Left-Sided Tolerance?

As Hugh Hewitt notes below, another radical, race-baiting reverend has been hand-in-glove with Barack -- this time, it's a white priest by the name of Michael Pfleger.
The reporting on Pfleger casts a new and disturbing light on Barack Obama. It had been my belief that his relationship with Jeremiah Wright might well have been forged through his wife, who seems to share Wright's dark vision of America -- especially because everyone knows that a clergyman doesn't marry a couple and then baptize their children unless the wife/mother is very comfortable with him.
But Pfleger is a whole other story, and it suggests, disturbingly, that Barack either agrees with -- or is all too willing to tolerate -- radical racial hate speech from the left. It's clear that Barack has accepted contributions from Pfleger, accepted his endorsement (although James Taranto reports that the campaign has since suppressed it) and directed a whole lot of Illinois taxpayers' money to Pfleger's projects.
No doubt Barack will tell us that he supported Pfleger's good works, not his radical race-baiting. OK; there's a way to test that claim. Has Barack sought to support any good works by conservative pastors with whom he disagrees?
Or does his tolerance for ideas he claims he doesn't share extend only to the left side?

Those of us who live in the Chicago are have known Father Fleger for years.
To clarify a few things. He is not a pastor at the United Trinity Church. He's a Catholic preist who works out of Saint Sabinus. He's been very vocal in the African American community about issues such as gun violence, tobacco marketing, and even how high school sports are organized to exclude black schools from certain leagues. In short, the guy's kind of a pain in the neck.
Despite that, he's very well-regarded in the Chicago Media because of the things he's done. Mind you, this is the same Chicago Media that knew about Wright for years and didn't say anything, but were happy to dig around through Jack Ryan's divorce files to see if Seven of Nine said anything bad about him. |
|
But it will never be asked so long as Obama stays couched in the liberal media's loving arms.

Obama should "disown" and "disassociate" himself from TUCC. Do they really think by doing that Obama wipes the slate clean? That's all it takes to garner favor with the majority of the American public and get votes? |

sloandog:
I agree with you entirely. I noticed the crowds in the Wright tapes. In one sermon, Wright repeatedly screamed at the congregants, "Turn to your neighbor and tell him the government lies!" Over and over again. I thought I was going to puke.
The7Sticks:
I agree with you adamantly as well. McCain's problem was seeking two clowns out. As a practical matter, why does he feel the need to get such endorsements? Send the congregations a tape of Jeremiah Wright. Those people are certainly not going to vote for Obama. And I really can't see them sitting at home in protest. The far-right can complain all it wants, McCain is the only thing between Obama and the White House.
And Obama ain't fit to serve. |

Has Obama returned this priests donations yet? Also, will he re-distribute all the tax payer money that was given to this joke who is an activist pretending to be a 'man of the cloth'? Does Obama have ANY DESCENT PASTORAL FRIENDS or is everyone linked to him and his religion anti-american and full of hatred? Actually, it is against his religion to treat all people equally. Why? it's the Black Liberation Theology i.e. without any pre-qualifications PUT BLACKS AND AFRICA FIRST! Now we know the rest of the story. |

and Obama did his best to avoid all these race-baiting, angry, racist and anti-american leaders who seem to reside and co-exist in perfect union with black panthers and the Obama's but could not avoid them because - he was organizing their vision for america while preparing to run for POTUS so that they could have their voice heard in the whitehouse. This is the 'change' we have been waiting for. This is 'our time'. We are going to 'turn the page'. We are going to show the world that 'yes we can' give these leftist visionaries a voice in the highest office in the land. We will do so by changing the rules to accomodate a 'fixed' nominee for the democrats then call all other people who are opposing him racist hoping to scare them to the polls to vote for the MOST UNQUALIFIED, INEXPERIENCED, FOREIGN-INFLUENCED MAN to run for office. And how is McCain's age and issue? Given his wrap sheet and jive talking, Obama is a JOKE IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION PROCESS - common americans, it's time to pick a president. |

It seems to me a bad idea to pursue any endorsement or contribution from any church on the left or right by any presidential candidate, whether it's Hillary, Obama or McCain. If anything, they should be advancing the idea that the United States government must always remain secular in order to preserve our liberties. Why can't they just pursue the endorsements of the ACLU or Americans United for Seperation of Curhc and State? Or better yet, why not pursue Bill Maher's endorsement? If anyone is better defender for the people against religious influence of the government, it's Bill Maher. |

that bother me so much,it's the reaction of the congregation seem rather festive, wouldn't you agree. Now how could you belong to that church for 20yrs and not get caught up in all that fun? |

Phleger reminds us of three things:
1. He and the current Trinity pastor are continuing (though for now, minor) problems for Obama.
2. Obama's continued membership in that church is a problem for him.
3. Wright and Obama's past membership in that church are problems that he'll have pinned to his forehead until the election.
With regard to Phleger, he said, in part:
“These words are inconsistent with Senator Obama’s life and message, and I am deeply sorry if they offended Senator Clinton or anyone else who saw them.”
Why do people like him issue these non-apology apologies? There’s no repentence involved when he says he’s sorry “if” someone was offended. It’s a juvenile game they play. Hagee pulled the same stunt with his apology to a Catholic organization, but that organization accepted it anyway, presumably to get the matter out of the papers. But the point is the arrogant insincerity.
Beyond that, the question now is whether Obama wants to pin Trinity to his forehead too. When he ditched Wright, he said he was staying (clinging to?) with the church and he lauded Wright’s successor. I've read and have heard where the successor isn’t much different from Wright. I’d say it’s time for the press to begin pressing Obama about his continued membership at this church. If McCain were a 20-year MEMBER in a comparable white church, he’d be booted from the race in disgrace.
This is an extraordinary double standard.

Harvey Korman has passed away. What an awesome comedic actor he was. |

The PC campaign to confuse issues through obfuscation has always been skewed left. We must tolerate every deviant, but they don't have to put up with normal. |
|
if Pfleger were sincere in his apology that he would have apologized privately to Hillary and Bill on the 25th when he gave the "sermon" and then issued a public apology rather than waiting 4 days?
When exactly did Obama bump the guy from his campaign? After he made this "sermon" or prior? |

Barack's church is full of looney tunes. Hopefully, like the Klan, once exposed, many will feel ashamed enough to change once they come out of their trance. Let's not beat a dead horse though. |
