Race Pits "Green River Killer" Sheriff vs. Net-Roots Activist
Posted by: Matt Lewis at 1:37 PM

The man who helped catch the "Green River Killer" versus a Net-Roots Activist who wants to get out of Iraq now ... That's the decision voters in Washington state's eight's Congressional district will make this November.

This past Friday, I had the opportunity to interview Congressman Dave Reichert (WA-8th) about his upcoming congressional race against Darcy Burner (D), a liberal whom Mother Jones described as, "a former Microsoft middle manager who is taking her second run at Congress ..."

Burner is using her "get out of Iraq now" message -- as well as her new-age internet and technological capabilities -- to fuel her candidacy against Reichert.

WHEN IT COMES TO EXPERIENCE, Darcy Burner is no match for Reichert -- a highly qualified second-term congressman who carries with him years of unique experience in law-enforcement.

While there are plenty of career politicians and lawyers in Congress, Reichert is most well known for being the King County Sheriff who helped track down the infamous "Green River Killer," a cold blooded murderer who willing admitted to having killed 48 women.

His 2004 book "Chasing the Devil: My Twenty Year Quest to Capture the Green River Killer," details the cat-and-mouse struggle to catch the man who terrified much of the Pacific Northwest for decades.  In the process, Reichert even traveled to Florida to interview serial killer Ted Bundy, in order to gain insight into the killer he was investigating.

While Reichert is well-known and highly qualified, it is certainly not unheard-of for a tech savvy liberal -- who opposes the Iraq war -- to summon enough support to oust an incumbent ... especially in a tough district and a Democratic year.  Everyone remembers Sen. Joe Lieberman's historic Connecticut primary senate race against Ned Lamont, a tech savvy cable television executive.  This race looks to be close.

The focal point of our discussion was not to discuss his illustrious past (which, believe me, is fascinating), it was to discuss his future as a Congressman. Reichert mentioned that that his tenure in Congress has "opened his eyes on many issues" and has helped him "develop stronger opinions on issues of the utmost importance."

Reichert's interest in Townhall.com speaks to his appreciation for the internet and how it affects the voters in this day and age.  Reichert plans to begin a web-driven ad campaign soon.   He represents a high-tech district and wants to engage in more tech-savvy communications.

With Obama surging in Washington State, he will need every ounce of support he can muster.  Stay tuned...
