Taking a Powder

Remember Robin Givhan, the once-snarky fashion writer for the Washington Post?

It seems that she'll be taking a powder in the Obama years. Don't expect anything but kudos in days to come, no matter what the new First Lady wears. Givhan did an online chat about Michelle Obama's inauguration dresses, and her usual diet of catty comments was magically transformed into a symphony of purrs when it came to Mrs. Obama's choices. She even included the hoary cliche "Frankly, I think all that matters is that SHE liked what she wore." (Now that's damning with faint praise, if I ever heard it).

Huh. This from a woman who has likened Condoleezza Rice's boots to dominatrix attire and sniped about the clothes of Chief Justice Roberts' children, for heaven's sake. She's harshed on John Bolton, Dick Cheney and Katherine Harris, as well.

Are there different fashion standards, depending upon whether one shares Givhan's political sympathies? You decide . . .

Talk about a train wreck. And her hair looks like it was combed with fish bones. she should really take a look in the mirror. Some nerve.

One of the selected responses (to the silly Wash Post article in the link) gooily gushes.... "I always love your articles. Your Pulitzer proves how great your writing is...!" (I am going to get insulin shock!!!) ===== It's FUNNY (unintentionallY) to read that article & her selected blog comments (wonder if the above quote "I love your articles..." was actually in a note to her...or did she add it to "remind" us - in this fluff article how "great" her writing is???

i thought carol
didn't care about fashionor the politcal leanings of the fashionistas-whoops! I was wrong. I guess all women really do like to play barbie dress up and Carol is no exception. P.s.Condi's sexy go-go boots were the BEST THING about the Bush admin. Cheney had a small oppotunity to help bring back the stetson into fashion but as he spent most of the eight years hiding in a bunker few were able to see his choice of chapeau. Those fine white cowboy hats could have helped raise his favoribility by at least five points.
