Why Romney Isn't Going Away ... For Now

The next two contests are caucuses, not primaries (Washington and Kansas). Romney usually wins caucuses. Let's say he wins them both, that would give him momentum going into Tuesday. I know it's still a long shot, but why get out before next Tuesday? In fact, my bet is that Romney's big decision will be made next Wednesday ...
|
|
The reason Romney should NOT give up is that he will have a new ally going forward - the Democrats and the MSM.
For months the MSM and Dems have been telling us that John McCain is a great patriot and a straight shooter.
Now, not so much. Check this oit from Harry reid today:
McCain Sends 'Chill Down Spine,' Reid Cites Cochran By Josiah Ryan CNSNews.com Staff Writer February 06, 2008
On the Spot (CNSNews.com) - "Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said the possibility of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) becoming president "sends a cold chill down my spine."
Reid made his remarks Tuesday outside the Senate chambers when a reporter asked him about McCain, who is running for the Republican Party nomination for president.
Pulling out his wallet and removing a white piece of paper, Reid told the reporter: "All I have to say about that is this. I have it right here, and you can put it in your little recording devices."
Then, reading aloud, and quoting Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) from an interview last Friday, Reid said: "The thought of him [McCain] being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper, and he worries me." Listen to Audio
Reid then placed the piece of paper back in his wallet and continued taking reporter's questions."
And so begins the CRUCIFIXION of John McCain. I think they are starting a bit early though.

He may stick around longer...speculate all you want! after 4 terrible years under liberals: juan,hillary,obama--mitt is going to look real good ! the guy who has spent most of his career straightening out stupid messes! since the nation knows juan is a habitual liar..and he's leading in the race...what does that tell you about nation!? duh! elvis |

in FL and now in CA, both "closed" primaries, we had 40% MOD/LIB vote. Historically speaking, MOD/LIB vote in a "closed" primary only averages 25%.
That extra 15% threw the race to McCain in both states. In both states we heard about Independents being allowed to vote.
Do you think it is ODD that we have as many MODS/LIBS voting in a "closed" primary as we have voting in "open" primaries? |
|
There's no reason for Romney to throw in the towel yet. He still has the conservative vote, and lots of vocal support. The anti-McCain groundswell is going very strong and not likely to subside any time soon. And a brokered convention is not that hard to imagine - McCain may not get the delegates he needs before that time, if the voting patterns stay the same.
60% of conservatives are still against McCain, and strongly. Romney might still be able to capitalize on that. |
|
After four years of amnesty or the promise of amnesty, how many illegals do you think we will have? 50million? including what, 10 million who have committed crimed beyond immigration?
Somebody stop the invasion. McCain is going to live to be 100 . . . he'll be planning to win the hispanic vote for the next decade, and he's probably got supsension of the constitution in mind to keep it going til then.
I agree with Thad Cochran. This is how they are going to turn the war against McCain. |
|
Nothing McCain can possibly say will make me vote for him. As for comments from Harry Reid - they don't impress me as fact. I see those remarks as fuel to heat up conservatives and get them to back McCain. Cynic that I am , I see any of the three - McCain,Clinton or Obama as a win-win for the Democratic party and their policies. With McCain being a bonus laugh for Democrats privately joke about at conservatives expense for years to come.

