I would recommend you first read Cos's book. Read Michael Eric Dyson's book on Cosby. Next check out his comments on systemic racism he uttered on MTP. Finally, look at the commentary Earl Ofari Hutchinson wrote on Mr. Cosby and his message.
This may destroy your blind worship of Dr. Huxtable. Dr. Cosby may be a conservative, but he happens to be wrong on several issues, just like the GOP.

I hope that people will let his message speak for itself rather than try to politicize it to buttress their position on issues. His message while primarily directed toward the black community offers sage advice for members of every other community in how to raise a good kid. |

I am totally confused on this issue. How could anyone, black or white, object to the message Bill Cosby is presenting?
I see a common theme; if a black man, or woman, becomes successful; they suddenly are not "black enough". I was talking to one of my former high school classmates (who is black), and she was telling me why she believed the story about Condoleezza Rice sleeping with President Bush. She explained to me, how else could a black woman reach the heights she had reached, unless she was sleeping with the master?
I was stunned. I would have thought my friend would have been defending Rice against the untruths and slams against Rice. My friend went on to explain that Blacks resent other Blacks when they make it to the "Big House" and they are left in the fields.
It is pretty obvious to me that as long as Blacks look up to gangsters and drug dealers -- "the players" -- and put down successful blacks that have pulled themselves to the top, there will never be reform in the black neighborhoods. As long as they cheer on the "LOSERS" and boo the "WINNERS" who is going to want to become booed? They are even clamoring that Obama is not black enough, and his popularity is beginning to fall.
The sooner black leaders support the message Bill Cosby is bringing forth, the sooner racial equality is going to be realized. As long as Blacks listen to the messages of Sharpton, Jackson, and other race-baiters, the longer they will be entrenched in the ghetto lifestyle.
Even if a drug dealer got nominated to run for president, as soon as he agreed he would live in the "Big House" he would then be considered "not black enough" and he would be ostracized from the black community.

As a black male it must be said that Cultures not of African Americans should note: Bill Cosby, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and many others do not speak or represent all black America.
I like many others would like to know when did Mr. Cosby get his new leaf on life.
Many black Americans remember the black hustle, get the money, be cool brother, just get yours man movies that were made.
Black movies that exploited black Americans were made and played by Mr. Cosby and so many righteous brothers. We fill a little hypocrisy...don't you?
Mr. Cosby has open up a debate which is good. But don't trample on the black culture and the young black youth without speaking of the great progress that’s been made just to sell your book.

Black people have been voting DEM for how long and look where it has got you and who do you blame REPUBLICANS what a shame. If you want to be kept on the plantation them thats a decision only the BLACK PEOPLE can decide. I remember when I retired from the Military after 22 years that I went to a DEM Party Center in my local neighborhood to help out and there was 2 I repeat myself 2 things that they wanted me to do. 1. Tell the old people that if they vote for REPS that they will take your SS checks from you and 2. Tell the Black people that the Reps will burn crosses in your yards and churches if you vote REP. Now I dont know about you but I wouldnt do it so they told me to go home and not come back. Now the DEM party is suppose to be mainly for the People but Im afraid that with the Urgency to get elected the Politicians will say and do anything to be elected no matter what is in front of their names (D) or (R) doesnt matter. What has this great country of ours come to? Just seen where a African American man became Governor of LA, wonder how long it will take the Drive By Media to deface another Black Man for becoming successsful. |
