I did, though, get into a rather rousing discussion with a group of idiots carrying signs saying Bachman Care will Kill Us. Such phrases as "fascist," "unAmerican," and "Constitution haters" were bandied back and forth. Good time had by all. |

In addition to that, the Pledge contradicts itself. It says the nation is "indivisible", but then claims "liberty...for all."
If the nation is indivisible, then it means there is no right of secession. If there is no right to secede, then it means that the government owns us and all we claim to possess. There is no social contract, per Locke, only a one-way agreement where the government deigns to allow us some measure of activity unmonitored by itself.
Think about our original War for Independence; it was a war of secession from the British Empire. |
