Establishment Tries to Stop Flake Appointment

Most conservatives who are serious about earmark reforms, including yours truly, support Jeff Flake to fill the vacant spot on the Appropriations Committee.
However, a reliable source tells me Rep. Marilyn Musgrave has been "encouraged" to run in order to prevent the House Republican Steering Committee from having to pick Flake.
The hope is that Musgrave will be viewed as sufficiently conservative enough to serve as a consolation prize.
This, of course, is merely a ploy. Real conservatives who care about fiscal discipline should settle for nothing less than Jeff Flake on the Appropriations Committee.

The FOOT SOLDIER TRAITOR'S YELLA...he won't debate Romney!
Tim Russert couldn't get McCain to stand up & debate Romney, yet Romeny enthusiastically agreed to do so!
Last night Sean Hannity asked Romney to debate McCain & once again, confident Mitt enthusiastically agreed!
HEY FOOT SOLDIER TRAITOR, WE'RE WAITING FOR YOU'RE ANSWER...ARE YA YELLA? |
The Foot Soldier will never woo me...he's a lib hiding in the Republican Party. In 2001...McCain seriously considered leaving the Republican Party! Kerry.....John Kerry has been "audibly" quoted that "his (McCain's) people have contacted my (John Kerry's) people about being my running mate"! Sarandaon.Susan Sarandon absolutely "loves McCain". Coulter...Ann Coulter told Hannity & Colmes she'd vote for Hillary instead of McCain..."he's a dangerous man"! Colmes asked her if this was an endorsement & she said "yes, if McCain becomes the nominee. I'll even campaign for her. McCain's more liberal than even Hillary".
RALLY TO ROMNEY CONSERVATIVES! DON'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOOSING OUR PARTY...LET'S NOT LOOSE AN OPPROTUNITY TO HAVE A WONDERFUL PRESIDENT!!! |

I whole heartedly agree that Rep. Flake has stood for far too many things that conservatives find abhorrant but he is the earmark kings and queens worst nightmare. I don't want him as President but on the appropriations committee he would represent fiscal conservatives. |
Flake has voted against No Child Left Behind and the Homeland Security Act, while joining John McCain and Jim Kolbe in sponsoring bills to increase legal immigration and establish a guest worker program. He has expressed interest in abolishing the U.S. Department of Education.
Flake co-sponsored the legislation in the House that mirrored the amnesty bill in the Senate. So much for fiscal discipliine.
Are there any real conservatives left? |

Isn't this the same Jeff Flake that has been trying to push amnesty down our throats for quite some time. Sorry, just like John McCain, you lose any claim to being a fiscal conservative with your support of amnesty and the 2.6 trillion dollar price tag it will bestow upon future American taxpayers. |

Matt Lewis wants us all to support the candidate who voted against the Bush tax cuts (uh, TWICE !), voted against drilling in ANWAR, supports the estate tax, wants to tax the economy in order to fight "global warming," thinks pharmaceuticals are "bad guys," was the ringleader of the Gang of 14, authored McCain-Feingold, hugs Teddy Kennedy yet tells Senator Cornyn to go "F---" himself, and blatantly lies on national television about what Mitt Romney said about withdrawing from Iraq.... yet at the same time, Lewis recommends we all rise up with pitchforks in hand and wear Indian disguises like the Boston Tea Party and tell those darn squishy Republican moderates in Washington that we'll never compromise on what "real conservatives" should do !
That's classic. |

That was great sparky. I have given up on donating to the RNC, and all the other Republican bodies. I only donate to candiates I support. However, in the future when they call I will use that line. I haven't totaly given up on supporting the party, but I won't be donating until the party starts to support me again. |

The RNCC called me right after the State of the Union speech and asked for money. I told them that they are wasting our money but that they could call me back when they put Jeff Flake on the Appropriations Committee. I don't think they were impressed but it made me feel better. |

an email requesting that she support Rep. Flake for this position. http://musgrave.house.gov/Contact/
While I believe Rep. Musgrave to be a good legislator, I believe Rep. Flake would be best for this vacant position. |
wouldn't it be nice for him to push for Flake's spot on the Appropriations Committee! |
TownHall columnists often speak of real conservatism, while the GOP voters pick the other candidates. Maybe conservatism is being redefined away from this narrow protectionism for the assets of the rich. |
I can posture and grandstand with empty gestures every bit as well as McCain but I'm assuming you want results. What exactly do you want us to do about it? |
If real conservative should settle for nothing less than Jeff Flake on the Appropriations Committee(and I agree with you on this point) then why should those same real conservatives settle for John McCain as their nominee for President?