FoxNews. Neil Cavuto just asked Huckabee if there was a deal struck between him and McCain in WV to beat Romney by McCain giving Huck all his votes.
Huckabee DENIED THIS (it has already been proven!) and said there was no discussion regarding this at all.
Also, a reporter on the scene testified that Huckabee offered Paul's Supporters 3 National Delegates for their support.
Huck just said he made no deals with Paul Supporters.
Huck is a TOTAL LIAR. |
|
|
I suspect McLame suffring from Bi-olar disorder, One about his Hotheaded temper, he is to irrational a lot times to me to be a president!! |
|
When asked about this Mike Huckabee clearly said that he made no deal with McCain. This is true.
What McCain did is what McCain did, that doesn't mean that Huckabee did anything. If the thing had anything to do with McCain, then it was McCain, and not Huckabee that did it.
If Mitt Romney had benefited from the same thing it would have been regarded as ok. That is part of what most conservatives can't stand about Romney, and that is his hypocritcy. As a liberal elitist it is ok for him to attack and burn bridges and buy votes but as soon as things don't work out for him get ready middle class people to be called bigots by this millionarre, and he will do plenty of liberal style whining. |
|
|
After their West Virginia Collusion yesterday it shows that they are in bed together.. Both are just as bad as the other, I bet you behind closed doors (just like the Amesnty bill) that Mclame offerd Huckleberry the VP for his cooperation. |
|
|
Romney will withraw! Guaranteed! |
|
|
Romney viciously attacks while running against a candidate. Then when Romney is making is fabulous concession speech Romney will speak of unity and party loyality. |
|
grown men and women posting in every thread, whining constantly about their phony boy Mitt.
Lord save us from oily con men like Romney who fool the ignorant GOP masses.
-America comes first- |
|
|
Can you say brokered convention? |
|
He will easily win my state. Seeing that he did well in the midwest on Super Tuesday, there is no reason to think he will lose in Kansas.
Washington has a caucus on Saturday and a primary on the 19th. He will win both and gradually, yet slowly, get back in the ranks. |
|
After Romney lost Iowa, which I am Thankful for, it would have been good for him to realize that this isn't working and withdraw and support some other candidate.
But Romney insisted on staying in, and lost big to McCain in NH. This caused McCain to look like a champion for beating Mitt Romney so badly in Romney's own backyard. This gave McCain momentum which has brought McCain where he is now. So you see if Romney would have withdrawn after Iowa, McCain's victory in NH would not have looked that great.
Except for MI his home state, the only states Romney had really won going into super tuesday were states where there really wasn't much competition. Then in super tuesday Romney went down big time in most of the U.S, especially in conservative states, and Romney lost big time in California which he focused so strongly on.
Please come back to reality people. If you keep trying to run Romney your going to keep getting these same results. For Romney to lose this bad after having the most money, the most spending by far, probably spending more than any presidential candidate in history, having most of the "conservative" media turn their shows into three hour commercials for Romney and Romney still loses big time.
If you want to stop McCain, its not going to be with Romney. McCain beats Romney 9 times out of 10. Normally by big numbers.
Mike Huckabee beat both McCain and Romney in the South, the conservative base. |
|
Check out Oklahoma. Check out Arkansas.
Romney didn't do to well in those states did he?
Kansas will be a two man race between McCain and Mike Huckabee. Hopefully the strong social conservative factor in Kansas will vote for Mike Huckabee.
But rest assured that Romney will only give a win to McCain 9 times out of 10.
If you want conservative morals and values, vote for Mike Huckabee. |
|
quit the race. I've been hearing this all day.
Know what I haven't heard once? A call for Huckabee to quit.
Odd that. Romney has more delegates than Huck. Romney won more states than Huck yesterday but all we hear about is the HUGE WAVE for Huck and ROMNEY'S POOR SHOWING.
MY QUESTION: If Romney is really the guy the Democrats would LOVE to face in November because he would be so easy to beat, why the hell are they so ANXIOUS TO GET RID OF HIM? |
|
|
Go Hillary! You've got it over McCain. The MSM may be singing McCain's praises now, but we all know that is only to ensure that the next President is in fact a liberal. But don't worry; when the time comes, the MSM will turn on McCain like a mad dog on crack. You've got this one in the big, Hillary. You go, girl. |
|
|
Oh, silly me, I meant to say "In the bag." Hillary, this one's for you. |
|
|
Bob Dole's somewhat endorsement of McCain (via the letter to Rush) will seal the fate of Romney. |
|
Tagg Romney is quoted in the NYT saying they are going all the way to the convention. Good for them. McCain is not more acceptable than he was yesterday. He's got 60% of conservatives hotly against him.
Go Romney. |

ONE REASON NOT TO SUPPORT MCLAME
12 Americans daily Death toll in 2006 far overshadows total
U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq, Afghanistan

By Joseph Farah © 2008 WorldNetDaily.com
WASHINGTON ? While the military "quagmire" in Iraq was said to tip the scales of power in the U.S. midterm elections, most Americans have no idea more of their fellow citizens ? men, women and children ? were murdered this year by illegal aliens than the combined death toll of U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since those military campaigns began. Though no federal statistics are kept on murders or any other crimes committed by illegal aliens, a number of groups have produced estimates based on data collected from prisons, news reports and independent research.
Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That's 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.
Total U.S. troop deaths in Iraq as of last week were reported at 2,863. Total U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan during the five years of the Afghan campaign are currently at 289, according to the Department of Defense.

The MSM media is as eager to get Mitt out of the race as McCain supporters are to see Conservatives leave the GOP.
Here in ID, the Dems held their little caucus last night. Obama won big. I was listening to the radio and they asked the State Dem Chairman if he would rather Obama run against McCain or Romney. After hemming and hawing, he finally said (paraphrasing), "Given what I know about Idaho politics, our odds are better against John McCain." I kid you not. In other words, "Idaho is an overwhelmingly conservative state and we would prefer to run against someone conservatives do not like." For what it is worth, Romney is VERY popular in ID.
So, the old "Dems are afraid of McCain" argument turns out to be a massive lie. |

Posting facts like that here will only result in your being labelled a racist by the likes of Mc_Tex.
Just a warning.
Seriously, that is disturbing and eye-opening info. Kudos.

