You know Andrew Sullivan, who questioned McCain's cross in the dirt story, the Swiftboaters against Kerry (siding with Kerry of course) and who said not a word about John Edwards being qualified to be Veep (John Edwards has less experience than Palin).

Andrew Sullivan is gay and has no children. He has a husband.
But that is not the issue, he is not some diarist at the Daily Kos (not yet anyway). He is a blogger for the Atlantic, which is a very legitimate publication. You do not attack a poltician's children and you do not raise wild rumors and publish them without proof. |

I used to enjoy reading his blog back when he was so good at making the conservative case for limited government. Even back then he was in favor of gay marriage, which I oppose, but I appreciated his well written position and he gave me plenty of food for thought. I also thought it remarkable that he, as a gay man, could find nice things to say about Pat Robertson, something *I* have a hard time doing.
That changed during Bush's first term. He got unhinged and hateful toward "Christianists" (read: evangelicals). It soon became clear that if we were to meet each other, he would dislike me not for who I am, but *what* I am.
And now this. Keep in mind that Governor Palin is an evangelical Christian, which in Sullivan's bigoted mind means "sub-human". So he just doesn't extend to her the common courtesies of human decency that we should expect. It's very sad what has happened to this once gifted man. |

Oh, it's about to get much worse. There's an e-mail circulating that, not only is the daughter the baby's mother, but the FATHER is Palin's son who was sent to Iraq. This, the libs contend, accounts for why the baby has Down's Syndrome, as he was purportedly a product of incest. I have an urge to use a lot of profanity right now, so I'd better go. |

For those that don't know, as a woman passes the age of 34 statistically the chance of a child with Downs increases. Pre natal care has nothing to do with it. It is a side affect of getting pregnant at her age. If you look around, the number of Downs children has decreased. This is due to the absolute narcissism of society. Instead of having the child many decide to kill it so as not to be an inconvenience.
If you have never been around someone with Downs you have missed out. I worked with a group while in Med School. A very kind, loving group of people. |

as someone who is in her early 40's and tried unsuccessfully to have a second child I can tell you that pregnancies at 43 are considered high risk. Hell, any pregnancy after 35 is considered high risk. One of the risks? Giving birth to a Down Syndrome child. But I wouldn't expect a numb nuts like Sullivan to know this let alone acknowledge it as a possibility. No, the alternative story is just too juicy to pass up. |

Used to be a right-winger, since he agreed with them on economic issues, but I think got tired of Republicans scapegoating and abusing gay people. So he turned away from them.
Kind of like the way Republicans lost black voters (Nixon's 'Southern Strategy') and in 2006, Latino voters.

"Is it yours?" I was stunned and it devastated me, for awhile I didn't want to take my baby sis anywhere for fear someone would think she was mine. This was in the era of shot gun weddings.
So I can empathize with this young girl, it's going to hurt and hurt badly..my situation was
just a silly old woman..but Bristol has been attacked by the evilest people in this country.

I am proud that there is an accomplished woman running for VP of my party. We keep talking about how we want change, we want someone who is a "regular" person going to Washington, we are tired of career politicians, but when it comes to walking the walk--we sit down and sulk. Not me, and apparently not millions of others in this country who have been energized by her selection!

I am not one of those persons calling Barack Obama a mulsim or terrorist. Plus I am a Daily Dish Sullivan Reader from way back when Sullivan first started after 9/11. I defended Sullivan when he called Hugh Hewitt on his past excesses (although I never recall Hewitt attacking a politician's kids). I have also defended Sullivan in the past from Ace, HotAir, Michelle Malkin, Jonah Goldberg, John Podhoretz, etc. I often do not agree with Sullivan's take, but I thought he was an honorable voice. For me to attack him now is a big deal, but it is justified.
Sullivan crossed a line with this nonsense. You do not attack a candidate's children without good cause and solid evidence. A Daily Kos echo chamber is not a legitimate source. Sullivan played the role of a dirty gutter hack. And he did it all on his own.
