Congratulations, Senator McCain
Posted by: Carol Platt Liebau at 9:57 PM
John McCain has won the nomination, and is making a speech that implicitly acknowledges that this may be the best chance he gets for many months to come to make his case to the American people in his own words.

I haven't been a fan of John McCain's.   Campaign finance "reform" has been a travesty for the First Amendment, the immigration "reform" he offered was execrable, his work with the Gang of 14 and on terrorist detainees has been deserving of criticism.

But with all his faults, he is the only candidate remaining in this race who really understands the stakes in the war on terror, and the only one who's prepared and willing to make the tough decisions that will be required to defeat the Islamofascists.  Anyone who has insisted that there are real differences between Democrats and Republicans when it comes to the war on terror -- and who believes it's vital not only to our security but to the future of the free world that we win -- has no choice but to join McCain's cause.

Yeah really
If ballots are so dangerous that we might make a suicidal choice, maybe they should be banned. Better yet, maybe the GOP should have had a primary season that allowed Republicans to select their own candidate. I'm voting third party and I will sleep well knowing that we are not facing armegedon. We'll be fine. Next time, maybe the GOP elite will listen build a campaign STARTING with the base and working out, not starting with Democrats and then reaching across the aisle to the base.

No Choice? C'mon...
I'm not buying your fear mongering. Contrary to your ridiculous conclusion, we all have choices, and rest assured, I won't vote for John Hussein McCain.

If McCain Wants To Win

It's really up to Sen. McCain. If he wants our votes, he has to earn them.

He said he heard us after the last amnesty fight. He heard two things right. We want the border secured and we don't trust them. There apparently was alot he didn't hear.

He hired Juan Hernandez, who represents foreign nationals illegally in our country as his hispanic outreach, instead of reaching out to someone from "You Don't Speak For Me" a group of citizens of hispanic descent who oppose illegal aliens.

He said a couple of weeks ago he would sign McCain/Kennedy if it were put on his desk.

If he wants my vote, there are a couple of things he could do.
1. Publicly dismiss and disavow Juan Hernandez and the Reconquista for which he stands.
2. Apologize for conspiring in secret with La Raza and Ted Kennedy and trying to jam amnesty down our throats.
3. Pledge to veto ANY amnesty bill.
4. Pledge to enforce the laws, including deportation, which is the penalty for illegal aliens.

It's up to Sen. McCain, he can represent the interests of American citizens and uphold the rule of law or he can continue to court the favor of liberals and illegal aliens.

Sorry McCain
I vote "no" on McCain in November. The Conservative Party is born with this election. Democrat cons are welcome too.

No choice but to join McCain's cause????
Wrong thing to say. There's always a choice.

MaineConservative:
Out of all the posters here, I seem to agree with you most often.

You are right, there is always a choice. I SO wish we had better choices in this election. Right now, I'm just not seeing any.

American political parties have changed substantially since 1789. Perhaps it is time for conservatives to separate themselves from the GOP. Unfortunately, I have not seen a conservative groundswell movement necessary to effect that departure. Since Thompson and Romney dropped out, rather than demanding a voice, most conservatives simply tuned out.

Everything I see indicates too much is at stake to let Obama or Hillary win this election. John McCain has never been my first choice, but he IS not my last choice (And I DESPISE the man).