By Glenn Spencer
Could Mexico retake the southwestern United States? Not only are the Mexicans capable, but an invasion is underway, insists immigration expert Glenn Spencer.
Spencer unveils the aims of a radical movement that identifies itself as "America's Palestinians." Their ultimate goal is to reclaim the American Southwest, including California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and parts of Colorado and Texas. Hispanic activists refer to the former Mexican territory as Aztlan, the mythical place of origin of the Aztec people.
But is this merely the irrational scheme of a fringe group? Using original footage, Spencer shows how the pronouncements of Mexican officials and their policies support a reconquest of the Southwest. Perhaps even more importantly, Spencer contends, U.S. immigration policies and lax enforcement are paving the way for this invasion.
Spencer is president of California-based Voice of Citizens Together and host of the popular talk show American Patrol.
In Conquest of Aztlan you'll see how:
Former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo made a de facto declaration of war on the U.S.
The Mexican government helped quash an immigration measure passed by the people of California.
A fifth column of subversives is plotting to recolonize the United States.
Mexican officials prepare citizens to invade the U.S.
Mexican anti-Americanism revealed itself after the Sept. 11 attack.
Immigrants in the U.S. are encouraged to vote in the interests of Mexico.
U.S. policies ultimately are leading to a breakup of the country.

The Third World Invasion and Conquest of America
Pat Buchanan is sounding the alarm. Since 9/11, more than four million illegal immigrants have crossed our borders, and there are more coming every day. Our leaders in Washington lack the political will to uphold the rule of law. The Melting Pot is broken beyond repair, and the future of our nation is at stake.
In this important book, Pat Buchanan reveals that, slowly but surely, the great American Southwest is being reconquered by Mexico. These lands---which many Mexicans believe are their birthright---are being detached ethnically, linguistically, and culturally from the United States by a deliberate policy of the Mexican regime. This is the “Aztlan Plot” for “La Reconquista,” the recapture of the lands lost by Mexico in the Texas War of Independence and Mexican-American War.
Comparing the immigrant invasion of America from across the Mexican border---and of Europe from across the Mediterranean---to the barbarian invasions that ended the Roman Empire, the author writes with passion and conviction that we have begun the final chapter of the Death of the West. Unless the invasion is halted now, Buchanan argues, by midcentury America will be a country unrecognizable to our parents, the Third World dystopia that Theodore Roosevelt warned against when he said we must never let America become a “polyglot boardinghouse” for the world.

Why should the candidate who has the most money withdraw from the race because he loses 1 or 2? Did you call for Hunter, Tancredo, Fred, Rudy or McCain to withdraw after losing Iowa? What made any of them more viable after that state?
You want someone besides Romeny because he what -pointed out the records of Huckabee and McCain? Shocking! Isn't that what you are supposed to do with opponents. Shouldn't you say, "I'm better than John McCain, because He sponsored the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill which gives virtual amnesty to illegal border crossers and did little to stop future border jumpers and I favor a border fence to keep new illegal aliens out and sending illegal aliens home to get in line." That's not slander, that's the record.
Why aren't you calling for Huckabee to get out? He's lost more than Romney, has no money, and has 1/3rd fewer delegates than Romney. Why is his candidacy more viable? They should all just hand it over without a fight accoording to your logic. I think Fred and Rudy should have stayed in longer. Their names are on the ballots. |

Thanks for the warning, I really don't care about Mctex and his socialistic marxist views. |
|
|
It looks like the next round of attacks on the John McCain will be about how Romney's has an "all American family" and John McCain....no so much. Operatives like Matalin make it difficult to even remotely try to understand the far right. They shill for power and claim it's in the name of "principle". If she continues down this road...claiming that 5 whites boys are the "Family" Americans want to see in the WH...I'm afraid it's just beginning to get ugly. |
|
|
married to Carville? Now there's an interesting grouping. |
|
|
Friends lip service is great. Send money to Romney to make it count. |
|
|
Mc Cain voters were effectively eliminated after the first round. Even if they pickep up all the Ron Paul votes in the second round, there was no way they could win. So they had two choices, Romney or Huckabee. If you had a choice between a guy who had been trashing your candidate since the campaign started and a guy that said he respected your guy and was always complimentary, who would you chose? |
|
|
The one that's conservative-Romney. What a stupid question. |
|
McHuck has been consistently spinning lies the whole primary season. It is usually spread right before a vote. Bob Dole did not endorse McHuck. Bob Dole did not criticize Rush Limbaugh. The letter has been read on the air and is available to read. McHuck is lying and spinning just like Bill Clinton. This election is really about illegal immigration. The opposition is throwing everything at us. McHuck is lying about controlling it. The Driveby-dinosaur media is trying to trivialize it. The illegals are voting against us. Wake-up America before it is too late. Romney should fight till the end I know I will. |
