Jeri is so Very ...

MKH notes my "catty" post on Jeri.
One of the things that made this post most interesting to me is that the people being critical of her were all men.
Not to sound sexist, but I would probably be a bit more skeptical of a woman who told me something negative about Jeri.
But when three men tell me they are offended by her, it strikes me that this isn't a case of cattiness, but of a person (male or female) who rubs people the wrong way ...

I am male, over 60, with a history of resenting strong, pushy women. Jeri does not fit that mold. You obviously have decided you like another candidate and you are looking for things to criticize about the candidate you don't like. I was very impressed with Jeri's demeanor and intelligence in the Hannity interview. I was even more impressed with her sense of priorities. More especially, I am impressed with Fred Thompson and hope he gets the nomination. Rudy will be a disaster. Romney: who knows. Which Romney. 2007 Romney or 1997 Romney? |
|
the fact that right-wing males are afraid of women being in control, thus their rampant hateful whining and moaning about Hilary.
Your party is toast, and it's about GD time!

Wow, you found a whole 3 people who were turned off by her? Well, that settles it then!
Seriously, you came off as a total hack in your article. Did you only talk to 3 people, or did you simply cherry-pick and quote the three anonymous people who were turned off by her? |

Hell must have frozen over, pigs must be flying, and Rosie O'Donnell must have been caught making out with a man if And/But/So and I are in agreement on something for the first time in recorded history.
And/But/So makes the excellent, incisive point when he writes; ------------------- "I don't know what is more comical: the fact that Matt is congratulatorily parsing the 'most interesting' parts of his own previous blog-twaddle as if it were the Dead Sea Scrolls; or his suggestion that women can't be trusted to judge other people (presumably because all that estrogen gives them the vapors!), whereas three MEN couldn't possibly be wrong." --------------------
Wow, now that's a devastating punch ! If this were a Tom & Jerry cartoon, Matt Lewis would be knocked out flat on his back with birds chirping and stars flashing over his head.
I can't believe Matt actually wrote that he would be more skeptical about anecdotes given by a woman. (Matt works in the same office as Mary Katharine Ham and Katie Favazza---they seem to be very reliable witnesses to me, despite their 'lady parts' as And/But/So says.) Matt assumes that all women are in a catty "Melrose Place" competition with other women---particularly with other women who happen to be very attractive, such as Jeri Thompson. Maybe that's just Freudian projection on Matt's part, since he himself has proven to be so catty toward a debonair guy by the name of Mitt Romney.
A lot of men's egos are easily offended if an attractive woman doesn't pay them as much attention as they'd like, so it's quite possible that these Thurston Howell III types are whining because they feel 'jilted' that Jeri didn't fawn over them.
And even if the anecdotes are 'accurate,' it's kind of shady to write a blog post which simply says, "Anecdotal evidence suggests that candidate X's wife is not the most gregarious, charming woman on planet." |
|
I agree with One Hot! (A first...)
Actually, I would do him one better. Matt's FIRST post on Jeri was garbage. But this second one is high comedy.
The piece de resistance? This: "One of the things that made this post most interesting to me is that the people being critical of her were all MEN."
I don't know what is more comical: the fact that Matt is congratulatorily parsing the "most interesting" parts of his own previous blog-twaddle as if it were the Dead Sea Scrolls; or his suggestion that women can't be trusted to judge other people (presumably because all that estrogen gives them the vapors!), whereas three MEN couldn't possibly be wrong.
Hey Matt, the proof you are wrong is right here in front of us. MKH is a real blogger, and gets on the TV, and stuff, even with the whole "lady parts" business. She writes with humor, sophistication, and insight. By comparison, you are bush-league. You are just a bench-warmer, gunning for the still-warm shotgun seat Dean left behind in Hugh's car... |
|
Matt,
Your post on Jeri Thompson is garbage.
|
|
it is not so much her that rubs people the wrong way, it is the fact that she is 15 YEARS younger than he is.
he was probably graduated from law school when hse was born.
it is just plain wierd and creepy.
but hey, that is hollywood for you right. |

Why does a comment about a woman always boil down to accusations like yours? Jeri Thompson seems to have no political acumen judging from her actions. Get over it. You don't see Anne Romney making those kind of mistakes do you? It's not about her gender. |
|
"But when three men tell me they are offended by her, it strikes me that this isn't a case of cattiness, but of a person (male or female) who rubs people the wrong way ..."
Or it could be three men who don't like the idea of a strong ambitious REPUBLICAN woman.....
Really Matt, if you are objective you take this kind of junk with a large grain of salt.

portlandmom/pam in disguise?
just wonderin'. |
|
because she inserted herself into Fred's campaign by contolling things, and doing a bad job at that.
The candidate's wives are part of the campaigning, but we should not expect perfection of them in the same way we do the candidates. Although if we did, Anne Romney would win hands down.

...post has not changed- neither will my comment.
Ex-tex writes: Thursday, October, 18, 2007 9:57 AM Are you KIDDIN' ME??! Son, you need to learn to fight like a grown-up. All this below the belt 'stuff' that you print about Jeri and Fred is reflectin' REAL badly on your man Mitt.
Stop it or you're gonna lose most all'a your audience.
**by the way- did you change the original title? |

Thanks TCJ, because this bears repeating:
"The only person rubbing someone the wrong way here is you. Wow... Did anyone say they didn't like her hair too? Oh No! She spoke to someone in the back of a hall while Rudy was speaking and a self important person doesn't get their hand shook becase her hands were full and... (Sigh). This deserves serious discussion?
Nope, this is schoolyard nonsense. And if it isn't beneath you, it should be.
Bottom line: Leave the candidate's wife alone."
Listen up Matt. |

I found a great site that handles criticism of Jeri in a ladylike manner.
I would hate to see what JeriGirls.com would do with your sniping, Matt.
They will probably offer you a martini before they scratch your eyes out.
I am not so ladylike so I will say that your sniping snark belongs best in a grocery store gossip rag. |
