”

Whose family credit cards have been known to ring up more than $500,000 in charges in one month?

Clearly, McCain has never enjoyed the level of hero worship that Obama now receives from his "fans".  Still, the fact that he was once a bit of a celebrity, himself, does make it more difficult for him to use this as a cudgel.  Similarly, the fact that McCain has referred to the media as his "base" makes it more difficult for him to cry foul over the media's glowing coverage of Obama ...

Come on Wedding Crashers was funny
I also know Bob Barr and Barack Obama did not serve years being tortured in a prison in Hanoi as a POW. So to the extent Mac married well and is well known, more power to him.

Bob Barr has some substance to his career. But Bob Barr is not going to win the White House, so let's focus on Barack Obama.

The point about the celebrity ad is to focus on the hype about Barack Obama without a lot of substance to back it up (hence the references to talentless Paris Hilton and wasted talent has been Britney Spears). It was not an attack on celebrity per se, but the lack of underlying foundation to justify Barack Obama being the next President of the United States.

Kimbicile you again miss the point
The point that there is no substance to Obama's celebrity, much like Paris Hilton (who has no talent other than vapid self promotion) and Brittney Spears (who had talent but wasted it). Now, Barack Obama has more substance than those two, but the McCain ad was fine.

But the mainstream media is starting to catch on about Barack Obama's vanity. http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NDk0NGZkZTQwOTRiN WZiZjhhNDNlY2ZjZWEyMjNhZDY=

Obama lost his Mojo?

Because Nobody Cares About Bob Barr
and he'll be lucky to break 1%.

McCain is a celebrity because he is a genuine American hero with a compelling personal story. He'll remain such whether he's the next President or not. The fact that he also has a great sense of sarcastic humor make him a perfect fit for SNL and other cameos.

This deal about "the media being his base" -- how old is that already? Isn't it time to get over it? Isn't McCain 2008 MORE conservative and BETTER than McCain 2000? Are "real conservatives" really THAT sensitive, that they hold near decade-long grudges over what Obama might call overheated rhetoric?

As for Barr, I liked him better when he fought against gay marriage instead of apologized for it, and tried to get things done as a Republican.

Basically, I liked Barr better when he had a job. Now, he's just a humourless joke!

What do you think of this op-ed in the Wall Street Journal today called: "Is McCain Stupid?"

online.wsj.com/article/SB121745962594698731.html?mod =todays_columnists

McCain is like a nude beach. If you want to attract business, better to let people use their imagination than to show pictures. Since McCain's plan is to win by forfeit, better that he keep a low profile because the media LOVES covering him and I have a feeling that it is because covering his "straight talk" gaffes does for his campaign what ads featuring nude fat women with cottage cheese thighs do for nude beaches.

You lose. Barr had a speaking role in
"Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan."
